Budget Performance for 2018 Cadillac ATS 2.0T AWD Performance intake and Exhaust Ideas

- Just bought my new AWD Cadillac ATS, really like the car but it needed some more breathing on the intake and exhaust side to really bring out its potential. I did the K&N intake and my exhaust idea and it really made a great difference on this car's personality. I like the fuel economy increase and the low end response on acceleration. One great car.

I am going to do this to my ats. All the amplified sounds I want and better fuel economy. It sounds amazing. Very good job!
I like what you did here. You made a custom exhaust, yet retained the stock appearance with the tips. No one would know unless they looked under the car, and you shaved 40 lbs. off the weight of the car.
JDM Legends he lost 40 lbs at the sacrifice of his already almost 50/50 weight distribution though. Sounds great though.
Evan Heyward so now the back will sway and shimmy?
@@simcityauto9610 Carbon fiber hood should fix that.
jambooguy a carbon hood isn’t gonna save 40 lbs
@@simcityauto9610 I'll take that trade off all day long
“Here we go!” ...lol love that. Good job!!
I did the same muffler delete and intake upgrade and I love it! Definitely can tell the difference in the sound and performance hands down!
Sounds awesome!!! My Daughter just bought a 2014 and she wants me to do this to hers... Great video!
I love the enthusiasm. Keep it up
Thanks for the video I am looking forward to these exact changes this winter for my 15 ats coupe
I have zzp CAI and I really enjoy that over the baffled stock intake. Hearing that turbo is awesome!
I have a cts with the same engine I am doing this , thanks for the video it was exactly what i was looking for
Soy Yo same going tomorrow!! Fuck that ankor
Beautiful sound! Thanks for the vid.
Great video keep making more
Great video!
Got the caddy sounding nice!
I installed a K&N 63 series air induction on my 2015 Ford Expedition. Then I deleted the 2 catalytic converters and the resonator along with the stock muffler. Then I installed a 40 series Flowmaster muffler. So, now my engine breathes much better and I can hear my twin turbos nice and loud. Now I just ordered an SCT X4 tuner and I'm going to have it tuned to get the maximum power out of my ecoboost engine.
Big Rob yo that’s crazy I’m looking at this vid because my mom just got a 2016 ats 2.0 and now i have her 07 expedition which she upgraded from.
Big Rob I’m 17 and I’m planning on lowering it about an half inch, tinted windows, small subwoofer, and an exhaust . Any suggestions?
Awesome vid, thanks for sharing.
I like what you did to your Cadillac😊👍.
Nice job on the mods
I miss this channel. Sad not seeing Matt any more. Well Matt if you read this i hope things are going well and no more medical problems appeared. Hope too meet you at a track some day.
Sounds freaking awsome and looks awsome
Great video, thanks for sharing.
I love you ride..good job Sir!!
I’m glade you did this so I didn’t waist a afternoon making it sound like a tractor
You are a Funny man!!! Enjoyed the video.
At first i hated the thought of a 4 cylinder in a cadillac but the more videos i watch the more i like them
They are great cars! I have one and it is decently fast stock and could be even faster with mods. The inside is really nice and would highly recommend it.
Those pipes are flexin
Damn that shit sound beautiful I have the same year to but man that sounds bad ass
Sounds really good!! I'm getting my intake delivered today I got the aem one now I think I want to try the muffler delete now after hearing yours I have a 2016 malibu premier it's not a caddy but I'm hoping it sounds similar to yours!! 🤞
it should, same LTG engine
@@mooseymikey82 just got the aem intake put on did it myself and as I'm sure you knw it sounds fantastic installation was a breeze I gotta say ! Worth every penny!! I did have to get the heat shield trimmed which kinda sucked could not close my hood wish it would come ready fit but that's the only complaint I had with it! Went to a couple places one place said 75 dollars I was not gonna pay 75 to trim some metal I ended up going to a shop near my house he charged me $20 I was ok with that. Again thx for the video on your channel it gave me a good idea of what I could expect!! 👍
it's like Tom Arnold telling you how much he fuckin' loves his Cadillac
I dig the set up. Im falling for the ATS coupe (2.0 or 3.6 all depends in the near 2-3 years). I’ve been searching RUclips for ownership reviews and am interested in how your ATS has performed since this simple, yet elegant modification. Cheers!
blade643 plus the fuel economy of a 4 cylinder. Win win.
skip the 3.6 their problematic, and not much for mods. plus just a tune on the 2.0 gives you a quick little caddy
Wow u gained 10 MPG pretty good man!
Nice! We got a 09 V6 CTS for a family car.
Great video, really detailed showcase too. Wondering where at you got the pipes tbat connect the y pipe to the tips? And if possible what’s the part number ? Thank you
I have a stock '16 2.0T 6MT and agree it's really quiet. Considering the K&N + muffler delete as well.
Hey man I’m looking at getting the same model you do, how did the muffler delete turn out? Or did you not end up doing it?
Nice car. Great color.
Silver🤷♂️
Awesome
Great video and part # intel. Did you get or have issues with getting Check Engine Light after muffler delete and CAI install? I'm seeing various post that note a Tune will be needed once these mods are done. Dis you get any lean p0171 codes after?
Sound cool👍
Where did you get the pipes - did they have to be bent ? Love this mod -
Sounds good
👍🏽👍🏽Loving this set up definitely considering this than spending a ton on an exhaust system just to get a similar sound. I just got a 2014 ats performance and im loving it every day! Is your Cadillac tuned?
Hello, I have a 2015 Cadillac cts 2.0 T. Do you think I can do something similar to this? And would this void the factory warranty? Thanks
Arturo fierros i also would like to know ..
Love the video with the exception that you cannot gain mpg with exhaust it may stay the same but won’t go up.
Any time that you reduce intake or exhaust restrictions fuel economy is a benefit, even though Performance is the main benefit
@Budget Boosting The LTG is built to correct anything you do unless you tune. you might want to learn about the LTG before giving bad info I only wanted to correct not argue but my knowledge in the LSJ LTG and LNF is robust.
How has it held up after 5 years? I need that exhaust set up, it looks so clean
I know what you were talking about when you said, "tac" because I was in the service. But when you call up the parts guys at the dealer they have know idea what you're talking about. Also, why is the internal wastegate diaphragm so large on these cars. It's significantly smaller on the Z31. I am guessing that the spring inside is a lot bigger so that it opens at 10-11 psi and not 7 like on the Z31.
This is good for a non emissions state , I could be wrong but also think the engine light would be on after making this modification, it would also cancel out any kind of warranty including an extended warranty
How has it ran these past 4 years if you still have it? I have an ATS, on the fence about modding, have heard some stories about problems arising.
👍🏿Could this be done for a single pipe 2.5 ATS? And is there a replaceable under fender with a two hole cut out?
Sounds good! Looks good too! I'm getting ready to do exhaust on my 2015 CTS 2.0T. Not going to straight pipe it but I'm going to do some research and figure out what sounds best. Thanks for the video. 👍🏼
Have you done anything else besides the Downpipe, exhaust and intake?
What about driver stability with the weight difference.?
I did a muffler delete. Idk if it's worth getting k n cold air intake. I just dropped in a k n filter for the stock intake. Nice car .
Question i been looking for a intake system for my XTS 2018 but i cant find any ? Any help
How much did this cost? Exhaust only, please.
Is there any drone at sustained highway speeds? Say using cruise control at 60mph or 70mph?
How many miles a gallon are you getting now and do you have 1/4 mile times ?
any check engine light?
How long is the exhaust pipe please ? 2.5 width and the length?
Shot in the dark here but..... do you like thr factory exhaust tips?
Did your check engine light happen to turn on when you did the muffler delete/straight pipe?? Thinking of doing the same.
Check engine light did not come on with my rear part of my exhaust. A year later I installed aftermarket downpipe and check engine light came on from cat sensor so I had to buy an MIL eliminator which fixed it.
Please do a driving review.
Any long term issues or still going good?
Oh I love this ! I wanna trade in my 2010 cts and get a awd 2.0T for racing
Did you put colder spark plugs an d a colder thermostat
Hay Matt see you on the 4th jim
Have you had any issues with shudder on this Cadallac?
Do you have the measurements for pipe bending
Removing the oil baffle in the intake. Will the extra oil going inside the engine hurt it, or will the oil just get burned up in the engine? I have a 2015 ATS coupe and I love it!
If you're worried about that you could install a catch can system. What I've noticed is that either people who put cold air intake systems on direct injection vehicles either don't care if the tops of their valves get gunked up or aren't aware of why it'll happen.
Granted, newer direct injection engines have sprayers to help mimic a fuel injected intake based spray system, however, without the baffle (or a catch can) your long term reliability will be reduced.
Catch can go fix the oil sitting in the intake. All direct injection turbo cars should consider getting a catch can to prevent oil ingestion in the combustion chamber which takes away from power and octane levels
No check engine light after the modifications? Looks and sounds nice!!
SwaqqtastiC18 no check engine light, just a better performing car
I like the sound, fuel economy improvement and weight improvement. Any dyno numbers vs stock? HP? TQ?
jambooguy your obviously a dope, less weight is bad for road stability, no?
@@sandmancat294 Were you dropped on your head as a child? Losing 40 lbs will only help, even if it's in the rear of the car. And this car with the added rear weight of AWD isn't going to handle any differently. If you knew anything about the ATS, you's know it's a already a superior handling chassis. My 2016 AWD 2.0T is rock-solid at all speeds and I will be doing this same mod and not lose a wink of sleep.
jambooguy your no engineer and your making the car lose value.
@@sandmancat294 I never claimed to be an engineer. Are you? Because seem really good at pulling opinions out of your ass without hard data to back them up. Production cars like the ATS will always lose value no matter what mods are done. It's just the nature of the beast. Now kindly fuck off and I will enjoy my AWD 2.0T as I see fit. See how that works? Mkay.
If you go to my mad Boosting RUclips channel you will see my Dino sessions with my intake and exhaust and then a second run with the ZZP big wheel Turbo.
Did it throw any codes when u did that?
I know you posted this 5 years ago, any chance you could tell me the exhaust piping you bought or the angles/ measurements you had?
Went to my local muffler shop, and they just custom fit. Everything really simple and Welds good too.
Hate to be a burden, by chance you have the pipe measurements and or dimensions? I'd like to do this with my coupe
s v yep your a burden
how is the int drone at HW speeds?
You could add more mpg with a fuel heater.
Do you get any drone noise?
I wonder how it would have sounded with a resonator before the y pipe
The factory resonator is there, just muffler was replaced with y pipe and exhaust tubing
Late but does that K&N Intake model fit a 2014 2.0T ATS ?
Yes it should fit just fine I have that key in an intake kit for sale if you’re interested
For a more subdued sound would a one inlet, two outlet turbo muffler be too restrictive?
I recommend a welded chambered muffler like Thrush, Summit or Flowmaster which are very free flow
No muffler like this one sounds like your cadillac is a turbo civic hunk of rice. Avoid chambered mufflers (thrush welded, summit, jegs welded mufflers are all flowmaster 40 series replicas) if you're worried about sound (chambered mufflers are very loud), they are definitely NOT free flow nor does flowmaster or these other companies claim that their chambered muffler outflows the competition. If I were you, I would seek out a magnaflow or magnaflow-type muffler such as Jones or Full Boar Exhaust which ARE free flowing-straight through mufflers. You can literally look into the inlet and see through the outlet if you hold it at the right angle. If your region does not do emissions testing, deleting or hallowing out your catalytic converter might just do the trick, that's where the real bottle neck is and freeing that up might give you a bit of an extra growl out the exhaust pipe even with the factory muffler. The factory muffler isn't restrictive till you get upwards of 400hp, deleting it MIGHT net you all of 5 ponies and subtract a whopping 35lbs. Good luck with your build!!
Did u get a muffler shop to do your mufflers and weld the exhaust tips ?
Yes my local muffler shop. Really straight forward
Did doing This throw any codes ?
How did you do the blow off valve work ? Any upgrade?
These use a BPV, bypass valve diverter. You hear the whoosh noise because of the cold air intake. It reciculates the air instead of releasing into the atmosphere like a BOV, blow off valve.
Now you need a tune N A Blow up Valve
Is he ever going to upload again
Did your check engine light turn on after the delete?
No check engine lights, until I did an off road down pipe, then I had to install MIL eliminator before downstream O2 sensor
I think K & N could have done a better job on this particular FIPK instead of making it so you have to stuff it in a corner of the engine compartment where hot air may build up, or there's reduced air flow. I just bought a 2018 Hyundai Elantra as a daily driver. I'm simply going to remove the stock air box and put a K & N cone filter in it's place. Forget the extra 100 bucks for the FIPK.
Dyno sheets would be dope.
Separate video
@@budgetboosting whats the name of the video?
You should fill that expansion tank some more. Expansion tanks need room to expand.
Did you do the exhaust work yourself? Or did you have a shop do it?
gavin mattingly i am not a welder but I know some really good ones. I shared my ideas and directions with a great welder with an exhaust tube bender and its like artwork.
MadMatt BudgetBoosting ok but all you did was cut the pipe put a splitter or a Y on it and just ran 2.5 inch pipe to the tips? Is the pipe underneath already 2.5?
Hi does your Cadillac shift hard from 1st to 2nd gear?
After having it tuned it shifted harder and firmer every gear
Is there any drone ?
I’m a 100% vet also. That’s how I could afford my used ATSV at 15k. Great visibility and easy to drive with my vision depth issues
Hope you respond some time, I’m now in the stage of looking for the proper pipes! any help would be appreciated
Sorry dude, now what you got is straight pipes. A resonator is not a muffler. The K & N cold air intake is no better than the factory airbox with a K & N filter. If you have to do budget performance, you need to be driving something cheaper. What's next? A $50 tune chip? I can only nod my head in disbelief.
Sounds like Jon Gruden!
I THINK WE’d ALL LIKE TO KNOW. Any drone?
Since it still has a resonator no drone that I notice
You should get a downpipe and a tune
Yo I found the y pipe but where did u get the bent pipes
piping you get done at a muffler shop
Hey Matt we haven't heard from ya. Hope all is well. Tune us in.
Soo I was thinking the same thing? I have not seen any more videos from him, hope he is doing fine.

Does the awd 2.0 come with a manual transmission ?
No only 2.0 rwd
