I was at the beach and a girl was filming herself doing exercises, well tricky exercises. Anyway the way the camera was angled when she watched the clip back it had caught me and my service dog in the film as well. She was only young but she came over ever so politely and explained what had happened and asked me if I had a problem with being in the background, I told her no but if I had said yes I fully believe she would not have used that footage. Now this was in a public park mind you so she was under no obligation to even ask me, her respect was something to be praised as not many ‘influencers’ have that sort of care for others.

If there was ever any little kids or even anyone who was like, clearly a minor, I just blurred their face or put a smiley over it. I have the nice copy of the picture at the end of the day, you know?

I record videos and take pictures in public places and even if one person I don't know is in them I ask if they're ok with being in it. If they're not I delete the photo or recording. Even if I have to ask ten people I do it.

I ruined an influencer's video - she was filming in the doorway of a cafe and there way a queue of people waiting to get in and out so I just walked up to her and said "you're blocking a fire exit - move!" and opened the door and let all the customers in - New Zealanders are too polite. She was so pissed 😂😂😂

I hate it when "influencers" do that kid of thing! I had an interaction with a "lovely influencer" just today. This idiot, ( yes that's EXACTLY what she was ) was waiting at the bus stop for our bus to come. She was filming the whole time, complaining that the bus wasn't ahead of schedule due to the heat! Then, when the bus arrived, she went to board without waiting for the other passengers to alight. That was her second complaint. Well, the people getting off were three mother's, each with prams, and one with a toddler in tow as well. Anyway, this "lovely young lady" ( now I'm feeling sick from calling her that ), threw a tantrum! She screamed at them to f***ING hurry up and move your f***ing little c**t kids so I can get out of this f***ING heat!
After her screaming fit, she had the audacity to tell the driver that she was to be given a free ride, as "those imbeciles" had taken too long to get off the bus! All while this was going on, she refused to move aside for me and an elderly man to get on the bus, as , in her words " This is more important than you"! Mind you, it is a very hot day, around 35°c, and the poor man was about to pass out. Needless to say, the bus driver looked her straight in the eye and said, " Get the f**K off my bus"! She then looked at her phone and said to the camera, " Can you see the way this misogynistic boomer spoke to me? Those women with the kids were SOOOOO entitled "!
I told her, very politely, to "get out of my f***ing way or I'll shove that phone fair up your ass, you entitled little...." Well, you can guess the rest! She turned around to say something back, but seen all my tattoos and realized it would be a great idea to do as I'd asked! She moved so fast, and I helped the elderly gentleman to a seat. I didn't really care about myself, just him.
That was my morning for you. And the bus ended up nearly 10 mins behind schedule all because of this entitled little brat! The funniest part is that she does all these videos on deportment, which entails politeness, manners, and showing respect to you elders!

"These are the consequences of your actions" just keeps playing in my head. If you film in public, be ready for judgmental looks and comments. If you don't want to be judged, don't do the things in public! Also, don't film in changing rooms! that's a private space for multiple people, not just one person!

    • @gawd4582
      @gawd4582 7 месяцев назад +11

Fun fact: While it's a private property, there is "no expectation of privacy" for customers coming into that space. And that is the legal litmus, whether or not there's an expectation of privacy. For instance, could you possibly take a Bath in the middle of a restaurant? You could not take your clothes off. You could not get naked because you would get arrested for public indecency.

We’re finally getting slapped by reality as we’re becoming more populous within the confines of urban areas. (People per square mile). We are highly individualist-minded countries (at least the US) and that is a dual edged concept, as it can breed a stronger* sense of entitlement and lack of self-awareness or at least lack of concern for others. It has it’s pros of giving people more independence, but it can also have those aforementioned cons.

Hi Charlotte! I'm from India and I have been watching your videos for a year. It helped me a lot with my mental health issues. I was not very confrontational and was kind of a people pleaser, that's why a lot of people took advantage of me to the point where I became so financially, physically and mentally exhausted that I couldn't even sleep for days. I didn't even know how to say no even if I was ill and in debt. I couldn't sleep so to lighten my mood, I watched your videos. And trust me when I say that the 'petty' kind of videos helped me to boost my self esteem and confrontation skills, I am not kidding at all. I learnt that it's easier to be bad in their eyes openly than being good and suffering from it and still being criticised for not doing more. Thanks a lot. You will always be special for me.

My partner and I went to a baseball game this past summer and as we were walking around looking for food, two girls had their phone setup on a trash can doing a TikTok dance.
I’m extremely camera shy so we dodged out of the camera view and noticed a lot of the people around us were doing the same. They noticed this and started laughing and making fun of everyone trying to get out of the shot.
I felt so much embarrassment for those two. You’re in a baseball stadium filming a bunch of people in public doing this sad goofy dance and you think we’re the strange ones for not wanting to be on camera? It’s so incredibly bizarre to me.

It's their attempt to not feel so bad.
They have to at least be subconsciously aware of their behavior, and for being 'an inconvenience for people'.
But it's such a tiny inconvenience, they shouldn't care that much about it, nobody else does!
However they're doing it on, probably, a daily basis; their conscience has to be eating away at them pretty hardcore by now 😄
So instead of feeling bad about it, they take the route of "Haha, let's make ourselves laugh instead of cry, look at all the people being so weird....trying to not be on the camera ... the one we set up in the middle of a public event where people you know.... have to walk for bathrooms or food."

There’s a whole generation on camera and their parents are usually the ones who start this behavior; when they themselves put the kids on the internet before they’re even a year old. Perhaps the kids that do this type of thing in public, truly believe this is how the world has always been. And because they’re so comfortable with plastering stupid content of themselves for the world to see all the time, maybe they think everyone else is that way too, even in public??? 😂😂 it’s so sad how shameless & self centered/vain this new generation is.

Oh my God, the table breaking one reminded me of this crazy woodwork teacher I had in high school. Our last project for the year was to make a small, square coffee table. Once everyone had finished making them he told us that his grading system was him sitting on each table and if they broke we'd fail, and if they didn't we'd pass. Now this teacher was a bit on the heavier side, so all of us were convinced that there's no way any of us would pass, and that we'd all get screamed at for being stupid and incompetent (he was one of the really old, horrible teachers that would yell at and insult us for no reason.) We ended up all passing which was surprising, and when he announced his retirement the next year I swear every kid in the school breathed a sigh of relief.

I have (had) a friend who seemed to always take bad angles of me in photos. I let it go for awhile until....
      ....my birthday....
Friends gave me a small birthday party a popular restaurant. Of course we all were taking pictures.....and again hers of me were horrendous. Yet THIS time she posted them on her Facebook without consulting me first.
I was absolutely LIVID! I literally looked awful! Even the other friends noticed.
When I called her to please take them down and use other ones she told me..."No. Those pictures look good to me."....
I came to realize she considered me the
"ugly old friend" and this was her passive aggressive way of her letting me know she felt that she was much more attractive and younger than me.
Never again I allowed her to take a photo of me again.

Although admittedly, I wouldn't expect one to tumble over, just from someone slamming the door shut 👀
Screws being left over happens with furniture for self assembly quite often, though - they seem to err on the side of putting in extra stuff, rather than to risk something being missing. I always count and compare to the leaflet, before I start, so I can be sure, I don't miss something.

I'm pretty sure in Canada, at least one person involved in the conversation must consent to the recording. So you could secretly record a conversation you're having with someone but not secretly record other people having private conversations. That being said if you're in public ( ie not at home or at a private establishment) you have zero expectation of privacy. In public anyone can record anyone else. But be careful because it can be quite nuanced and slightly different depending on the province.

I, 35f, went on a first date today I left my husband 2 1/2 years ago and so far I haven't found a connection with anyone.
Me and the guy are coming out of his car to go into a shop and I was telling him a story and he turns around and goes "oh no not me I would have done much worse - because I am very petty"
Roll on date 2 I'm very excited

I’ve thought about making a pin or a hat that says “I don’t consent to be recorded in any way” when I’m out and about so that people would have to either blur or not include me. And then have visual proof that I did not consent.
I also worry that it might attract attention from people who have no boundaries. It’s like this anxiety bubble I get myself into sometimes.

there are one-consent states in the US. Meaning only one person needs to be aware of the recording, and that can be the person doing the recording. I've used it for an abusive person who is no longer in my life. it's totally legal in those states to record anyone. Video is/can be a separate law, so check both for your state. (again, the US).

The recording thing depends on where you are. The state I live in in the US is a one party state so if you're in the recording and you know you're recording the interaction you dont have to notify the other parties you're doing it. Of course, you can't record in a bathroom at all or in a bedroom unless there is a weapon involved.

Man, she didn't even rent a hangar. Someone just photoshopped her into pictures that already existed. Check out her feet on the stairs. They aren't on the stairs! And on the one of her sitting on the seat, you can see a thin black line around her whole body where they cropped her out of another picture and plopped her into that one, not even taking scale into consideration.

In the US, it depends on the state whether you need consent or not. Every state is either 1 party consent, or 2 party consent. 1 party consent means that either party has to consent, and the consenting party can be the one recording, which means no disclosure is required. 2 party consent means that both parties have to consent and that's when a disclosure is required.

In Germany (and I believe EU overall) you are allowed to film strangers but are NOT allowed to post footage of them without their consent, unless they are celebrities, politicians etc. (=people of public interest). If you don’t get their consent then you have to obscure their identity or make sure they aren’t directly in a shot. An exception are shots with more than X number of people in it (ex. Shot of a busy street with lots of people) and filming for the specific purpose of recording evidence.
That’s what we were taught in school when we did a week specifically about media and internet and the laws around it, Idk if they changed those policies in the last 8 years

In the US, it is a state by state kind of thing with recording someone. A lot of states do require consent to be recorded, some do not. The reason why you get the "This phone call..." message is due to it being better to cover your butt with incoming calls as you do not know where they are calling from.

Note on the voice recording: Here in the US, the laws on recording conversations vary by state. Some states have a one-party consent rule, which means that only one person involved in the conversation needs to agree to the recording. Other states have a two-party or all-party consent rules, which means that everyone involved in the conversation must agree to the recording. In some states, there are also exceptions or special provisions for certain situations. Unfortunately, in my state of Wisconsin, we are a one-party consent state, meaning that as long as I am part of the conversation I can legally record it and use it as I please. However, this does not apply if the conversation is in a place where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as a private home or a hotel room, anywhere that isn't open to the public to listen to what we are saying. In that case, I would need the consent of all the parties, or I could face legal consequences.

Even when it is a one-party consent, many places have laws regarding about HOW the recoding can be legally used. You can record without the other party knowing, but often you cannot use the recording however you want to.

Yes, with the only exception being using recorded illegal activity or conversation that can be used to convict someone. I’m in California (two-party), but I assume that’s fairly universal. I’ve done it. A family member was arrested for something horrific and the FBI kicked the door down. We had no idea. I drove 6 hours to get the truth from him and wasn’t sure if he’d be honest about it, so I recorded an 8 hour conversation without his knowledge. Fortunately, he owned up to everything in court and went to prison.

Just for more context. I have an autoimmune illness. And a spinal thing that I’m dealing with. Half of the time, I’m in a wheelchair. But I can walk. So. Sometimes I’m not. But people are SO WEIRD about that! And I just. Don’t want to end up in a video where someone is making a snap judgement, not knowing why I use a chair sometimes, and why I don’t other times! I feel like I need to make a sign 🪧. For the back of my chair/shirt 😂.

When camera phones first became a thing, I was very nervous because I've been in semi-hiding since 1996 from my first ex-husband, and I was afraid he might figure out where I moved and what name I am using. I think enough time has gone by that he's no longer trying to find us. Maybe he feels he got away with killing two people, so maybe he shouldn't push his luck.
All the same, I don't want to be in anyone's video! I don't even show my face in my own videos!
