Norm, I’m so happy you are back to work and looking good. I hope your health is better and better each day.. I’m in bed these days on the road to recovery from Stage 4. My kids bought me a iPad. With RUclips I can watch your shows from your store. The Martin OOO-45 today was special. Your conversation with Joe was wonderful. A few years back my wife and I walked into your store. You were sitting on the couch. I asked if you had a OOO-42. You reached back and grabbed one next to you. I paid and headed down the road. Thanks for the friendship and music you put into our lives. David
I could listen to Joe talk all day. Just a good soul. Would love to see him do just an Acoustic album. Just him and a acoustic. Love you Joe. Life doesn't get any better. Good stuff.
that is the most incredible guitar of its era that i have ever seen and my favorite Martin of all time...great find and thanks for keeping that prior owner in her home!
Joe is just one fabulous Human Being. Loving, caring, and helpful to musicians. And of course, a great ambassador for music in general. One could and should say the same things about Norm as well. So, thank you both. 👍🙏
So awesome to see Norm in his element and sharing admiration for such an amazing guitar. Would love to see videos of Norm just telling stories. Good stuff guys.
What a find! How rare is this guitar? According to Martin, only 125 14-fret 000-45 guitars were produced from 1934 - 1942, and only 12 in 1941. This guitar is a stunning, untouched example. There are still Holy Grails out there to be found! Thanks for sharing Joe and Norman! And thanks to GC for making this possible and saving a woman's home. Great story, it made my day.
@@WareBare I would guess anywhere between $200K - $400K? This is such a coveted guitar in immaculate condition built in the tail end of Martin's golden era.
Outstanding History, Craftsmanship I'd say it's priceless,,, No matter what 225$ was in 1941 5k $ wouldn't buy the original case ,,,this is a museum piece And now it will be living for ever Thanks for the Story and the opportunity to see and hear such a beautiful lineage,God Bless All!
I love the fact that he said he showed it to his dad! At around 3:47 I would do the same! I'm fortunate to have an amazing dad, myself -- and he is the reason I started playing as a kid. I just love the bonding between music and kids and parents. It's really beautiful!
Exactly. He is a normal guy. That is a rarity in the music business. You can tell that he was raised properly. That too is becoming a rarity these days.
Joe, hope you read this. What a noble and gentlemanly thing to not take advantage of the lady. Well done. My advice would be to play it sparingly and enjoy it. In your hands it will be preserved. Since you mentioned producing other peoples albums, had you taken notice of Ally Venable. I believe she did one of your Blues Cruises. I just saw her in Hanford, Ca.. A lovely, sweet young lady and a monster guitar player.🎸
You know what Norm you look good I’m also a cancer survivor and I have gone through those you go through when you have cancer so from one cancer survivor to another you look great and may God bless you forever and always as you run the shop as you do and keep making much love to Michael and Jen too Love, Michael Olson from New York
You can see the Love and Respect between these two Guys so nice to see and watch their Vast Knowledge and Expertise of Guitars thanks for sharing Guys ......Awesome Video ! ❤👍😊
So guys, what a sound! That’s all I can say. When I was a stupid kid I had a Martin and I really didn’t know what I had. I sold it so that I could get on with my life and finance something else. When I hear the sound of this Martin is it triggers a feeling in your chest and kind of makes you take a deep breath. Really a wonderful work of art that you have there.
I admire the bravery and skill of the luthier that could or would attempt a neck reset on a pre-war Martin. Even an 80s reissue would give me the meat sweats to attempt an NR. That's a hefty repair bill for that, guarantee you, and it takes a good bit of experience and skill to do it properly.
Wow!! Rare as hens teeth!! I'm amazed how they can reset a neck like that and it still looks and plays pristine! Guitar piece of history for sure. Rock on guys!!
A local guitarist, Jimmy Robinson, generally tours the US and Europe but also plays at a local coffee house whose owner let him play there when he was starting out. Whenever I catch him there, I watch the customers entering and walking the length of the room the the back to order stuff. The stage is directly to the left of the entrance and most people order their stuff and leave. A few customers take about four steps and almost break their necks doing a double take. That's how you tell the guitar players from everyone else. Check him out on RUclips and you'll see why. Thanks, Norm and Joe.
A CANNON !!! Looks beautiful and sounds amazing, along with a wonderful story. When you're one of the good guys, like Joe, stuff like this falls into your lap.
Listening to Neil Young playing a Martin D45 on Old Man, the guitar jangling and jingling as he moves it around making music without being played showed me why these things cost so much and are so sought over.
it technically is a pre war Martin as far as the usa is concerned because Joe mentioned its from January 1941 and I believe the attack on pearl harbour happened dec 7th 1941 witch led the United States to join Britain and the allies so it was built 11 months before ww2. what a beautiful piece of history thank you very much norm and Joe for sharing this with us :) best wishes from Vancouver Canada
@@chrisjames1924 yes for Canada Australia etc and the uk and France when Germany attacked Poland September 1939 but the usa didn't enter the war until Japan attacked pearl harbour Hawaii
I’ve never seen a guitar that old look so new. That is unreal. I don’t think 1941 Martins are considered “pre-war”, however, the term “pre-war” is somewhat arbitrary. It’s certainly pre-war for America. But Martin got materials from Germany for their guitars, so I think Martin considers pre war guitars dated before 1940. Joe needs to keep that guitar. Super rare.
Norm...the neverending knowledge guy in strings we love...Thank you ...Joe ...what can we say ..your knowledge is awesome too. Your collection needs an heir. Get busy man. Can you imagine teaching your son....all you know. We dig both you guys ..Norm. your looking great .
Amazing piece of history and a super cool story. One of the coolest places I’ve ever been is the Martin guitar factory, so I have a bit of a soft spot. I’ve got a couple martins that are “older” but they’re NEW compared to this baby! Wow!
Any guitar player can appreciate what's goin on here. I'm in a small New England place, but I'm Hanging Out in a Music Shop in SoCal!!! Lucky me!!!🎵🎶🎵.... my D28 Custom is just this nice!!!

I ended up in the hospital from a spider bite in 2011. This is nothing to sneeze at. Great to see Norm on the mend.
Wow, that's my local Guitar Center. I'm so glad they didn't buy it for $500. Good on them.
That's the only time guitar center did anything like that.
Not $500 maybe, but it sure as hell wasn’t what it’s worth….
Sounds like silk... absolutely beautiful
Continues to amaze me how these very very old guitars are still holding together and playable.
One of my buddies has a late 30s Martin from his grandfather and an old dears silver tone amp. Both going strong.
Always good to see Joe!

Glad to see you Norman! Thanks to the both of you for this beautiful guitar and backstory… keep doing what you do!! 🤘🏻 🍻
It's amazing such a rare classic can be found brought in for a few needed adjustments and be here for all of us to enjoy…and the Martin's cool too
That Martin found a good home. After a song or two it’ll end up in Banamassa’s museum. 👍🏻☮️🎸😍❤️

Any videos with “the guy out front”?
A pre war martin kept in a time capsule. It's beautiful!
Thanks!
Nice to see Norm and my Hometown master of the Blues Joe Bonamassa have a sit down. Thanks for this
Norm is looking great. This guitar is the acoustic equivalent of a 1959 Les Paul.
Sorry but there is NO Gibson of any variety the comes close to this amazing guitar. Period.
a great guitar and two good people!
Mr Bonamassa should buy Ed Bickert's 65 Telecaster for sale at a Toronto guitar shop.
Joe always has his two feet on the ground. Great guy, modest.

From CNY. With you, Joe.
We love you Norm!
$250 back in 41 would have been about $5,000 today. Martin sure was proud of it back then too!
So, at $200,000 to $400,000 today, Martin guitars are a pretty good investment, no? Assuming you pick the right model, of course.
Steve Stills would love that guitar!! Spider bite, musta been a Brown Recluse! I saw Larry McCray open for Garry Moore in 1991. He was killer!
