Casca and Guts go into the dungeon under the Tower of Rebirth to rescue Griffith, finding him mute, crippled and horribly disfigured from a year of seemingly endless torture. Meanwhile, the members of the Hawk are slaughtered at their camp by monsters led by a green fairy.

The band of the hawk wasn't destroyed in the forest. All the members that were injured stayed back with Rickert, everyone who could fight traveled to rescue Griffith.
There are a lot of differences in the manga, parts that aren't explained :
- Guts' childhood was an absolute nightmare, he's born from a hanged woman and his adpotive father Gambino abused him so much that he scarred his face permanently (the cut on his nose).
- He was also r*ped when he was 9 by a nasty mercenary named Donovan, these are his hands in the nightmare sequence Guts has in episode 2. Donovan paid Gambino merely 3 silver coins for the night.
- Guts retaliated against Donovan, murdering him during a battle, but Gambino lost his right leg, making him more awful and Guts had no choice than to kill him in self-defense when Gambino tried to murder him in his tent.
- Guts' first s*x scene with Casca was a failure, his PTSD from Donovan's r*pe kicked in and he had a breakdown, Casca sympathised with him at this moment, knowing how awful it is for a person to endure that (even at this stage of the story). This is the main reason why Guts hates being touched unless it's by her or Griffith.
- There is a very important character that's missing from the show : it's Skull Knight. Sadly, I can't explain in detail everything about him but he's primordial to the story.
- Other secondary characters that are missing are Silat and the Bakiraka, Silat fought Guts during the one year timeskip where Guts was alone.
- Griffith torturer is much more sadistic in the manga, he has a necklace of Griffth tongue and he dies more painfully, Guts impales him and cuts off his tongue.
- There is a villain who is probably the most unnecesseraly violent and controversial, so much so that he is never talked about, in this anime or even the movie trilogy : Wyald.

Also an added detail about how the manga torturer dies, that's basically just a cool Guts moment.
When Guts cuts his tongue out, he says he doesn't wanna send him to hell "two-tongued".

The scene where Griffith tries to choke Guts while Guts cries for him is one of my favorites.
Considering Griffith's mindset it was predictable that he would hate the idea of Guts saving him :(
in the manga, the king was saving Charlotte to himself, he wanted to be her first because she reminded him of the queen. When Griffith did what he did, the king went crazy.
I guess it was too much for them to put it in the anime.
I would not say the king was saving Charlotte to himself, but he had difficulty to let her go. He did not realized he saw Charlotte like his first wife until Griffith pointed it out.
@@ghyslainabel yeah you got a point, he could have acted subconsciously, but what he did to her later was fkd up 💀
@@ghyslainabel I honestly don't remember any mentions of King's first wife in manga and I'm around volume 25+. Maybe I just forgot, but from my point of view, he is just one fucked-up old man.
@@mundomundovich2265 there is no emphase on it, but the queen killed by Griffith was the second wife of the king. I do not think the first wife was shown in a flashback, and there are only a few mentions of her.
Why would you spoil this? What if they wanted to read the manga? Are you autistic why would you blatantly write something out that gives away this much information.

Griffith was tortured for sleeping with the princess. King went crazy in the manga, to a point where the King even sexually assaulted his daughter and all that chaos made the King age like 20 years in that one year, while Griffith was just locked away to be tortured forever.
I just watched all 22 episodes in a row and i can't wait to see your reactions in the next chapters!
Keeping to the no spoilers tradition, the series ends on a massive cliffhanger, so I'll drop a link in the comments on your episode 25 vid, so you can watch a somewhat official continuation with a better ending.
When I mentioned about watching the last 20 minutes of the third film, it's basically that, but the person who put the video together made it feel like an actual 26th episode and named it as such.

Berserk is heavy.
2:38 the bad feeling about Casca is deserved, but not for the reason you are thinking of.
8:52 the king wanted that cruelty because Griffith took Charlotte, and the king loved his daughter too much.
13:37 you need to know about Skull Knight to know what happened with the monsters in the forest, and with Rickert. Only the manga gives the details.
Zod is an apostle like the monsters in this episode, and like the monster in the first episode. Zod is different only in that he is searching for the strongest opponent, instead of simply indulging in mindless and cruel whims.
I feel like this is a bit too much in the spoiler territory. I purposely avoided mentioning anything about Rickert for this exact reason. 😐
@@Renikade the bit about Casca could be spoiler territory, but only because it confirms Casca does not die soon. It does not tell what will happen to her.
The rest are spoilers only if they read the manga later. I revealed nothing of what is coming in the anime.
@@ghyslainabel Not quite. I can't even elaborate on the Skull Knight and Rickert part because of how spoiler-y saying anything about that is. Denver Senpai don't know if Rickert gets saved, if he dies, or if he gets forgotten about in the anime. Obviously you and I do, but out of respect to them both, please be careful with spoilers. What you've said, full spoiler or not, sadly says too much imo.
@@Renikade I only said another character, one not in the anime, was involved. I said nothing about what he did, or what the outcome was. That does not spoil anything.
@@ghyslainabel It really does. It's incredibly easy to read between the lines of what you've said. It's great you want to talk about it, but these things should really be left until the comments of the final vid. Mentioning Rickert and Skull Knight is too much. What you think is a spoiler, others may not and vice versa. I'm not trying to argue or pick on you. All I'm saying is try to be a bit more careful. Berserk is the kind of experience you don't want ruined before the finale in order for it to have its full effect.

As other viewers have already said, things were a lot tougher in the manga, including Griffith's torture, and... Torturer himself, whose appearance has been changed a lot, and believe me, he's much more disgusting in the manga and I think every one of us would like to finish him off.
The real reason why Griffith was tortured so brutally... let's just say it was because of a father's excessive love for his daughter, if you know what I mean.
After their escape, the King went completely nuts and sent some of the nastiest bastards in the manga after them, who were murderers and rapists from all over Midland, although the creators cut them out, but for me personally, a fight with the regular soldiers of the kingdom looked less dangerous and tense.
In any case, if you want to read the manga - you will not regret the time spent, it's worth it.

@@DenverSenpai Yeah, this is how things are, but I remember similar situation in "Goblin Slayer", when they almost showed naked women in goblin cave (I can be wrong, so hope anyone will correct me, cause I really don't remember when I read manga last time).
Also, have you heard of Berserk memorial edition 2013? It's kinda more stuff directly from manga (like Guts's fear of touching and Griffith's rescue mission), another animation. Just a recommendation for you.
its sad that imo the best anime of berserk is the 90's one but they deliberately omit parts from the manga because they didnt plan on going past the golden age arc. even the duel guts has at a fair, in the anime he fights some meathead, but in the manga its an introduction to one of the cooler badass "villians" that gets fully introduced much much later in the story. And Rickert man...they just leave him to die in this episode. hes one of my favorite characters in the story. As for griffith, he is undoubtedly a villian. for all that he has done for the band of the hawk, and everything that happened to him thus far, it is of his own selfish doing. But he is one of my fav characters as well in all the anime ive ever watched. More villians need to be as nuanced as him.
They cut Griffiths tendons so he will not be able to walk again or be able to hold a sword.
They cut his tongue out so he couldnt command an army or play his political tricks in the fight for his throne.
King took extra mile in his cruelty towards Griffith :(
@@DenverSenpai The King wanted his daughter for himself i believe and because Griffith pointed this out and exposed him for it or knew his dirty little secret,he had him tortured by someone who had free reign of his torture.
Just aslong as he kept him alive.

Now that I rewatch this, it is incredible the amount of censorship and cut out characters that the anime has. It's not a bad way to experience Berserk, but it would be awesome if you guys could give the original manga a chance once you're done with this adaptation. 👍

This final episodes i highly but HIGHLY encourage in thr most authoritarian way possible :B watching this last 3 episodes in the dub version and you'll have a blast with the voice acting
