Good info brotha! I’m planning on tackling this job soon, started smelling like oil was burning after I parked. Sure enough it’s the valve cover gasket leaking. Mine is the 2013 2.5L ats . Might have to post up a video on it to help out some people as well. There’s nothing really out there. Again good instructions 👍🏼
@@anyadapremont2896 excuse my ignorance, but which one is that? Is it the silver tube coming from the right side into the valve cover? If so, i believe i just pulled it out..
I could never get that bolt out on the inner side of the vacuum pump. Edit: I ended up removing the cowl and wiper mechanism and it was very easy to get to that bolt from the top.
Thank you, I'm doing a 2.5 non turbo 2016 ATS, I did not order the vacuum pump metal gasket so I guess I have to postpone the project until I get it, How about the vacuum pump seal? does it need replacement?
The spark plug tube seals are not flush with the valve cover is it normal? I installed mine today but I got skeptical because it doesn’t go all the way in.
How did you install the coolant pipe that goes from the expansion tank to the engine is there a separate O ring for it? I installed it and it's leaking coolant everywhere! I would really appreciate your input.
Being a direct injection engine, there is no gasoline sprinting thru the intake to clean the valves and such. I heard these direct injection engines are prone to get gum and carbon buildup. You valvetrain looked good and clean. Did you happen to see how your intakes looked?
@@thomasnicholson6601 what cowling. My bf just finally got the last bolt out and then it took forever to remove the cover because you have to clear the cam shafts. Idk how it’s going to go back on.
Great video. How did you disconnect the oil line fitting that’s connected to the pcv valve @ 2:05 that sits on top of the valve cover?? I can’t get mine apart and idk what I’m doing wrong lol
I cant get mine out feels like my motor is too high up valve cover hits the top kinda where you have the blue tape and it feels like it cant come out.. help.
Kenobious you have to unbolt the transmission mount, I literally just did it now. Once you do you’ll have enough clearance to take the cover off. Remove the pump from the cover and slide it down and to the right. Just shimmy it through and move the tubes and wire harness out the way
@@jessicamanteria1633 ended up having to take it to a local shop to have them do it cause we were tired of trying. They said they had to jack the engine up to push it forward a bit and also remove the plastic piece between the windshield and engine bay to get enough leverage. That 3rd bolt is a pain to get off tho. Good luck and hopefully he can do it at home and save the $300
I’m in the process of doing the valve cover right now, got the bolts out. Now I’m at the part where you have to pull the cover off and it seems to be hitting the cam. How did you pull yours off if you don’t mind telling me
That’s what I kind of figured I’m exactly at that point where I have the valve cover loose but I lack the vertical clearance. Which bolts on the bottom did you end up doing exactly. I’m working on a 13 2.0T auto
Kenobious there are 2 bolts on each side of the brace (4 in total). Place the jack under the mount to keep the weight off the bolts, unbolt them and place them aside and then lower the jack. Go to the valve cover and shimmy that out as well but make sure the pump is out and disconnected from the block (from the earlier message) then it should finally come off. It’s the most stupidest fucking design I’ve ever seen in my life, never have I ever had to drop a transmission brace to get the valve cover off but it’s GM and this motor was used in a lot of they’re cars so I suspect they didn’t really plan that out.
Yeah I know. It took me forever to get the vacuum pump off and all the stuff leading to the valve cover. I just got it jacked up and I’ll look for those 4 bolts
Thank you for your sharing.. i have the same problem yesterday...put what’s the name and part #for seal that on the back of the valve cover and from where you get it..thanks again and keep going...👏👏👏👏👏
Easier to access the bolt by taking windshield wipers and arm brace watch this vid ruclips.net/video/6N5__vv52y8/видео.html. till he shows the Vaccum pump gone the bolts are real easy but the third one on the left side I bought a universal joint and used a breaker bar (not tight at all) and put the universal joint along w the 10 mm socket that way you get it in the hole then attach your breaker bar be careful too drop the joint and that it moves out of place when attaching your breaker bar I was trying through the top and w the breaker bar and then I tried it from the bottom got it in like 3 mins. I was stalling on doing this bc of the Vaccum pump thirdbolt but not too bad
