Blows my mind that in 2022, with high end cellphones having incredible cameras, webcams still look like trash except for a few exceptions. It does feel like companies just keep using the same old crappy sensor on every sub 200 webcam
The reason is in your comment, Sub 200, they have to meet a price point because most consumers don't want to pay more than that for a webcam, how good of a webcam can they possibly buy for sub 200. It's more about features now a days, logitech is just trying to keep up it seems.

well to be fair phone cameras aren’t particularly good but they have a major advantage of using software and digital effects that make them look way better than most webcams. that being said i would still love webcams getting better software support

Linus tech tips, JayZtwocents, Gamers Nexus all call out companies. Linus tech tips will tell you that the video is sponsored by a company, and still say it was a horrible. Newegg had to change the way they do returns because of gamer Nexus calling them out. And Jayztwocents will not review certain products, because everything that everybody makes for that type of product sucks. So he is not gonna waste his and our time.
Appreciate honest videos like this so much. I bought the Brio 4k back in 2020 and have been consistently disappointed in the image quality and the focus drifting in and out all the time, not to mention the colour shift, even when you try and use it manually. I'd argue that C922 looked sharper, albeit more contrasty with the black levels looking more crushed. I also thought that the images they showed of "bad" looking webcams looked a lot like the Brio image quality too. Yikes.
Yeah gotta respect that, I didn't peg Frank for being honest. Standing up for the consumer is a rare thing, ususally they're all just sellouts. Grateful for Gamers Nexus, Hardware Unboxed, AdoredTV and a few other awesome genuine tech channels
Good to hear some tough love. Sick of people taking both sides of obvious wrong doing and saying shit like "well, I see what they were thinking" or "I get where they're coming from." Enough is enough is enough. Companies need to start being accountable for their purposeful landfill garbage. You want to actually reduce, reuse and recycle, this is exactly a perfect example.

Glad you're bringing light to this, I spent ages looking around for a good webcam but so many of them looked rubbish! In the end I resurrected my Canon 600D and used that as a webcam, just as good and cost me nothing!
This was spot on. Way to call them out. My company buys the C925e for our offices and for what they use it for it works, 1080 @30fps. Conference calls and Teams it's fine. We are still looking for a product to use when making presentations, live and recorded. Keep up the good work. Thank You.
Would love to see a comparison between the Brio 4k which came out in 2017 and the Logitech StreamCam and Brio 500 who are supposed to be "newer and better"
Logitech has been doing these scams for years with their meeting solutions. My boss bought two Logitech Meetups, which are 700 bucks... and from the specs, it looks amazing. They talk about how it's 4K and has "HD zoom"... and then you boot it up and look at barely 720p image upscaled to hell. When you zoom in it is so pixelated it's unreal. Their "HD zoom"? It's a poor digital zoom that they don't even advertise properly and to find if it's digital or not (I had a long argument with my boss on this and he just wouldn't believe me that there's no way in hell that's optical zoom, so I dug for specs as proof) you need to actually go to their support page and there at product info, you will actually see the proper specs. It's embarassing.

I have an OLD C720 webcam from them and I still love it for the price I paid years ago. Works just fine when I live streamed and over the years webcams in the $80-150 price range never really seem to be that good vs the older models.

This is exactly the type of review that I struggle to find online since most reviews are either too positive (in terms of conflict of interest) or too negative (but not suggesting anything alternative or going into specifics). A lot of online reviews these days are flat out as fake as the ads and we can’t trust star ratings anymore. Consumer Reports doesn’t have an extensive webcam catalog that they tested and don’t show you something that meets our high expectations. You saved me money in this because I was almost getting this repackaged webcam with fresh paint, subscribed immediately. You sir, are a rare gem!
Logitech stock has cratered over the past year. If one looks at the bios of the management team and board, they're all P&G / McKinsey / Harvard MBA types whose goal is invariably making the cheapest stuff most people will buy. No creatives. I'd bet an enterprising engineer could open up that $120 webcam, do a quick parts summary and cost analysis and shock most viewers. Off the top of my head I'd guess their cost for that camera is under $10. Great review (you should try to duplicate their shot of using it on documents and compare it to their ad). Someone save that ad in case they disappear it.
I think i could get a better out of the box experience as a webcam by using "Iriun Webcam" via wifi and just using my phone as a webcam. That's how at least i did my video calls when i was in school. It was stable for me and looked good enough to even use it as a webcam to stream to my friends with. If you are planning on using a cheapo way to have a webcam for a livestream for example. Just go with my recommendation to use your current phone as a webcam or even an old one you have laying around. You'll save money doing this and the quality isn't half bad if being honest. Definitely depends on settings and your phone but i highly recommend at least trying it.
You're the only RUclipsr for the past 10 years to make every video interest me. Even videos on subjects I dont care about I watch them all the way through. You're honest, you make high quality content and even show a better recommendation at the end of the video. Quality my brother.
This is pretty interesting. I hadn't heard about the Brio 500, but it's clear I'm not missing out on anything. The sad reality is that Logitech hasn't really released a good webcam since the Brio 4K which was back in 2017. It remains one of only a handful of webcams that offer 1080p or higher with Windows Hello support, and is honestly a pretty decent webcam That said, in some ways it's not as good as the even older C930e from 2013, which we'd still be using at work if not for the lack of an IR sensor. It's noticeably better than the C920 or C922Pro, and you don't need to remove the monitor mount to expose the tripod connector like you do on the Brio. Honestly if Logitech just added and IR sensor to the C930e and gave it a detachable USB cable and sold it for the $130 the C930e still goes for, they couldn't make them fast enough. I don't know the Brio 500 is more of a disappointment than the Streamcam, but the advertising is embarrassingly dishonest. The sad part is they don't need to do it.
Thanks for posting this and providing another option. Got the BRIO 500 today tried to set it-up, spent two hours trying to figure out why it wasn’t working in Teams. Then I discovered it doesn’t display the image through its own logitune, application, Packed it up and returning it tomorrow!
My main complaint is the fact that Logitech pairs software enhancers for image processing or filters. Most people, using these cameras for work, cannot instal non-IT approved software on their work laptop so the camera barely functions as expected.
I use a Logitech Brio (2017 release) 4K webcam and for the what $200 original cost the fact that Streamyard and RUclips don't even support 4K streaming 😂 I mean that 2017 Brio is now $130 as well and looks better than this 2022 release. Insta360 is just ridiculous compared to the Logitech Brio 500
So true, I had a c920 or c930 sometime ago and that did not even have hardware mirror mode. The quality here looks totally same. All they are doing is selling with a different enclosure.
Well done my guy! I've always been so confused as to why Webcam tech is *so* outdated looking. I believe linus did a review of Dash Cams and turns out they use 3 sensors overall as internals. Maybe its the same story here? Either way *Amazing* video. I love that you just straight called them out. As I type this comment on a G915 with a G503 and G903 on my desk with Z906 speakers hooked up to the control module and Subwoofer from their Z5500. I'm not a brand loyal guy but... somehow... i've ended up with that much Logitech stuff. I was always underwhelmed by their webcams but this dude WOW. lol the comparison is night and day.
Can I ask, since the Kiyo Pro is now around $99. Can you do a comparison of the Brio 500 and the Kiyo Pro along side other cameras within the price range?

Great Video! I too am very sick with the false advertising that's just allowed, or even expected from companies like this. Being a photographer - I wouldn't last a day if I showed photos that were different to what I could actually produce - but for these companies it's just another day!!! Unbelievable!
I did think this was going to one of them ones where you say they are lying, but it was going to be something minor...boy was I wrong, logitech is taking the P*** here for this and it is awesome that you have made this to call them out on it and to stop people wasting their money on this new webcam that is essentially just going to be a waste of money and time for them 👍👍
I am not in the advertising business, but from my limited experience that it could be very common they use fake footage / items / theme in the commercial. My relatives own an orange farm, and a big brand supermarket company (their advertising agency) is filming a TV commercial about cherry, and rent our farm to film it. There is no cherry in the farm. What the filming crew brought in was a lots of cherry made out of plastic, because the fake plastic cherry has the perfect shape / size / color.
Insta360 was the best purchase I made after watching your video and a few others. DSLR quality and easy install. Most Webcams are just not worth the cash these days in the mid-range.
I had looked at that page a few days back and the pink lady with blurred background mentioned 'most collaboration software programs will create the shown blur' but never once said different camera.

You should compare it against this $30 webcam I've been rocking for two years from Nexigo. I'm certain they would be similar in quality with this demonstration, if not better than the Logitechs you showed off.

Whoa. That Is a huge shift from the advert to the actual webcam, effectively the same as their 5 year old product. Even Logitechs own productivity mice are missing features like macro combinations, and I've even had issues with their automatic profile switching. Their gaming stuff is much better, even for productivity. I would avoid Logitechs non gaming stuff entirely.

While the brio quality looks super crunchy and bad i feel like comparing it against the insta 360 isn't fair at all. You wouldn't compare an iphone to a cinema camera so it feels like comparing logitech to a webcam 3x it's price isn't fair.
Not just webcams, their mouse and keyboards have all gone down hill. Constant double clicking issues on their most expensive products. I have G Pro Wireless mouse and G915 keyboard. Both suffered from double clicking issues. Then my mouse got me killed because during gunfights, it stops SHOOTING. it's a $150 mouse! I have a cheaper logitech mouse that is not only OLDER, but it still works!

I got a Streamcam instead of a Brio 4K because I didnt need 4K and the Brio was very expensive. The Streamcam was good for 1080P and has a much better microphone than my laptop. Most webcams need actual scene lighting to get the best result. Use more lights, and trim the camera settings.
Couldn't agree more. I'm pissed that I own so much of their stuff and over the years it's seems like you have less access to changing the hardware. Now with the issues behind reviews (mostly no response) has my trust on their products at an all time low. I own two brios, a mouse, and other countless peripherals from them for my family.

I agree that the shots that are clearly POV from the angle of the “webcam” need to be actual footage of the webcam, but nit picking some of the inconsistencies like the color of the pen or what’s being displayed on the screen from over the shoulder shots is a little much.

Considering you can get equal or better quality using an app to turn your phone into a webcam, even though the connection is slower. It’s just sad how bad most webcams are. When I was working as an intern at a church, we were looking into options for streaming the sermons. Eventually they just decided to take the audio quality hit and steam directly from an iPad.
I recently bought myself a Thustar 8MP Document Camera. Not only does it have manual focus and focus control it also comes with a highly adjustable flex arm to position it correctly above documents. And it's at 2448p 30fps. Splendid quality, and costs less than 100 bucks.

Logitech keyboards are also stuck , shorter that expected life of keys, and on mice they're still not moving to the low volt Omrons even though the D2F has that option for avoiding double click issue. other companies are trying out optical mechanical micro switches but logitech ...
Think that Harris Heller said something similar about most webcams when he tested Elgatos new camera, that all their footage is fake. Man that Insta360 Link looks so damn good.
However insta360 sell 3.5 times expensive in my local region than Brio 500, it's still a great option for me to get a brio 500 instead of link, kind sad

This seems a lot like those Nikon and Canon DSLR ads where they use other brand or higher quality products to make their ads, instead of the one they're marketing.
I want to say I agree with him. Ok, let's go back some years ago, I remember having my first bought computer and having just an inexpensive mic and a 20 bucks webcam. Back them, we mostly use text chats like mIRC and Windows live Messenger. Simpler times. We didn't need to get webcams cause those were for the professionals. Even now, conference call webcams still cost top dollar. Of course, with evolution and availability, webcams became sort of commodity, you could see your family and friends by PC. This was the era of Skype Calls, internet was starting to become more affordable and with speeds that could use voice and video software. Those were the times where when you had a webcam and used different softwares you simply needed ManyCam or the other alternatives to clone your webcam. HD was only in it's infancy, but with more larger sensors they could do 720p at a staggering 15 to 20 frames a second. Those who wanted more resolution would have "the infamous Logitech C920" the be all end all for webcams. Higher resolution, better image quality from a world apart over those 10-20 bucks webcams. Also those were the times were Facebook started to do video calls, google had hangouts to rival with Facebook ( still think although the many bugs it was precursor to zoom and I still miss it) and a lot of companies started to dive into web conference calls. You still had the pro webcams like polycam, Cisco's etc. For us consumers no more budget low quality resolution, we wanted full HD ... Options ? Buy a camcorder and link it to a PC. They were affordable-ish since smartphones started appearing. Still not a good portable solution and with no chance to sometimes do a simple video call. Logitech, of course, since they didn't have any real competition, started just putting out the same thing. People wanted resolution over quality. So, tweak a sensor by half an sell it. And so, Logitech become the only choice for webcams. Now, game stream happens, new demands fir resolution and 4K ... Logitech response double the c920 sensor, the brio 4K is born. Now, a new competitor comes in Elgato. 4K 60fps and ... a Sony sensor. Face Cam becomes the rage for streamers who use DSLRs to stream. Logitech was not for that, let them have it. They had still the c920's selling at the same price. And cheap cameras were also available from them. There was no incentive, until RUclips and Twitch became more popular. Still people would pay 50 to 70 or in my case 120 bucks to have a c920. People came from shitty webcams of their laptops and PCs to have better quality and better image from 6, 8 years ago. Pandemic hits. Work from home mandatory. Shit, don't have a webcam enter Amazon, go for webcams, Chinese brand webcams ( with sometimes better quality and cheaper than Logitech ) and Logitech c500's c700' and C900's. So for about 75 buck I get a webcam 6 to 8 years old, that doesn't need too much fuss. All I need is to zoom, to call my family .. That's it. Logitech is not for creators. Never was, never been. Is more for the consumer/prosumer that wants to work and get reasonable quality for not that much. If I want a webcam with 4k I pay the extra and buy the FaceCam rather than the brio. But, since this is more of a stream cam and from Elgato, they don't know the brand, they're not streamers. So, the TL;DR is: Logitech is good enough for office and home environment but not for streaming and other things.
I have the Brio 4K. I used at the beginning with a mac and it was incredible. Then with the new version of OSX 2 years ago and the new version of logitech capture, I never seen this camera performing as good as the beginning. I tried many cameras including the OSBOT mini 4k and it was less sharped that a 1080P camera. Nothing beats the camera on the iMac M1 24 inches. Even without the litra glow light. It looks amazing. Only thing I don't like it is the wide angle. I realised your skin tone, the clothes you are wearing, the decoration and the light of the room influences the quality of the image. Also the computer and the software you are using. Shocking to see how Logitech mislead their clients, it is so obvious when you analyse their advertising in details. Good on ya mate!

Glad you're bringing light to this, I spent ages looking around for a good webcam but so many of them looked rubbish! In the end I resurrected my Canon 600D and used that as a webcam, just as good and cost me nothing!

Yep that's why I won't support their newer models anymore. Plus the FaceCam is much better quality in the segment for a similar price.

Logitech has been doing these scams for years with their meeting solutions.
My boss bought two Logitech Meetups, which are 700 bucks... and from the specs, it looks amazing. They talk about how it's 4K and has "HD zoom"... and then you boot it up and look at barely 720p image upscaled to hell. When you zoom in it is so pixelated it's unreal.
Their "HD zoom"? It's a poor digital zoom that they don't even advertise properly and to find if it's digital or not (I had a long argument with my boss on this and he just wouldn't believe me that there's no way in hell that's optical zoom, so I dug for specs as proof) you need to actually go to their support page and there at product info, you will actually see the proper specs.
It's embarassing.

I have an OLD C720 webcam from them and I still love it for the price I paid years ago. Works just fine when I live streamed and over the years webcams in the $80-150 price range never really seem to be that good vs the older models.

This is exactly the type of review that I struggle to find online since most reviews are either too positive (in terms of conflict of interest) or too negative (but not suggesting anything alternative or going into specifics). A lot of online reviews these days are flat out as fake as the ads and we can’t trust star ratings anymore. Consumer Reports doesn’t have an extensive webcam catalog that they tested and don’t show you something that meets our high expectations. You saved me money in this because I was almost getting this repackaged webcam with fresh paint, subscribed immediately. You sir, are a rare gem!
Logitech stock has cratered over the past year. If one looks at the bios of the management team and board, they're all P&G / McKinsey / Harvard MBA types whose goal is invariably making the cheapest stuff most people will buy. No creatives. I'd bet an enterprising engineer could open up that $120 webcam, do a quick parts summary and cost analysis and shock most viewers. Off the top of my head I'd guess their cost for that camera is under $10.
Great review (you should try to duplicate their shot of using it on documents and compare it to their ad). Someone save that ad in case they disappear it.

I think i could get a better out of the box experience as a webcam by using "Iriun Webcam" via wifi and just using my phone as a webcam. That's how at least i did my video calls when i was in school. It was stable for me and looked good enough to even use it as a webcam to stream to my friends with.
If you are planning on using a cheapo way to have a webcam for a livestream for example. Just go with my recommendation to use your current phone as a webcam or even an old one you have laying around. You'll save money doing this and the quality isn't half bad if being honest. Definitely depends on settings and your phone but i highly recommend at least trying it.

This is pretty interesting. I hadn't heard about the Brio 500, but it's clear I'm not missing out on anything.
The sad reality is that Logitech hasn't really released a good webcam since the Brio 4K which was back in 2017. It remains one of only a handful of webcams that offer 1080p or higher with Windows Hello support, and is honestly a pretty decent webcam
That said, in some ways it's not as good as the even older C930e from 2013, which we'd still be using at work if not for the lack of an IR sensor. It's noticeably better than the C920 or C922Pro, and you don't need to remove the monitor mount to expose the tripod connector like you do on the Brio.
Honestly if Logitech just added and IR sensor to the C930e and gave it a detachable USB cable and sold it for the $130 the C930e still goes for, they couldn't make them fast enough.
I don't know the Brio 500 is more of a disappointment than the Streamcam, but the advertising is embarrassingly dishonest. The sad part is they don't need to do it.

Thanks for posting this and providing another option. Got the BRIO 500 today tried to set it-up, spent two hours trying to figure out why it wasn’t working in Teams. Then I discovered it doesn’t display the image through its own logitune, application, Packed it up and returning it tomorrow!
Not to mention that when the guy pointed the camera to the desk to show his drawings, the image would be upside down on the conference call! xD
My main complaint is the fact that Logitech pairs software enhancers for image processing or filters. Most people, using these cameras for work, cannot instal non-IT approved software on their work laptop so the camera barely functions as expected.

I use a Logitech Brio (2017 release) 4K webcam and for the what $200 original cost the fact that Streamyard and RUclips don't even support 4K streaming 😂 I mean that 2017 Brio is now $130 as well and looks better than this 2022 release. Insta360 is just ridiculous compared to the Logitech Brio 500

Well done my guy! I've always been so confused as to why Webcam tech is *so* outdated looking. I believe linus did a review of Dash Cams and turns out they use 3 sensors overall as internals. Maybe its the same story here? Either way *Amazing* video. I love that you just straight called them out. As I type this comment on a G915 with a G503 and G903 on my desk with Z906 speakers hooked up to the control module and Subwoofer from their Z5500. I'm not a brand loyal guy but... somehow... i've ended up with that much Logitech stuff. I was always underwhelmed by their webcams but this dude WOW. lol the comparison is night and day.

Being a photographer - I wouldn't last a day if I showed photos that were different to what I could actually produce - but for these companies it's just another day!!! Unbelievable!
I did think this was going to one of them ones where you say they are lying, but it was going to be something minor...boy was I wrong, logitech is taking the P*** here for this and it is awesome that you have made this to call them out on it and to stop people wasting their money on this new webcam that is essentially just going to be a waste of money and time for them 👍👍
I am not in the advertising business, but from my limited experience that it could be very common they use fake footage / items / theme in the commercial. My relatives own an orange farm, and a big brand supermarket company (their advertising agency) is filming a TV commercial about cherry, and rent our farm to film it. There is no cherry in the farm. What the filming crew brought in was a lots of cherry made out of plastic, because the fake plastic cherry has the perfect shape / size / color.
Insta360 was the best purchase I made after watching your video and a few others. DSLR quality and easy install. Most Webcams are just not worth the cash these days in the mid-range.
I had looked at that page a few days back and the pink lady with blurred background mentioned 'most collaboration software programs will create the shown blur' but never once said different camera.

Whoa. That Is a huge shift from the advert to the actual webcam, effectively the same as their 5 year old product. Even Logitechs own productivity mice are missing features like macro combinations, and I've even had issues with their automatic profile switching. Their gaming stuff is much better, even for productivity. I would avoid Logitechs non gaming stuff entirely.

While the brio quality looks super crunchy and bad i feel like comparing it against the insta 360 isn't fair at all. You wouldn't compare an iphone to a cinema camera so it feels like comparing logitech to a webcam 3x it's price isn't fair.
Not just webcams, their mouse and keyboards have all gone down hill. Constant double clicking issues on their most expensive products. I have G Pro Wireless mouse and G915 keyboard. Both suffered from double clicking issues. Then my mouse got me killed because during gunfights, it stops SHOOTING. it's a $150 mouse! I have a cheaper logitech mouse that is not only OLDER, but it still works!
I felt the anger in the ending monologue. It hurts twice as much when you know how to do things the right way and see someone doing it the wrong way.

I got a Streamcam instead of a Brio 4K because I didnt need 4K and the Brio was very expensive.
The Streamcam was good for 1080P and has a much better microphone than my laptop.
Most webcams need actual scene lighting to get the best result.
Use more lights, and trim the camera settings.
I got a logitech webcam years ago and had nothing but problems with it. They need to stick to mice.
I gave up on Logitech a long time ago, not being able to save your settings was a pain in the ....

I agree that the shots that are clearly POV from the angle of the “webcam” need to be actual footage of the webcam, but nit picking some of the inconsistencies like the color of the pen or what’s being displayed on the screen from over the shoulder shots is a little much.

Considering you can get equal or better quality using an app to turn your phone into a webcam, even though the connection is slower. It’s just sad how bad most webcams are. When I was working as an intern at a church, we were looking into options for streaming the sermons. Eventually they just decided to take the audio quality hit and steam directly from an iPad.

I recently bought myself a Thustar 8MP Document Camera. Not only does it have manual focus and focus control it also comes with a highly adjustable flex arm to position it correctly above documents. And it's at 2448p 30fps. Splendid quality, and costs less than 100 bucks.

Logitech keyboards are also stuck , shorter that expected life of keys, and on mice they're still not moving to the low volt Omrons even though the D2F has that option for avoiding double click issue. other companies are trying out optical mechanical micro switches but logitech ...

There was literally nothing good about it except one thing, also, great honest review, I've seen a lot of you tubers, who have been swayed by companies, to not say anything, or even bribed to say good things. This seems a lot like those Nikon and Canon DSLR ads where they use other brand or higher quality products to make their ads, instead of the one they're marketing.
I want to say I agree with him. Ok, let's go back some years ago, I remember having my first bought computer and having just an inexpensive mic and a 20 bucks webcam. Back them, we mostly use text chats like mIRC and Windows live Messenger. Simpler times. We didn't need to get webcams cause those were for the professionals. Even now, conference call webcams still cost top dollar. Of course, with evolution and availability, webcams became sort of commodity, you could see your family and friends by PC. This was the era of Skype Calls, internet was starting to become more affordable and with speeds that could use voice and video software. Those were the times where when you had a webcam and used different softwares you simply needed ManyCam or the other alternatives to clone your webcam.
HD was only in it's infancy, but with more larger sensors they could do 720p at a staggering 15 to 20 frames a second. Those who wanted more resolution would have "the infamous Logitech C920" the be all end all for webcams. Higher resolution, better image quality from a world apart over those 10-20 bucks webcams.
Also those were the times were Facebook started to do video calls, google had hangouts to rival with Facebook ( still think although the many bugs it was precursor to zoom and I still miss it) and a lot of companies started to dive into web conference calls. You still had the pro webcams like polycam, Cisco's etc. For us consumers no more budget low quality resolution, we wanted full HD ... Options ? Buy a camcorder and link it to a PC. They were affordable-ish since smartphones started appearing. Still not a good portable solution and with no chance to sometimes do a simple video call.
Logitech, of course, since they didn't have any real competition, started just putting out the same thing. People wanted resolution over quality. So, tweak a sensor by half an sell it. And so, Logitech become the only choice for webcams.
Now, game stream happens, new demands fir resolution and 4K ... Logitech response double the c920 sensor, the brio 4K is born. Now, a new competitor comes in Elgato. 4K 60fps and ... a Sony sensor. Face Cam becomes the rage for streamers who use DSLRs to stream. Logitech was not for that, let them have it. They had still the c920's selling at the same price. And cheap cameras were also available from them. There was no incentive, until RUclips and Twitch became more popular. Still people would pay 50 to 70 or in my case 120 bucks to have a c920. People came from shitty webcams of their laptops and PCs to have better quality and better image from 6, 8 years ago. Pandemic hits. Work from home mandatory. Shit, don't have a webcam enter Amazon, go for webcams, Chinese brand webcams ( with sometimes better quality and cheaper than Logitech ) and Logitech c500's c700' and C900's. So for about 75 buck I get a webcam 6 to 8 years old, that doesn't need too much fuss. All I need is to zoom, to call my family .. That's it. Logitech is not for creators. Never was, never been. Is more for the consumer/prosumer that wants to work and get reasonable quality for not that much.
If I want a webcam with 4k I pay the extra and buy the FaceCam rather than the brio. But, since this is more of a stream cam and from Elgato, they don't know the brand, they're not streamers.
So, the TL;DR is: Logitech is good enough for office and home environment but not for streaming and other things.
I have the Brio 4K. I used at the beginning with a mac and it was incredible. Then with the new version of OSX 2 years ago and the new version of logitech capture, I never seen this camera performing as good as the beginning. I tried many cameras including the OSBOT mini 4k and it was less sharped that a 1080P camera. Nothing beats the camera on the iMac M1 24 inches. Even without the litra glow light. It looks amazing. Only thing I don't like it is the wide angle. I realised your skin tone, the clothes you are wearing, the decoration and the light of the room influences the quality of the image. Also the computer and the software you are using. Shocking to see how Logitech mislead their clients, it is so obvious when you analyse their advertising in details. Good on ya mate!
