for all of you who don't know, shimmy beats delay tech brutally, but wakeup lows beat shimmy, but meatys beat wakeup lows, block and invincible dp beats meaty, but delayed meaty beats ex dp, but wakeup button beats delayed meaty, but meaty beats wakeup button, but of course block beats wakeup meaty, but throw beats block, tech throw beats throw, and parry beats block strings, but throw beats parry, and FYI DI beats DI 😤😤
As always though, general rule of thumb if you don't have a read on them: take the throw and block. And whilst it may seem like it's a complete lottery on guessing correctly, a lot of offensive pressure is about trying to condition your opponent into expecting certain situations and getting a read on their playstyle.
Nice video created by a smart guy because it is easy to listen as it is explained very structured, simple AND interesting. As a platinum 4 SF6 player I finally might have found the next important key to enter Diamond. The Shimmy. Thank you!
I learned this like 3 weeks ago and Ive been playing fighting games for almost 30 yrs lol! This EXTREMELY powerful guys and should always be on your mind! As a Marisa main Im always looking for the throw and the jump in and delayed tech is a must learn!
One tip to make sure you're doing the timing right is if you see your opponent's throw actually start and THEN the tech happens. That's how you know you're doing it late / correct.
This is one of those things where it seems so simple that pretty much anyone could figure out on their own but they don't because they already fell into the easy to fall into hole of "tech throws are just a guessing game" early on, like yours truly xD. This is definitely something I'm gonna start practicing and trying to incorporate into my play, thanks for the video Vesper this is gonna help a lot of people out a ton.
They wouldn't put this in their tutorial because it's a little bit game-breaking. Luckily it's not busted enough that I doubt they will take it out (much like crouch teching in SF4)
@@JUSTaGinVA They are meant to work that way. Its just an option select. Taking advantage of the buffer. You need an input buffer on throw to give people a big enough window to tech. Plenty of ways to abuse this. Buffering moves and specials so they come out if there is a gap in a string. Another one is to poke a space that the opponent walks and input a special so if it hits the special automatically comes out. Delay teching will get blown up once your opponent figures out that your delaying teching all their throws. They'll start neutral jumping mid string or doing shimmy's on wakeup or mid string. That punish counter can be 50%-60% with a level 3 super.
Thanks for releasing this Vesper. Ive been getting killed by taking the throw way too many times 😅. Time to put this into practice and get to diamond rank 👍
It's honestly crazy to me seeing chat blow up about how broken this is and if its gonna get patched like the SIA option select. this tech is probably older than a decent number of people playing this game. Its a good sign tho that sf6 is reaching a whole new audience and im here for it!
@@JoeRahl I was wondering if it's something that had been patched out or if it was going to. So we aren't being sarcastic. Not everyone has been in the fgc forever

I did not know how to do this properly and Im stuck in high plat. I 100% have problems getting S/T mixed up on wake up. This just might take me to diamond!
I didn't know there was a name for it. I was a throw tech monster. I was hard stuck diamond because of it. I then made the adjustment but it was hard to resist from doing it. I eventually got over the hump and got to master.
brilliant. i knew about this since sf4, but it always good to remember and know its nuances in every game. now i'd like to see the video in which you explain when it fails! like the jump neutral, shimmi, etv
Ive been doing delay tech since sf4 and now its become a very bad habit. I get blown up by neutral jump and shimmy a lot and now i gotta try and unlearn that muscle memory 😢
Great guide and I know for my casual a@# this does become a problem when someone turns up the heat and your just lost getting beat senseless. It's crazy how much I love the nuances in this game but it's those same nuances that will keep me from being a top tier player, this game is as deep or shallow as you want it to be. There's a nice simple training mode preset called throw escape to practice this. Also gotta say it's not such a secret if the game teaches it to you. You're explanation is much better than the games though
I figured this out just yesterday using the Throw Escape training preset and felt like a genius making an earth-shattering discovery. Today I open this video "so this has existed since Street Fighter 4..." 😓
in the end its still just comes down to fast reaction times. you need to see ur opponent throw a hit or grab, if he just stands there in the correct range and just shimmy back, you gonna throw a grab and he gets a free punish counter
I should’ve made this 😂 but i didn’t understand the full concept.. this is on my channel but with Juri the vid is called SGGK and also with Marisa SGGK
This is fantastic, but not a secret. In training under simple training settings, there's throw escape practice, where it explains this with a text "Crouch block as you get up and input a throw as his attack hits to defend against both strikes and throws". Haha :D
The video, streamer, concept, are all fantastic but oh my god the stream chat in the bottom left is so annoying. The entire chat must share a single brain cell amongst themselves

I'm blocking and waiting a slight moment when they're close to me as they drive rush in. If they attack, I of course, block, if they throw, then I still have time to tech since my throw is delayed.

this delayed throw tech will not work if they were tick throw you though like attack walk up and attack again.. for example.. they hit you with LK or x2 LK then while ur blocking and delaying the tech u will get grabbed after the tech… or they can easily LK or x2 LK or Drive Rush and grab you or continue pressure.. if u grab after ticks u can easily get punished if they continue to frame trap you with a button instead of grab.

In Training mode, they have a prerecorded version of this to practice and even tell you how to do it, but it is not part of the basic training.
