Reality Television might be bad? Trash? From Survivor to Gordon Ramsay's million shows, these shovelware video games have been on EVERY console. Nintendo? Playstation? You bet. So I decided to play as many as I could. Is it all of them? Probably not... but I tried my best.

What's a reality tv show you'd like to see as a game? This a question no one has ever asked, but I'M DOING IT.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support and views! We're having a bit of a scorcher over here in Texas but I'm hanging in there. Hopefully this video will help cool down your day! With you know, a big pile of trashy shovelware. Everyone's favorite.
Legends of the Hidden Temple. Doesn't even have to be perfect, maybe like the same quality as that unreleased Atmosfear SNES game.
I'm a sucker for baking shows, so a Cooking Mama like game with extra customization for your food for something like the Great British Bake-Off would be tons of fun.
I noticed u bring up your "partner" in videos. The fact you call them your partner makes me think you're gay. Do you care to confirm or deny
Great analysis video as always!
Ninja Warrior has always been a big thing in Japan, where it used to be called "Sasuke", and seems to have been made more accessible as it's taken off in the states. MXC was a was dub over an entirely different game show called "Takeshi's Castle".
I worked QA at Activision in the mid 2000's and I actually spent a couple weeks on Pimp My Ride. The most fun thing to do was intentionally fail the Ghost Ride the Whip segments. Watching the animations of the guy flubbing the dance moves was the only real enjoyment I got out of the game but that's more than anyone would expect.
Guess I'm an idiot for enjoying the game😂
Well... you're just a QA so whatever
So that's why! You were lazy and didn't do your job!
E-40 shakes his head in disappointment
The quality of the dance flubs was *assured*
Fun fact 0:53 that kid sucking at sonic is actually Melissa Joan heart also known as the original Sabrina the teenage witch
So I watched World's Scariest Police Chases when it was on syndication in the 2000s. That part where you chase a tank? That was actually shown in one episode of the show, where someone in San Diego drove a tank through the city and like a dozen police cars were chasing it. No, really.
King Of The Hill made an episode based on it, and Megadeth made a music video based on it.
My friend and I actually had a lot of fun with renting World's Scariest Police Chases back in the day. He really liked driving games, but I didn't. So a driving game that we could play together and I didn't have to drive was actually a lot of fun for us.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Kinect was having trouble just because Austin was standing in front of a glass cabinet. The reflective surfaces would probably mess with the 3D mapping lol
That was the issue
Definitely such a bizarrely niche era of gaming that truly fascinated me .
Its actually insane that Legends of the Hidden Temple never got a video game
A video game based on the concepts introduced in the show sounds amazing, kinda like the TV movie.
But a beat-for-beat video game recreation of what it's like to be a contestant on the show sounds awful.
There actually was a Jersey Shore game on facebook's game service many moons ago. It was, I shit you not, a turn based action rpg. And it was decent, lol. They took it down after a few years but I have fond memories of playing it on the school's library computers.
There's a particular game show video game I hope gets made one day: You know that old Nickelodeon game show called Finders Keepers? The game where contestants completely trash a room under a time limit trying to find the one object that satisfies a given clue?
Well, imagine this: *Finders Keepers... VR.*
that sounds like complete chaos. i absolutely love it.
You are a true man of culture. You are very meta.
Need AAA companies to do VR games. Only Alyx was a genuinely impressive vr game since the advent of vr games. Vr isn’t ready for indie games
Finally, someone giving a little bit of appreciation for "Rollergames" on the NES. That game had such an underrated soundtrack.
When we found out we were getting a WII, my brother and I went to work figuring out what games we wanted. We were expecting two games each, but made lists so mum had options. My list had Mario Galaxy, Ghostbusters, Red Steel 2 and a few others.
The big day came and we tore in. The games we got were the included Mario Kart, Just Dance, Lego Batman and a game based on the TV show Golden Balls...
I was super confused. Turns out, to my disbelief,my brother had seriously put Just Dance and Golden bloody Balls at the top of his list. When I asked the adults about the other choices I was told "well, it comes with Mario so we're not getting another and you like Batman so you got Batman."
Being older, my brother would often use "my game" Batman to bully me. Pushing me off ledges, killing me on loop and laughing in my face until I got upset and stop playing... at which point he'd Play Golden Balls for hours. He was like 12. Weird kid.
This channel has grown a lot, but I feel like it's still really underrated. Great stuff!
that's because it is, under 300k subs is criminal. I've been watching for years and the quality only gets better
I've been watching him, caddicarus, pbg and antdude since 2016 ^_^
@@Fluorite-Fox Caddy never fails to cheer me up when I'm feeling down, he's just such a little goofball lol
@@KitterKatter-vv2rz yeah Caddy always makes me laugh till my stomach hurts and tears come out my eyes XD
It would probably be better if he wasn’t a groomer supporter
Back in late 2009, Xbox Live had a live 1 vs. 100 event every week. It was a ton of fun and, sadly, short-lived.
My favorite dead game, and genuinely one of the coolest things ever done with Xbox Live. So sad Microsoft hasn't really attempted to do anything like it again.
The world was not ready for a Pawn Stars console game. Something like this could've definitely been a big meme goldmine or at least another gaming flop to laugh at.
Wow, what a smart idea, very clever
Look up dealer’s life
It used to actually be pretty big in the early 2010s when it worked with adobe flash on Facebook when they still offered hundreds of games
I think Forged in Fire would make a good game. An intricate forging simulation mixed with getting to use your creation to chop up pig carcasses and bamboo like on the show sounds like a lot of fun.
This sounds like the perfect VR game.
The amount of ubisoft in this is somehow expected and disturbing at the same time.
Dumb comment
The ps2 and psp versions of Jackass are super fun and accurate representations of the source material honestly
I loved the original Wipeout game for Wii! I’d play it all the time with my friends. It was both simple and funny with the rag doll physics, and the ability to shoot balls at your friends during their turns added a good touch of asymmetric gameplay.
I used to go over to my friend's house and play it when I was little! I agree it was always a funny time
I could be wrong about this but in the American Gladiator game, it's not telling you who you're playing AS, but who you're competing AGAINST. There was a stable of regular gladiators on the show and the premise was that non-roided athletes/almost regular people would compete against these 80s bodybuilder archtypes. The gladiators were like the star actors ig, which is why the game only tells you about them cause no one cares about Jeff from accounting trying to relive his high school glory days.
I think a Race Across The World videogame could work. There'd be resource management to make sure you stay within budget, mini games for when you take the jobs to try and earn money back, stats like charisma etc for when you try and pursuade people to give you a ride rather than risking public transport, some kind of first or third person exploration for when you're trying to find a checkpoint or the location to book your transport/accommodation. Give it some kind of online functionality so you can play against humans rather than AI, as I think it could be tricky to programme ai, unless it learns from previous players' performance.
I didn't have a Battle Bots branded game, but I do have Robot Arena: Design & Destroy on the PC by Infrogames. It's got a pretty in-depth robot designer where you can basically do whatever you want as long as you can fit the parts and get it wired.
Yeah I used to have that one growing up as well, it's probably not worth the trouble trying to get it to run on modern hardware but it was a fun time.
Worlds Scariest Police Chases was one of the only games i had on my playstation and holy heck that brings back memories , i loved that game!
You missed out on Takeshi’s Castle for the NES Power Pad, not to be confused with the far more infamous Takeshi’s Challenge for the NES
Honestly, a game where you go though the Shrine of the Silver Monkey would be really fun as a kid.
As somebody who grew up and actually got Monster Garage and American Choppers new, I gotta say that once you figured out the not-so-perfect controls, it actually wasn't an unenjoyable experience, especially if you watched the shows. They were one of things both me and my dad enjoyed watching together, so he got me the games. While American Chopper was very simple, it was cool getting to ride motorcycles we watched get built on the show. However, I can't say that they were good games at all despite the fun I had with them. I actually still have them both (and the second one American Chopper 2: Full Throttle) on my shelf. I'm tempted to replay them, but I'm afraid to ruin the nostalgia lol. Rant aside, I love the video and keep up the content.
Cool
In terms of cooking games, I had Food Network Wii game called Cook or Be Cooked. Not based on any existing show, but I unironically had a blast with it.
growing up, my family had an Iron Chef game on PC and I to this day insist that that game was impossible to beat because once you got to a certain level, the combinations you were offered for whatever sort of dish you could make just did not work none of the combinations worked I have played that game so many times, my mother played that game so many times, and none of them were winners I swear
Fun Facts:
1. "Amazing Race" was also released on Mobile, and the only difference is that it's single player. It's otherwise the same.
2. There's another reality TV show game called "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here" released for the Wii in the PAL regions. It is essentially the same game as "Survivor" for the Wii.
"My buddy Vimm" lol.
He's all our buddy 👌
I have a huge guilty pleasure for mystery hunting or ghost hunting shows. I know a lot of it ain't real...but man it's like campfire stories with more screaming and aggressive editing
Here in Sweden, Robot wars and Gladioterna were broadcast on tv4, of which TV4 had its own flash games on there website.
Both of these were online based, of which had upward to 400k playing t the theme shows glory days.
AUSTIN! I just wanted to say that i love your channel and have enjoyed your videos ever since you were like boko no eruption or whatever lol, and then arcadia (i loved that name) and till now, basically i've been supporting you since you were at 7000 subs, it's amazing to see you grow to past a quarter of a million subs and how good your videos have gotten, your channel and game sack are comfort videos for me, theyre easy watching that i can enjoy when i'm developing games or any other task, instead of video essays which always make you think and force you to really apply lots of logic while watching lol, your videos are good and are just enjoyable fun, never stop, i'll keep supporting you!! keep it up bro
This is like, a minor thing... but in American Gladiators you're not playing AS the gladiators, you are playing against them. You're just some random contestant like in the show.
Thanks for the love for Rollergames on the NES. A one-time rental I remember fondly. I hadn't seen one episode of the show, onIy discovering it when looking up the game on RUclips years ago. So dope 😊
that American Gladiators show reminds me a lot of the Games Without Frontiers show we had here in Europe where teams from several countries would compete against each other in similar games like the one from that show, it even got Peter Gabriel to make a song out of it
I remember playing that first Survivor pc game back when I was a kid. The only thing I remember doing was just walking around in the world. I dont think I learned how to talk to anyone, do any challenges, or even get to the 1st event. It was just too advanced for my stupid child brain
The wipeout games were my childhood the ragdoll physics were superb. Made me and my friends giggle like crazy
Beating pimp my ride on ps2 last year was one of my crowning achievements for my channel
If there isn’t already something comparable, I need a Crystal Maze video game- but only if it’s the Richard O’Brien version
There is the knock off, Fort boyard game.
They did make a Crystal Maze game... for MS-DOS
Had to laugh at 0:53 saying “sorry kid” to Clarissa. 😂
I feel like you could totally make some of these work as point-n-click adventure games. There were a few of those even on the NES back in the day so it's not unheard of. COPS would work really well, hell there's already the Police Quest series, as would Man vs Wild, but that genre is so adaptable almost anything fits. In fact the more I think about it Man vs Wild could be legit good! Finding items for shelter and basic supplies is perfect adventure game content.
As for the more drama-heavy shows, why not go with Telltale style adaptations. Make them all about dialogue. Or with The Bachelor/ette, it's a dating sim already!
CGI Gordon Ramsey looks like he belongs in the first two Fallout games
The Robot Wars PC game was actually pretty cool, with full robot customisation. It was janky as hell but really fun!
Austin thanks man for making this content as soon as your videos drop I I'm listening to it playing a game, and you seem to pick the best background music keep it up man
I would legit play a Cooking Mama game but with Gordon Ramsay.
Was really hoping as this went on there was going to be a Wife Swap game for the Wii/PS2 I didn't know existed.
I really love and appreciate you throwing in some recommendations too! I love your videos so much. Keep it up and thank you for the hard work!
Scariest police chases was a monumental nostalgia drop thanks for another wicked video Austin!! Recently subbed!
Funny you mentioned American Gladiators AND Rollerderby, when Netflix did a docuseries on American Gladiators, with a slight mention of Rock and Rollerderby. Hopefully this will entice more viewers here.
Didn't the guy for Man vs Wild end up getting caught out for not actually trying to survive in the wilderness, but instead staying in hotels between shoots?
Memories unlocked... My dad had the Monster Garage game and now the theme song is flooding back 😂
most of these Activision games were made on the tony hawk pro skkater engine. they sure did get alot of mileage out of that engine
Just want to come out here and say Wipeout for the wii was absolutely goddamn hilarious but in the ways you wouldn't expect.
There's a section near the end of the game where you jump over barrels, but it was more fun to get hit by them because the physics in that game was so toasted that you flew off like the barrels were made of solid iron.
I'm glad you mentioned "world's scariest police chases" it's a great driver clone.
i had the wipeout game for the wii as an older kid, was a fan favorite for my non gamer friends! we all had so much fun
5:17 That would make for a good death scream in a horror game for the NES!
I loved World's Scariest Police Chases, just a Driver clone but with that guy doing the intro to each mission.
I had that wired wipeout Kinect game it worked alright for me it was really fun with my family taking it in turns
The fact that the DS game for survivor was the only one with true 3D was crazy
Keep up the great work, man!!....Your videos keep getting better and better ✌️ ☮️
It would be cool to get a game that emulates those old video game challenge TV shows, from a company that has a solid back catalogue of games, that they could put in as the mini games.
Great analysis video as always!
When your grandma picks up games from CVS
In my childhood I absolutely loved the world's biggest police chases on ps1, seriously. And I didn't even know that it was based on a tv show, because in my country we didn't have it on tv.
The Vimm shout out made me laugh ifykyk
'Hit up your buddy Vimm', nice shout-out, I almost missed that. Thank God for Vimm.
Gold Rush The Game was hilariously a really fun tycoon to play. I only have 27 hours logged on Steam, but it was a fun 27 Hours.
I think this is the first video of yours that there hasn't been a single game I wanted to try
Great video like always
Videos like this is why your channel is great!!
This felt like I watch a VH1 I love the "Reality TV Show Video Games" count down show or something
Shoutout to World's Scariest Police Chases. Genuinely loved that game, against all odds.
I got Weakest Link at the same time I got WWF Smackdown. You can imagine which one I played more.
Huh. Honestly, it never dawned on me that World's Scariest Police Chases was based off a TV show, I just thought it was a game with an eccentric title. It played well enough to not even be considered on the same tier, tbf, which is likely why.
You were indeed right, though, it was a blast of nostalgia. Back to the days where I had fantasies of being a cool police officer and... yeah nvm, those aren't good days to remember.
You must have become a complete loser if that's the case.
4:25 Buffalo sabres ! ugh i remember that goal too lol
I loved world's scariest police chases was so dope when it came out. I absolutely loved it. I still play it now days here and there but it definitely didnt hold up well
Weird he would call it fearmongering. But that is a person in 2023 that probably didn’t grow up with it so he just assumes everything from his current POV.
@@TheLoneGamr What is that DumbPOV
Thought you might have covered the "American Idol" video game where the singing is just tapping the button at the right time hahaha.
The fact that I’m binging the american gladiators docuseries and the first two games featured are the AG game and Rollergames - the algorithm really popped off today
Gotta make another one of these just didn’t want the video to end😢
I got wipeout for the xbox 360 kinect and I actually had a lot of fun with it. I remember playing with friends and laughing at our avatars ragdolling
0:44 Whichever producer chose Super Ghouls n Ghosts for Nick Arcade was truly evil.
It was the equivalent of expecting little kids to speedrun Dark Souls 2 on-stage. (And I enjoyed every minute of it.)
Man vs Wild also has netflix choose your own adventure style games.
I've played them with friends before, we basically tried to do everything would could to kill Bear Grills, but its actually very hard to lose.
I remember when my mom got us jeopardy for the xbox. We all played it together and had a lot of fun actually. The Wipeout game for kinect was also fun
Netflix actually has some mobile games based on some of their reality shows on their platform. There's one based on its baking competition Nailed It! The show features amateur bakers try to recreate cakes in comical relief to win $10,000, and the game has you try to do the same things as the show but in the form of a video game Cooking Mama style. But the most iconic one is the one based on their hit dating show Too Hot to Handle. The show features a group of contestants where try to find love but a virtual assistant named Lana is refraining them from having any sexual activities, because if they do, the group loses money to their potential $200,000 prize pot. In the game, you play as your own Original Character on the show, in a visual novel meets Telltale and basically that app Episodes, where you make your own choices trying to find love and interact with the other contestants and you can also even break the rules.
The only "reality TV" video game I've ever owned was American Gladiators on the SNES, and I picked it out myself. It was...serviceable.
I hate reality TV but if you put Gordon Ramsey in it I would watch just about anything, Kitchen Nightmares is a guilty pleasure.
American Chopper 2 unlocked a hidden memory of mine. I only own this game because it was in a bundle with Tony Hawk's Underground back in the day at Costco.
"Camera shaking more than a Bourne film!" 😅
The Bad Girls Club game. Throw the mattress in the pool. Get drunk. Gang Jump the roommate you were friends with 39 minutes ago.
thankfully we did get a great Ninja Warrior/ABC Wipeout game: Fall Guys
i feel Survivor would be great for a Sims + Mario party game, where the Sims part recreates the drama but also gives you buffs & debuffs for the Minigames... but your idea of Among Rust actually sounds better
Wipe Out as a party game and Man v Wild as survivor game actually have potential to be good in my opinion
7:09 that song sounds like a remix of Rockin' Cats on NES.
Deal or No Deal in the arcade fucking slaps though, especially when you get a crowd.
Loved Pimp My Ride on the PS2 back in the day, though I would just use the controller glitch to play around with the cars.
I loved the whip out games!
Those meal kit things are for people who don’t know how properly seasoned food tastes 😂 my wife and I have tried two different ones and they all taste like hospital food
My dad rented Wipeout 2 on the Wii from Redbox for my birthday once. I remember having fun with it. We later bought the game but maybe plaued it once or twice. Not a lot of content from what I remember
I used to play the GBA Battlebots game quite a bit! It was really fun.. to early-year middleschool Alex 😅
This vid was hilarious 😂😂😂 i never knew almost all of these existed.
