    Rick has always been one of the most fascinating people to me . His philosophy about fishing and life in general . Met him at a classic and he is such a great guy . He has given more to the sport than any other angler past or present . One of a kind person . He doesn't need anything but a boat and a rod and reel . Natural raw talent . These guys will never compare to him . Thanks Rick for all that you have taught over the years .

    Awesome interview!!! I ran into Rick in the hallway at a Pitman Creek Wholesale show and told him about a RC2.5 bait I had been using. He told me to come to the show early so we could talk squarebill fishing. We talked a good 2 hrs about technics,line diameter and presentations. He then autographed my chewed up RC2.5 and gave me a new one (that bait is now retired) in the trophy case.

    I had just taken notice of B.A.S.S. tournaments in 1976. I was 15 when Rick won the classic that year.
    I followed his career through the pages of Bassmaster for years and I was finally fortunate enough to share the back of his boat during one of the earliest B.A.S.S. Pro-am tournaments.
    I have always admired him and I was always anxious to listen to him and learn.

    What a great podcast! I truly hope you have Rick back on another one. I remember when there was some kind of vote years ago. It was who is the best or greatest bass fisherman ever. I struggled to decide between Clunn and KVD. I finally picked Clunn for multiple reasons but yes it was Clunn! I understand what Rick was saying about the masses moving to MLF and basically the Legacy of anglers having to start over. I think mainly he was referring to KVD but could be wrong. That made a lot of sense to me at that point. Only time will tell but I do understand what was being presented to the anglers willing to make the move. I could go on forever about this subject but one thing I do believe for sure. Mr. Rick Clunn is a smart man and ahead of his time ❤

The first 3 Classics, yes, but the 1990 Classic win put him at $142,225.

    You guys are do great interviews and I really like what Trait? adds to the conversation. One thing that's fascinated me about bass fishing for a long time is surely good fisherman love fishing because of some connection with the outdoors and the environment. But the look and presentation of "pro' bass fishing is something where all that is stripped away and the focus is on the baits, the machismo, the gear, rods, sponsors, prize money, electronics. Bass fishing online or tv gives me very little about the environment or ecosystem in which this activity takes place, or even the beauty of the settings, which are fundamental to my own love of fishing. I could understand if it was just the top guys with all the crazy stuff but it seems like just to be in the club you need a boat, trailer, truck, 20 rods and a million baits that the average weekend person will barely use up. I appreciate your show because at least the commercialism is compartmentalized and I can avoid it if I want.

    • @Zaldaingerous
      @Zaldaingerous  Год назад

      We have a lot of plans that would allow us to get away from the Nascar look while we make films and dig deeper into the side of the outdoors that made all 3 (Me, Johnny Z our cameraman and Trait)of us fall in love with fishing. The biggest hurdle was convincing companies that we don’t need logos everywhere and loads of gear when we tell our stories, that the commercialization actually hinders our stories. If we can do what we have planned this June, it’ll be something you and many of the purists will appreciate.
