the Dominican Republic one of the most beautiful destinations for vacationing, socializing, the Dominican even if he does not know your name treats you like a brother his very friendly people fun make you feel at home stress is not known by the most beautiful beaches and landscapes his gastronomy It is delicious, there are very normal people, there is crime, and there are dangers worldwide, there is always someone with bad intentions, just like in the USA, Europe and the world, but in the Dominican Republic you live real life and you really feel that you are free. God bless that beautiful nation.

@@NorberisR The problem was the title, there are many people that don't even watch the whole video and because the title and the way you started explaining the bad things you may encounter when you travel to DR, they think the whole video is like that. I think a title like: Avoid this when you come to Dominican Republic would've been better and explaining the things to avoid. Just starting like if you are not patient you shouldn't go there, that's ridiculous, if you are not patient, you shouldn't go nowhere period. just going to any airport it becomes a nightmare sometimes. Also, you can't compare customer service, that's personal experience. When Dominicans see you are coming from the US or any country, they treat you like a queen or king. Don't belittle your country by putting such a title, it could be misinterpreted.

Very, very informative. Having patience is a must it drove me crazy the first time I went to the D.R. A lot of things there just don't make sense. I first situation was when going to get a sim card for my phone immediately after leaving the airport. Even though I was the only customer and there were two associates to help me it took a full thirty-minutes. I asked several times if everything was alright. Both workers were having a good time chatting back and forth. Please note that no other customers came while I was there.
Now, whyyyyyyyy did this transaction take thirty-minutes? There was my introduction to the D.R. WOWW
I know all of this stuff has taken you some time to get use to again. Your husband must be going crazy.

The island is different, Santo Domingo is Midtown Manhattan during the rush hour times 10, ALL DAY... I suggest VERY STRONGLY to learn Spanish. Or at least understand it. That is a major issue with foreigners in DR. I have that 'gringo look' being born in the US' so trust me the assumption is made that I don't speak it until I open my mouth and see that I'm Dominican as well. I get that look 'O.o'... It really does help that you speak it even if you destroy it. At least you're trying. Dominicans will help you. In the bigger cities there are more Dominicans who speak English. In fact I was told, by my cousin who is a native here, that if a Dominican doesn't speak English, they are looked as cavemen. You should try to watch Spanish speaking shows with English subtitles either way though. I has helped my wife and she couldn't speak a lick of Spanish, ok? Despite that, you are going to a foreign country with a different culture. It's not as advance as say the US but it has it's ways that you have to learn. You just have to have the desire to learn. If you believe, you can achieve. And EVERYTHING Norberis says is TRUE....If you're not ready, stay over where you're at and let us have this paradise...But if you are, get your passport and get yourself down here and enjoy paradise!!!

I live in a 24 floor high rise building in New York City and all my neighbors are all friendly we are all like family and we actually walk uninvited without any permission to each other’s homes with no problem. We all lookout for each other. And basically all of the people in the building are friendly. Our kids basically grew up together went to the same schools and treat each other like brothers and sisters. I’ve been to the Dominican Republic 6 times and I loved it so much that I just bought a new home there. Nobody will give a bill in English. Electric, wifi, cell phone, bank statements, car repair bills etc all in Spanish. If you request English they say they cant. That I dont understand. The thing that frustrates me the most is what you mentioned in the beginning, people that skip the line. This happens every where in DR, it drives me crazy. I have had to yell at a few people a few times ofcourse in Spanish cause I speak it fluently. But I gave up, so I don't say anything anymore. Lol

Santo Domingo is the capital and it's the big city life. And you find everything big cities have. Punta Cana is a tourist city with resorts and beaches. Punta Cana doesn't have monkeys around that was just at that park. So depending on what you are looking you can make a decision.

The only genuine reason I think someone (not me) might not like the DR is if they pick a bunch of new friends who are not economically stable and those friends become reliant upon you to pay for everything or anything when you are out because you’re a foreigner and you have a stronger currency. That’s it. But like I said, not me because you do what you can and stop when you cannot. Nothing wrong with being generous, but it’s a bad thing if you cannot afford to be very generous sometimes.

    • @NorberisR

This can happen. You can't be over generous here.

@@vickynoname9860 That is unfortinately quite sad because not everyone is like that or will want to separate you from your money. They can be your friends but if you have as a rule of thumb in your life, it's prerogative and no one can challenge you on it.
I just hope we don't miss out on good friendships or the opportunity to bless some very deserving (less fortunate) people.
Its the few that spoil it for the rest.
