Bob used to host an open mic night in the mid 80s at a bar in Blacksburg, VA called South Main Cafe. To this day, the greatest live music venue EVER. Anyway, I used to sit in with him. He was very cool. We used to call him “Midnight bowlin’ Bob Margolin”
This is the kind of music influence to keep playing the blues, the attitude, experience, style and the message of the song it all come together like the old times... And by the way the first blues song I've played it was muddy waters and until now the hardest song but really satisfying skills and inspirational... Great video indeed
I saw Bob performing at the Night Shade Cafe in Greensboro, NC many times in the 1980's. I was playing bass for Smokestack Al and we opened for him at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem. Really nice guy.
that was nasty , filthy , down in the gutter , brawlin , boozy blues , both these guys a the real deal , fantastic , I don't think I'll ever be the same again , wicked , I'll be replaying that all day trying to figure it out , thanks guys , brilliant.
I saw Bob Margolin playing with Muddy Waters in Tucson Arizona sometime in the mid-1970's, and I will NEVER FORGET that concert the rest of my life! Muddy literally caused the crowd to have a collective orgasm, building up the tension into an explotion of ecstasy. You HAD to be there to know what it was like. His music hit me in my heart, and ripped it out. Margolin's playing was brilliant, as was Luther on the other side of the stage was Luther, who was also playing brilliantly (saw him solo at a little club in San Rafael when I was on LSD, which was a religious experience, but that's another story). I saw Bob Margolin playing with James Cotton in Seal Beach in about 1990, and talked with him briefly at the bar during the break. Unfortunately Cotton didn't play very well after drinking, so his second set was sloppy, always sad to see a great musician with a drinking problem, having been an addict most of my life I know what it's like. The Holy Spirit saved me, otherwise I'd be dead. Then I saw Margolin again with his own band at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival a decade or so ago, playing a Gibson ES-125 that time as I recall. A true Maestro of the blues, a protege of the legendary Muddy Waters, and many other of the original blues greats he learned from, but he has his own style too. Being a fiend for slide guitar, that's my favorite style of his, but his rhythm and lead playing are authentic, and brilliant. Play on brother..........!
Man....I have just been informed that the in-laws and the 4 kids they are raising are coming over for dinner tonight...I'm so tired man,and just flat out dont feel like it,lol!
Thank you Norm! Always loved Muddy and Bob Margolin with him. He really has Muddy's sound and touch here.

Amazing stories and music. But my god keep those amps on standby until they're ready to play!
You'd think Bob a sloth. Until he lights an amp up! My favorite NRG upload yet, thank you!
