EXCUSE ME BUT FAT KIDS DON’T HAVE SELF ESTEEM! SHE DID THIS CHILD A FAVOR! SHE LOOKS GOOD CAN PLAY SPORTS NOT BE EMBARRASSED WHEN SHES A TEENAGER SHE CAN GO TO DANCES AND FIND NICE DRESSES. TELL ME WHO HAS SELF ESTEEM IF THEY’RE FAT? NO ONE! Children should be taught how to eat properly.
If she lost it safely, 1-2lbs per week, it's not unhealthy. She's not close to underweight now, which means she had 20lbs to lose. I wish my parents had helped me lose 20lbs when I was her age, even though I didn't know I needed to. Chubby kids tend to become fat adults. The issue _how_ she lost the weight. Not by the adults in her life modeling a healthy diet and regular exercise for the whole family, but by restricting the child's diet. The former will help throughout the kids' lives. The latter will destroy their self esteem and possibly lead to disordered eating not far down the road.
What is unhealthy is that she looks healthy now, but she had to lose 6 pants sizes to get to that weight. As long as it wasn’t 20lbs in a short time, and it was really more like 1/2 lbs a week and lost through mildly increased play/activity and the child was getting nutrient dense whole foods and it wasn’t weaponized or used as a punishment… there’s nothing wrong with focusing on getting your child into a healthy weight range. I think it’s child abuse/neglect to allow your 11 year old to carry around an extra 20+ lbs. that is a LOT of weight on a tiny body. Edit: idk the situation here or how the parents are. But just making the argument that is “could” have been done with good intentions and in a healthy way.

I don't have any finances coming in for various reasons. Haven't for the past year. My husband took up more hours at his second job to support me and our son. If I ever need anything, I just have to ask. He's never once said no to me about something unless he genuinely can't afford it, and even then, he'll say when he can do it and apologise profusely in the meantime. I am grateful that I don't have to worry about not being provided for or worry about having to ask for anything. And like you, I don't take the piss and ask for things that I don't need like expensive luxuries. I'm happy and well taken care of as a SAHM
The first woman: "I agree, yes I know, I thought this too, absolutely", to everything Dr. Phil says. We all know she didn't, or she would have done things differently, she just wants to be right.
The refrigerator thing is crazy. They went without a fridge for four weeks? He bought a snow mobile? Only after “it didn’t work” did he feel bad? Are you kidding? Of course she’s going to sometimes squirrel away money. She feels like she’s trapped and she is a victim of financial abuse.
They did not go without a fridge because he bought a snowmobile.. they went without a fridge because she wanted a GTX and was supposed to sell her motorcycle to help fund it, but SHE DIDN'T.. she can't manage money and wonders why he has to take control of the finances. I know better than to ask my husband to buy me a car when he's still paying off my motorcycle 🙄 she needs to quit playing the victim because she brought a lot of this on herself. I don't agree with them calling each other names, but that stems from the fact that she resents him for having to ask for money.. but she put herself there; someone has to make sure the bills get paid, and it won't be her!
Disrespectful and rude more like it, Ashley mentioned her mom which means she clearly still has her in her life and to hear this women disrespect and belittle your mom, you haven’t earned that girls respect!

It is but that's why the parents have 2 always be a team..I come.from 2 blended families and I can tell you they are awesome because our parents set the tone
Parents CANNOT be divided on how to correct their children. This is a huge problem with remarriages with children. Look up the divorce rates for second marriages with children it is staggering.
Just like everyone else who has kids in life does! I'm a single mother and work two jobs and yes some of that goes to child care costs but at least I can take care of myself my bills and anything else I want to save up for without begging a husband for money f that
Yes. Get a job like many of us moms. My kids are adults now and they respected that they had two parents who both worked hard to provide for them. It’s not that difficult- and it can be balanced and organized and fun
it looks like she lives in po-dunk minnesota or oklahoma or some other rural area that has limited financial opportunity.. good grief he buys snowmobiles and 4 runners calls her names and shes supposed to get wet over that..? doesnt look like they do anything together.. hes not tending his garden and she has zero discipline.. they need to instill Trust, otherwise call it quits and she will get child support from him..! but to build together is much wiser financially..
What is wrong with the evil stepmother?? I feel bad for little Ashley cause if u keep treating her like that!! they are gone divorce, he cant keep allowing her to treat her like this!
Why I feel bad for the stepchild that’s not right parenting based on just what you see and I’m not even a parent to do chores before you have a snack or in order to call your mother ?!! Wtf right does she have to say that she doesn’t even say it nicely .. she’s definitely not trying to have nice loving relationship with her stepdaughter ..
Of course, everyone is perfect the 1st 6 weeks of knowing them. It takes about 2 years to fully know someone because after that amount of time, you'll see even the parts they've been pretty good at hiding.
We were both military and married after 3 months. We met after my deployment and he happened to get stationed at my home base while I was gone. Now married 17 years and through 6 deployments and multiple TDYS and now both retired in our final home. ❤ It definitely wasn’t easy but we stuck with it. We have one child who is 15 and on the spectrum.
What part of thats her stepchild does she not get. Its not her child to yell at, tell what to do, treat her like she is her child. Her job is to be a strong adult that has good ears, good advice, and loving arms. Not a big mouth, yelling and screaming, ignoring her and saying she doesnt listen to her. She doesnt have to you are not the parent.
A liter is about 34 oz. A shot is about 1-2 oz. Average is about 1.5 oz and that’s a good pour at a bar. If he’s drinking 1 liter a week (sometimes two) that’s an average of about 3-4 drinks a day. That’s not 3-4 5% beers. Thats liquor. A completely different “buzz” in my opinion. One drink a day, maybe you don’t have a problem. 3-4 drinks with liquor… 😬
The one with the issues is that first evil stepmother. Is it April?? Chris should leave and take that poor girl with him!! In fact all the children need to go with him. April is a nasty horrid person!!
I married my first husband after 6 weeks ,and everything was fine, but yes, I did not know enough about him before i married him, and unfortunately, he committed suicide on July 12th,1991. 😭😭😭😭
Sad but it happens 😢 I married a man who seemed lovely. Turned out he was raised in a cult, was sexually abused, etc etc. he ended up being abusive since I had had a beautiful childhood. I had to pay for his misfortunes
I feel sorry for the children because they are seeing all the arguments which is damaging. I'm blessed to have had two loving parents who kept any disagreements between just them and who always respected each other.
Poor Ashley having to witness all the fights. You do not do that in front of children. Barking orders at her is not right either. The next couple should not be married at all.
Good luck on him stopping drinking. The 2nd couple I can see why he would not want her handling the money. 20 years living like that? I don't understand why they are still together.
I think the first couple can make it if they get family counseling, I just think that they don’t know which way or what to do. I think they still care about each other and I hope that they’re able to get what they need and be successful in their marriage. The second one is a bad situation and he keeps using the term my money, my money, which really is not just his money. He says it’s what she does, he doesn’t say what he does is wrong, his whole mindset is totally totally off
11 year olds are like cats who are in their bedrooms and sometimes venture out to eat. Just give her a total break. She needs space to grow up and test her parents and push limits and most importantly still get love even though she is not perfect...this child needs unconditional true love and an arguement free life without watching arguing day and night!!!
My daughter and I had fights at Ashley’s age all the time. So I think her rebellious behavior is just normal. Regardless to say stepmom and father need to „improve“. So first of all, why is stepmom even in charge of raising Ashley? My daughter has a stepmom. I made it very clear to come with issues to me to resolve them as a team.
They both just need to stop treating each other and the teenaged girl like the enemy. Its not good for any of the children. And the not seeing eye to eye on parenting is still no reason to have that conversation in front of the kids or attack the kid over it.
April is a control freak and she's such a child. Maybe if she talked to mature women who have lived in reality ratger than turning to social media in order to be told "Man bad -You good" then maybe there would be a hint of a chance to repair this. As for how she clearly has contempt for that little girl - Shame On You!
My second marriage, never let my new husband rear, or raise . We both had two from our previous marriage, took us five years to blend that family together before we got married, and every time we ever had an argument was over the difference of how he raised his children as opposed to how I raised mine, never let him support my children I supported my children, and for the first couple years every time we broke up, it was disagreements about our children, but it took us five years and I’m glad we waited
My husband and I have a blended family of 7 kids. I always went to his ex for problems with my husband’s kids and he went to my ex. Been married for 23 years and have 13 grandkids. We all still get together for important family events. Open communication and not arguing with kids present.

This is exactly why I decided I would never remarry again or have another child with a different father. One ex is enough and my sons are my #1 with no competing other kids.
Same!
You did well. I wish I hadn’t remarried. I did decide though to not have children with anyone else besides their father, and I’m glad I did.
All men bad or is it Y’all?
@@MrBobbo18 no, there are good men, but I had 2 sons that needed me 100% so I didn’t want to complicate their lives anymore by bringing in someone new.
Me to
My first husband drank beer but I was 19 & naive to alcoholism. My mother-in-law was right on when she said, "if it's going to get ugly or violent, it'll be his 15-17th year of drinking." He chose alcohol over family & died from it 2 years ago. Don't marry someone who drinks unless you're willing to be hurt.....or killed.
Absolutely nutty take. You chose an alcoholic. Don’t choose alcoholics should be your phrasing.
Not everyone who drinks alcohol is an alcoholic or drinks to excess.
@@buffalosabresloyalist8913 Well... I would call several times pr week IS drinking to excess...
@@skrallanmo2594not at all.. you can drink every night.. just no more than like 2.. but did you see what they said.. "to excess".. over 2 would be that, if its every night..
but also ppl who can handle it can go weeks as well with nothing..
not someone who needs it every time..
hope you can understand the difference..
@@buffalosabresloyalist8913exactly.. only some ppl dont get that..
You're both fighting in front of the children 😢.
I thought that. No wonder the stepdaughter is getting an attitude when all she sees every day is attitude and arguing. Go in the other room, ffs. And don't use the kids to "prove" who's right and who's wrong by dragging them into the middle of it
That poor infant being blasted in her moms arms can't feel good.
I do not understand these women who get pregnant after 5 mins of knowing someone. Unless you are aiming to be a single mum and you just need the baby to complete that dream, it seems like one of the dumbest, most selfish things you could do.
It takes two 🤷♀️
@Tori.601 but her body her choice right isn't that what they are always saying? He didn't r*pe her.....
It's wild to me the " mum" is usually blamed. Often times by other women
An 11 yr old losing that much weight is not only unhealthy physically but she’s destroying that poor kid’s self esteem
@megangorski...yeah...and it's hardly like the stepmother is twiggy 🤷🏻♀️
Exactly, she is jealous of the child. She needs to watch her own weight
This makes me soooooo glad Im single and HAPPILY divorced for 41 years!!!!!
It shouldn’t lol
Im sorry to hear that.
Yes Lord
They are both too immature.
I agree w/this statement,100%💯
the last couple, yes.. the first one has hope.. she's overwhelmed.. he got tired of being the solo parent, and the step mom is put in charge of everything.. so he can drink..
Go to work instead of depending on him.
He is a bully.
You mean she is a bully
This makes me so happy my man is not a money bully. Im a stay at home mom and that would be so emotionally abusive. I also dont drain my husbands accounts though
Tom called the money, “my money.” It’s for the family and therefore our money
She talks to Ashley with complete contempt smh
The fact the wife said she is the first positive female role model Ashley has had, is so damn rude and egotistical.
Agreed! She is a terrible example of a loving caring wife and mother
Disrespectful and rude more like it, Ashley mentioned her mom which means she clearly still has her in her life and to hear this women disrespect and belittle your mom, you haven’t earned that girls respect!
Get rid of that stepmom. You're little girl deserves better. Don't get why he had 2 kids with this women. Let her go.
I'm sorry but why exactly is April worried about an 11 year old girls weight when she should clearly be worried about her own?
It's so hard mixing families😢
The problem is he's not supporting her as the other parent and disagreeing in front of that child only makes her think it's ok for her not to listen to her stepmother
@@aramisbarnes8345thanQ! everyone dumping on the step-mom.. shes a very decent, concerned woman..! she loves him! and the daughter..
It is but that's why the parents have 2 always be a team..I come.from 2 blended families and I can tell you they are awesome because our parents set the tone
I hope more people learn that bringing baggage into A new marriage isn't worth all of the misery .
Most of the time it doesn’t work. Too many issues that bring drama with it.
My husband and I are going to be married 53 years this September…….we only knew each other for 6 months 😅
Congratulations...Very " rare" these days...🎉
58 years coming up..17 and 18. Not always smooth for sure
Why are they arguing with an 11yr old. Act like parents and tell ur child what their supposed to do . But dam don't argue with ur kid😮
Parents CANNOT be divided on how to correct their children. This is a huge problem with remarriages with children. Look up the divorce rates for second marriages with children it is staggering.
Second couple? Why didn't she get a job. Why wait around for money from your husband.
3 kids, how?
Just like everyone else who has kids in life does! I'm a single mother and work two jobs and yes some of that goes to child care costs but at least I can take care of myself my bills and anything else I want to save up for without begging a husband for money f that
@@susanbeemer4331How she gone pay daycare???? She didnt have money to drive, so How kids will go to day care?
Best episode I have seen in a long time👏 ❤ Dr. Phil has a lot of heart and understanding.
Thank you to all counselors for helping us be better people.
If you aren't getting along in your marriage, why did you have more children together?
People believe a baby will save a dying relationship and while it may bring a bit of joy it adds more strain.
My husband and I moved in together after three days, we got married 10 months later and we’ve been happily married for 23 years
You are an exception.
The exception to the rule.
We were both military and married after 3 months. We met after my deployment and he happened to get stationed at my home base while I was gone.
Now married 17 years and through 6 deployments and multiple TDYS and now both retired in our final home. ❤
It definitely wasn’t easy but we stuck with it. We have one child who is 15 and on the spectrum.
@@bobbimaureen9353 congratulations! We have three beautiful girls who are now in college.
Ashley should relax. She won’t be her stepdaughter for long.
The mother needs to lose weight not the child.
Stepmom is a glorified Drill Sergeant. Her mothering skills are something to be desired!
Amen, and if she is that bad in front of her husband I have to wonder how bad she is when he is not around?
What part of thats her stepchild does she not get. Its not her child to yell at, tell what to do, treat her like she is her child. Her job is to be a strong adult that has good ears, good advice, and loving arms. Not a big mouth, yelling and screaming, ignoring her and saying she doesnt listen to her. She doesnt have to you are not the parent.
The kid is a grade A student why are they being so mean to her ?
There’s other things
Stepmom is abusive to Ashley. Her father needs to step up and protect his daughter.
This man Tom is a louse, he holds the purse strings in this marriage. There is no love left in their marriage, and no trust, only hate left.
Oh dear, I’m glad I don’t live next to this family
Step mom's a monster! How DARE she speak to someone else' child like that. What kind of animal bullies CHILDREN! There is NO excuse for her behavior.
Animals don’t bully children, but humans do.
He’s smiling 🙂 grinning ear to ear
Omg! Poor Ashley! Get that monster step mom away from this poor child!
The one with the issues is that first evil stepmother. Is it April?? Chris should leave and take that poor girl with him!! In fact all the children need to go with him. April is a nasty horrid person!!
Agreed
I married my first husband after 6 weeks ,and everything was fine, but yes, I did not know enough about him before i married him, and unfortunately, he committed suicide on July 12th,1991.
😭😭😭😭
I am so sorry. 😞 😔
I hope you have found Peace.
I may have misinterpreted the crying emojis.
I’m
So
Sorry
Sad but it happens 😢 I married a man who seemed lovely. Turned out he was raised in a cult, was sexually abused, etc etc. he ended up being abusive since I had had a beautiful childhood. I had to pay for his misfortunes
Sorry
I feel sorry for the children because they are seeing all the arguments which is damaging. I'm blessed to have had two loving parents who kept any disagreements between just them and who always respected each other.
Poor Ashley having to witness all the fights. You do not do that in front of children. Barking orders at her is not right either. The next couple should not be married at all.
So Tom buys stuff left and right and doesn’t care if he’s in debt but says she’s bad with money. Am I missing something?
Tbh, I wish my parents enforced healthy eating when I was young. I think it would have saved me a lot of turmoil as an adult
Maybe not "enforced" - that can bring it's own set of issues 😢
You'd just have a differently bad relationship with food and resentment
Chris needs to remember that his first priority is to his daughter. Period.
Since this stepmom is complaining about her stepdaughter's weight...why doesn't SHE lose HER extra wight(?)
Don't fight in front of your children!!!!!!!!!
If I were Ashley's mom, I would be taking this video my the court and show them how Ashley is being treated.
U both know you’re in a losing battle!!! CUT THE CORD !!!
Good luck on him stopping drinking. The 2nd couple I can see why he would not want her handling the money. 20 years living like that? I don't understand why they are still together.
OH AFTER HE BUYS 4 WHEELERS AND MOTORCYCLES AND HOLDS A FRIDGE VACK HES DISGUSTING
Poor baby having to listen to all of it
She is jealous of that little girl. Her facial expressions speak volumes when Dr. Phil started giving the little girl accolades.
I feel sorry for the kids. Divirce and go your seperate ways before you damage these kids.
My husband and I had 35 years together. One of the many things on which we agreed was to always be “scrupulously polite” to one another.
When you start calling each other nasty names and curse at each other , you have lost all respect for each other. Walk away.
That girl should not be talked to that way it’s disgusting 😂
I think the first couple can make it if they get family counseling, I just think that they don’t know which way or what to do. I think they still care about each other and I hope that they’re able to get what they need and be successful in their marriage.
The second one is a bad situation and he keeps using the term my money, my money, which really is not just his money. He says it’s what she does, he doesn’t say what he does is wrong, his whole mindset is totally totally off
Sad- they don’t share and fighting over little stuff. The adult children need more attention. I hear lifestyle differences at minimum.
It's NOT a matter of who's right.... but rather, it's a matter of what's right.
The step mom is Toxic, jealousy and very unstable 😂😂😂 poor little girl.
It takes two to Tango! They all need to grow up!
I think the stepmother is jealous and acts like Ashley is trying to compete with her. Pitiful.
Nah. She’s just doesn’t know what to do. She definitely messing it up tho, but the dynamics are horribly wrong.
April isn’t a skinny Minnie, how is she shaming this kid about her weight?!?
Anyone would have a drinking problem with her
First lady us pure evil. Poor ashley
1:31 She isnt any better than he is Calling him a baby parent in front of the kids!! He's lazy and she's right in some ways but she is just as bad! 5:55 Dr.phil is right you don't know someone after 6 weeks thats the " honey moon stage all relationships tend to have goes away and then you start to get to know the real person
