Everyone talks about "rebuilding". NO one talks about helping the people of Lahaina get their homes and lives back. All I heard was how big businesses will profit from the rebuilding of Lahaina.

If everyone gave a few dollars it would be a great amount together. Please give what you can as we move forward.

I am from Canada. I have been a tourist in Maui. I pray that Lahaina will be built for the locals, the way the locals want it to be built. Please don’t let commercialism take over.

according to this video only 100 people died in that huge fire. they didn't mention the injured and burn injuries are cruel. you can feel itching and pain for the rest of your life so i pray the injured find relief and healing. now take back the land!!!! despite what your said only 100 people died in the huge fire. the goddesses will not let their people suffer too much. the water has been coming back which was diverted since the plantations. this is a chance for native rule in Maui to take control. bit by bit Maui must come under native leadership, not land speculation.

@@user-vw2cx9wx6r this was true. I looked at a mapping of the reports. the fire made a triangle effect which then caused it to burn inwards causing a trap like effect which led to the lane closures on both sides

It makes me very uncomfortable seeing the native Hawaiians hugging the major. 😢 He is a criminal. Or, is it “keep your enemies close”. I hope so.

the people are greeting and hugging a rattlesnake! some of them seem to be oblivious to the fact that mayor Bissen allowed his emergency manager to leave the island under a severe red flag Fire and wind warning. Even with his knowledge that Maui has lack of emergency response resources, Mayor Bissen also waited 6 long hours before he called the state to deploy National Guard Troops to help rescue the elderly and immobile, many who were Hawaiians! In their desperate time of need, the native Hawaiians and residents of Maui and tourists were not sent the emergency help they needed! So, many suffocated and burned alive! I do not hug this, nor do I approve of this! something is seriously wrong with this and officials need to answer up for this! But do dogs have to answer up to dogs???? A criminal investigation is needed! Also, who gave the command to barricade innocent people into a gridlock with No escape? innocent people died and we the public want answers!

I don’t trust the Maui mayor , watching him embrace people makes my stomach turn! Then there is Biden with a gift to honor Lahaina, that too turns my stomach! I understand we all have to move on but I can’t forget the incompetence of the officials of Maui and the US government! And showing them as if they care ( to me) is sacrilegious to the land and people of Lahaina
The Mayor who is a very educated man and was a judge, fully knew that he could have immediately accessed troops on the ground from the state, in order to help rescue and save people from burning alive. Nobody even knows where he was on the afternoon of the 🔥 fire, nor does he explain his actions. Why did he wait 6 hours to call for help. 6 hours is a long time to wait in a disaster of this type, where people had been trapped burning alive on front Street and other people had to flee into the ocean and they were left there for 6 hours. Where anybody in their right mind could look and see the whole town had been leveled and he waited till 9:45 at night to call for help. Then Bissen lies and says he didn't know anybody died. Anybody looking at it,knew people died. It is just like Major General Hara lied and told the public that he didn't know how bad the fire was and there was nothing he could do anyway. Wow. Unbelievable. The state has a 24/7 warning point that has surveillance cameras on all the islands. The state knew there was a big fire at 3:00 p.m. the afternoon of the fire storm, but they chose not to respond and send troops. Why does the Public taxpayers money pay for these emergency responders....... Just so they can let people die in an emergency. I guess so. Maui and Hawaii do not have any proper emergency response system, that the people can rely on. But it is my opinion that all of this has been done on purpose, just too many abnormal things about this whole fire. Now there's not even any justice for the people who died or their families who suffer on. I don't understand how in America can police direct and trap people in a no exit road where they burn to death and 4 months later nobody's been arrested. All of this is as criminal and as corrupt as it gets and it makes me sick to my stomach.
It also makes me sick to see the corrupt mob members kissing and hugging on their victims., who are their own family members they chose not to protect from harm on the day of the fire. They have death in their community because of the highly abnormal and negligent responses from mayor bisson and his buddy brother, Herman Andaya, who did absolutely nothing to save his people. Nothing,as how the mob wanted it. This is very very sick sick sick stuff.

Bring Lahaina water back to the community. Unblock waterways for all to bring back Maui to how it was before it was stolen. Take back the water that rich mansions have blocked and bring back the multiple native plants.

What I’m hearing is that the Lahaina fire was a fire of the Phoenix and a chance for the people and the land to reclaim their heritage 🔥♥️

I visited Maui in 2009 and spent half a day in Lahaina. I didn't want to stay any longer because the commercialism was too intense, and it was so congested with tourists that it felt like I was being smothered by them. I hope that the new Lahaina is built in a manner that respects the history and people of the place. That was what I heard said in this video. As a visitor I would want to participate in the history and culture of Maui, and not see it become the "Tourist Trap" that it was back then.
When we used to visit my uncle as young kids back in the 70s, he said that he would go to Lahaina town early in the morning to get what he needed because he didn't like how crowded it became during the day.

The palakiko's homestead is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. They have water running through their land where it was once dry. I envision more abundance and strength for kauaula valley and restoration of the water for that whole ahapua'a

I can assure you of something. I looked into a few things....this fire was like a natural wall. new york times did an investigation. my uncle and aunty saw the fire from afar and they thought that it looked as if a triangle...new york times results...was shaped like a triangle. the fire started at the first tip in the mountains witih winds blowing outward then pushing back in
these winds created a triangle and trap effect; it sparked on both sides, and the wind pushed in it towards lahaina. the winds were like a blowtourch affected making sparks go everywhere. that's how the triangle was formed. we wonder if the police thought there was fire on one side, which is why they sent everyone back, not knowing, the fire engulfed all of them.
drought, has overt taken lahaina. as the video said, only 2 out of the 36 rivers are flowing. with this, the hotels take up millions of gallons a year. the plantation era derived many streams. area's that were untouched then are still flowing and green as of now. lahaina used to be called the venice of the pacific...we must bring back ahupua'a systems to recreate that reality. it can sustain us as it has with our anscestors. kaho'olawe, used to act as a natural barrier for clouds, pushing the clouds back to lahaina. when the island was test bombed, that natural barrier was no more.

@@DianaLynn-ql5tv eric west was pretty good for the first two weeks, however he went severely down will while supporting conspiracy theories which got loooots of people of maui including many of lahaina severely mad at him. this caused him to loose his job. he's been doing better, more legit stuff but wayyy too much conspirators in his comment section bring things down hill and it's not ok.
just to clear things up, no one from lahaina actually support the conspiracies 👍. but they do care for support as well as education about their community and what happened that day. eric west has gotten better yes, however, still some controversial stuff comin out from hhis channel, but alot less then 3 months ago. My heart goes out to the dear people of Lahaina and I continue to pray that they can get back to having the life that they had before, yet even better because the time will come not long from now according to the Scriptures that our Heavenly Father will rebuild their homes not only there, but to other parts of the world where people have lost them due to war, pain and suffering so that not only will those who yearn for a stable life of peace and security be there, they will show that they wish to remain on this beautiful earth that Christ Jesus gave his life as a “ransom Sacrifice” being the “Prince of Peace” and those who want to help their “neighbor” in Lahaina and even to the remote parts of this earth, will be able to do so with no more unhappiness ever again. Fight for the water and spread that seed thought to everyone so they can move on from this possible injustice that Eric West is bringing to light. Perhaps this needed to happen as sad and painful as that is and the ones who died will have died for a purpose, and that was to restore the water and proper sustainability of the island and its native people. Mother Earth has shed her skin for Maui to restore and rebuild a better Lahaina.

I thought in Hawallan Culture it is polite and a respectful gesture, that if one family group or singular Hawallan person wants to do some type of project on the other Hawallan people's land, then group or singular person goes to the other family to talk it over FIRST! Mayor Bissen, a Hawallan, never went to respectfully talk to the Olowalu Hawallan Residents before he decided and Reguested Olowalu be the dump site for the Fire ASH. this is rude and wrong and under handed. Tamara Paltin, a Hawaiian, and a County Council member, let this happen. This is not a loving or kind way to treat relatives! I really admire the residents of Olowalu! Loved the protest and beautiful testimony when the ancestors spirits entered the council chambers Mark my words, this, what was done, the dump at Olowalu, was wrong, wrong, wrong!

As a white person, I have also been an elected Hmong Leader and have fought for elderly blind and disabled people's rights! Also worked with San Francisco's immigration rights groups during the welfare reform. I have now been studying the Maui fire Massacre for 6 months! what do you do?
@@donnawolfe2365 aah. well just to warn you about your very first statement, yes, hawaiians are nice however we are also very very resistant and with that brave and tough. we don't actually "want" other peoples land. we all get respect for eachother + everyone family. Mayor Bissen is a hawaiian yes. if you watch a few things he has been working with the poeple of lahaina trying to figure something out, trying his best to work with him. like the guys in the video were saying, we shouldn't be asking "why this why that, how come, how come" we should be asking "what should we do and how should we do this. let's talk together to see what needs to be done". I do find the olowalu location unsuitable for a rough amount of reason, even if temporary. I do not know how deep Tamara went into studying the negative effects of putting the ashes in olowalu, however, this is oonly temporary. not the brightest of ideas yes, but it better stay temporary. ashes are naturally sustainabilities in life. these are toxic ashes, which poses a problem, but as the saying goes, from ashes there will be life. we'll find a way. trust me 👍. hello from kaua'i & former maui boy
@@808-PFH-Kanaka-Rights I think that probably everyone is an individual with individual values, with good and bad. when the Olowalu Hawaiians met with Bissen and officials at the after Bissen and council chose olowalu community meeting, one of the Hawaiian gentlemen told everyone that iti is customary in Hawaiian culture, that IF one group of Hawaiians, , such as Bissen and Council members, wanted to do some type of project, like a dump in another Hawaiian People's community, then it is customary for the people doing the project, first go to the People in the community and introduce themselves and introduce their Plan. Bissen and council did not do this, which in my opinion is very impolite and underhanded! No aloha on this one. So, I agree with the Olowalu Hawaiians. they are the ones who will suffer having to Live and breathe that Toxic mess! They will have to watch the Poison Leach Leak down thru the Cinder Cone into the Ocean, Poisoning the mother Coral Reef, the Mantas, the whale habitat, the sea life and aquifer. all of these problems with the dump could have been avoided if Bissen and council had followed what Hawaiian culture which is abiding and acting with.....aloha! of course, Bissen should not have put in the land use Request for Olowalu until the public was informed, had a chance to testify and do interactive workshops with the Mayor and the Council. I know what's right and what's wrong and this Olowalu Dump Deal was wrong! Then the Mayor never ensured the ash would be contained and stored Properly in shipping containers! wrong! watch Eddie Garcia's Drone footage of the burrito bags breaking open and then the ash is Bulldozed into the plastic and mud! what a messi . Transparency and Honesty is required when officials deal with the Public! Those are my cultural values! @@donnawolfe2365 you are correct about hawaiian customs as well as the fact of the matter that putting the ash in oluwalu is wrong. also, little fun fact about olowalu, it was a place of refuge in the old days. if you broke a law or was being outcasted, and you were from maui, olowalu is where you would go . that is why in 1790, when the Eleanora whom was captained by simon metcalfe, sent cannon fire onto those looking to trade from olowalu, no contact with foreign ships were allowed. the fair american was captained by simons son thomas. thomas sent anchor on the big island....he and all but one of his crew were thrown of board and beaten to death. do note, that before heading to maui, simon metcalfe was said to have flogged high chief kame'eiamoku, one of the 4 kona chiefs as well as the highest of his time for being a twin. the only person spared of death was isaac davis...one of the advisors of kamehameha. simon metcalfe soon went back to the big island never knowing about the death of his sons because of his doings, so he sent john young to investigate. john young never came back and was also put before king kamehameha. this event would change history forever. ok history lesson over, hope you learned something new!! 😊
