    After rewatching my Logitech BRIO 500 review (ruclips.net/video/e3rbaeGVYJs/видео.html), there was a firmware update installed on the BRIO 500 before I shot this video. It appeared to have corrected the focus hunting I experienced in my initial tests, and you'll also notice that the native color tuning is also better with minimal adjustments (it's much less purple). Those things plus the auto-framing make it a great choice - kudos to the product team and whoever worked on the firmware update at Logitech. 🙂👍

      Hi Jeremy, I have literally been going nuts, reading, watching, searching reviews, wash, rinse repeat, looking for a reasonable upgrade from my cheap $40 webcam. The only holdup for me is being nervous about shopping on amazon, just because of horror stories I have read in reviews. There probably isn't one kind of webcam on amazon without negative reviews of problems ranging from not working, to poor quality. Many of these reviews on youtube don't get into the "alleged" problems that people report.
      I am looking at a$150 max spending for a cam, but I am not going to be doing any live streaming, just content recording with no moving around, just sitting at a desk talking, etc, but trying to find the best quality for my budget(I have an external mic as well). At the same time, I hate taking risks with something that may quit working after a couple months and not be be able to return it. Where I live, most electronics, in the stores have a 1 year warranty. If it breaks down, just simply take it back to the store. Do you have some advice in what my best bet would be for a reliable webcam ? (considering my budget and circumstances) ? Thanks 😉

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад +2

      @@forlostsouls01 Amazon reviews can be pretty daunting. i don't think you can go wrong with the Brio 500. It's new, so there is still firmware update support, the image is better than previous generations in terms of color balance, software has improved and it works with Windows UVC controls. Amazon reviews also give it 4.4/5 at the moment. I'm not a huge fan of small sensor 4K cameras and I think you'll be fine with 1080p resolution. It's more about your lighting and audio to be honest, versus worrying about 1080p or 4K.

    The year is 2024 and the C920 still carries for the price point. I find that most of it short comings can be fixed with proper lighting. If you really want to step up from a webcam, just buy a camera and you will see real quality difference for the amount of money spent. This is just my opinion.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  8 месяцев назад +5

      I agree. Another tip for lighting is if you use RGB lighting with the C920, because it's exposure and white balance metering the entire frame, manually set white balance, tune it to your face first, then tweak the color of your background lights to match what a human eye would see. I just got this process down, and it's why earlier videos were very purple or yellow hued, but Logitech (and Nexigo) cameras are very hard to dial in when you have a blue or other colored background, or use green or bluescreen

    I have the C920 and I am really satisfied with that - I had it for ages already, but I don't mind keeping it over the Brio 500 'cause for me there wasn't that much difference to it... What I could have wanted besides this is a wifi webcam to have further away from the main desktop and use in that setting... but I don't know where to look for this!? -However: thanks for the comparison video Jeremy -very helpful! -Arnt Petter from Norway 😀

Indeed we are fiber artists not computer specialists, and we use zoom at our monthly guild meetings so that people who are a long way away can participate. So… Would it be possible to arrange a consultation with you about everything that we're trying to accomplish and help us understand whether we're on the right track or not. The Tech Team will be meeting this coming Monday afternoon Denver time to review everything we have gathered thus far. My intuition tells me that a formal consultation may be way more beneficial for all concerned… If that would be possible for you. Thanks for even considering this strange request. A really useful comparison. These logitechs seem to have a functional microphone, whereas so many devices have the bucket in an empty cell sound. (in reviews anyway).
    Oddly the brio 505 varient is super discounted at the moment in the UK, so I'm trying to work out what the differences are.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад +2

      I believe some of the variants are just finish and packaging. The initial ones were very much trying to look like recycled materials with different color speckles, other variants are full black. Then others have retail packaging vs. brown cardboard boxes (business packaging).

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад +1

      For mics, the other general observation I'm finding with budget webcams and their internal microphones is that it really does come down to microphone placement and how close it is to your mouth. So for that to work, you need a wide angle lens and to bring the webcam physically closer to your face so your head doesn't fill the frame.

      @@DeployJeremy a bit of searching implies that the business cams use a different management software to update the firmware, whereas the consumer ones use G Hub software. Both types use the same camera management software.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад +2

      Sorry for the late reply, RUclips filtered this one for some strange reason. I think the Logi Tune software now does both enterprise and consumer. Optional TL;DR reading: Having worked in IT for device management, I can imagine how G Hub wouldn't be added to an enterprise software catalog or a standard OS image install sequence. Support terms aside, it's big, the auto-updating (assuming it can't be silently disabled during setup), gaming peripheral RGB support, and because it looks gamer-y, it wouldn't be added. That's a bit of a shame, because the Blue Voice microphone tuning software would be usable in the enterprise and help for remote work. The camera settings app and Logi Tune compared to G Hub seem relatively lightweight in comparison.

      I actually have both (I have 6 total Logitech C9x cameras 😐), but the C920 seems more common and more searched for, so I tend to use it. Logitech did update internals and optics over the years. The C922 in theory should outperform the C920. I've seen this in bright and naturally lit shots, but in my environment (dark with RGB lights) the differences seem pretty negligible.

    • @DeployJeremy

      I don't have a 100r monitor to test, but I don't see why it wouldn't. The base is adjustable with a friction foot. The rear of the foot has adhesive for pivoting the camera up/down for top-down shots. You may be limited pivoting your camera up/down frequently if the adhesive isn't making full left-to-right contact, but should be fine for straight on normal filming

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад

      Sorry for the delay, RUclips moved this reply to "Held for review" for some reason. 60fps is fine, these adapters don't materially impact USB bandwidth for normal 5 and 10 Gb incoming connections. They might impact 40 Gb Thunderbolt speeds and other aspects, like charging and DisplayPort out, but you don't need to worry about that for a 1080p60 incoming camera feed.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад

      They are the same camera from what I can tell. The 500 is the retail model and 505 is the business model. Often that means the packaging is more muted and recyclable (cardboard box), but I would guess that support and servicing terms are also different. Both have graphite, white, and rose color options with a fixed USB-C cable.

      2) what does business mean ? Would the Brio 505 be good for steaming gaming ?
      3) And can you zoom in and zoom out quick and easy with the Brio as your streaming

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад

      @@Wroyals_World_W That's a tough call. As a game streamer only, I'd say the Elgato Facecam by a fraction. As a great all around and easy to use, remote work + streaming webcam, I'd normally recommend the Brio 500/505. Elgato Facecam also does not have an internal mic, but I'm guessing that as a streamer, you have one already. If not, for sound quality alone and low price, I really like the Razer Seiren Mini - the only thing it's missing is real time monitoring. I hate wearing headphones for long periods of time, so I'm OK with it, but you may want real time monitoring for game streaming.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Год назад +1

      There shouldn't be an impact on quality using a USB adapter, especially at 1080p. I use them all the time. Quality would only potentially get impacted if the USB A port doesn't have enough bandwidth to support data transfer. For example, USB 2.0 trying to transfer a 4K video will sometimes result in the camera going down to max resolution of 1920x1080 and disabling 4K.
