I actually met a French Karen and her husband. I own a rental cottage and they checked in last summer. We had a very chilly summer with lots of rain and it was hard to get the pool above 25 C. The day after they checked in, they yelled at husband and had a laundry list of complaints. Karen said they should have gotten a hotel instead of our place. I went and spoke to them, listening to their complaints. I told them I was sorry they were so unhappy. I told them I would offer them a 5 night refund if they would leave in the next 2 hours. The refused. I offered again, saying how much they hated the place and should have a nice holiday. They stayed…and only had nice things to say for the rest of the week. We think they we looking for refunds!

@@AllyBubblesSpriggs Not as common in Europe though. In most countries here Karen behaviour is not acceptable. I have never encountered a Karen in the Netherlands.
@@Freya778 In Italy, the relationship vendor-customer is more balanced. Maybe because the vast majority of shops/bars/etc. are managed by owners themselves, so any would-be Karen should deal directly with the boss/owner and not with an employee afraid to be fired.
Obviously, this doesn't mean Karens do not exist here, 'cause, as we say, "the idiots' mother is always pregnant".

I am from Brooklyn, now Long Island (where the accent is actually WORSE BC Brooklyn does have ppl from other areas living there, esp since Manhattan costs so much, and/or you work in Manhattan ,which is a mecca for rich ppl from all over now). These Karen’s that get slapped or beat down are surprised because they aren’t expecting people to retaliate. When it happens they know they lost their dominance. Hope none of these people, male or female, ever get in my face, my families or touch my property. I will not be very calm about it and I will not argue.
I work as a third-party "associate" at Walmart stores and sometimes I bring my bag of tools inside if I need to complete certain tasks, so in addition to presenting proofs of purchase, I am expected to also open my bag and show the person at the door that I am not potentially stowing away something that I may not have purchased. No, I do not enjoy the five seconds it takes to be honest with them, but is there any real excuse to _not_ go through with that?

Reserving parking spots by one person standing there and waiting for the car to get there is pretty normal in my country at busy places and everyone is OK with that. It is not an insult or a Karen thing, simply an efficient use of car passengers. :-)

if you are an agent or run an agency and it's just you - then you don't get a holiday when you have many clients that could need you at anytime... he should have other employees that can cover whilst he is away - just like every other company. Most people don't blow your phone up unless calls are not getting answered... if the dude is calling a disconnected number, then obviously he's not been updated on this (this sounds like BS from the agent dude though because why would he call another number - and if it's disconnected it tells you) -- as for signal...unless you're in the middle of nowhere or in a 3rd world country, then you should have signal OR properly inform your clients when you wont be available (again, just like a professional company does).
The client was maybe slightly over the top BUT the agent dude was the a-hole... entitled to a holiday, but needs to arrange cover when running a business like that.
As for the powerline issue - if it's freezing cold and they have no power...for 9 hours... i'd be pi$$ed... energy companies should be fully prepared for events like this to happen and have a quick solution to getting it fixed - even if that's providing a generator.
If it was something major and several poles had fallen or it was a serious storm - fine... but nah...9 hours on a cold day with no electric because of one pole -- energy company is having a laugh... you pay them enough

Would be interesting to ask the karen that where she thinks HER ancestors came from... I mean she didn't LOOK like a native American, but more like a descendant of the colonizers. I could be wrong of course, but somehow I doubt that.

Years ago I worked in a restaurant. People would eat half their meal then suddenly complain it was terrible and they wanted it taken off their bill. As I clenched my jaw and apologized, they'd say, "Can you put it in a doggy bag." I started replying, "Absolutely not, I wouldn't want to make your dog sick." Then I grab their plate, smile, and walk away. I loved screwing with these scammer.
Being Australian, when i hear someone saying “go back to where you came from” based on their ancestors background, i simply inform them that in that case they should go back to the prisons in Great Britain.
This is why I like to study history, to make entitled people look stupid because of thier ancestors. :]

As a European I have always wondered where this stance of phenotypical caucasian Americans comes from? Like e. g. very prominent the Trump family originated in Germany and has only migrated to the US in 1885. That is really not long ago. A population that has "acquired" (in sometimes very shady and offensive ways) land now goes around denying rights to others? How nasty.
Though we do experience some interesting tendencies by people that migrated here in the 50s, 60s from Middle Eastern countries and in the 80s and 90s from Eastern Europe. They are the strongest voice in complaining about new migration and especially the Eastern Europe descendants support the nationalism movement.
Maybe it is some weird psychological thing.

I agree! Want to hear a funny story about this subject? What culture horror had an awesome presenter named Ash. She left What culture in summerish 2020. They were still putting put prefilmed videos at least once a week if not more of hers and still might be as far as I know. She prefilmed a LOT or is secretly still working for them

Anyone with the balls to slap a Karen across the face deserves all of everyone's respect. They earned it.
Karen touched the other lady and so she got what she deserved. I just wished it was a punch not a slap. Nothing that Karen could do about it either as she made the first move. People have a right to defend themselves especially against an aggressive person.

Yeah, that caught me off guard too. I've bought several new fridges in my 6+ decades...not a ONE has been pre-cooled. Don't think they make extension cords that long...🤭
So, to save the 1/2 hour of 1st cooling, she had to wait probably hours or even days for another fridge (pre-cooled?). Very, veeery clever move.
My best friend hired into Walt Disney Travel Company in February 2020. He was still less than a month in when the parks closed for covid and the waiting list for calls was over 240 people and several hours long, with all travel reps working insane hours to get through all the calls. I felt so bad for them.
The original saying was, “The customer is always right in matters of style”. As in, if your customer wants to buy something very unflattering or ill-fitting , you smile and take their money. Nothing to do with excusing obnoxious or nasty behaviour!

or if they order no mayo they mean it. I have to deal with that one all the time.
It’s like the saying “jack of all trades but master of none, but still better than master of one” where the end to that was also forgotten/ left out. Those last parts make a huge difference in the overall meaning and yet they’re left out all the time

As an European I do not understand how in a country made by inmigrants people keep telling others to go to their countries.
They think that because they killed the people who lived here first (for like over 9000 years), enslaved them, forced them on to crappy land called reservations, stole their children, forced their children to convert/reform schools, that its now their country that they can tell anyone who is not white or has an accent to go back to their country. Kind of like English to India Indians, Hungarian kicking and stopping the Syrian refugees, like when Poland refused aid to refugees at their boarder. White people, am I right?

So, I’ve held parking spaces for elderly family members that were right behind me. Is that really a Karen move? Helping elderly or disabled folk park in a parking lot that doesn’t really have a place for handicapped parking?
Whenever there is a compilation of “Karen” clips, there’s always one where I feel like we need more of the story. I don’t think it’s fair to label a person who is possibly holding a parking space for their grandmother with the same paintbrush used for the horrible the woman who is screaming “go back to your country.”
Yes you have a good reason but some of the Karens are the old people who are holding the parking spots for their kids because they felt entitled to it although someone else was already close to the spot, or this one Karen got booted because she stood in the parking spot waiting for her boyfriend to park. I do agree we shouldn't judge everyone because there are some people about that and I agree this does not make you a Karen, but some people were just entitled and I understand why you want the full story. You are one of the people that bring back my faith in humanity.

@@goodbher9244 Take longer than 5 min to cool a 'fridge for the first time. Also, its a lose/lose situation. You take it out of the packaging to pre-cool it and its no longer "new", so she'll demand a discount. Deliver it not pre-cooled and she'll get mad about that.
You aren’t even supposed to switch them on for a period of time post installation to allow coolant to settle…
And it takes like two hours to cool, what is she going to do, sit and stare at it while the temperature drops?

The person skipping the "receipt checker" at Walmart is actually correct. They typically don't have a legal right to stop you, even in cases where they do suspect you stole something.

the store can legally put someone there to check your unbagged items to stop theives which is why the now also have the small cop shops on sight in many locations and expanding that to nationwide most likely. They check you wether you use the self check out or a cashier, they are told to check high priced items and unbagged items.
If you dont pay for something you are stealing because its still owned by that company not you.
they are paying those people to check your items, if you forget to pay for something or want to steal something its the consequence of your own actions if your caught.
@@ladydubhblossom employees of the store have no right to detain you unless they have proof that you stole something; you're free to ignore them and leave. If a store employee puts hands on someone to stop them leaving and it ends up that person didn't steal anything the company and that employee are likely in deep shit. This is why the majority of retail jobs with big companies tell you never to stop someone suspected of stealing but just report it to a manager so they can watch for repeat activity; eventually if enough is stolen the cops get involved. Some companies like Walmart in places with high rates of shoplifting hire cops directly so they're able to potentially detain you, but they'd have to have reasonable suspicion to do so. Places like Sam's Club and Costco are allowed to check receipts as they're a store with a membership with rules and they could revoke your membership for not complying.

@@daviddieudonne7829 It makes perfect sense they can enforce it in membership stores like Costco, but otherwise most states here do not allow a store employee to detain you (unlawful imprisonment) without proof.
Maybe it is a unique attitude for America but it's good to know your rights as a citizen, especially when there have been cases of people falsely being charged related to this kind of stop and search by employees. A woman recently settled with Walmart for a large sum because she was falsely accused of shoplifting in one of these instances. I've never been a Karen about it, I just wear headphones and walk past them with my stuff and ignore them. They aren't allowed to touch me to stop me or get my attention, so problem solved.

10:50 - I actually have some sympathy for this one. Either have cashiers or do self check-out and accept the occasional losses. Firing the cashiers to "save money" and then treat your customers like thieves is very poor form.
im highly surprised that people are upset about this when they have the same exact set up at warehouse locations like sam's and costcos.
it doesnt matter if you use a cashier or self check out they check all unbagged and high priced items. If you dont pay your stealing. they've suffered probably millions of dollars yearly nationwide due to theft and if they want to stop that from happening they can put a checker if they want, they are a private company and many locations now work with local police and have a small in location shop set up for theives and assualt issue.
i never get checked when i do normal grocery shopping when i need to go to walmart, the only time i was happened when i bought a large bag of mulch.
Then go shop somewhere else… it’s just that simple.
You don’t like it, nobody forces you to go there. But if you do, you follow their way of doing business.

Having been in various customer service roles in various industries, I can assure that they customer is more frequently wrong. Besides, this “quote” is just a partial quote. The whole thing is that “the customer is always right in matters of style” and is intended to express that if the customer wants to looks hideous, do not try to talk them out of it. “Sorry for mansplaining. My Policy is "The customer is never right!" Let's start with that assumption.
And yes, some people consider making frivolous complaints is an acceptable negotiating tactic and this behavior is used almost universally in certain groups which make them almost completely intolerable to deal with in the hospitality industry when they collect together for a convention in a hotel or converge together on a restaurant after Sunday services.
I've always thought if I encountered the woman who slapped the Karen, I would give her whatever money I had on me for doing God's work.

She was approached by a woman on a train, who heard my friend speaking American English. The woman screamed at her, in Swedish, "You need to learn our language! Go back to where you came from". I'm not making excuses for that type of behavior, just pointing out that it's not not a behavior that's exclusively American.

So, I don't think people know EXACTLY how much of a Karen the Disney one was, so allow me to shed some light on the subject. 🤭
According to her, the vacation she originally planned was 10 days, with access to all of the parks, and at the Grand Floridian when it was cancelled due to COVID. She wants to exchange this for a new vacation in Cinderella's castle.
So, first of all, 10 days is EXTREMELY long. It, of course, is still my goal when I plan for Disney (since so much of the new park areas are right up my alley, as well as the water parks,) but even in 2019, the yearly price hike (since Disney ALWAYS hikes their price every year, without fail,) made it so a base 10-day ticket fell around $600 and $800, and that's with no accommodations.
Then she mentioned all the parks. If she bought a 10-day monster ticket for 5 people (two adults and 3 kids,) I doubt she'd only buy individual passes between parks, so it's fair to say we can add Park Hopper, and not only Park Hopper, but the Plus version since she mentioned the water parks (the water parks are only available in Plus) That adds another $500 to $600, roughly.
Now the big guns. She mentioned Grand Floridian. If you ever wanted to sound like a pompatic cunt to anyone who touched planning material for Disney, feel free to place "Grand Floridian" and "Cinderella Suite" next to each other in the same post. And it just so happens that I am not just any ordinary researcher, but an autistic one who has Disney Vacation planning as a fixation and special interest.
The Grand Floridian is one of, if not the most expensive hotels on Disney property. The most basic room rate for a SINGLE day in 2020, where she would have scheduled, landed somewhere between $1250 and $1500. Of course, Disney "cuts" a bit of the price off as you buy more days at once, but if she bought anything higher than this basic room, the $10k sitting here would quickly multiply.
Then there's the restaurant. I could give this woman an audacity prize just for this restaurant. If you aren't aware, the Grand Floridian also hosts a restaurant called Victoria & Albert's, and it's the only "easily accessible" (since it'll cost you your first born to get in) black-tie restaurant on Disney World property, since many of the others are devoted to events, such as those million-dollar weddings. While I can't be sure if she was planning to go, since she never said so, the fact she has already put down what could amount to 12K or more suggests that she has a fatal case of the audacity.
Now, place this 12K next to her Cinderella suite request. This suite that she is asking for isn't just secretive; it's secretive for a reason. This suite is only given for charity events or other "positive" things. Many of the few visitors who have gotten in there were Make-a-Wish kids. This suite isn't even really filmed because unless you are actually STAYING in the suite, people are only allowed in the suite for 10 minutes at most before being escorted out.
This pompous fruitcake just asked, after this worker looked at her vacation and offered her a 12K REFUND, for a compensation of being allowed in the goddamn charity suite.

I have to say, I am, too. I hate those self-checkout lanes. Not b/c I have to do it, but because it seems like every other item seems to either not "weigh" correctly or doesn't scan properly, so a Wal-Mart employee has to come over and clear the machine anyway and they are busy helping other people having the same problem I am. I feel like it takes 5 times as long anyway. Just open up a darn lane. You've paid this one employee twice what you would have paid 2 separate people to open up two lanes. Now, you want to pay another person to chase me out of the store because I am now ready to leave the store at the same time as 20 other people, well they better have their Nikes on b/c I'm ticked it took me 30 minutes to ring up 5 items - and I gotta go!! LOL!!
I kind of agree with the Walmart lady. Constantly watching over people in an accusatory way is crappy customer service. Just pay actual humans to cashier and accept that their salaries are the price you pay for theft reduction.

Is this an American thing? I live in Canada and have never been stopped to check my receipt after using the self-checkout. This happens at Costco, but never Walmart. I'm just confused if it's something done in the US, and not other countries.
@@lokicooper4690 it's been happening more and more, I live in Canada, since covid started, different places do different things depending on the rate of shoplifting. I know a Canadian Tire the checks receipts, they don't allow bags, you can check a large purses or backpacks at the cash register, have been counting people before covid and have set up cameras because they've had such a difficult time with shoplifting.

I actually agree with the “self-checkout Karen”. The company either trusts the customer to do self checkout or it can return the cashiers. Either way works for me. Eliminating entry level jobs just so they can save money is bad enough but then they make you do your own checkout but don’t trust you to do it.
Yeah, I was conflicted about that one. Like, she was kinda rude, but if you’re having an employee check every receipt…it does kinda defeat the purpose of a self checkout. I’m guessing that store must’ve been having some issues with people stealing stuff, but that’s not a great long-term solution.

I agree. The Walmarts in the south have a greeter at the door who helps direct people, gets carts ready, and keeps a lookout for shoplifters and things. Up north they have someone who is intrusive and checking everyone’s receipts like they stole something. If all the cameras and the self checkout weighing in the baggage area and computer loudly saying you put something there or didn’t put something there isn’t enough then they need a better solution, like real cashiers and not 1 person assigned to more and more self checkout stations. People don’t want to be treated like criminals while supporting their company.
They even check your receipts..where I live..if you go to an actual cashier..again I walk right by. It’s not Costco 🤷♀️
Same. I have waited 20 minutes to check out and gotten all my things scanned, only to find out that I couldn’t pay with cash at that kiosk. That was in October and I haven’t been back to a Walmart since.

The Walmart one, I actually agree with. It pisses me off to only see self checkouts at stores and I have more items than space provided. I can understand having my receipt check when I have a bigger item like a TV or something that requires an employee to remove a sensor, but I don’t need every bag checked every time.

When I did customer service for a credit card company, we'd always be slammed right at the cut off time for telephone bill payments...and the people who were late due to waiting on hold for a rep always had the same argument "I called at the cutoff time; its not my fault I had to wait on hold". What made it worse was the policy had just changed; previously, it was rep discretion when fees could be waived (and a lot of folk would waive fees when asked because they didn't want to deal with tantrums), but it shifted to one waiver per person per year, no exceptions (enforced by the system; it was literally impossible for a rep to waive any more fees once the one per year had been done). So many previously nice people went full "karen" mode on us over that and flags about abusive callers became quite common.

We lost power for 4 days. I live where this happens in high winds with blizzard conditions. How did I deal? I fired up my wood stove and cooked on top in my dutch oven. Fired up the oil lamps and listened to my husband whine that his phone was dead, whatever will he do, while I snuggled in front of the fire with a book, you know a real book. I just smiled and said, my library is down the hall, grab a book!

Disney customer service did a great job during the beginning of the pandemic. Everybody got their reservations canceled. I was supposed to run a marathon at Disney. I got my money back without a problem. Disney had to have lost a fortune just refunding everybody's money and the people who cancelled their Passholder accounts. Does she really think that everyone who had their trips cancelled should get this treatment or just her? And as for staying in Cinderella's castle, that is a boatload of money for just one night. She is outside of her mind and I am sure the employees at the Grand Floridian dodged a bullet in having her and her family not being allowed to come to Florida.
Generally speaking, entitlement thinks only of self and not of others. More than likely, her line of thought was "you inconvenienced me, so now I have a right to more than I initially invested in this because of the inconvenience". Of course, its also possible that she's not normally a broom jockey and it was just pandemic stress... Job insecurity, loss of wages, and even less support than normal for parents (having the kids constantly around and having home schooling thrown on top of the other stressors), that's been enough to make a lot of otherwise nice people snap. Still doesn't give her the right to go off on someone like that, nor does it excuse bad behavior, just makes it a little easier to understand.
I had an annual pass for Disneyland/CA Adventure when the pandemic hit. They automatically cancelled everyone's passes and gave prorated refunds, which were fair. I have actually been back to the park since they've reopened, and when I had a scheduling issue they bent over backwards to accommodate me, so whatever else their faults, Disney resorts have pretty great customer service. If this Karen had been remotely reasonable or polite, she probably could have talked them into a meet and greet with a princess or something.

My sister was planning to take her whole family and they were cancelled. They just explained to the kids it was because of the sickness and they would have to wait a year. She also told them they would have another year to grow and would be able get on more rides. In the meantime her son started dating someone and when they did go proposed to her during New Years fireworks.

I went through a more minor far less physical incident and I was honestly just confused while it was happening. I'm mixed but a good bulk is Native American and my partner is half Mexican half white and while I was picking him up from work a young man, who was apparently known to his work to do this often and had had the cops called on him multiple times for it, threatened us and told us we needed to "go back to our own countries" my partner thought it was absolutely ridiculous since, given that the police reports all listed the boy's nationality as African and Dutch, they are more immigrated nationality than I am. But I've never understood that anyway because you don't know where someone was born or where they are from in heritage. From there I'm confused about the fact that people let skin tone dictate where they think/assume someone could be from, that is not a good guaranteed way to devise nationality, heritage, or citizenship to a country....... Native American people have a huge range of skin tones and even if they didn't that feels like such a weird thing to get so hung up on that you're willing to risk being knocked out or having charges pressed against you.......

So...I once stayed at a hotel in Greece and they had a different breakfast everyday. I actually loved it because it was all freshly made and delicious and very well balanced too. I haven't seen a single person complain about that and they had many reviews.

The one where the lady was mad about her Disney trip being canceled MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL! In 2020 my family and I had a trip to Disney World planned as well. It got canceled due to Covid also. Here I am two years later and we still haven’t had the chance to go to Disney World. My family and I were super upset because we were looking forward to the trip for years. But this lady wanted a full refund, to go back, and TO STAY IN CINDERELLAS CASTLE?! That suite would normally be THOUSANDS of dollars a night and she wanted to stay there just because she thought she deserved it because her trip was canceled? C’mon lady. You don’t see the thousands of other people who’s trips got canceled complaining like that and expecting that big of a compensation. Get over it.

As someone who works for a company that actually makes refrigerators - I can tell you I do get that question a few times. Or the one about why my refrigerator is beeping. I agree a bit with the Wal-Mart one because they are not allowed to stop you as you do not pay for a membership to shop there. So essentially when they are asking for your receipt they are accusing everyone of stealing before you even leave store.
Unfortunately, it's just part of their job. They aren't actively accusing you, they are just doing what they've been trained to do. The receipt checkers at my local Walmart are pretty lax, so they don't do much unless they actually have reason to believe people are stealing. However, they are supposed to make an effort to stop people and check receipts, as per their training. You're right that they cannot stop you forcefully, but they are supposed to try. They're just doing their jobs.
@@x0uzumakinaruto0x well Wal-Mart needs to stop training them that way and the reason the ones at your store are lax is because they know they are not allowed to stop you and they can’t forcibly stop you either. They can try all they want but if they stop you and ask to see your receipt then they are essentially accusing you of stealing what else can they classify it as? Either they don’t trust the customer, their own security measures or their own cashiers the latter two being their problem not ours. It would be like going to your regular grocery store and having them stop every customer that walks out. Now one way I can see for them to get around this is to put a disclaimer at the entrance that says if you agree to shop here you agree to possibly have your receipt checked before leaving. However I have never seen an signage like that at any of their entrances, but if they were smart that’s how I can see them getting around the issue and then the customer would have to stop as they would have agreed to it when entering.

They're doing a job, and I agree they need to not train the receipt checkers this way. I won't get into the "what if" or "they should do this" too much. If you don't want to stop, don't. It's that simple, but don't bash the receipt checkers for trying to do their job as they've been instructed. Bash Walmart. They're a horrible company in general, lmao.
I will say, the Walmart I used to work at was negative 2 million dollars at one point. At another point, when I pointed out a customers moving something to a lower price tag and taking a picture, the manager wrote it off saying "customers get like that, it's no big deal." So... If you wanna blame anyone for the reason receipt checkers are a thing, blame management.

(Also I’m not trying trying to start a fight with you all is good and this is all just my opinion) but tell me why they would need to see the receipt if they (the store not the individual) are not accusing you of stealing. Even if the price tag thing happened as you mention they are still accusing you of stealing wether it be stealing product or stealing money thru the lower price if a tag was switched. They are still accusing you the customer. If they believe they have an internal problem with employees then they need to send in secret shoppers or something. Not use the customer as their own private force to check on their people.

I still think management is to blame. They get so lax with customers who are actually stealing, like the price tag thing I mentioned, that the entire experience for everyone is changed as a whole. Other things I've heard of happening that might cause Walmart to do things this way: Customers riding bikes right out of the store without paying, someone cutting security tags off TV's and walking out with them (no one stops them because the lack of security tags implied purchase), the storage tote full of red bull that someone was planning to just walk out with, but when any of these were reported to management, they shrugged it off. So I think management is the real issue, and receipts should only be asked for when it comes to big ticket purchases, like TV's or bikes, or similarly sized or priced items.

I feel the same way. I avoid self checkout and don't stop to have my receipt checked unless I've made a purchase back in electronics. I usually just smile as I walk past and say, "have a nice day". They have so many cameras, they can see who didn't pay for anything. Our Walmart has no issue having security chase people out into the parking lot they believe have stolen something, so why even bother checking the receipts? I hate the self check out so I just avoid Walmart as much as possible.
Personally I prefer the self out because I want as few people as possible touching my things - it also tends to be faster because people are in a hurry. I guess it depends which store

The problem with the Aldi's one is that if the dude is legitimately panhandling, that is a huge problem. There are tons of people pretending to be in need who bring home hundreds of dollars in charity and it makes a lot of people who actually need help less likely to receive it because of compassion fatigue. We have a ton of panhandlers in my City who will try to hustle you for .25c first because if you give a quarter you might give a dollar etc. I don't like Karen's, at all, but the panhandling thing is a serious issue and has way more impact than people realize.
Also Edit: Most stores you can tell an employee if someone is panhandling in their parking lot and they can notify police or security to remove them since it is trespassing.
I find it very uncomfortable when I go to a store and there is someone begging in the parking lot. And the mall I went to last week that had a person from some kind of beauty store hounding people who walk by. The owners need to know it chases legit customers away. I give a huge amount of money away but never to people who ask for it- those people know where all the free goodies are already.
I'm with the Walmart customer 10:40, having someone "check my work" when I'm not in grade school anymore is insulting. I've even had them want to check my receipt AFTER GOING THROUGH A REGULAR CASHIER! I was the only one checking out. Woman at the exit was watching me check out with a cashier, NOT self service and STILL wanted to check my receipt... because I walked past 8 empty self checkouts to go to the cashier... I don't get paid to check myself out and the receipt checking is annoying at the best of times, THAT's why I ignored the self checkout machines.

Few days ago I read reviews on McDonalds delivery service. The most of the bad reviews were parents saying: "food was good, my child didn't got the toy we ordered. Now I have a devastated child sitting at home. 1 star", first of all, I think these parents generally making the problem bigger than it is, but also....as a child I would've been happy to have something from McDonalds, because we couldn't afford it. And as a parent I would teach my child that no, life isn't always going the way they imagine it to go and to always be thankful.
7:20 reminds me of the time lightning struck in our home. Almost anything electronic died. The people living upstairs had it even worse. Power outlets blown out of the wall. Burn marks in the couch. Not to mention a big hole in the roof. While the handymen hired by the people we rent from were trying to fix everything and rehome the people upstairs while fixing their apartment, this lady came and was angry that her extractor hood had stopped working when lightning struck. That was it. Her stove was still working. She could still cook. But she was angry and seriously thought they should go to her apartment first and fix it before fixing the hole in the roof of our building or get started on the apartment upstairs. Yeah, she did not get her way and she left upset.
Lady, our work order says this building right here. That's what we're going to do. If you have an issue, get with management. Thanks.

I’m 100% on the side of Walmart lady. We have self-checkouts in the UK but there’s no unnecessary checking of receipts afterwards and there are still cashiers available for people who prefer them. If Walmart have tried to save money by removing cashiers and then expecting everyone to queue up to have their receipts checked, all they’ve done is put good people out of jobs and made the whole experience more inconvenient for their customers. That’s a stupid policy and I wouldn’t wait to have my receipt checked either.
Walmarts usually still have cashier's available for those that don't want to self check out. The receipt check is usually just perfunctory or all but skipped, it's just to make sure folks don't shoplift since people use personal, cloth bags these days. They normally don't check item by item, just the date and size of the receipt.
At my Walmart, they check receipts at the door, so it happens whether I use self-checkout or not. It's a tad annoying but I can't blame them for trying to deter theft.

Secondly, I think you underestimate how much gets stolen, it s either this or them increasing prices to cover theft, which will benefit nobody.
And last, they go there cause it’s cheap, it’s cheap because they save as much as they can, so having machines instead of cashiers is cheaper, resulting in cheaper food. Again, would also benefit no one if the prices would go up.
I worked at a school, door hinges and toilet seats got stolen on regular base… I’ve worked in a showroom, people steal the most unbelievable things… I bet in a supermarket theft must be even crazier, especially on self check things.
And that check-person is just doing her job, she doesn’t want to be annoying, don’t take it out on him/her.

The puppacino one. Your dog has no idea the cup is smaller. Second, it is whipped cream, really not the most ideal "treat" for a dog to begin with, so your dog getting less is probably better for their health anyway. I also like the your dog doesn't give a "shit" comment by Charlotte, given how many dogs get the runs post puppacino ingestion, it is likely her dog was having some shits. While cute, those things are HORRIBLE for dogs and I wish people would stop. They offered me one once when I was in the drive thru, politely declined. Wendy's did also, I literally let him have one small lick and then ate the rest myself 🤣

Yes, just what I said. Then went looking to see if anyone else has commented. Giving a lactose intolerant animal, who is often on a well regulated diet of dog food, a cup of a very rich dairy product is a recipe for disaster.
I read a story about a Karen who got coffee and a puppaccino for a road trip that was going to be all freeway for many hours before a planned stop. She claimed Starbucks has deliberately poisoned her dog’s puppaccino with laxatives, as her dog began crying after some flatulence, then had explosive diarrhea in the passenger seat, which got everywhere. 🤣
