Oh no! I just started getting back into 40k, and I was SO HYPED to see all the starter sets pop off. What happened to this series? I was legit enjoying it. Painting the blood on the arena floor after matches was just excellent.
A lot of people talking about codex creep like it's the only problem. Whilst the TSons had a very strong alpha strike, Guy moved up very far fast, which made it easy for the TSons to get their psychic powers off, as well as their shots and their melee, giving all three to an army on turn 1 that can do all three well is not a good idea. Keeping closer to the chest and getting to use the veil of darkness, however he was baited out which led to the very devastating alpha strike. Necrons have suffered from creep but they are by no means bottom tier and are still placing in top 4s as recently as last month. Sometimes you have to accept that the problems are not in the dice or the army but in the choices you make as the player. TSons aren't a good matchup for necrons due to all is dust, so playing cautiously and not leaving yourself open goes a long way.
@@MidwinterMinis it's a very entertaining series, but you have put yourself at a bit of a disadvantage. Although you'll know some armies well, with others you'll be winging it and all of your opponents, at the very least, are going to be familiar with their armies.

Really enjoying these little bite sized battle reports! Just a side note, don't scarabs auto wound on 6s to hit? Don't think it would have changed much but was just a side note.
Yes, missed that, would have been an extra 3 wounds, but the Rubrics would have had a 2+ save still. Best case scenario, I would have killed 1 more, thankfully not game changing at all.
Guy actually shouldn't have conceded at the end, because he did still have a very slight chance to win. A vehicle in combat can still freely target any unit in range, if it has multiple weapons. However it can only fire the weapons at distant targets if it first destroys all models in engagement range before it comes time to fire those weapons. He could have fired the 10 shot weapon at the rubrics, and with some lucky rolling, it would have been possible to kill them all. Unlikely, but worth a shot. He would then have been free to shoot his second weapon at the tzaangors. Because the opponent set them up in the conga line formation, he would only have needed to kill a single tzaangor, and then a further 4 would have been removed due to unit coherency rules. That would have taken the tzaangors off the middle objective and given guy the lead on VPs. This is all pretty unlikely to happen, but you should never throw away a victory when there is still any chance to win. Sometimes luck will be on your side. For this reason I never concede unless I'm absolutely certain I definitely can't win.
I still think they have a chance, T'au SC is a pretty strong box. Then again, AdMech's statlines, weaponry, and stratagems are all stronger across the board so...eh, I'm still rooting for my blue goat boys.
the fight between ahriman and the overlord was so epic i could just imagine ahriman casting an inferno of warpflames on that overlord only to notice him coming out of the flames untouched walking towards ahriman with glowing green eyes. Then ahriman tries to charge the lord flying with his disc at full speed covered in lightings Ahriman pierce the torso of the lord with his scepter stopping him dead and the lights in the lord's eyes vanish But then the lord reactivates again and in a single strike decapitates ahriman wich body fall to the ground only to turn into dust when it touches the dirt. Without a sound the lord turn towards the rubik marines with the clear intent to destroy those dusty posers and to show them who is the real space egyptian
To everyone whining about codex creep, this would have played out identically using the old book as well. Guy shot at guys with a 2+ who would have always had a 2+ only difference would have been two more dead marines due to less wounds but everything else pretty much could have been on the old book. Guy just ran his crons up like he was playing an assault army, simple mistake, not a loss due to codex creep.
