Casca defeats her attackers, and she and Guts end up back at the camp. Guts and Casca share a tender moment, where Guts explains that everyone in the camp has a dream but all he has is his sword, causing Casca to think he's leaving.
Guts wants to leave not because of the attachment to the group.
He wants to leave because everyone in the band of the Hawk has a dream and he doesn't. Griffith's speach at the fountain made him really think about that. Guts thought of Griffith as a friend, but he thinks it's impossible now because he doesn't have a dream of his own, so they are not equal.
So basically, his dream is to have a dream
one of the best episodes.
Guts has a look inside himself for the first time and realizes he has no reason to be doing what he does. Thats why he says he looks for others to find meaning for him. Thats also why he says that killing a hundred men is nothing compared to what everyone else does. He doesn't see it as an accomplishment because he feels like that's what he was programmed to do.
Thats why when he hears griffith at the fountain something changes in him. He looks up to griffith so much that he wants to be an equal to griffith and be his friend. Thats why he wants to find a reason to swing his sword for himself so that he can be an equal to griffith.
Masterclass in character writing.
"In order for a man to be my friend, he must be my equal. A true friend would not cling to another man's ideals and dreams, but rather follow his own dream."
Guts doesn't even really know his own dream. Just to not die. But he wants a true friend in Griffith.
He *has* to leave, if he ever wants that friendship.
Also: "Alright, let's all have a drink!"
"Haha, yeah- wha- hey, I want a hug, too!"
Gaston is one of the raiders who talks to most with Guts. The others have not been introduced to us. That discussion shows the viewers that Guts knows the men under his command.
I love that music at the end of the episode.
About your question at the end. I love that the relation between Guts and Caska developed over time.

One of my favorite episodes. I really like how Judeau starts to shine from here on out.
This is why, we asked you to watch the English dub. Here is a snippet of my favourite quote from guts:
“So long as I have my sword to fight with, I'm sure to survive. Year after year, I've proven it to be true. Before joining the Hawks, I've always survived, no matter the odds, no matter how hopeless a losing battle. This time was no different. In truth, I don't believe that's any way to live one's life. I've been fighting in battles for as long as I can remember. The mercenary leader who raised me taught me nothing except how to wield a sword. I've never had anything, except my sword. I don't want to die; for me that is the only reason for me I keep fighting. There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to. I fight because I know nothing else. Once I was willing, to do just that, to commit myself to fighting, and let anyone else find a reason for me.”

This episode also reveals why Guts always seem to be putting himself at risk. His motto is, "The more enemies I kill, the lesser the risk of my men dying."^^
Enjoy this sweet and calm episode (except the 100man fight) as long as you can. There aren't many in Berserk xD
Yeah, season is almost over and yet feels like the rest episodes will not be able to fill us in all the details behind how it all came to what the first episode showed us :)
