Hey, beautiful internet fam! 🌟 Charlotte here, and today we're diving deep into the wild world of gym influencers who've taken the term "fitness fanatic" to a whole new level. Buckle up, fam, 'cause we're about to spill the protein shake on some influencers who might've gone a tad too far on the gains train!
🏋️‍♂️💪 Brace yourselves for a rollercoaster of bicep curls and questionable decisions as we explore the stories of those fitness gurus who've blurred the line between motivation and, well, madness.
🚨 From the ones who practically live in the gym (do they even sleep?), to those who've turned their diet into a science experiment (bro, is that a chicken breast or a spaceship?), we're uncovering the jaw-dropping journeys of these influencers who took the phrase "no pain, no gain" a bit too literally.
🔥 Get ready for some epic workout fails, insane meal prep rituals, and the social media stunts that left us all scratching our heads. Are those 20 protein bars in one sitting really necessary, or are we witnessing the birth of the next superhero? 🦸‍♂️
🤯 We'll also be spilling the tea on the not-so-healthy side of the fitness world. From extreme dieting to questionable supplements, we're lifting the veil on what happens when the pursuit of a six-pack becomes an obsession.
🙌 But hey, it's not all doom and gloom! We'll be celebrating the positive side of fitness, too. Let's not forget the influencers who inspire us to crush our goals without losing sight of our sanity. 🌈
So, grab your protein shake, hit that subscribe button, and join me on this journey through the highs, the lows, and the downright bizarre moments in the lives of gym influencers who might've just gone a tad too far. 💯 Don't forget to comment below with your thoughts and, of course, your own gym stories! Let's keep this conversation sweaty, hilarious, and always real. Stay fierce, stay fit, and remember, you're awesome just the way you are! 💖✨

Y’all! I wanted to add something - don’t let the crappy people in this video stop you from going to the gym! They are in the minority! I promise once you get over that initial anxiety, you’ll be happy you went. This coming from someone who just started working out again and I had so much anxiety about what my body looked like and what people would think. You got this 💪🏻

I think banning cameras/filming in the gym would solve a lot of these problems both from the influences living out their main character syndrome to the secretly filming people to mock them online.

I think there's a lot of important uses of cameras in these spaces (people record themselves to make sure theyre doing it correctly and not going to hurt themselves or actual creeps being creeps) but gyms should totally have a rule that you can get banned with no refund if you post other gym goers online without permission.

I was a manager at a corporate gym and older people came in and sat around like that for several reasons.
We offered silver sneakers memberships and they would come to see what the gym was like.
We also had senior classes so would be waiting for the class time. Others mostly men like this, were waiting for their wives who were in the class.
Sometimes they’re waiting for a tour of the equipment or to meet a personal trainer for therapy.
Never once did I have an old creeper.

It's not just guys who are scared of ending up on a tiktok - as an overweight woman, the thought of having these people filming or making fun of me when I'm trying to work out makes me feel so anxious. It's happened before, and I feel like I'm right back in high school, and not in a good way... Would completely support banning filming in gyms

    • @ADHDpancakesurprise

I totally feel you on this. I used to weigh over 300lbs and the idea of a gym was terrifying for exactly that reason. I'm no longer overweight and I do go to the gym regularly. (It's a great gym. Very welcoming no matter where you are in your fitness journey.) I've decided if any wanna be influencers end up filming at my gym I'm going to do the absolute stupidest dance I can manage in the background the whole time. If they complain I'm just going to tell them that I like attention too and keep doing my thing. I'm 50 years old and no longer get embarrassed so I'm happy to act the fool 😂

I told her I think, “Good for them!” And I hope that you don’t let this ridiculous generation stop you from being a healthier you. YOU DESERVE TO BE YOUR BEST SELF IN ALL WAYS. Never ever doubt that! For the Hernandez girl, she was rolling around on the floor, messing with some kind of straps, taking forever to even try lifting, and looking around like she was lost and confused while mumbling to herself. I'd be keeping an eye on her too because she's either crazy or going to hurt herself. I don't think he thought she was cute, he was seeing if she needed help, or watching out in case she did get hurt.

This trend of women claiming people looking at them is harassing them is really infuriating to me, because when I was ACTUALLY harassed at the gym, had a man attempt to grope me in the pool and he said repulsive sexual things to me, it took me reporting him 4 times (2 times he harassed me, and twice I watched him harass other women including attempting to grope them, asking them sexual questions, and each time he tried to block both me and these other women from exiting the hot tub/pool) before finally a female employee took me seriously and got him banned. I think they didn’t take my complaints seriously because of people online like this that claim harassment when there is none.

    • @kawh8719
      @kawh8719 9 месяцев назад +55

I emphasize with the pain and fear you must have felt when that happened to you. I wish more people stood up for you and also called out the harassment you faced. Any gym that refuses to take the safety of their members seriously should be named/shamed/sued imo.

    • @Starcatt966
      @Starcatt966 9 месяцев назад +35

That’s horrifying. If anything like that ever happens again, just know you have the right to report that to the police because sexual assault is a serious crime. That gym is legally responsible for ensuring that their members are safe and the gym could face legal consequences for not protecting people.

Once, I started working out in the summer before HS and I was running. I was chubby insecure, teenage girl att, and literally, the guy who signed me up was laughing at me for jogging with coworkers. It broke me, I reported him, he got fired but I still quit that gym. I had to work really hard at rededicating myself to recovering my mindset. My mom signed me up to a luxury gym by our house as an incentive to help.
Being able to finish in a jacuzzi and steam room got me motivated and excited again. So when I saw a larger man struggling with the same thing, getting laughed out like the first guy by some douchebags, my bro and I went over and encouraged him. It wasn't a big thing, but we started checking in with him when we saw him. When he hit his first goal, he thanked us at the gym and invited us to go out with him and his husband. We all celebrated his goal, and now we're friends outside the gym. Larger people dont need to be shamed. I was and most people are aware of our bodies. But encouraging anyone should always be the right option, not shaming them.

I then found a new gym through a friend where the owner was tired of all the toxicity. NEVER had a better experience in my life going to the gym. Everybody helping each other. No toxic shit. Doesn't matter if it's loosing weight, building muscle or just want to learn proper techniques. They also teach you about nutrition and exercise so you can uphold your result on your own later on. 🙌 and the owner and the coaches are bloody heroes. It's not about making as much money as possible, it's actually about helping people succeed and you can feel that every time you enter the gym. I think that's why we are all so close and theres no bullshit. We want everyone to succeed. 🥹

Exactly. I mean a greater proportion of those who film themselves will have main character syndrome but most people just going about their business, especially those who have to modify for biomechanics or because they need to switch it up (both in my case), are going to think maybe someone just sees a new movement, tweak or admires the work, rather than instant creep. I had always admired a woman’s arms at the gym. I got up the courage to tell her that I was impressed and asked her for pointers. She told me how she targeted certain aspects. Now a year later, I got a tap on the arm and was told my arms are #goals😊.

That is going to be my new mantra: "They don't care about you, they just want the equipment."

He's also not afraid to go up to people and strike up a conversation about what they're doing, though he may be hesitant to ask them for their help. Just something to think about if you see older people in the gym. Maybe ask them if they need help on the equipment if they've been hanging around it.

There's also the fact that he is not in any type of 'gym' outfit. He might be checking out the gym for the first time, to get an idea of what type of equipment they have, and how it works. Might be someone's dad or husband who gave a family member a ride to the gym and is just waiting for them to finish their workout. They might be there because the person who is working out doesn't feel safe being by themselves around people they don't know, and he is there for moral support and another set of eyes.
Lots of possibilities where the explanation is not at all creepy.

He said his dad was like the kids in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, looking around, wide-eyed in amazement at all the equipment and people. He said he saw bodies move in ways he never thought possible, and was rapt by everyone. He's the least creepy person I've known, the sweetest, kindest man, but to strangers seeing him there, maybe he looked like a creep to them. Once, I started working out in the summer before HS AT A PLANET FITNESSS 😂 and I was running.

It is not a dangerous exercise at all (when performed correctly of course). I'm not taking her or his side, because I wasn't there and cannot judge without more context. But to me, she looked like she knew what she was doing, her form looked fine and the barbell didn't seem too heavy for her. She didn't need his help to remove the plate from the barbell. To unload a barbell, you have to lift it slightly and slide the weight off at the same time, so it can be a little awkward even for more experienced lifters, but she didn't need his help. If she put the plate on that barbell, she can unload it just fine. I don't necessarily agree with her filming, calling him out etc. but I've had men trying to "help" me in that way before and they just use this as a way to talk to you and it's annoying when you're trying to work out and you clearly do not need their "help".

I was almost one of them, but I mustered up the courage. I was honestly scared I was gonna do something embarrassing or wrong and have it caught on video. I was scared of being pointed out because I didn't know exactly what I was doing half the time. Basically, those girls were my nightmare. LITERALLY pointing and laughing at an innocent stranger. Why couldn't they help him? Or build him up? Or, idk, just leave him the f*$k alone!? Judgemental pieces of sour garbage. Any person who works up the nerve to go to the gym to better themselves deserves to be applauded. Even if they're not doing a workout correctly, they're still moving their body, burning calories, and making progress. Hell, if I want to stand in a corner and do jumping jacks for 5 hours straight, then that's my perogative. I'm putting forth effort, and that's not something to be shamed. Either be kind and give me advice, or leave me alone. "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

I feel so bad for the silver-haired gentlemen who appears around minute 8. I have seen older folks start going to the gym because their doctor suggested more exercise for health reasons or after surgery, or even people trying to make new friends. People can't always afford gym clothes, especially when they are just starting out. I agree with the commentor who said he looks confused. Maybe, instead if filming this man (who was not paying any mind to the person behind the camera) she could have said, "Oh hi. I don't think I've seen you here before. Are you new to the gym?" You're in the gym. It's a safe place to start a conversation. If he was in fact a creep (which I doubt) it makes it clear he is being seen, and if he's not (which is much more likely) now he feels more welcome.

First day- was confronted what I labeled the skinny bi@#*'s- perfect bodies/in their 20's -criticized everything from what I was wearing to ever aspect of my workout. Tried to stay clear but they sought me out- cruel comments like-God if I was that fat I would just kill myself. Workouts got shorter and left in tears. But then realized one of the skinny B's worked there. Got mad. Well I talked to the manager/owner and told him what was going on.After some threats from me-he let me break my contract. One thing people have gone too far about imo is organic interactions. So what if someone actually strikes up a conversation because they're interested in you? That's how friendships and possible relationships USED to happen. Nowadays instead of meeting people organically where they actually might have something in common, they get mad at anyone looking in their direction (usually while they are FILMING THEMSELVES and wearing tight clothes to look MORE attractive while working out), and prefer to complain about how they're single and meet bad guys off of apps.
I'm a gym girlie myself and would love to meet people and make friends with others at the gym. I'm taken so I'm not interested in a relationship, but assuming the guys are decent and can handle rejection if you're not interested, there is no harm with approaching or flirting with people or literally saying hello and making friends?? Like, the fact that someone thinks you're so beautiful or interesting to go up to you and try taking a chance if anything, is quite flattering. Not something to mock. That person you ignore and blast on tiktok might not even want a relationship, but just create a friendly gym atmosphere. Could have been your new best friend, or blossom into something more. But now it'll never happen and everyone needs to be lonelier or rely on apps when it could have been natural.

    • @PandaZelda
      @PandaZelda 9 месяцев назад +13

The gym can especially be isolating for a lot of people, especially newbies, and it would be wonderful to create a friendly community like aspect so people don't feel as intimidated, form new friendships and accountability partners. I've approached many guys asking them how they use certain machines and they're all super friendly and excited to demonstrate and help you with weights or offer to spot; even though I'm in ugly clothes and no makeup and stuff, because they know I'm there to WORK OUT and not blast them and film them in the gym to try to start something. They're friendly and motivating and some of them who are super ripped and look like they were born in the gym used to be 300+ pounds, offer great tips and genuinely WELCOME me and remember me each time I go. I love gym bro culture tbh because it's welcoming and safe. I just hate that it's often one-sided. Even as a woman I'm intimidated by anyone wearing tight leggings and crop tops because I'm worried they'll accuse ME of harassing them.

The content getting called out in Charlotte's video really makes my heart hurt. Toxic behavior is becoming more and more the norm, whereas kindness should be the order of the day. The guy in the first video was so polite, that twitch streamer really demonized his kindness when he tried to help her with the weight. I've recently started working out again and have had wonderfully friendly people help me much like this guy did.
Also what was said about the older gentleman really triggered me. My father was told by his doctor to work out more, but he was kind of lost like this when we went together. Might I make a suggestion as someone who was where you are now, two years and 45 pounds ago, as well as having a husband, 90 pounds ago, with extreme anxiety surrounding this exact scenario? Start small. Start by doing whatever you can at home until you NEED bigger, heavier equipment, if you even desire that. Go for the low hanging fruit. We just aimed for 10000 steps and rather than cutting foods, simply aimed to control portions of things that we knew to be less nutritionally optimal (soda, dessert) and increased protein. We then moved to looking at calories in and out, not perfect but to get a ballpark, increased intensity of walking and added music. It wasn’t until about 8 months later that we moved to a gym, mostly due to snowy winters 🥶 and by then it was a habit, something for ourselves and we had come far enough that we could work hard and not worry so much. We were more worried about backsliding than what anyone else would say. Don’t let someone else’s shortcomings affect your goals. You cannot fix their issues.

I was with a friend and had just helped him set up the weights on the equipment. I sat down 2 set ups away to keep an eye on him. Well my friend and i burst out laughing and asked for the Manager.
When she arrived and was told the complaint she too burst out laughing and told the girl to stop bothering him or she'd be banned.
Why you may ask. Well my friend was legally blind, that's why i was keeping an eye on him. He was also at the gym to improve his physique for his long time, live in Boyfriend who was a co owner of the Gym. So yeah, He didn't see her, and she definitely wasn't the woman for him lol

The gym girl is valid for feeling uncomfortable but not valid for posting it. She’s right about her past trauma and the gym making her see this interaction one way and she didn’t try to see it any other way. It’s also hard for the good men at the gym who are just trying to work out or potentially help others cause girls like this make them feel like that isn’t possible.

You have the right word there, girls. As in immature female children. Women who are mature have learned to control their reactions and be proactive about themselves. Also they would not be filming in the gym to respect everyone's space. Sam Sulek is 21 and he films in the gym and has an attitude as well. Even though he looks like a 30 yr old man he does not act like it.

Half of these videos make me want to continue avoiding the gym, even as a plus size person wanting to start a fitness journey. Just playground bullies…. But the other half of these videos give me hope I’ll go, one day. Until then, in Joey Swoll we trust, and I’ll keep at it with the RUclips workouts 😅

I hate how everybody with a phone and a tiktok wants to call themselves an influencer. I've always hated that word in general, and it's only gotten worse. There are plenty of ways to make videos without being a public nuisance, and I wish these people would care about anything other than their own nonsense.

I am a fitness instructor at a couple of gyms. Filming truly has gotten out of hand. The Jewish community center I teach at does not allow videotaping inside the workout areas. It is a shame how working out has become entertainment instead of self betterment. Sad part is when I see men and women wearing outfits that automatically attract attention and a look. Whether their style is negative or positive. Those same individuals are the ones who are uncomfortable with people, staring and claim everybody is a creep. My best advice for everybody out there, Just simply be yourself. Don’t worry about anybody else around you and what they are doing. Most of the time nobody is paying attention to what you are doing either. 🏋️‍♀️💪🧘‍♀️🤸‍♀️

I wish that were true, but unfortunately harassment by men to women, and sometimes the other way around, is there way too much.

Agree, the women who dress in EXTREMELY tight & accentuating clothing have no claim to be bothered by glances. They have the right to wear what they wish to-but don’t play a victim card if we all can see your camel toe, ass, and boobs… like seriously IM a woman and i will find myself looking lol.. The folk that are unfit and trying to better themselves should not be harassed or mocked.. they came and are trying! Its sad that we have these situations at the gym. I hope here in the near future there is ZERO tolerance for filming or mocking in the gym area/locker room of the gym.

I honestly think there are a lot of women out there that want to play victim and hype up their own attractiveness. I've been working out in gyms since I was 18 and I have never had any issues. I've only ever had positive experiences at the gym. I'll be 32 in Feb and I've gone while very skinny and I've gone while morbidly obese. I've never been treated poorly at the gym. People need to get over themselves.

I've taught water fitness to regular populations and to men & women who had various disabilities, as well as teaching regular fitness & working out in gyms. I've also gone on actual SA crisis calls. These influencers are awful. I have not seen the behavior these influencer are trying to portray it being. They do make it harder for true victims of inappropriate behavior. Thank you Charlotte Dobre for posting these. I did not know how awful people have been because again, the people I have witnessed have been working toward being the best they can be in a workout situation.

Personally, when I'm in the gym, I made it a point to stay away from influencers. I am chubby, and this seems to be a huge factor for influencers. I've found that if they don't see you as someone who's pretty, they are more likely to give you dirty looks. But the more popular, or pretty you are, the less they are mean, and the more they are kind and respectful towards you.

I used to be self conscious in the gym for years, my form, the weight I was using, etc. I always thought I was being judged, and my husband would always say "no one is looking at you babe, I promise. They're just working out."
After COVID I go to the gym and don't look or care about what anyone else is doing. And he was totally right, no one cares what you're doing 😂
