YESSSS!!! I was about 15 and I had been talking to this guy online. Well my BFF and I were both talking w him and his BFF. We were gonna meet them at a park less then a mile from my house (no we didn’t tell em we lived that close) Well we got there first and we’re watching n waiting to see what these guys looked like. All of a sudden the car we were told they’d be in pulls in and two OLDER GUYS get out. Sure the pics they showed us was of them just back when they were probably in their teens or twenties bc these guys were easily 40s!!!!! And then we realized that one of em was actually a bus driver for our high school!!! We never went over to meet them and when they emailed us asking why we told em exactly what happened n that we recognized one as our HS bus driver.... That account was deleted within 10mins. We eventually told my mom bc I was so creeped out by it especially when I ended up on his bus one day when I was going to a friends house. He must’ve recognized my picture from when we were talking online and the entire ride on the bus and when I got off said “wanna try the park thing again”. Yeah later that night when I got home I told my mom n showed her everything. She made some calls and I was grounded for about 3wks bc obviously I was willing to meet someone I didn’t know from the internet therefore my mom felt I needed a punishment. She was right lol. The whole experience taught me a few lessons that’s for sure.
The gif, should be thought of as a gift. When the dumbass that created it, _must_ spell out the proper pronunciation as, "jif" _Why_ the fck didn't he just spell it correctly in the 1st place?? People's limits of stupidity _are_ endless. 😣
I once met a guy on tinder. We only spoke in gifs for a year. Then we followed one another on Instagram and we only react to eachothers stories, like each others pictures and talk in GIFs sometimes. It's the healthiest relationship I have ever had 👐 😂
True story, one of my brother’s coworkers showed him a picture of a girl he met on a dating site. My brother said “I know for a fact that the person you are talking to is not that woman, that’s my sister.” Some one stole my photos and uses them to catfish.
Charlotte, don't feel bad about having been catfishes. I was catfished once, many years ago-long before Facebook-back when America Online (AOL) was the king of social media. This man's story was really elaborate-he pretended to be a car dealership owner with a son, making it easy to believe him. At one point, he claimed he was driving his son to school, & asked me to call him later. I did call him later, deciding to call him at “his” dealership instead of his cell phone. I was transferred to “him”-the ACTUAL owner! At this point, I realized I'd been catfished. I explained to the actual owner what had happened, & he became alarmed, even to the point that the catfisher may have his child with him. Thankfully, his son turned out to be okay, & was at his school-not with the catfisher. The owner thanked me profusely, & got the police involved. The catfisher got caught.
I don’t know a single person that hasn’t had at least one catfish story I have multiple it’s definitely not anything to be ashamed of. It’s not your fault at someone trying to trick you and sometimes they’re good at it. That’s why I recommend meeting in person after less than a week some thing very casual, but still in a public place. You will be able to see if they are real or not. Otherwise do not waste your time so many catfish out there
My Pre-Catfish Catfish Story: Way back in 1996 when the mysterious interweb thing had only been around for 6 or so years, give or take, my ex-husband like to chat with girl "friends" he met while in AOL and Netscape chat rooms. Apparently one started sending pics to him and he showed me to "prove" that he wasn't cheating on me. She was cute, I admit, and he fell hard for her. She was more worldly, more exciting and exotic-looking, everything a bored husband-child could want after being chained down to adult responsibility for the whopping 7 years we'd been married. You know those "oh let's not shut this down yet 'cause watching this is gonna be a helluva lot more fun" moments in life? Yeah...months later she admitted that the pictures she kept sending him was of her dead sister that she thought was always prettier than her. Sad, but a little psycho creepy and a whole lotta messed up to do that to a guy. Bonus Chapter: The lesson wasn't learned. He ended up meeting a girl from Poland online, immigrated her over to the US, got married, and she immediately popped out about 4 kids that he now has to take care of instead of living a very rich life with just me. Guys, be careful. The grass on the internet may look greener thanks to Photoshopping catfish!

This may be a silly ? but how do you do a reverse image search I typed it in Google and got apps to download thought it was similar to image search so if anyone knows and can direct me I will appreciate.Thanks

Get at least one form doesn’t mean you have to use it just have some thing with real pictures of yourself even if it’s like three real pictures better to have something than nothing because a lot of people do consider it a red flag. I personally don’t but it’s a little odd if they don’t even have anything, I typically, trust people to have things they just haven’t posted to in a long time. I definitely don’t like social media either.. But it is a good way to check if someone is a catfish or not
Same with a relative of mine. Even shown evidence that the number is a scam and it's been flagged already. But when they don't want to see it, they won't. So frustrating. 😩
It's hard to let go of the dream... Especially after you have given money. It's like you can't admit to yourself you have been played because of the financial/emotional investment. And the more people tell you you're being conned, the more you dig your heels in. There are a couple of good sites for finding people who are recorded as con artists... And groups that can help.
My dad was being catfished earlier this year. She was from New York and they talked for months. I didn’t know how to tell him. I mean she was half his age and gorgeous, and my dad isn’t exactly young anymore. She then pretended to be kidnapped: had her friend call him from her phone and was asking for ransom money. My dad called the cops and apparently she was a real person, but was scamming him. I knew something like that would happen... really hurt him too. He just wouldn’t listen

I'm not sure why but I used to get tons of "military" men wanting to meet me LOL 😂, I think a friend of mine on FB accepted a friend request from a cat fisher and they scanned their contacts and sent messages to many "lonely" women!!! I've been very happily married for 39 yrs now, LOL ❣️
I was being played a few weeks ago. He sent me the oddest texts that sounded like they were not original, not his, and he liked talking dirty. I knew I was being played and as soon as he asked for money, I ghosted him.😃

Thanks for the laughs! I've been at home, sick with covid for a week now and been nothing but angry at the person who went to work sick with covid symptoms. They got most of the staff sick, including my husband, who brought it home to me. Im on chemo so this isn't a small thing for me. Im just angry that this person lied on their twice daily symptoms checker at work...

I've sold two cars, and a jet ski online, and I can vouch for the reality of these scammers. Literally hundreds of scammers across those three large transactions. It was interesting picking my way through them.

Had that before in games... not on youtube though.. like one time i was playing smite (league esque game that is 3d instead of top facing) and i picked a god that i don’t play alot after getting the support role (tank) so i fatfingered the wrong ability (a taunt that pulls people to you) and immideately my adc (fast speed basic attack character) started being a salt (luckily i was in a party of 4 so he was the only non friend in the match) and as the game went on he just started saying i was a bot.. like i’m pretty sure bots don’t type back but suure 😂😂🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
She's extremely popular because of the scene she did with the hijab. She actually wanted to be a lowkey porn star to make money like one of the ones you come across when you look up something specific and never think of the person again. But she became very well known and I think her family disowned her and she was getting death threats from muslim people who were offended by the scene. And I think she barely made any money from them compared to what the porn industry made from her videos. And a lot of people think it's messed up how she had to go through all of that and didn't get the money that she should've
and she then became further known because she left the industry, got a Boy friend and decided she wanted the porn industry to stop using her movies and everything about her on the internet taken down ( as if that would ever happen). Actually, the language rules are a bit contradictory. The words "giraffe" and "gin" have a soft g, but "gift" and "gild" (as in cover with gold, not "guild" a group of skilled craftsmen) have a hard g. The English language's pronunciation rules are so muddled. I don't remember most of what I learned in Spanish class, but every word in Spanish has a pronunciation that can be deciphered from the spelling of the word. It is so much nicer and easier.

I am on a group of"mommies"in my city, and there are a lot of people that try to scam others by saying that they are poor and need money for their kids, while in reality they lie and they even post on multiple groups.It's so sad that those people use pity and children to get money when they are perfectly healthy and they can work...

I'm in my 50's so I seem to be in a pretty popular age demographic. Who knew?!? In the past year I have: 1." Had a warrent for my arrest by a sheriff's department in Washington state" ( I don't live in WA). 2. " Had my Yahoo mail account hacked & they need my info to verify who I am" ( yahoo knows my name is not "Dear Customer"). 3. " Had ALL my accounts frozen by the IRS pending verification of my personal information". ( again, the IRS knows my name). 4. " Had my social security suspended due to possible fraud and MUST contact them immediately to verify WHO I AM". ( social security does not call. They send letters, ALWAYS). 5. (And my favorite)... " Had a uncle who was chief advisor & friend to a Nigerian Prince who's life he saved from an assassination attempt! The Prince had no family left ( victims of political unrest), and being forever indebted to my brave & loyal uncle, made him the beneficiary of his entire 14 million US dollar ( like 5 billion Nigerian Naira) estate!!! Unfortunately, just a few months after the prince's death my poor uncle also became ill & passed. My uncle instructed the lawyer handling the estate that as uncle's favorite niece it was all to go to me. As sad as it is to have lost such a loving family member, it is incredibly exciting to imagine the good I could do with that amount of money. The thing is that the lawyer has to smuggle the money out of Nigeria as the government wants to take it for their own ( dun...dun...dun). It needs to be done soon, before they find it, so the lawyer needs me to send $800 to pay the courier to get it out of the country and sent to me. The lawyer of course will receive his fee for handling everything then the rest will be mine". There is just one small thing that's making nervous about it all...... I don't have an Uncle! You would think if these people put ALL the creativity they seem to have towards a venture that would give them a steady income rather than the droughts between the naive marks they manipulate it would be alot less work. OMG: I just remembered my Instagram encounter with Lenny Kravitz!!! Ok real quick..... A couple of months ago I was scrolling Insta & and came upon a post of Lenny Kravitz. He was wishing Lionel Richie a happy birthday. I liked & commented HB Mr. Richie & 2 of the most beautiful people in the world...blah....blah ( I'm older and these were people big in my time - been in love with LK since I was a teen). About 10 min later I get a message & it says Lenny Kravitz wants to message you!!! My heart stopped for 10 seconds & I almost pissed myself.... I clicked on accept and EVERYTHING looked the same as the birthday post. Names, icon pic, all of it & I was freaking out. He said hello, I said hello ( Had it been Lionel after he said hello I would have to say ....is it me your looking for? I would have hated myself forever if I didn't, I digress), LK asks me my favorite songs of his & I named a bunch, then he says it so nice to meet a true fan. I fan girled slightly & asked how his daughter was, and how I loved his mother on the Jeffersons, was sorry she had passed. He inquired about my family and after a bit more chatting he said he was enjoying chatting with me & wanted to give me his private number, but I would have to understand his need for privacy .... yadda....yadda. I said of course and he gave me a phone number. Which I wrote down immediately . Chatted more about other pleasantries, then he said that I should give him my WhatsApp. I said I don't have one. (The euphoria was dying slightly at this point), He said I should get one cause it's better for chatting and sending pictures. I grabbed my tablet, as I was on my phone and Googled the phone number. It came back as in North Carolina ( LK has been spending most of his time in Hawaii according to his Insta posts & had no ties I could find to North Carolina), meanwhile we are still chatting and then it clicked in my fan girl brain. I had a couple weeks prior to this watched a video about and older man in Australia who was in the music business for decades and had worked with Olivia Newton John as she came up in the early years of her career. He was recently widowed and lonely & ONJ was battling cancer. He decided to leave some kind words on her Facebook & was shocked & delighted when she messaged him back. They began talking and it came to the point were they were talking everyday and had a budding romance. He started sending her money and gifts ...The way these things tend to go. The thing that clicked for me was this older man showed messages from their first interaction and the wording was EXACTLY the same as the conversation I was having with LK at that very moment. Word for Word! Turns out in the video they tracked the woman (ONJ) and asked her all the pertanent questions & there are tons of these imposters pretending to be celebrities and establishing relationships with die-hard fans who message them on socials and scamming money, gifts, "pictures" for blackmail & humiliation I imagine. Anyway, LK keeps asking if I downloaded WhatsApp yet, he wanted me to send him a picture of me ( we were on Insta he could look at my profile if he wanted to see me that much). I went and looked at his much more closely. It was the same picture LK was using on his official profile, I looked at his @ and it was sneaky, but he had typed the name the same except for a tiny little . that you couldn't really see unless you looked hard ( with my magnifying lamp, my eyesight sucks)in between 2 letters. People would assume it was him. By this time I had stopped responding to him. While I was deciding if I should call him out ( him, her, they, them, who really knows) in the blink of an eye it was gone! The whole conversation, the profile, the message request, all of it. Except..... I still have the phone number that I wrote down. It's probably a burner phone anyway. I considered trying to contact the real Lenny Kravitz to let him know someone is using his actual posts to deceive his fans for whatever purpose ( money scams, nudes, ?), but would he even respond if I messaged him? I still feel like he'd want to know & wouldn't be cool with it. He's always been about love, Zen, and positivity. Idk I will think about it some more. The moral of this VERY long story ( if you are still here reading, bless you, I think I was a writer in a past life) is this kiddies..... being a cynical insomniac that finds herself buffering to and fro in the vast void that is RUclips on a scarily regular basis and in having a enormous file of useless information on which to draw a wide variety of ...... crap is NOT necessarily a bad thing....🖤

One of the reasons why I hate online dating is I've had this happen to me so many times. Women either sending you pictures of someone else or incredibly photo shopped, or what I would believe to be scammers sending pictures of women. And I would do a reverse Image check on any picture I got to make sure it's not some porn actress or some thing. That's how bad it got. Also I don't know if it was the women themselves were scammers, but I've lost track of how many butt hole pics I would get.
I've never seen an ad on here. I have her channel whitelisted just like the other channels I want to support, they show the ads but not here. :( I've been tinkering, but I'll get it fixed somehow.

ON Facebook several times, I have had people trying to convince me that they were Shemar Moore. Even calling me Baby Girl. They told me that they needed donations for a charity set up by Shemar Moore. I sort of played along for a while, trying to get as much info on them as possible. Then I set up an Anti Fake Shemar Moore page trying to warn other fans about these people. They got SOOOOO creative. So many people were targeted. Some even sent money to these people, and next time the victim tried to contact 'Shemar Moore' the numbers or email addresses no longer worked. I think Shemar Moore made a post a few years ago sharing his actual account names on each social media platform. I also posted them on my anti fan page, so people would know to only trust those accounts. Every now and then someone still posts on my page, sharing the info of another scam artists. Some of these fans got their whole lives torn apart and their hearts broken. It makes me sooo sad.
I'm a natural born cynic and ALWAYS search phone numbers ( yahoo chat was big in my late 20's- early 30's), and now with all the phone scams and such. There are several sites that keep tabs on safe/Not safe phone numbers.

I proceeded to give them my real first name obviously and then a fake last name, fake social, address and birthdate. The man said "HmMmMm, yeah, I confirmed this is indeed you, but you're gonna need help to keep out of jail!" I then went along with it for another few seconds and admitted that I lied about all my info and I know for a fact, that they weren't shit! He went from pretend professional, to "fuck you, I am all the polices and will come take you to jail!" 😂 Now, I just pretend to be a special Ed 8 year old and ask them if they want to come check out my dad's Chevy, and ask if they want to buy it with a free vacuum in the truck bed. 😄

The overseas marine thing is rife on dating sites atm. The sheer amount of guys I've spoken to with that basic story is bizarre. One even told me a really disturbing story about escaping a concentration camp in Chechnya. I almost believed him until he tried to sting me for a plane ticket to escape to Australia 🙄

It’s not your fault at someone trying to trick you and sometimes they’re good at it. That’s why I recommend meeting in person after less than a week some thing very casual, but still in a public place. You will be able to see if they are real or not. Otherwise do not waste your time so many catfish out there
My Pre-Catfish Catfish Story: Way back in 1996 when the mysterious interweb thing had only been around for 6 or so years, give or take, my ex-husband like to chat with girl "friends" he met while in AOL and Netscape chat rooms. Apparently one started sending pics to him and he showed me to "prove" that he wasn't cheating on me. She was cute, I admit, and he fell hard for her. She was more worldly, more exciting and exotic-looking, everything a bored husband-child could want after being chained down to adult responsibility for the whopping 7 years we'd been married. You know those "oh let's not shut this down yet 'cause watching this is gonna be a helluva lot more fun" moments in life? Yeah...months later she admitted that the pictures she kept sending him was of her dead sister that she thought was always prettier than her. Sad, but a little psycho creepy and a whole lotta messed up to do that to a guy.
Bonus Chapter: The lesson wasn't learned. He ended up meeting a girl from Poland online, immigrated her over to the US, got married, and she immediately popped out about 4 kids that he now has to take care of instead of living a very rich life with just me. Guys, be careful. The grass on the internet may look greener thanks to Photoshopping catfish!

Get at least one form doesn’t mean you have to use it just have some thing with real pictures of yourself even if it’s like three real pictures better to have something than nothing because a lot of people do consider it a red flag. I personally don’t but it’s a little odd if they don’t even have anything, I typically, trust people to have things they just haven’t posted to in a long time. I definitely don’t like social media either.. But it is a good way to check if someone is a catfish or not

It's hard to let go of the dream... Especially after you have given money. It's like you can't admit to yourself you have been played because of the financial/emotional investment. And the more people tell you you're being conned, the more you dig your heels in. There are a couple of good sites for finding people who are recorded as con artists... And groups that can help.
My dad was being catfished earlier this year. She was from New York and they talked for months. I didn’t know how to tell him. I mean she was half his age and gorgeous, and my dad isn’t exactly young anymore. She then pretended to be kidnapped: had her friend call him from her phone and was asking for ransom money. My dad called the cops and apparently she was a real person, but was scamming him. I knew something like that would happen... really hurt him too. He just wouldn’t listen

They got most of the staff sick, including my husband, who brought it home to me. Im on chemo so this isn't a small thing for me. I've sold two cars, and a jet ski online, and I can vouch for the reality of these scammers. Literally hundreds of scammers across those three large transactions. It was interesting picking my way through them.

But she became very well known and I think her family disowned her and she was getting death threats from muslim people who were offended by the scene. And I think she barely made any money from them compared to what the porn industry made from her videos. And a lot of people think it's messed up how she had to go through all of that and didn't get the money that she should've

Actually, the language rules are a bit contradictory. The words "giraffe" and "gin" have a soft g, but "gift" and "gild" (as in cover with gold, not "guild" a group of skilled craftsmen) have a hard g. The English language's pronunciation rules are so muddled. I don't remember most of what I learned in Spanish class, but every word in Spanish has a pronunciation that can be deciphered from the spelling of the word. It is so much nicer and easier.

I always Google phone numbers I don't recognize & check if they are on any scam lists. I'm in my 50's so I seem to be in a pretty popular age demographic. Who knew?!?
In the past year I have:
1." Had a warrent for my arrest by a sheriff's department in Washington state" ( I don't live in WA).
2. " Had my Yahoo mail account hacked & they need my info to verify who I am" ( yahoo knows my name is not "Dear Customer").
3. " Had ALL my accounts frozen by the IRS pending verification of my personal information". ( again, the IRS knows my name).
4. " Had my social security suspended due to possible fraud and MUST contact them immediately to verify WHO I AM". ( social security does not call. They send letters, ALWAYS).
5. (And my favorite)... " Had a uncle who was chief advisor & friend to a Nigerian Prince who's life he saved from an assassination attempt! The Prince had no family left ( victims of political unrest), and being forever indebted to my brave & loyal uncle, made him the beneficiary of his entire 14 million US dollar ( like 5 billion Nigerian Naira) estate!!! Unfortunately, just a few months after the prince's death my poor uncle also became ill & passed. My uncle instructed the lawyer handling the estate that as uncle's favorite niece it was all to go to me. As sad as it is to have lost such a loving family member, it is incredibly exciting to imagine the good I could do with that amount of money. The thing is that the lawyer has to smuggle the money out of Nigeria as the government wants to take it for their own ( dun...dun...dun). It needs to be done soon, before they find it, so the lawyer needs me to send $800 to pay the courier to get it out of the country and sent to me. The lawyer of course will receive his fee for handling everything then the rest will be mine". There is just one small thing that's making nervous about it all...... I don't have an Uncle!
You would think if these people put ALL the creativity they seem to have towards a venture that would give them a steady income rather than the droughts between the naive marks they manipulate it would be alot less work.
OMG: I just remembered my Instagram encounter with Lenny Kravitz!!! Ok real quick.....
A couple of months ago I was scrolling Insta & and came upon a post of Lenny Kravitz. He was wishing Lionel Richie a happy birthday. I liked & commented HB Mr. Richie & 2 of the most beautiful people in the world...blah....blah ( I'm older and these were people big in my time - been in love with LK since I was a teen). About 10 min later I get a message & it says Lenny Kravitz wants to message you!!! My heart stopped for 10 seconds & I almost pissed myself.... I clicked on accept and EVERYTHING looked the same as the birthday post. Names, icon pic, all of it & I was freaking out. He said hello, I said hello ( Had it been Lionel after he said hello I would have to say ....is it me your looking for? I would have hated myself forever if I didn't, I digress), LK asks me my favorite songs of his & I named a bunch, then he says it so nice to meet a true fan. I fan girled slightly & asked how his daughter was, and how I loved his mother on the Jeffersons, was sorry she had passed. He inquired about my family and after a bit more chatting he said he was enjoying chatting with me & wanted to give me his private number, but I would have to understand his need for privacy .... yadda....yadda. I said of course and he gave me a phone number. Which I wrote down immediately . Chatted more about other pleasantries, then he said that I should give him my WhatsApp. I said I don't have one. (The euphoria was dying slightly at this point), He said I should get one cause it's better for chatting and sending pictures. I grabbed my tablet, as I was on my phone and Googled the phone number. It came back as in North Carolina ( LK has been spending most of his time in Hawaii according to his Insta posts & had no ties I could find to North Carolina), meanwhile we are still chatting and then it clicked in my fan girl brain. I had a couple weeks prior to this watched a video about and older man in Australia who was in the music business for decades and had worked with Olivia Newton John as she came up in the early years of her career. He was recently widowed and lonely & ONJ was battling cancer. He decided to leave some kind words on her Facebook & was shocked & delighted when she messaged him back. They began talking and it came to the point were they were talking everyday and had a budding romance. He started sending her money and gifts ...The way these things tend to go. The thing that clicked for me was this older man showed messages from their first interaction and the wording was EXACTLY the same as the conversation I was having with LK at that very moment. Word for Word! Turns out in the video they tracked the woman (ONJ) and asked her all the pertanent questions & there are tons of these imposters pretending to be celebrities and establishing relationships with die-hard fans who message them on socials and scamming money, gifts, "pictures" for blackmail & humiliation I imagine. Anyway, LK keeps asking if I downloaded WhatsApp yet, he wanted me to send him a picture of me ( we were on Insta he could look at my profile if he wanted to see me that much). I went and looked at his much more closely. It was the same picture LK was using on his official profile, I looked at his @ and it was sneaky, but he had typed the name the same except for a tiny little . that you couldn't really see unless you looked hard ( with my magnifying lamp, my eyesight sucks)in between 2 letters. People would assume it was him. By this time I had stopped responding to him. While I was deciding if I should call him out ( him, her, they, them, who really knows) in the blink of an eye it was gone! The whole conversation, the profile, the message request, all of it. Except..... I still have the phone number that I wrote down. It's probably a burner phone anyway. I considered trying to contact the real Lenny Kravitz to let him know someone is using his actual posts to deceive his fans for whatever purpose ( money scams, nudes, ?), but would he even respond if I messaged him? I still feel like he'd want to know & wouldn't be cool with it. He's always been about love, Zen, and positivity. Idk I will think about it some more.
The moral of this VERY long story ( if you are still here reading, bless you, I think I was a writer in a past life) is this kiddies..... being a cynical insomniac that finds herself buffering to and fro in the vast void that is RUclips on a scarily regular basis and in having a enormous file of useless information on which to draw a wide variety of ...... crap is NOT necessarily a bad thing....🖤

One of the reasons why I hate online dating is I've had this happen to me so many times. Women either sending you pictures of someone else or incredibly photo shopped, or what I would believe to be scammers sending pictures of women. And I would do a reverse Image check on any picture I got to make sure it's not some porn actress or some thing. That's how bad it got. Also I don't know if it was the women themselves were scammers, but I've lost track of how many butt hole pics I would get.

I’m an introvert living off the grid. I literally have zero SM…zero. I don’t think it’s that unusual.
ON Facebook several times, I have had people trying to convince me that they were Shemar Moore. Even calling me Baby Girl. They told me that they needed donations for a charity set up by Shemar Moore. I sort of played along for a while, trying to get as much info on them as possible. Then I set up an Anti Fake Shemar Moore page trying to warn other fans about these people. They got SOOOOO creative. So many people were targeted. Some even sent money to these people, and next time the victim tried to contact 'Shemar Moore' the numbers or email addresses no longer worked.
I think Shemar Moore made a post a few years ago sharing his actual account names on each social media platform. I also posted them on my anti fan page, so people would know to only trust those accounts.
Every now and then someone still posts on my page, sharing the info of another scam artists. Some of these fans got their whole lives torn apart and their hearts broken. It makes me sooo sad.
I'm a natural born cynic and ALWAYS search phone numbers ( yahoo chat was big in my late 20's- early 30's), and now with all the phone scams and such. There are several sites that keep tabs on safe/Not safe phone numbers.

She sent us a picture in the mail of a VERY BEAUTIFUL GIRL and for 2 months we would fight over who would get to talk to her. Until we figured out it was the not so pretty girl Catfishing us... Such a horrible feeling

I legit got a call from a scammer and they said "I'm a Tennessee ranger and your social security number is stolen. Now lets work to confirm you are you!"
I proceeded to give them my real first name obviously and then a fake last name, fake social, address and birthdate. The man said "HmMmMm, yeah, I confirmed this is indeed you, but you're gonna need help to keep out of jail!" I then went along with it for another few seconds and admitted that I lied about all my info and I know for a fact, that they weren't shit! He went from pretend professional, to "fuck you, I am all the polices and will come take you to jail!" 😂 Now, I just pretend to be a special Ed 8 year old and ask them if they want to come check out my dad's Chevy, and ask if they want to buy it with a free vacuum in the truck bed. 😄

The overseas marine thing is rife on dating sites atm. The sheer amount of guys I've spoken to with that basic story is bizarre. One even told me a really disturbing story about escaping a concentration camp in Chechnya. I almost believed him until he tried to sting me for a plane ticket to escape to Australia 🙄
