You might want to invest into an electric blanket. You could put it over your sleeping bag. I noticed you have power supply. You might be able to find a 12 volt blanket. You need to crack a window when using your little buddy heater or cooking. Both put off moisture. Depending on your budget, will determine what insulation you use. Just remember weight!! Good luck. My husband and I camped in our truck for many of year. Now in our 60's we have a van.😀
I love the idea of the mr buddy- I live above 10,000ft altitude where those don’t work unfortunately. Even over the Denver altitude they’re no good. Lower oxygen amounts. 🤦♀️
It’s so beautiful. I have health conditions that keep me from traveling. Thank you so much for doing this. It makes me feel like I’m right there with you. 💙💙💙💙
I went to school with Jonathan. We played baseball together in middle school with a few other friends. Jonathan was catching and a player collided with home and broke jonathans arm he got up didnt yell cry or cuss once, just stood up and said ow that hurt, not knowing he broke his arm yet. Then went back and tried to play again. Most badass thing I've seen on the baseball field
A good way to stay warm when sleeping in the winter is to change your socks to clean, dry wool socks & to wear a beanie or some kind of wool hat. A pad of reflectex also helps to reflect the heat back toward you & insulates against the cold air under the mattress.
Rule - always always have peanut butter just in case u can't cook. I will have dried cranberries, peanut butter, and crackers. That way u know u won't stare to death.

You would stay warmer and cooler if you insulate your canopy, specially if you use a reflectex with a 1/2 air gap. I have a similar set up but everything is insulated including the truck bed, and with all of that I’ve been comfortable at -35f. I always bring more than I use, extra 20gal fuel, 20gal water, 20lbs of propane, and food for 4 weeks. You will have more room if you are closer to the floor, which will let you set straight up. Get the most out of 22sqft is an accomplishment that most people will never understand, but is doable with design and configuration always changing.
One tip. Don,t park next to a building with alot of snow on the roof. It can slide off the roof and onto the you. A buddy of mine had his car crushed flat.
I'm getting my very first suv this weekend in 5 years. I just started to learn about building and architecture. I took shop class and a lot of design and theater in high school and college so I can't wait to put it to use in my first tiny home. Then, maybe a creation of a home business as well as working for Railcrew Express when I get out of my second Master's degree. YEAH!
TIP: To get rid of the condensation, crack your window just a smidge and the condensation will go out the window. If you have 2 windows, just crack them both and the condensation will escape through the cracks. You don't need the windows wide open, just crack. Try it.
I think YOU have a dope rig, could use a windshield. I took my truck to Ohio from the Gulf Coast of Alabama, i slept in the back on the way up and back, never dun that and always wanted to, it was 30 degrees out and 31 degrees in, i had the little buddy and a thermal through/thro/throw, worked perfect, warm and cozy.
Wear a sweatshirt with a hoody to cover your head when you sleep this will keep your head warm and will prevent your body heat to scape via your head. It works and keeps you warm.
Like your quick change. Your forgot to close your truck door! That's alot of snow. Just like we have here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Thank you for sharing this video. It was great travelling with you and camping out. Drive safe! Keep safe! God bless you on your next adventure. 😘
Jonathan - you're a bad boy for leaving all that snow on the roof of the truck/cap. Where I live in Canada, we can receive a fine if we don't clear the snow/ice from the roof of our vehicle because if it blows off as you drive and blocks the view of the driver behind you it could cause an accident.
Thanks for the heads up! Makes total sense. Being a Southern California lad I had no idea the proper snow etiquette like that but will definitely remember next time.
@@JonathanYentch - not so much an etiquette thing as a safety concern. There have been accidents where chunks of ice flew off and broke the windshield of the car following behind and there was a multi-vehicle accident as a result. This probably happens in the northern US states too where they get lots of snow.
I think it would be helpful for you to assess your experience and mention good and bad that you may have learned. I have trucked camped many times and your expert brought back some memories! After watching you crawl in and out and get dressed, reminds me to think seriously about a taller camper for head room, making my sleeping platform much narrower to provide a way to bend my legs at the knees while sitting up and making sure my camper is lined to help cut down on condensation. Have enjoyed your blogs?😊
Great attitude. Wool pelts or Pendleton blanket take that edge off. I also put a wool pelt on the bottom. Propane heaters create condensation. Check out the candle lanterns. They really work well .
Take it from me, don't put the buddy heater anywhere near plastic. The second time I used mine I partially melted a plastic shelf. I could smell the melting and thought it was just because the heater was new. Then I saw the plastic drip.

In america the budy heater says not for indoor use, then in canada it says safe for indoor use since it has a built in saftey off switch for co2
