Here’s my thing:
Making the game look better, adding a color wheel, and even a new life stage is amazing. BUT. How will the gameplay change? TS2 and TS3 weren’t the best looking sims games due to the time period, but the game quality was top tier. TS4 seems so bland and honestly dead. They can make it look as pretty as they want, but if the sims still feel like robots, it’s still lacking
We're not getting a color wheel in Sims 4. The color wheel is for the new game.
They'd literally have to rebuild the game from the ground up for Sims 4 to be comparable to Sims 2 and Sims 3, and that's not going to happen because then they'd basically be making a new game and they're already doing that. People will just have to make do until the new one comes out

iirc color wheel was a thing in Sims 3 but only in create a sim category tho
My worry is that EA will focus too much on the online aspect of the Sims 5, making the single player underwhelming. Mobile compatibility is also not a good sign lol
Another thing that worries me is how they might make it another building simulator or character creator, because these two modes were the most successful ones in the Sims 4. They also said that creativity is the main aspect of the Sims and I hope they didn't mean "all sims are the same and you imagine your own story and gameplay". I just want the lore back and all the little details like we have in the Sims 2. I'd love more animations too. No more magical teleportation of objects into the sims hands please. Or using the same animation for 100 interactions. And more romantic interactions please, I want all those flirts and kisses from the Sims 2. But of course I can only dream about it 😔
PS. The 100 baby challenge will get 100 times more annoying with the new life stage lmao. Now there are 3 baby life stages, maybe it's time to add preteens before the Sims 4 dies
The thing is they didn’t fix the babies just added a new life state this doesn’t fix the babies problem I want to be able to watch tv while holding my baby or be on the phone makes it feel more alive it’s why I love the sims 2 babies the most they feel like actual children

Indeed. The open world aspect of Sims 3 is why i still prefer it to Sims 4. It felt so free and meanwhile Sims 4 open world barely exist and it's just slow loading to another place after another.
Me too! I still play Sims 3 [32 bit] for this. I also find the look of the characters a bit too cartoonish in Sims 4. Glad I did not pay for S4 and hope S5 will be a step up.

I'm actually really excited for the Overwolf feature, idk if the mod creators are gonna take to it but I hope so.
If they'll allow me to host the Oughties Big Rapids Living Stuff Pack there, I'm game for it. Since it's a CC pack, and doesn't do anything script-wise to change the game, it shouldn't cause too much trouble. Apart from the Mancino's, Boost Mobile, and Szot's signs, no new meshes are included. Everything else is a repaint of in-game objects, or custom clothing, or custom Sims based on characters or real life alumni of Ferris State, or real life townies of Big Rapids from the time period. Translation, if you have the DLC that those items were made with, then everything should work.
North Bond Hall, apart from the rest of the pack, has been downloaded quite a bit from Mod the Sims already.
I would much prefer a more elaborate Create-A-Sim over a more advanced build mode. I have a lot of original characters, and I would love to be able to make them the way I imagined them to look.
Considering its EA, i would assume they only announced it because of paralives hype, luckily most people who are invested in Paralives have already given up hope for the Sims.
I'm waiting for a proper gameplay of sims5 (from some player of course). If it's not at least as good as sims2, i'll get paralives.
I wouldn't say I've totally given up hope, but I'm definitely waiting to see more before jumping on the hype train. At the moment there's barely anything. I have given up hope on EA's marketing and expect it to negatively impact pack releases.
And either way I'm getting Paralives both to support a smaller production and to discourage the current monopoly on the genre. There's no reason not to get both if they both turn out to be good games.
^I'll buy Paralives for the same reason and pirate TS just like I'm doing now. If EA actually shapes up then I'll pay them.
I've been playing sims 4 on and off for years now, found it fun for the short while until it turns bland since the gameplay is so lacking. And especially building, that part was always so unintuitive. But good thing we have paralives coming since it looks amazing with how much more details it has and how intuitive the building is.
I agree. The build mode is a total disaster of copy-paste from paralives' build mode. They are just stealing their mechanics and labeling them as their own original take. Paralives came* up with the entire build mode wip they previewed.
I wish I could say I was optimistic about this Project Rene thing, but IDK.
I hope Rene will have an offline mode. I got a bad feeling it’s gonna be like something between the Sims for PC/Mac and Sims Mobile in terms of being EA’s next big cash grab. Precedent suggests they want you to buy stuff right in the game, I won’t be surprised if we start out with barely any assets in the base game and are introduced to extra paid content packs on or before day one.

When I noticed the infants are starting to move my mind went blank, acting like this. Reminds me of Sims 3 and at the same time I just wanna put up my ideas like from Sims two with the mermaids and the scuba divers. I wish we can be able to see them underwater with them, but a little different heck are you really started thinking about what will happen if they’re starting to put in fairies now for Sims 4
I'm not that excited about sims 5 because it seems like they only started on it because of paralives. I'm actually kind of worried about paralives' production now but I am glad that babies in sims 4 are getting more to do
Edit: I meant in terms of building capabilities with being able to place furniture and accessories anywhere, customize beds by changing their size, etc is a little suspicious to me. The fact that they're showing off something so similar a year after what paralives showed off is concerning
sims 5 has likely begun development before paralives was announced.

The Sims 5 is going to be absolutely *PLAGUED* with microtransactions, I'm calling that from a mile away. The fact that kits exist at all and idiots keep buying them is just a huge green light to monetize the hell out of the next game. That and mobile is involved... One of the most abusive and disgusting gaming platforms out there... Wrap that up with EA at the helm and you have a game that everyone is going to be "so shocked and befuddled" will cost well over $1000 to get the "complete package".
It's such a shame that EA milks and abuses such a relatively wholesome gaming community. I guess that's just the way it's going to be since nobody seems to take any issue with how lifeless and awful and equally overpriced nearly all of the DLC has been for The Sims 4.
Having a few items or sets for a little money is one thing. No one was expected to buy everything on the Sims 3 store and that would have been over $1000. Similarly I've bought a single kit.
I'm not saying you're wrong. They will microtransation the heck out of it. But it's also nothing new and if they don't leave stuff out of expansions to make kits out of them it's generally okay. Especially since I could get stuff similar to most of the things on Sims 3 Store for free as CC.

the point is being able to pick and choose what packs interest you personally and suit your play style. not getting every single pack just because you can. how many simmers really want Journey to Batuu, "Laundry Day Stuff", the broken Dine Out pack, werewolves, *and* Eco Lifestyle?

To get the full off-the-grid experience I need at minimum the following lot traits and items:
- off-the-grid (base game)
- reduce and recycle, and the power generators that make off-grid viable (Eco Living)
- Simple Living (Cottage Living)
- Laundry Day if I'm looking for extra realism
So, I need at least two full expansions to get the proper experience of the trait included in base game. This isn't just the consumer picking and choosing. This is the developers splitting features across multiple packs.

I'm happy with the new life stage however I still would like some improvements with newborns, like being able to change (in base game) them, being able to swaddle. And improved looks. Like some newborns are born with hair some have curls, waves or straight.
Honestly I knew when they presented it it was most likely just going to be a new life stage it would have been a huge ordeal to try to update and integrate with packs that already had some infant (now newborns) game play like knitting stuff pack and Get to work game pack.
I have a Logic for werewolf pack. Girl sims : The werewolves makes me tense when there are into their animal form but I fell happy when they play correctly an instrument and I give some money.😂
I'm really looking forward to Overwolf! I often struggle to get mods, because to me, they're uncharted territory. They're not always easy to find, nor are they always safe. Overwolf will make it MUCH easier to get mods and CC! (I hope!)
I'm kinda sad. Sims 4 don't have all the packs Sims 3 have but they are talking about Sims 5? I really like playing with Supernatural Sims and it just makes me sad that we don't have fairies, zombies and other occoults that I forgot. It also kinda dissappointed me that the werewolves looked like a dog, aliens didn't have much abilities, mermaids also didn't have much abilities. I'am at least satisfied with vampire, spellcaster and werewolf abilities but now the story looks lacking. It is just sad that they won't make improvements and will make a New game instead...

@@AlexMourning5635 or they put a greater emphasis on customization than the pack makers for previous games and they heard the feedback that a lot of people actually only wanted one or some of the supernaturals (im one of those people) from the TS3 pack, plus iirc supernaturals were split between packs in at least one of the first two games. and as jarring as it is to hear/read about it (packs being smaller and more focused than in 1-3), when i think back to TS3 Supernatural, i think that a lot of people would’ve liked to be able to have the gothic, Victorian(?), & vampire content and the witchy stuff & those features, but not wanted any of fairy related chunk of that pack and it’s associated aesthetic (or vice versa, or just no werewolves). you just had to keep it all in your game, and some of the packs for 1-3 were really, really broad.
we all know that the packs cost a lot of money and made your game perform worse, so being that the game not running well enough is like the biggest complaint people have with Sims 3, I’m not that disgusted by the idea of making smaller packs and being able to be more specific about what I invest my storage and money into and what I’m willing to tax the game’s performance for.
as nice as it is to get a great big value pack with a bunch of stuff in it, there are downsides to that vs being able to just get exactly what you want. and considering you can get all of these packs for free without having to be that skilled with technology, I really appreciate that the packs are smaller, I don’t need bang for my buck when it’s all free, and i love not having the game’s menus clogged with the 1/3 of each EP’s content that i don’t want to ever use or see.
Imagine announcing Sims 5, when Sims 4 is still half-baked excuse of simulation. It's 25% complete in comparison to Sims 2, or Sims 4 🤣🤣🤣

I hope the whole world map is customizable and not just another premade worlds thing... I hope that we can have dlcs that are mostly world customizations so we could buy certain dlc for certain looks we're going for if its like alien or volcanic or something. Open world is a biiiiig thing that I want in the next game... it was in Sims 3 but poorly applied and managed... I hope they have a good plan and hope they add this to the next game... I really don't want a loading screen every time I'm just moving my sims from one location to another but also hope each lot (PLACEABLE ONES) has its own designated type and settings for like public access or hireable sims for a shop so I could just downright hire whoever I want... I also want to be able to see the same sims in the exact same building in the same time when in a different household instead of them automatically being at the house when I choose them... It's so immersion breaking.
I feel like there should be an age in Sims that is between child and teenager. Like a preteen. I don’t really have any ideas with it, but I just feel like the jump in the game from child to teenager is kind of big.
I think the actual problem is that the later Sims 3 and 4 model the teen stage on the older end of the spectrum - they look and act like 18 year olds. I would walk back the existing teen stage to 14-16.

Don't really want it as a Sims 4 attachment. For one thing, it would probably be stripped down or have a lot more limited story like Battu and Strangerville. I would like to see another Medieval-like game with the various quests only this time with kids and spouses aging more like the main series.
It's hard to tell if the sims 5 is a game or a CAD programme from the look of it.
tbh i feel like it was a marketing trick or something when they made the sims 4 free. they know damn how many packs they have for this game. making the game free brings in A LOT of new players but to make the game actually fun you have to buy DLC

The shots from the "Sims 5" they showed leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, because the shading, and general style just looks ripped off from paralives. Am I the only one? Maybe it's just me
no you're so right. definitely doesn't look anything like the styles they used in TS1-4
It looks like they're maybe not the finished product yet. The Paralives demos are likewise a work in progress and shading and textures are occasionally updated.
I reckon they're both reacting to complaints about Sims 4 looking too cartoony.

omg i remember being obsessed with the sims freeplay as a kid but the characters were so ugly i stopped one day. i even had the game hacked and had infinite money
i got the sims4 for free a few years ago and then all the dlc "legally" for free earlier this year but before i had the pc version i bought the stupid ps4 version for like $20. its SO bad. i wish there were better updates for console. (not that it matters for me since i have the pc version with all the good mods)

if sims 5 does it right and allow cross-platform / cross-progression and becomes free to play and allow us to actually play a sims game cause i dont want it to be a build mode thats it and allow us to play sims like we normally can do on sims 1-2-3-4 but allow multiplayer for our friends to join our world and stuff and actually include all the stuff thats meant to be in the game cough cough babies toddlers etc cough cough then i think it'll be 10x better then the other 2 mobile sims game and better then sims 4
And the little Sims 2 details they added as well and if seasons are already built into the game. That would be perfect.

Exactly! It's sad because Paralives is a small game being developed by a tiny group of people spending sleepless nights on the game. The Sims team tries to get them in trouble for having similar features yet copy their entire work.
