Gintama remains as my favorite anime and Gintoki(MC name) also remains as my all time favorite anime main character! This show is honestly so good even when considering how bats**t crazy the show is but it forever holds a special place in my heart. Gintama is an anime you watch when you’ve watched a lot of anime cause there are so many references in the show it’s crazy.
Gintama isn't the funniest? Every single Comedy gag or bit you see in newer anime was already done atleast 10 times in gintama. Only other anime that comes close is Grand Blue(only when they make more episodes cause the manga is hilarious)
Gintama is such a hidden gem, when I watched it, it took over my number one place in my top 5, it's like deadpool anime, an you don't even notice the seeds of the story being sprinkled in then BAM it's there an your contemplating life
In my opinion Gintama is the goat of all anime. It makes you go through all the emotion: happiness, laughter, sad, depression, anger, confusion, etc The character list is huge but all are written great. The main story is also written amazing. You do have to be a bit patient but it’s worth watching
You pretty much nailed it With the 'Gintama is the Southpark of anime' comment😂 But Gintama has a lot of lovable charters, and there is a continuous plot going on. But it does feel epesodic with how the manga is written/the format of the show for the most part.
The randomness is sooo random and yet a lot of times we dont even realize the show gave off valuable life lessons and such. The rollercoaster emotion the peak writings in term of using hyperbole, similes, quotes, irony and everything is just on point. This is the “weird” and “random” show that will drive us from laughing to crying in a split frame due to the genius tone switch that feels natural. The transition between the mood is hard to come by flawlessly. Still to this day, the only anime that I hope I can rewatch for the first time. It really give you this “adventure” vibe because you dont even know the actual “plot” the underlying hints underneath all of those randomness and what seems trivial episodes of slice of life and you cant guess what is waiting for you in the next episode. The show clearly took advantage of having the vague plot at the start of the show to build something far rewarding for the watcher experience at the end

This is probably one of my favorite animes of all time. It manages to be both ridiculous and serious at the same time. It would be really awesome if you decided to react to it because not very many people have.
First I've heard Gintama described as the South Park of Anime, but it fits so damn well. A good chunk of the comedy (not all) involves references to pop culture and other media references. Add in a dash of 4th wall breaking and some good old-fashioned shounen tropes, and you have yourself a lovely series.
Gintama is the full package when it comes to story telling, humor, action, the Gorilla (the author) is a great writer and when you pick the threads of the story, the climax hits really deep. One phrase I always remember from Gintoki goes something like: "I'm not like those other young shonen protagonists, I'm getting older, I have other priorities". oh one thing to keep in mind about the rarity of the series is that there's aliens, and with aliens comes crazy tech n stuff like that, but combined with the period of the setting, gives the series a special blend of retro-futuristic that I really enjoy.

With how many Shonen Jump mangas have either had messy climaxes and/or rushed endings for various reasons, I'm not too sure what's more impressive: that a parody mangas is one of the few long-runners to end on their own terms in the first place, or that it did so satisfactory.

I like the story of the dentist, the bath, and the story of the toilet paper in the Yagyu edition. The story that moved me is the story of a dog named Kintaro, the Yoshiwara edition, etc. The difference between gag and serious is amazing and interesting✨There are many short stories, so I think it's easy to see♪😂

Gintama has been in my top-5 anime of all time for years now and I've completed close to 600 shows and watched parts of another 300 on top of that. The dialogue is what I love. The rapid, one joke after another pace is my preferred style of humor. And, similar to One Piece it follows up the lunacy with tender, heartfelt moments. I have such a bond with all of the characters particularly Hasegawa. There's a lot of anime and video game references throughout (particularly Dragon Quest), so best brush up on your Shonen Jump titles if you want to get the jokes.

hahaha I just died laughing, I watched the entire anime 3 times and I'm still laughing but it's only for connoisseurs it's not for everyone the amount of nonsense it has, references and its drama that can start even from the most absurd thing but reaches literally atmospheric levels XD, in itself this series is for anime veterans who understand even the slightest reference XD

"What is up with the Katsura guy". After watching the whole serie, I still dont know what is up with him, but you can consider that Gintama has the weirdest characters in anime but Katsura is on another level of weird, he makes every other gintama character looks normal.
Gintama is a parody of parodies of all parodies, movies, animes, books or politicial. Some arcs are too strong! 'Scandal arc made me fell down from the sit in the public bus 1 time, bcs scene was too crazy (positively) to watch. But even with many funny and weird episodes you have some long arc where tears cannot stop running. So sad, so good, so epic.
Donald Zurump = Donald Trump = Zura Ja nai, Katsura Da Katsura has a habit of wearing "personas" cause he is a wanted terrorist for opposing the government/country for allowing Amanto (which is what they call the foreign aliens in the series). The final arc had something of a blank start after the big war, which gave him the chance to rebuild the torn country as he saw fit as Edo's (= Tokyo's) first Prime Minister Donal Zurump, after abolishing the old system where they were governed by a single Ruler (monarchy style). The deal with him is his friends call him "Zura" for short when his call name is Katsura. It also doesn't help that he has long hair and the meaning of Katsura means (hair)Wig so it's a very long-term integrated wordplay joke on his name, he grew the habit of correcting everyone when they call him by the wrong name.
You have to watch it ain't no way u won't like it there is so many things in gintama that in someway you have to appreciate it. It goes from hilarious comedy to crazy fights to precious life lessons and also the world Building is amazing you will end up being attached to the character if you wacht it honestly idk if it's a good thing but that tells a lot about how Amazing are the characters.
