I have two Firesticks on two TVs that will not update? I have moved and they are now hooked to a different Internet source. Could this be the problem? If so, how do I get my Firesticks to accept my new Internet connection to update. Otherwise the Firesticks are performing fine. They just will not update. Is there a setting on the F/S I may have turned off for updating? I am using an otg cable with an external drive for each F/S. Thx for any help you can provide.
Since the recent updates my fire stick remote no longer works properly the Home and voice buttons no longer work. I've tried to up date but when you go to update and press select it also doesn't let you do that, I've seen some other people are also having the same problem but amazon are not being very helpful, can you help ?
Great Advice! I updated to a 2amp external plug and it cured my ills!!! I was using an otg cable with an external drive. The current draw was even too much for the stock amazon adapter here in the USA.
I also switched back and forth between 2.4ghz and 5ghz sometimes. Wireless Interference can also mess up downloads!

Issue is the firestick just keeps saying updating then message comes on it fails then right back to updating. It doesn't connect to allow factory reset

PROBLEM FIXED…… Just left it on connected to power and connected in the HDMI port.
The update finished in 8days.
Finally working again.
That’s the longest software update I ever had !

Stuck on software update fail, say normal function will be available in a few minutes but just Loops back to try update, done the usual change usb cable, changed hdmi port, tried factory reset buttons on remote still nothing, is it time for new fire stick?

Hey can you help me out I cannot find debugging on my fire TV how to find it if it doesn’t show up there anymore
FireTV 2nd Generation (square metal box). It's not the power supply. I have 3 of these FireTV 2nd Generation and swapped out the power supplies. Even used my bench supply which has plenty of current but no luck. I tried adding a keyboard to the USB port and a keyboard with a few stokes on power up to force a Recovery but no luck. The reset using the remote did not
work. Any other tips would be helpful. I have let it sit for days with Optimization screen and no luck.

It worked. I took off the adapter that goes to a phone and put the fire stick adapter back in and plugged it in wall. After it finished optimizing it worked. Thank you

Question: I did the factory Reset, choose the language and after that the Fire tV is stuck on looking for Networks; how can I fixed this, thanks!
Since i stopped putting my Fire Stick Remote to sleep, i have had no more problems that you mentioned. When finished watching some thing, i just switch The Fire Stick off at the Mains Plug. I never put the Remote to sleep any more. Thanks for all your great info.

I did try all you have mentioned by myself and then repeated some of them with Amazon tech support. My unit was bricked and I was lucky that had some time left to claim the warranty, so they sent me what they claim it was a new stick (no remote or accesories), to me it is a refurbished unit for the way it was packaged up. Bottom line I had to send the faulty unit back and install all the apps again in the new one... I lost a couple of sideloaded apps than I can not find the apk any more 😫

Thank you for your help. My USB cable was connected to the port in the back of my modem. I didn't provide enough power to properly update. I lost my amazon plug but fortunately I had another usb plug from an old Motorola phone. Now the the fire stick has updated properly. A month of trouble has finally ended.

Shuts off by itself and i have to restart by unplugging from outlet to restart it. It keeps doing it over and over 4K firestick TV connected with wire, not WiFi

Why can"t we have editable profiles--in storage or cloud--that may be commanded to redo all that? Apps, too.

I never understood why it optimizes applications and storage after a factory reset only it makes no sense seeing as there's not much on it after a factory reset anyway if there was a button combination to do this when the process is actually needed the devices would probably run more snappy and run faster
I did factory reset now it just says can't load updates unplug forestick.wait 10 seconds and plug in .did it dozens of times no results it still stuck
I tried all of those things and nothing worked so I had to do the factory reset unfortunately. I tried to avoid it because I have apps that are still working on there that you can’t get any more like Cinema. I know they were supposed to be shut down but mine still works. I also had the old Codi Xanax which still worked for me as well. I lost both of them. I think what my issue was is that I had the ad blocking apps as well as the app that turns off updates so that Amazon wouldn’t load it back up with adware. The Prime Video app stopped working and told me I needed to update in order to Have it work again. I should’ve just went in and let some of the updates take place but I never got around to it. I think what happened was the version from my fire stick was so old that it finally wouldn’t allow it to work anymore and it just kept going in the restarting loop. In the end at least the factory reset worked and then I had to go through about six updates to get it working again.

We had a power outage. Now firestick looks to be stuck in some type of boot mode. Screen shows "firetv" with like an orange or red glow that keeps passing by.
I've replace power source, cable, stick is plugged directly into the TV. Same results. Also it will not reboot using the remote.
Is it time to replace it?

Since getting fiber optic installed and signing up for cable TV, my firestick stuck in the installing mode. I think u said make sure new wifi pw used but if I can't get it to open for settings,how can I do that.i tried different hdmi slots, powering off,etc.

I found power is an issue with firesticks most TV usb ports provide an inadequate charge it needs a minimum 5v 1amp charge from a mains power supply

I had to put my Firestick in the cold air from a fan to stop it overheating, and that was before the hot weather! however, my stick has packed up and just displays a screen of coloured pixels. Have done the usual, unplug and reboot etc and it makes no difference, so I am now trying to find out if I can get into the guts of the thing via my computer and the usb port, any ideas anyone. Obtain a compatible otg device device, USB-wired keyboard (desktop PC keyboard).
Plug in all relevant connectors.

I did have that problem and also had an otg cable with extra memory attached, I switched from the tv power to the original power supply and problem solved. It is funny that it worked for quite awhile connected to the tv and then started rebooting until the switch.
From my very first 2nd gen I've used a more powerful phone charger after it had heat issues which made it shut down constantly. Still using that same charger with my 4k with no issues since
I've tried a 2amp cell phone cable, tried putting USB charging end into my tv , tried different adapter plugs into PowerBar. Still getting the partial updating and it stops. Gonna try direct plug in to the wall socket , and if that doesn't help , try unplugging the stick for a bit then try that

i had the usb pluged in to the tv and noticed at times it would stop
therefore i then connected the usb to the mains of the wall and since then has work perfectly
Yes the usb to the tv doesn't receive another power Voltage
therefore it causes the firestick to stall

I had this problem with a fire cube. I unplugged the memory stick and it booted up.

Just turn it off and on again innit. Just turn the power off when all else fails. I have a similar problem where the the RUclips app keeps stopping playback. Restarting the device always solves the issue even when clearing the app cache never works

Hi free tech I don't have any problems with my fire sticks what I do is when av finish watching whatever av watched and am not going to use it anymore I turn it off at the wall I don't leave it running when I am not using it . So it can't over heat .😁
