I think it likely is actually AI generated, and "Variety" probably just a renaming of the "temperature" parameter that AI models use, which from my understanding increases the randomness of the outputs. So the idea is if you want the results to be more similar each time you click generate, you'd set it lower. But if you want literally more variety in how they look, you'd set it higher. I think with temperature/variety the thing is that if you max it out, it might potentially not follow your prompt very well, so probably best to experiment.

This appears to be the first practical application of Firefly, Adobe's AI image generation tool (itself still in beta - I'm currently beta-testing it). Adobe has indicated that AI image generation will be added to various tools in Photoshop and Illustrator, and possibly other programs. II'm impressed; had no idea they were this close to releasing it into the real world!

6:27 it's not "creating 85" it's an AI algorithm and variety is similar parameter as Midjourney has, meaning how much randomness and experimental artifacts the algorithm is allowed to use. But the reason it takes so long, is because it's AI generated based on prompts. Works just like Midjourney and similar. Perhaps ethically trained, unlike most image generation AIs

Thanks Anthony, good tutorial but I can't get it to work. I can get the different backdrops and some look pretty good. But when I click on any of them I get no checkmark, nor does it add it to the image. Then I noticed at the top of the filter window there is a warning icon and the message, "We've temporarily disabled this filter". The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I tried it and the same message was displayed. I have the latest version of the beta. It may be because I'm using windows and you're on a mac is why it works for you. I hope they get it fixed soon because I'd like to use it.

This Windows computer will not do this tutorial when it comes to working when the actually layers are downloaded. Something is not right about the background image itself when it is converted into layers. It seems they just are not pixel layers !
Also i noted that in the "select and mask" when i clicked on Invert, it did not invert the selection as in your tutorial. Maybe Adobe is perfecting the Beta versions on Apple computers- not windows.
Btw, the tutorial is really good though. Your explanations are always clear and understandable. 😊

To deselect an background option, have you tried clicking the 'X" in the upper right corner?

  • @Pics2FlicksDennis

This is awesome, but like chroma-keying in video, it’s critical to match the lighting of the background to that of the subject, otherwise the trickery will be obvious to even the most casual of viewer. Thanks for sharing.

I followed your great tutorial but can’t get this to work on either my intel or M1 macs. The generated background shows in the layer thumbnail correctly but does not show in the image. Viewing that layer alone shows just transparency. Blend mode is set to normal for that layer. Any suggestions please?

  • @joemiglionico6527
    @joemiglionico6527 Год назад

I tried using this a bit tonight and found it unusable as is. I could find no way to scale the backdrop created to match the foreground object. For example, if I had a full body image of someone and asked for a brick wall, none of the walls generated matched the subject in terms of size, distance, perspective etc. and it stayed that way no matter how I tried phrasing the prompts. If the background generated can't be adjusted in any way to tweak parameters and just gives you a set fixed image, then I just don't see this as being usable.

Dude, I did the usability study on this feature and you're wrong on just about everything.
    1. Yes, it IS A.I.
    2. It's not creating 80-whatever variations and only showing you 3, that's the percentage of similarity.
    3. It's not taking a long time because it's creating 80-something versions, it takes a while because it's doing a LOT of computation on the server--so much that they were considering limiting the number of images you can create per day.
I could say more, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to with the NDA I signed.

Obviously this is a Beta version.
Doesn't work for me and photoshop crashes.
My computer has more than enough memory. The GPU was already disabled, but unfortunately that doesn't help.
and frankly I don't see the point. Just choose a background as the underlying layer, possibly a stock file. Select subject and mask.
