The whole thing is like this. Just feeling the music. People screaming " its not metal!" IT'S NOT. It is Emotional soundscapes. Like He studied how to make classical music for movies. How music takes a cinematic feature and tells a story. Every one is trying for genres, but its Emotional soundscaping. I love Sleep Token.
@@darklorddysart I mostly agree except that it very clearly is metal, prog metal. People can try and No True Scotsman them if they want but it doesn't make them right.
This is the sound of a person both being carried by and pulled down by the current of another person at the same time while refusing to resist it until it is too late. The last line of "I can't hold myself together" coupled with the breakdown sends me every single time. The whole album of This Place Wil Become Your Tomb hits me like a fucking truck.
Phenomal breakdown of perhaps their most underappreciated song. The unconventional song structure is nothing new for Vessel, but rarely has he married his feelings with his music in this overwhelmingly precise, jarring, and beautiful manner. This isn't just a song, it's a symphony
Fun Fact: if you go through each song in the album with the visualizers they progressively go in increments I think 910 meters per song until the last song Missing Limbs ends at 10,924 M. Which is basically the farthest humans have gone into the depths of the ocean in the Marianas Trench
There's not many bands where you have to listen to the album front to back, but Sleep Token is a journey in each and every album, culminating to something that hasn't been revealed yet.
"Basking in the solace of regret" is one of my all-time favorite lyrics. Also, I love your descriptor, "an audible painting." This seems to apply to everything ST does - worship!
You seem excited every time you have sleep token on the schedule. I am too. Indeed they are a phenomenal band that just got signed to RCA records. Up there with some of the giants in the music world.
I LOVE this song so much! One of the first I listened to from them, it hit me from the start, the progression and the lyrics are just gold. Side note : I watched a movie two days ago that mentioned the Fibonacci sequence, then yesterday saw a tiktok that mentioned Tool and that very album and now you mention it too.... WILD synchronicities!
I am going through what this song talks about and it's so difficult. I closed that door a few days ago. ST has helped me through a lot. Your words towards Vessel really spoke to me too. Thank you!!🖤🖤🖤
Like you said, the songs are written like poems or stories. And someone else in the comments said they don't really fit into a musical genre. Sleep token are unique in the music industry. Truly special and they deserve all the recent and upcoming success. I can't wait to see them live in November
Check out a video by the R.Y.S.E movement called Anima- A Sleep Token. Theory. It’s not a toxic relationship with a woman it’s him struggling against his mental health and an ancient being called an Anima which is what sleep is. It’s his subconscious shadow self masked as version of the perfect woman. Some songs are from sleep to him like are you really okay. It’s basically her helping him face all the hells of mental health issues. And wanting the release of suicide. The song literally says please don’t hurt yourself again. I can’t word it like he does but it uses a lot of Carl Jungs teachings. It will literally blow your mind
the someone he is connected with is not a person (so to speak) its an idea/entity that visited him in a dream state. I connect with seeking for something that will never be attainable. but its not a win to accept it. its just an existence with no substance. its heavy subject matter. great reaction as always.
I'm pretty sure the whole 'sleep' thing is a crutch. The song is about a relationship with a person, but if you pretend it's a god you can justify being powerless. Either that or all his songs are about drugs 🤔
this whole album was way too relatable as someone who was drug into the deep end by a covert narcissist. there's not a more agonizing and grief ridden slow death than that of someone who falls in love with a narcissist or any other Cluster B personality type.
Totally..I'm currently entrenched in this situation...but we have a child together and I love them both deeply.I have to set aside ME for the greater good.
@@JaredHyder420Hang in there brother. Get out if you can, when it’s safe to, and don’t put the blame on your shoulders and don’t get conned back in through guilt or false promises. You’re only going to lose more of yourself the longer you stay.

This is my favorite song by them. Glad to see more people reacting to it =)
When the month of infinity buries its teeth in me , I’d smile through the agony for you . Wow what a line. My favorite in fact.
Its "when the mouth of infinity." not month
Parts of the vocal delivery remind me of shape note singing.
Been there, forearms are all scared up.
SPOT ON.
btw, breakdown at the end could be interpreted as someone drowning
you have really great reactions and you explain yourself really well :) loved this one
One of my faves ❤
I had no idea how much I needed your words. You get a sub from me for sure.

Considering they just signed with RCA. I’d say they’re not very poor anymore

Leo is such a great singer. Such emotion
Vessel.
Respect their wishes, it's Vessel; we might know origins, but we need to respect them and what they want for now, which is anonymity.
vessel not leo.
