Well, many cars have weird moldings surrounding their airbox. That diffuser in the Cadillac ATS directs the air/water/contaminants downward inside that modded piece in the airbox so when it rains water doesn't saturate your filter and cause hydrolock
Ey3zGaming with a stock box filter it could get the filter wet but thats it. The cone filter like on the intake kit, the rain would not travel that far to reach it. If any rain did reach either type filter it would evaporate in the turbo compressor from the heat convection from turbine housing.
MadMatt is right and also, I would get a K&N filter, they're good for water and also have MAF sensor cleaner handy but never spray it while it's still connected to the battery.
The K&N filter sounds the same with the hood open however, when the hood is closed, you can now hear the turbo getting its air through the grille, which is a great whoosh sound and of course more efficient air flow.
Ripped that piece out and experiencing odd throttle response. Gonna get one of those zzp pcms with some other zzp parts and see if it corrects the behavior. Believe it’s probably confusing the computer in the car with air flow
This video will make you stronger by being able to conquer being dizzy. Have some friends take the dizzyness challenge, see if they can watch without being dizzy. In my military days I operated a flight simulator and flying those is a dizzy challenge.. I overcame it takes a lot to get me dizzy now

This is a older video, exoerience any issues with water or debris getting onto the air filter?
I can’t see how that hard plastic piece attaches cause you didn’t show it well enough. Trying to get it out now
could it possibly be blocked to keep rain... water in general to keep from getting to the filter?

Wish we could of hear it before the mod then after would of really been informative!!!

You could put the piece you removed back on. Check around to make sure nothing else was removed or unplugged while you were working in there.
@@madboostingmadmatt48 I’ll definitely do that
Did the cold air intake cause your check engine light to come on?
Mine had no issues with CEL
Aren’t you worried about your filter getting wet when driving in the rain?
No because its high enough
Where did you order your CAI from? I can not find one for my 2021 ct5 sport 2.0
I found mine on ebay, there is usually lots of competition of prices so you can find a great deal with free shipping.
That piece was directing air to the factory air box not blocking it
I thought that too until I removed mine and the turbo spooled up a little faster afterwords. I still have the factory air box
If you watched my entire video, I shine a flashlight through the grille and it leads straight to my K&N air filter
Damn camera is too close geez
Would this model fit the 13?
The13 should be the same intake design
Lay off the zoom function my guy
Yes it’s difficult to get the right angle on how tight areas are to make a video
@@madboostingmadmatt48 and maybe slow down a little! video zoomed in and zipping everywhere too fast made me nauseous lol
I got dizzy watching this
It happens wait until I get a great photographer
I think they were probably there for a reason but that's just my opinion ..
