I write a travel and photography blog, and would never ask for free accommodations or stuff in exchange of post. It's ridiculous and insulting to the business owner.
If these "influencers" actually had any real influence, companies would be approaching them. Anyone who contacts you with their hand out can be safely dismissed as pathetic wannabes.
But I have to say that it also works the other way around. SO MANY brands and business email "influencers" (I don't like this word either) asking to create content and advertise their product (which it takes time and effort) and refuse to pay any money. Rotten apples in bot sides 😜
The music industry-making videos using willing people & vehicles or whatever that is useful for a video. People with stars in their eyes & clouds in their minds will help for a promise that frequently never happens. A small shitty prize , some cd's or whatnot.
I have more respect and certainly sympathy for people begging in the streets than influencers. Influencers are simply online beggers. Thanks Charlotte.
It's the unjustified entitlement that disgusts me. How are these freeloaders serious? It's rude and not classy AT ALL to even ask for free stuff. The most shocking aspect of this behavior is that influencers legit think people will just comply with their bullsh*t ideas, and then they're actually surprised (or even offended!) when told, "No. F off. You are not that influential and I don't work for free." Their entire sense of reality and how to treat others is so skewed it's simply unbelievable at times. People are raising absolute brats nowadays. Some of these kids have no idea how the world works and low (if any) grasp of what it means to work and EARN the money they need to accomplish whatever goals they've set or acquire the material things they would like to have. I see so many younger people acting like this, with parents straight-up supporting their kids' unrealistic grasp of how to treat people. They validate their childrens' insane concepts of how everyone should kiss their ass and how much better they are than everyone else. Just no concept of hard work or respect. It's hard to understand why this has become a reasonable and acceptable way to prepare kids for real life. This world is about to be inherited by a generation of people who are totally self-absorbed and lack any sense of responsibility or empathy for people less fortunate than they are. What TF are their parents thinking, reinforcing this shit?!?
I get parents wanting their kids to have things they didn’t have, TO A POINT!!! You Should Want your kids to know the value of a dollar, Yes Their OWN DOLLAR, Not their parents!! They should want them to save up their OWN money for things They want! And teach them they have to work for the things they want to Really appreciate the things they have!!! That’s what I was taught anyways🤔🤷🏼♀️
naw they influence kids into thinking they dont have work to make money. they think its sit in front of the camera for 15 mins and put it up on youtube. they post at most twice a week. i say this because kids dreams now are to be youtubers rather than plumbers, doctors, business owners, real actors or entertainers. youtube wont last forever. they need a reality check.
I can totally relate to some influencers being entitled. We opened a Cafe recently and we were contacted by an influencer who wanted to “Collab” with us in exchange for shoutouts and posts. She wanted the most exclusive items in our cafe and we agreed to make a Christmas hamper and give her. She lived far away yet we agreed to deliver it to her at our cost. But however she asked if we would like her to post only in a story or in both story and post, we said both. And she was like “I can do the story for free but I charge a fee for a post” I mean come on! The hamper was already worth a lot of money and we had to deliver it to her at our own expense and plus to pay her for a post??? I politely told her that it seems unreasonable and politely declined the offer. I would never charge a small business like that even if I had a million followers
Most people click on videos because of the image on the video, that’s why. I hate when videos don’t include the actual picture. I hope that make sense but it’s just annoying when people clickbait, hope there’s other ppl that understand me. 💜
I wouldn’t even respond to anyone asking for anything free. What influencers fail to realize is that their followers can be based almost anywhere in the world! A lot of good that’s gonna do for a local restaurant or hotel when your followers are in Europe!
I don't know how people have the gall to ask for free stuff. Shout outs to your 300 followers is not payment. If you want something, you pay for it with cash.
The company I worked for did a collaboration with an Instagram influencer. The influencer paid for her custom prints (with a discount), was super sweet, took a picture with me, and simply tagged us as her part of the collaboration. So there are, in fact, good influences. Surprising, I know.
i'm just amazed at the audacity the people have to actually write these things. The fact that some don't even bother to write or at least try to write a bit professional is just wow...

My daughter utilizes her inner petty anytime someone steps out of line. Thanks Charlotte for helping her stop being bullied. *She is also not the bully, thank goodness*
It is ? Having a camera and shooting stuff doesn't make you a photographer, just an asshole with a camera. Actual professional photographers that know how to shoot stuff are rare and quite pricey.
@@Zamolxes77 DeShawn was not referring to actual photographers, but to the "assholes with a camera." It's because of these people that actual professional photographers are going out of business. Not to mention, i saw people doing "fashion photoshoots" with a smartphone. i think that's so half-assed and embarrassing... And the photoshoots were for fashion magazines no less..
@@sapphirecamui6447 Around these parts (Eastern Europe), nobody hires assholes with a camera. A good wedding photographer costs 500-2000 euros per 2 hours session. A good photographer has 3-5 weddings per day, during wedding season, and they're very sought after.
@@Zamolxes77 That's awesome to hear. And i want to say that the person i saw taking pictures for a fashion editorial with a smartphone, was in Bucharest. (Regarding the "influencer" wedding): Funnily enough, "naming and shaming" the company she was trying to screw over would probably get them MORE business/clients than any actual "influence" she could offer :)
I really love the approach of "you pay and if you get us more clients you will earn your money back or maybe even make extra money" because anyone who believes in their influence will agree to that and all the fakes just leave
Thanks for sharing the honest story of how your shout out on Instagram of 66K followers, resulted in 1 client for the small business. That provides great insight. And I would imagine doing an Influencer wedding for free, would result in meeting more influencers who would also want their wedding done for free - LOL.
Found this comment a second ago “Fun fact: The word "Influenza" comes from the Italian word for "influence", due to the belief that it was caused by astrological influences. I mention this because it is obvious that being an influencer is obviously likening yourself to a disease.” Seems legit.
Here’s an idea 💡 “Hey i really like your work/service/ business. Im going to pay you in full for this work/service/business and post about it anyways because your work/service/business is good”

As someone who is trying to start a career in art, opening up an Etsy shop, as well as having a Patreon to help get support to become a better artist, what you said is incredibly true and hits home. I've had people get interested in wanting a commission, but not wanting to pay my rates, and want to pay practically nothing for it, and it's not only insulting, it's aggravating AF. I actually reached out to Pazar Food Collective and sent them a screenshot of the messages used in this bit. I said I really respected their response to the influencer. They responded saying they appreciate that they were recognized and that others agree with their position
I feel like the idea of an "influencer" is so laughable to so many people because if someone was actually good at influencing people... they'd have a different, more professional occupation (in theory). Like, public relations specialist and professional marketers influence people, politicians influence people (for better or worse), scientists, artists and zoologists who make/star in fun educational programs for kids influence people. "Influencing" with no other purpose (besides money) attached seems hollow.
Well, it takes NOTHING to claim you're an "influencer" at all, and even those with tens of thousands of "followers" don't actually "influence" anyone with a functioning, sound mind of their own. "Influencers" are self-described and typically millennials without a real job, because they're too "special" for a job, instead thinking that the 300 people in the world who actually care about what they post will be a free ticket to all sorts of benefits. We manufacture accessories for sport shooting, and yes, we've had people try this on us, promising to "evaluate" something we make, but ONLY if they get it for FREE. We don't need it, and we'll always politely refuse their "offers"; when we see the word "collab" or "collaboration", we immediately know it's a one-side deal where we gain nothing - not even one paying customer - and they get hundreds of dollars' worth of merchandise. Apparently, this is old-fashioned BEGGING in the 2020 decade!

If I'm going to promote a business, I'll just do it for free. Especially if I eat there or use their services. "Word of mouth" is the best advertising after purchasing services.
I've been approached by "influencers" wanting to use some of my 3D art as a background, but only if I remove my watermark... of course, in exchange for a 'shoutout'. I write them back telling them they are more than free to use the posted image with watermark all they want and that the watermark IS my constant 'shoutout' instead of the single one I'll get that will disappear in probably less than an hour. NOTE: To save my time, I have that response on notepad to copy and paste. I don't have time to waste on leeches, that's the offer... take it or leave it, I could give less than half a 💩 either way.
Just be like any normal person. Go there, pay for the service and if you like what you got, take a pic and post it. If we mortals can do it without a big following, then so can you!
So funny. That reminded me of a friend of mine, she worked as a lingerie model and I did a few shootings with her. She always tagged lingerie brands in the pics (without having asked them for anything!), after some time they became aware and actually sent her stuff and that was very cool. However there were other brands that reached out to her as well. There was this herbal tea company that also sold nice see through bottles for the tea, so we took some nice and spicy pics with the tea and she drank it and said: " OOOhh, that really tastes very good!" Drank the whole bottle and spend the next day shitting her brains out ... I am still laughing about that, but it really gets me when I see more "famous" "influencers" with the same brand and imagine the next day :-D
I work in reservations for a hotel chain in my hometown. The amount of people that sends emails asking for a free room and free meal in our 5 star hotel is ridiculous. 99% of the time I don't even reply.
Absolute horrors, the days of the influencer ending can't come quick enough. Been watching videos where they're caught out lying about products and stories. Scammers.
Girl, that influencer with the wedding in 2021 - Like WOW. **laughs maniacally** Honestly, all the people I follow have legit jobs and posting is a side hustle. That works well, cause brands reach out to them. It's amazing to see how far you've grown, esp. with the global pandemic, good job Charlotte!
I work for a car company and we get emails from influencers asking for free cars- nobody has ever got a free car...but we do get a good team chat about the audacity of them.
The biggest problem is that there seam to be no criteria to be an influencer. So, some random person with 50 followers can simply call themselves an "influencer". They don't seam to understand that "influencer" implies that people listen to you and follow your suggestions. That second part is key!
I love the wedding one a lot. Hey they offered a legit contract to be signed that made it a bindingly legal requirement for the influencer to reach that minimum number of followers and such - otherwise a full payment of the service would be required. I mean if you're not willing to put it in writing, take your offers elsewhere... sheesh. It's basic shit that a business deal is done in writing, signed by both partners, etc.
Thanks RUclips for ALL the influencers! 1st time in history we had influencers in our life! What I've learned through all this is people do things!!! Crazy!
I like that revelation that after exposure to 66k followers, the company got 1 new client. That's probably not the case across the board with followers depending on what's being promoted but definitely an enlightening stat to pocket.

😁
I hate the word influencer, most of them influence almost no people.
Oh, I don’t know...they have influenced me...into hating them!! LMAO!!!
@@Racingirl911 touché
@@MGC-XIII 😁
The only thing influenced is their ego.
naw they influence kids into thinking they dont have work to make money. they think its sit in front of the camera for 15 mins and put it up on youtube. they post at most twice a week. i say this because kids dreams now are to be youtubers rather than plumbers, doctors, business owners, real actors or entertainers. youtube wont last forever. they need a reality check.
Disgusting “influencers”. They are a new type of plague. Thanks for being different Charlotte
I think I’m an influencers nightmare, my middle name is “skip ad.”
My middle name is "block ad".
I go by "no script"
This got me 😂😂
Lmaooo
Most people click on videos because of the image on the video, that’s why. I hate when videos don’t include the actual picture.
I hope that make sense but it’s just annoying when people clickbait, hope there’s other ppl that understand me. 💜
I think the image was actually in one of her videos but I don't know which one. But yeah, I fully agree
Same here!
The entitlement and lack of common sense is real. 🤦🏻♀️
Millennials. And they DON'T HAVE CASH AT ALL. A BMW lease is expensive, and maintaining an image of success is expensive at their actual income lever!
The company I worked for did a collaboration with an Instagram influencer. The influencer paid for her custom prints (with a discount), was super sweet, took a picture with me, and simply tagged us as her part of the collaboration. So there are, in fact, good influences. Surprising, I know.
So her mom has a cancer diagnosis and yet she planned her wedding for 2 years off?
My exact thought
Clearly doesn't want her mother there.
Lol that's exactly what I thought!!!!!
Or what, is it a basal cell carcinoma? It's a generally small easy to remove skin cancer that doesn't metastasize.
She's simply very respectfully waiting for her mother to die so she can cash in the life insurance policy she just took out on her.
i'm just amazed at the audacity the people have to actually write these things. The fact that some don't even bother to write or at least try to write a bit professional is just wow...
I love when Charlotte burps..hisses..speaks like a 'pompous stuck up person' etc. She IS the 👑Potato Queen👑 after all.
Yes, potatoes 🥔 around the world kneel in her presence! 👍🏼👍🏼😁😁
It’s like talking to myself😄 I burp and do silly faces but I don’t care what other people think. I don’t speak bad about anyone and I’m not rude.

Even if she bullies the bully, she's not hehe ♥ happy for her! You're doing good work!
The market for photographers is permanently over-supplied. It's apparently what everyone dreams of doing instead of their current job.
So is the market for freelance (ghost) writers.
I actually saw maybe 3 such events this summer alone.
I can't speak for weddings or other more important events, so i won't argue with you there - im not married, not getting married any time soon, and i haven't been to weddings in a very long time.
Have a great day! :D
(Regarding the "influencer" wedding): Funnily enough, "naming and shaming" the company she was trying to screw over would probably get them MORE business/clients than any actual "influence" she could offer :)
Me: I charge $60 an hour Client: Can you do better than that Me: Yes I can, I charge $80 an hour.
I really love the approach of "you pay and if you get us more clients you will earn your money back or maybe even make extra money" because anyone who believes in their influence will agree to that and all the fakes just leave
I fvcking LOVE these videos. The entitlement that these “influencers” have is truly disgusting.
“You thinker I care??” Yes I thinker you do 😂
Thanks for sharing the honest story of how your shout out on Instagram of 66K followers, resulted in 1 client for the small business. That provides great insight. And I would imagine doing an Influencer wedding for free, would result in meeting more influencers who would also want their wedding done for free - LOL.
Photographers of the world thank you, Charlotte!
That picture of you on the color bars always cracks me up !!
"Influencers" sounds a bit like "Influenzas" 😆
That’s actually the root word of “influence”.
So... you’re not wrong
Found this comment a second ago
“Fun fact: The word "Influenza" comes from the Italian word for "influence", due to the belief that it was caused by astrological influences. I mention this because it is obvious that being an influencer is obviously likening yourself to a disease.” Seems legit.
Yes, but it's actually pronounced "Scammers".
This title made me think about Rihanna and all her wild tweets calling celebrities out 😹
Left right and center lol
That should be it’s own video.
“Hey every boDY”...Makes me smile big time.
Charlotte is definitely the queen of reaction vídeos...😂
Here’s an idea 💡
“Hey i really like your work/service/ business. Im going to pay you in full for this work/service/business and post about it anyways because your work/service/business is good”
That's hiw real influencers should work (I can forgive if they use the discount code)
Influencer is just a new term for beggar, they are trying to do it on a bigger scale- and failing miserably.
1st guy asking for $ to put a person's song on his profile just seemed like a scam
They really did. The send money now! Red flagged big time haha
I'm glad you've read the full response to the wedding proposal of free photographers and 25% discount !!? I was in tears listening to you reading the response... classic.
Like, I'm legit trying to make this into a career and you want me to work for free? Dafuq?! Sorry for the rant. I just love your work, and love how much compassion you have for artists. :) Thank you and love you! SUBSCRIBED!
I would love if companies start adding "influencer" policies.
I would love a story time with Charlotte ☺
I wonder how many of these 'influencers' watch Charlotte, then hide under the table when they hear what the subject of the video is?
I doubt those kind of people have that level of self awarenes to be honest😅
Thank you for this, Charlotte. Had a hell of a week with severe health complications, so this takes my mind off it all. You're the best! 💜🔥✌️

For me influencers are more like - 'distracters' keeping your mind absent from certain truths.
I would call a handful of people on IG influencers. The rest are just desperately seeking fame and fortune.
Me and my friend are both 15 and are both artist. Whenever I want something animal/cartoony, I commission her to do an art piece and pay her for it! She puts her soul into her artwork and not paying would be unfathomable.

"YAZ SOME PEOPLE ARE GONNA POST YOU ON THEIR STORY, IT'S GONNA BE LIT!" HAAAA....

Thanks for the laughs Charlotte!!! You really brighten up my day with AAAALLLLL the Tea you spill!!! Keep up the GREAT Work ALWAYS!!
Apparently, this is old-fashioned BEGGING in the 2020 decade!
like half of the things you list are vapid, useless busy work that just so happen to pay the bills. you realize that this a backhanded compliment at charlotte and shed be pretty insulted at what youre implying her work ethic and worth is shit in general
When I hear "Hey everybody!" I'm like Pavlov's dog. I salivate a lot and wag my tail knowing I'm gonna get a treat!😋🐕

No, make that 385,001. You're a joy to watch.
Weird talk about Karen's. I met one when I was 12. She told me I owed her a present for her birthday even though I was friends with her sister and didn't know it was her birthday!
If I'm going to promote a business, I'll just do it for free. Especially if I eat there or use their services. "Word of mouth" is the best advertising after purchasing services.
Best influencers: Parents and teachers.
Whoever wrote the response at 4:12 needs a raise. That was GOLD
I love this so much. I constantly get "influencers" asking me to post my art or swag on their sites... for a fee. It's always worth a great laugh.
YES!!!! My day is saved. Thanks Charlotte😭
Just be like any normal person. Go there, pay for the service and if you like what you got, take a pic and post it. If we mortals can do it without a big following, then so can you!
Thank you for existing Charlotte
My cat has more followers than most of these "influencers"
I work in reservations for a hotel chain in my hometown. The amount of people that sends emails asking for a free room and free meal in our 5 star hotel is ridiculous. 99% of the time I don't even reply.

Absolute horrors, the days of the influencer ending can't come quick enough. Been watching videos where they're caught out lying about products and stories. Scammers.

Honestly, all the people I follow have legit jobs and posting is a side hustle. That works well, cause brands reach out to them. It's amazing to see how far you've grown, esp. with the global pandemic, good job Charlotte!
I work for a car company and we get emails from influencers asking for free cars- nobody has ever got a free car...but we do get a good team chat about the audacity of them.
Wow. A free car?!? That’s beyond insane. I also was taught that we had to work for the things we want and need.
Crazy!
First one sounds like one of those Nigerian Prince scams.
I like that revelation that after exposure to 66k followers, the company got 1 new client. That's probably not the case across the board with followers depending on what's being promoted but definitely an enlightening stat to pocket.
Saving my sanity from this mundane Monday. Thank you, Potato Queen.
I cannot believe how many people are treating artists like trash and wanting free services, it is disgusting.
To paraphrase Bryce Harper: Those were clown influencers, Bro.
It's funny how these 'influencers' immediately call them greedy and unprofessional after they were asked to do work for free...
That first one sounds like a hacker/scam more than a legit influencer.
