Hey everyone, it's Charlotte Dobre here, and today we're going to be talking about entitled people. Have you ever wondered what it was like to spend a day in the life of an entitled person? You know the type - those individuals who think that the world owes them something, who demand special treatment and believe that rules don't apply to them.
In this video, we're going to delve into the psychology of entitled people, exploring why they act the way they do and what makes them think that they're above everyone else. We'll also be sharing some stories and examples of entitled behavior, both in real life and on social media.
From the entitled Karen who demands to speak to the manager over the slightest inconvenience, to the entitled influencer who thinks they deserve freebies just because of their follower count, we'll be taking a closer look at the various forms that entitlement can take.
But it's not all doom and gloom - we'll also be discussing ways to deal with entitled people, whether you're dealing with them in your personal life or in a customer service or work setting. We'll share some tips on how to set boundaries, stand up for yourself, and avoid getting caught up in their entitlement trap.
So, if you're ready to learn more about entitled people and how to deal with them, make sure to hit that subscribe button and tune in to this video. Let's get started!

I love poking fun at social media, weddings, entitled people, tiktok and OF COURSE petty people. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

First story: as a white-passing Mexican, I get so much joy when someone decides to talk crap, right in front of me, not knowing I understand everything they are saying. A few years ago, I went into a Mexican market, next to my home, to pick up a few things. I had just gotten off of work so I was still in my corporate clothes. A family (mom, dad, and daughter), stood in line behind me. Almost immediately, this mom was tearing me apart, saying things like, "This white girl has to be lost. What is she doing here? Look at how's she's dressed. She thinks she's better than us," and so on. The daughter agreed. I said nothing. Then came my turn to pay. The cashier knew I was a regular and started speaking to me in Spanish and, of course, I responded also in Spanish and just made small talk. I heard laughter behind me and it was the dad. The mom looked mortified, the daughter refused to look at me, and the dad could not stop laughing. I wished them a good night and left with the biggest smile on my face.

I'm Viet/Chinese and I'm so used to people thinking I am anything but. I've been told I look Japanese, Korean, Filipino, etc. One thing about me is that I LOVE getting my nails done. Almost a decade ago I went to a new nail salon on my lunch break and while I was there a technician that was in between clients came over and started talking about my weight. How I was fat and that I need to lose weight because I'd be so much prettier blah blah blah. My technician looked at her like gtfo. It was obvious she was uncomfortable. She asked me something in English and I decided to take that chance to respond to her in Viet. The look my technician gave the other girl, and the look on the other girl's face and the back peddling she tried to do was *chefs kiss*. She hid in the break room after that.

I experienced the language issue. I took French for six years, so I understood it well. My brother and I were having dinner, and two women speaking French were being rude about us, not knowing we were family and not dating, because they wanted to do things with him. We finished dinner, paid, and Terry walked away because he spotted someone he knew. I paused by the table where the bitches were and explained in French that Terry was too smart to give them the time of day, and he'd never been intersted in cheap hookers. Their shock was priceless.

As an older woman, I have zero problem putting an old entitled man or woman in their place. The reason they behave this way is because they've been enabled for decades. He was trying to return a DVD player. Rules are we have to check the serial number from the device to the box and receipt. Needless to say it didn't match. 1:35 A few years ago I was on the bus with a friend who's hard of hearing. She can hear but it's difficult for her, so we usually talk in sign language. In front of us were two elderly Karens and they were talking sh*t about us because they thought we couldn't hear them. I had to hop off the bus on the next stop, so I got up, walked to the door, turned around and said to my friend, loudly, that I'd text her later that day and then I told those two Karens that it's disgusting to talk sh*t about people who (allegedly) can't hear them, right in front of them. Like, ma'am, I cannot grow your car to allow you to stick this couch in the trunk or tied to the roof. We'll hold the item for 48 hours so you can find a truck. She storms off. So I was in line to grab some water in Chichen Itzá, in Cancún, México. Three adult males (around 23yo, and American judging by their accents) were standing next to the line minding their business when a kid, she must have been around 10 years old, passed by riding a bike. They stopped her and asked her (in English) where she had gotten the bike and how much it cost.
The girl, Mexican like me, understood and tried her best to articulate an answer in English. When she stuttered, they all burst out laughing at her, even mocking her pronunciation. You should've seen her face :(
Right after, she was trying and failing to get back onto the bike to escape the situation, and that's when I jumped in.
I approached her and asked her if she was okay, and she just hugged me and started sobbing. I practically yelled at those guys saying they should be ashamed for making her cry and that they had no right to expect everyone in a foreign country to speak their language. They kinda started to mutter apologies, but that's when the girl's parents showed up. Two Mexican adults who could fluently insult the dudes in English. Guys, I've never seen anyone perfectly insult someone else in such a flawless combination of two different languages ever since.
Then, more people took notice of the situation. They asked me what had happened -since the parents were busy slaying the dudes- and when every Spanish-speaking person got a hang of what was going on, even some Spanish and Argentinian people... oof. I think I wreaked havoc right there. I'm sure they were about to turn those guys into the last Mayan sacrifice lol. Even some Portuguese and English people joined in at the end!
Anyway, after being slain and humiliated in so many languages including their own, the dudes decided to leave the place. I made the little girl laugh before leaving her with her parents, their parents hugged me, I got my bottle of water, and I contemplated the meaning of Mayan sacrifice for the rest of my tour. Haha.

I was a concierge at an upscale hotel. We had a guy who stayed at our hotel often, who was known to be super entitled. One night he came up to the desk and told my supervisor he needed a reservation at the most popular restaurant in our area (booked weeks in advance) for a party of 6 (good luck, buddy) at 7pm. It was 6:45pm. We called the restaurant to inquire if there had been any cancellations, which there were none. When my supervisor explained that option wasn't available, he told my supervisor to have the restaurant cancel someone else's reservation so they could go instead. When my supervisor explained that's not going to happen, this fully grown-ass adult said, and I quote, "well if you can't do your job right, I'm just going to go to the restaurant anyway and throw a fit until they find me a table." As he stormed off, I called the restaurant. I explained the situation, as a heads up, and requested that they do everything in their power to make sure they didn't accommodate his party. When he arrived, he had a full tantrum, stomping feet, screaming and threatening to get people fired. Not only did he not get to eat there, he was also asked to never come back.

I've been working retail for almost 3 years and I had the worst customer and best customer in the same shift. I have pretty bad social anxiety so I'm already terrified of disappointing people all day every day so when customers get upset with me I feel about an inch tall and want the earth to swallow me up. I had also lost my sister 2 months prior to this event so I was fragile to say the least, I'm still fragile 2 years later but at that time I was on the verge of tears basically 24/7.
The worst customer I ever had was when time a man made me cry because he brought his son in to get his suit measured for tailoring. I work at a dry cleaning place that offers alterations but the owner is the one who does them & I suggested the customer wait to get measured by the owner. I love my boss but unfortunately he's given me no training in measuring alterations. I can make my way around pinning shortening pants and basics but I'm not comfortable measuring a suit jacket for more complex things like altering the shoulders/narrowing the body. I don't want to measure someone incorrectly and then fuck up their clothes so I'm not going to pretend I can just to make myself look good. I told the customer I suggest coming back the next day in the morning when the owner is here because he's the professional and I want your son to get the best result. He then got really upset and said he can't come in the mornings (the owner only works mornings).
So in panic I said I could try my best. I had his son try on the suit and started on just measuring shortening the pants which is what I'm the most comfortable doing. The guy starts to berate his 10 year old son for "not standing straight" while i'm having a heart attack kneeling on the floor. His son was actually standing just fine actually but for some reason the father wanted him stiff as a board. The dad then moves on to berating the son for not having his head perfectly straight??? Straight up it felt like he was just bullying his kid it was quite upsetting, that kid is either going to need a lot of therapy or he's going to end up just like his dad and that's a disturbing thought in itself. I'm trying to measure the pants and the dad tells me i'm doing it wrong and he doesn't want me to use pins because they're going to ruin the pants so then I have to pull out the chalk duster which he says isn't going to work and when it does he just scoffs at me. All of this, about half an hour in to everything, he asks what the cost is for tailoring the suit. I tell him unfortunately we don't have tailoring a kids suit in the system so I can quote him the regular price and the owner will call him tomorrow to confirm the price and i'm sure it will be lower. Dad blows up, yelling at me about messing up the alteration, being unprofessional, that a kids suit should be less (I agree and was sure the owner was going to call with a lower price but can't quote him a price I literally don't know). Yells at his son to change quickly and gives me a death stare on the way out, still boarderline screaming at me for wasting his time. The son looks terrified, i'm on the verge of crying and the second the door closes my legs go out from under me and i'm uncontrollably crying. I suck it up for 30 seconds to walk to the bathroom and then close the door and start weeping.
I think about 10 minutes later a 20 something woman walks into the shop to pick something up and I'm still crying but wipe the tears away and walk out. I'm the only person working so I didn't really have the option to just sit and cry for a bit even though I wanted to. But I totally forgot that I had been wearing mascara though so when she sees me she's just immediately like "Whats wrong? Are you okay?" and i'm trying to hold it together but I must have looked absolutely crazy. Totally puffy and red in the face, makeup smudged everywhere, my voice was teetering on crying again and i'm trying to convince her all is well. She kept asking me if I was okay and what happened and I ended up just telling her I had an upsetting customer (literally wiping away tears). She asked me if I wanted coffee and I kept telling her i was okay and I didn't want to inconvenience her and I just appreciated her asking. After she had talked me down a bit she said she had forgotten her wallet so she had to run back and get it and about 15 minutes later she shows up with a large Starbucks latte for me. She wouldn't take it back, and just said she's worked retail before and she's had bad customers before and she hopes my day gets better.
Every time I have a really bad customer I think about her and it helps me keep it together. I can't remember her name and I wish I had gotten to properly thank her but it reminds me yes there are a lot of entitled, rude and downright mean people out there but there are also people who live kindly and don't ask for anything in return.

I dyed my hair blonde and somehow it made me look European when I’m actually Egyptian Pakistani with Turkish roots from my grandmother’s side and one day i went to the super market and while there I got a call which i had to respond in English instead of Arabic anyway i noticed a man his wife and son shopping near me in the fruit section ,they didn’t think I’m Egyptian so the man proceeded to tell his wife something I didn’t hear then they turned around to their son who looked about 23 to check out my derriere and he did and then he turned to his parents and said yup that 🍑 is my type!! I hanged up the call and turned around and said in Arabic “I’m not into baby eggplants” they looked hella embarrassed safe to say they will never do that again 😂
Ironically that wasn’t the first time that happened to me in that exact market another time a teenager half my age not more 16 walked to me and mumbled something while biting his lip, i pretended i don’t understand what he was saying and just pointed at another aisle and said “ Diapers are that way 👉🏼” he looked confused and just walked away, i wasn’t trying to be mean though I was just concerned because he looked constipated

Oh Charlotte. My mother (also Charlotte) was raised in Libya. We are both red headed Irish women - and we visited London when I was in my late teens/early twenties. We were in a shop in Leicester Square when 2 Arabic men were talking animatedly- my mother turned around and spoke to them in Arabic, and one of them literally jumped over the counter and started apologising. I don’t know what they said, but it lit a fire in my mother and brought back the language that she probably hadn’t spoken for 3 decades. They definitely were not expecting it from her. Still makes me smile to this day.

My first job was at a women's consignment store when I was 17. Three days in a customer tried to take a swing at me over the counter because she thought I had stole her clothes that she had brought into sell. I knew which clothes were hers and where on the racks they were. I began to pull them and threw them out the front door onto the sidewalk. Told her next time I will throw the vacuum at her. After she left I broke down, locked up shop and went home crying. I ended up staying at the job for another 4 years because beside the crazy ladies, it was a hell of a lot of fun and my boss was brilliant!

I went to pick up my mobile order at Starbucks and as I stepped in, I paused to look for a place to go because it was crowded inside. This woman was behind be coming in and yelled, "Excuse Me!" I was startled and I turned to look at her in shock. Then she said in Spanish "Tonta!", which means Idiot. And I didn't say antyhing back because I was so shocked. I still am mad at myself for not responding so yeah, I can feel this girl's emotions! It ruined my day.

They had started ragging on my dad, laughing and saying that they would get my dad to do the worst stuff. Little did they know that my dad understood what was being said. He commented on what they were saying in Vietnamese. They didn’t say anything else about my dad or around my dad after that.

A lady calls and says she hasn't received her contacts. I look it up and she had JUST ordered them the day before. So I apologized and told her about the 3-7 business days as stated on the website and she FLIPPED chickens and screamed at me "what am I supposed to do now?! I'm on my last pair of contacts!" So I apologize and again state the time frame is on the website and she comes back with "you expect me to READ a webpage?! I want a supervisor! You will get me my contacts TODAY!"....for over 30 minutes she went on about how she didn't have time to read a website and did we HONESTLY believe that people read the website? It was....ridiculous.

STORYTIMEE: Ok, so I love learning languages SOOOO much, I am fluent in English, Italian, and ASL (American Sign Language, yes this counts) and I am learning French and German, spanish I can somewhat understand due to me knowing italian but I havent learned it fully yet. anyway, I always have to pronounce and sound "Italian" when speaking italian, like if I sound american while speaking italian I cring. Anyway my mother only knows a few words and she says it VERY american, she just cant do the accent with it, which is totally fine. She wanted to order geloto when we where in italy in Italian, so we practiced and she went in an ordered. Again my mother sounds very american when speaking italian, the lady at the frount nodded, and said "Cretino" (means idiot) under her breath before I went ahead and ordered. So I ordered in perfect italian and said, " Vorrei il gelato alla nutella, ma senza il lato di cagna." Which translate to, "I would like nutella gelato, without the side of bitch." and her face turned white as a ghost, and I have been happy to learn italian every since.

Honestly, for the first story, I imagine the reason why the older lady cursed out OP in Korean is because she has a FLAWLESS American English accent. The older lady probably didn't even think that OP knew the language, given she doesn't have an inkling of an accent. Which, agreed with Charlotte here, would've made it all the more perfect to snap back at her IN KOREAN.

I was under the assumption this happened in the US or Canada. Usually people who are born, grow up, go to school in North America, dont have an accent. It’s more likely that the older lady didn’t think she spoke Korean because a lot of her generation didn’t teach their “home” language to their own kids as a part of assimilation. So there are entire generations of first gen immigrants who don’t know the language from where their parents immigrated from. Also, the girl doesn’t have an “American accent” she IS AMERICAN (or Canadian).

This woman had over a thousand dollars worth of items, but claimed the store should give them to her for free. The supervisor understandably said they weren’t doing that and the entitled woman claimed, “You’ve had a life of privilege, so I deserve to get these things for free!” (There was nothing to indicate the supervisor had lived a life of privilege) She took a swing at the supervisor, and when asked about it by police she claimed she was “trying to teach her about money”. 4:05 - You'd be surprised the service yelling will get you. The last resort I worked at, I worked for the front desk and I was told by the director that if they weren't angry about it, not to do anything. Only if they are yelling or "causing a scene" could I give them what they needed. Which was awful, because the nice ones usually had a valid point with their requests. When I quit, I told them that if they stopped rewarding that type of behavior they'd probably keep more employees. Because that just helps the mentality that people in customer service aren't actual human beings.
One thing I never thought I would have to explain to an adult is bears are dangerous. You think this would be common sense. As stated above I worked at a resort, it happened to be in the mountains in a national park and we got quite a few bears. The amount of times I had adults ask me when the "bear show started" or where all the bears were so they could pet them was ridiculous. I got a phone call one night with a mom that was FURIOUS that our staff members were directing people away from an area that had a bear in it until the proper authorities showed up, because her son wanted to pet it. Now little Jimmy is bawling and pitching a fit and won't go to bed, so that's my fault, and she wants the night for free because the staff members were rude and wouldn't let her son pet the bears.

Working as a csr for a cable company (early 90s) you wouldn’t believe what adults don’t understand. From explaining how to press an on button to explaining time to them. Giving credit for an outage was the best. Service would be out for 30 minutes and if you break that down by 30 days then by 24 hours then to one hour then 1/2 hour the amount would many times come down to less than a penny. We would credit the account for 1¢ just to round it up. Oh the pleasure in telling them they would see a 1 ¢ credit on their next statement was so satisfying.

A tenant came in wanting to buy boxes but she tried to buy the display one (the one already put together to show people the various sizes we sell). I told her she couldn’t buy that one and would need to buy the flat boxes. She looked me and dead serious said “I don’t know how to put a box together. It’s too confusing! I just want to buy the one already taped up!”. I told her sorry but you can’t buy the display box. She huffed and said “I’m not going to buy any unless you show me step by step how to put it together 😡”. This 40 something yr old woman has apparently never taped a moving box together in her life… so I showed her how to do it but every… single… step she was confused and wanted me to explain it in even greater detail… I thought she was messing with me but no she was dead serious. I couldn’t have made it more simple for her to understand. I thought I’d have to break out the crayons next and break it down Barney style for her because it was like teaching a 5yr old kid how to do something. Finally she understood but the whole time she was paying for the boxes she kept saying how she was worried she was going to tape it wrong and kept saying things like “you better hope that you showed me how to do this correctly 😒” or “this is just ridiculous… I don’t understand why this has to be so complicated!…”etc. she was the dumbest Karen I’ve ever met 😂

My entitled person experience: about 5 years ago I was working for a cleaning company where people could book cleaning online. One time a job popped up on the website, it was a 2hr clean with no description (we got that all the time). There were a few rules about what we could do for a regular clean like no wall cleaning, no mould removal (we worked with eco friendly cleaning products that can't really remove mould) nothing that involves getting up on a ladder due to health and safety etc. Customer was always told they needed to book "deep cleaning" instead of the routine service if they wanted any of these things done, due to time constraints etc. The customer was also expected to provide parking for the cleaner this is also stipulated before they book.
Well, I called the customer, as we are expected to do, the night before the job is scheduled. She tells me she wants me to remove wall and ceiling mould. I said, there must be a mistake with the booking because we don't do that for a basic service (again, stipulated on the website before they make the booking) Side note SO MANY PEOPLE would book deep cleaning under the regular service because the regular service was cheaper. Anyway, she went psycho and said something like my landlord organized it, blah blah, I said, trying to keep my cool, well, get your landlord to call me and I'll sort something out with him. Landlord was nice and agreed to change the booking to a deep clean. I told him this isn't really what we do but can make an exception in this case. No problem, or so I thought.
I arrive at the property the next day. There is no parking apart from paid parking out on the street. I texted the customer to ask her where the parking was, again they have to specify with every work order where the cleaner can park. I said there's a park right outside of your house can I use that? She started saying "no I'm not going to let you park there, it's my neighbour's park"... Fair enough, so you're saying I have to pay for parking to clean your house? At $4an hour? By this point I was sick of the way she was talking to me and decided to be petty.
I just said if you can't provide parking for me then I can't clean for you. I have a shitload of stuff to haul in from the car and free parking is located serveral blocks away. Technically I could have been reimbursed for the expense but because she was such a bitch I was just like nope.
She went OFF at me and told me I had wasted her time (not that she had done the same to me but whatever), and I'm a f-word useless c-word, told me she was ringing my boss... My boss already knew, I told them to expect it 😂 they were on my side because... We dealt with entitled bitches ALL. THE. TIME.

I had another customer send me a note and tell me to send another item, on my dime of course and tell the post office not to send it through Michigan because it takes so long. I told her that if I could control what the USPS did, I wouldn't be selling on line. People are annoying at times.

I work retail so I have to explain often how our coupons work because people fail to read. My favorite is when they think they’re entitled to a coupon that doesn’t MATCH the items they have.

I remember many moons ago at Cineplex, I was ordering at the Yogen Fruz, asked for chocolate, they didn't have any so I got raspberry, but from the back I hear this woman loose her mind screaming "No chocolate! This is the fourth one I've been to!" and she proceeds to yell for a manager. Me and my best bud were terrified and practically ran to our movie.

My egg donor grounded me when I was 5 years old for helping the maid clean! My Da took care of that by giving the maid a paid week off and making the witch clean! Even gave her extra money for the week to go do fun things 😂😂😂😈😈. And I wasn’t grounded anymore. I loved Carol, she taught me how to tie my shoes and read. Yes, my parents divorced 3 yrs later, Da wised up.

I lived in Japan for 2 years and spoke the language some time even before moving there. One time I stood waiting for the green light to cross the road and behind me were 3 high school girls in their school uniforms chatting about fashion, make-up and other similar things. Suddenly I hear one of them say "Oh my god, look at the blonde one's style, it's horrible"(in Japanese of course and I knew they were talking about me because I was the only blonde around). They kept talking about my horrible style, that I was fat and my boring hair right until we had crossed the road and I felt that I had had enough (I usually hate confrontation). I suddenly stopped, turned around and looked at all 3 of them who had big eyes staring at me and said "Why thank you for your comments, I hope that looking down on other people makes you feel really good about yourselves and your otherwise shitty life. Bye". Their reaction was priceless! Their mouth hanged open with a face that said "YOU SPEAK JAPANESE????", I just smiled passively aggressive, turned around and walked away. The comments hurt but the feeling of pride for saying something back and showing how shitty their personalities were was awesome!

“Ma’am how many days do you think there are in a week?” 😂 as someone currently working customer service, can confirm that people are this dumb. I had to explain to a CEO that if you want to pay someone as an employee that he would have to hire the person, but he insisted that’s “not how my business works!”… I guess he ran a restaurant full of contractors 🤷‍♀️ 😂

I worked in retail as a young person, one employer was a national bookstore chain. I applied for the discount lol. Learned very quickly that full price was worth it...many stories but the most absurd Karen I ever encountered was a woman who came in demanding help finding "a red book she saw on TV". Do you remember the title? The author? The show that featured the book? No? Do you know anything about this book, other than its cover color? No? Well unfortunately we do not have a red book section so... She asked for the manager who had me walk every single aisle and scan every single shelf for red books, while the customer sipped on her latte. Guess who got to put all of them back end of shift. We didn't have the "right" red book, in the end. 🤷

I worked at about shop that was trying to compete with Krispy Kreme. We were giving out sample boxes to local businesses. An office called right before my shift ended and ordered a free box so I dropped it of at BMW dealership on my way home. The next day the next day the office called and said they never got the sample. I said the guys on the showroom floor immediately opened the box and passed it around. She said the box was for office staff and I should be fired!! Guess what? I was fired over a free frickin' donut sample.

When I was in high school, my friend and I wanna summer we go to Subway. Almost once a week together. The lady that worked there were Filipino. They were always talking in their native tongue to each other about me and my friend. I went in there with my brother. Take note I am very Caucasian. My friend was too and my brother. so my brother and I go in there one day and they start talking crap about me and him and he turns to them and speaks to them completely clearly and their native tongue and they were shocked and then he told me when he got back in the car where his Filipino wife was sitting that the said me and my friend were ugly, and my friend was extremely fat, and that we are both stupid little bee. Thinking that we could get skinny off of eating Subway we weren’t we just enjoyed the food. the look on those ladies faces though was priceless with the 6 foot three Caucasian man calling them out. I wish I had taken a picture.

I've definitely seen alot of unreasonable attitude come from so many people all the times i worked in food over the years but like you said, alot of times for older people, most of them had a legit reason to be. Not always but alot. But with this older guy, the employee was on the phone talking to her bf or someone for about 10 minutes and just kept putting her finger up and telling him to wait and what not. Also the people nearby that knew what was happening actually cheered him on afterwards. The original video was cropped down by someone else though and it makes the older man look like the bad one here.

I worked at a hospital years ago in customer service. One of the funniest calls I ever got was from a man regarding his wife's surgery bill. I was explaining all the charges and he wanted to know about his discount. I explained if he paid balance on first bill he received a 10% but the bill was over 120 days. He said no I mean for the return. What return???? The bladder sling they replaced, I had to explain there aren't returns for those smh🤣

And Charlotte's analysis of the very last one...spot. on.

My Dear Charlotte, when you said she should have responded in her language, it reminded me of what my mom told me. She was born and raised in Munich, Germany and her mother in a small town with a very different dialect. My mom went to see the pope in Rome . She said two German women were talking about her behind her back in a very nasty and negative way. My mom turned around and responded to them in their dialect which was the same as her mom's. Basically that they had the nerve to try to see the pope as their behavior was very unchristian. She said they were so shocked by what she said to them that they left Vatican City and didn't realize she responded in their dialect. 😂
