Guts helps the Hawks drive off the mercenaries. Casca has a plan to rescue Griffith from the Tower of Rebirth where he is being held. Casca blames Guts for Griffith's problems, but realizes it is not his fault. They make love and Guts asks her to go away with him after the rescue.

Casca's life goal to be someone useful for Griffith so that Griffith will appreciate her. But she realized this is impossible because of Princess Charlotte and Guts. But still she didn't give up on this dream. Then, she was confused because she was falling in love with Guts too.
Casca was mad at Guts because he left Griffith. She knew this was going to happen. She even said it in the cave when she was sick. But after her anger calmed down, she finally gave up on her dream to be with Griffith. She felt like her whole life was a lie and a waste. She didn't have any reason to live now. That is why she tried to jump off the cliff.
Then after Guts saved her, she realized that she can just be with Guts instead. Her old life is not a lie and its not a waste. She is just moving on from that.
Actually it is shown that when Guts was abput to die in Boscogne's hands, Corkus really worried for him and Guts considers Corkus his friend defenetily

Corkus is your typical a$$hole friend. But he is still your friend. (Corkus' motto here is: "If anyone is going to do any harm to you, it will be me!" ^^)
And while Corkus always has an aggressive tone, note that Guts is never angry and always appreciates and thinks about what he says (e.g. in the tavern when Guts is departing). Just think about Guts' relationship to Gambino. Guts doesn't need kind words to take a liking to you. The more direct you are, the more he will appreciate what you say. Same goes for everything Casca says.
We agree here, Guts and Corkus are definitely friends, they just have their own weird ways of showing friendship

They hadn’t rescued Griffith before then because they had just received intelligence on where he had been being held.
when i watch the few reactors watch the love between caska and guts unfold, i get really defensive if they think its awkward or think its cheesy because when i saw this as a 15 year old my mind was blown. i was like a middle aged house wife completely and utterly invested in their romance lmao. it was such a beautiful moment for me. i was in my teen emo phase that just started to like girls alot so i ate that shit up lol.
Griffith is not really a hero. If you look at the broader context of his circumstances, he's actually very selfish. Winning those battles was not done out of altruism, or some loyalty to his country. Bringing peace to the kingdom was a means to an end. It was done purely in pursuit of his ambition.
Also, you say Casca is too emotional, but Griffith is worse. He's jealous, he's possessive, he's manipulative, and as soon as he lost his favorite pawn, he self-destructed by taking advantage of the princess. That was his emotional outburst. You can't blame Casca and defend Griffith at the same time.

@@TheHandofDestiny That's a very weird reading because it ignores context, which makes all the difference. It's not bad to be emotional, it's bad to be selfish.
@NeedsContent You say that like he's the only selfish one, everyone in Berserk is selfish, it's one of it's biggest themes, good intentions or not everyone is selfish, it's also not bad to be selfish, if you're not selfish then you can't take care of yourself, it's not good to be overly selfless or overly selfish

u need to exercise a little bit more empathy in regarding caskas situation man come on now haha. she felt anger and betrayal when guts left all of a sudden just when she was starting to develop feelings for him. then they spend a year scattered desperately trying to escape pursuers while planning for a rescue of their beloved griffith who they have no idea if he is actually still alive. then on top of that she is the “leader” while trying to come to the terms with her heartbreak over guts and pain she feels with griffith being held captive and tortured. the infallible leader that she looked up to all these years is now being tortured in a chamber. now in the precipice of a breakdown from the pressure of keeping the band held together while the two most powerful men are no where to be seen, 1 of those two, guts, finally shows up. she feels a mix of shock, relief, pain, etc at seeing this man that she thought had permanently left her life. she “fights” him knowing full well he is capable of defending himself, as a means to let out all this pent up stress and emotion thats been locked in her while trying to keep herself together for the band. shes angry that he left and that is how she vented it. and she was ready to kill herself and give up after. but once he saved her she came back to her senses at who this guy is to her. and the culmination of all these emotional events leads to them finally expressing their love for each other. i feel like it couldnt gave been depicted in a more organic way than this…considering the circumstances.
This definitely is the best anime adaptation of Berserk
But you should definitely check out the Manga
It’s one of the greatest ever
I still think the movies are better, despite the CGI
We will definitely check manga or at least watch some resources on the story after anime 1997

Casca cannot stop Griffith nobody could stop him from his goal and ambitions,Casca is mad at Guts for leaving them Griffith getting captured left a whole lot of responsibilities on her shoulders.
she knows Guts is not to blame,but she cannot give herself to believe this was Griffith his own fault.

bro did u see how griffith reacted when guts left? he claimed ownership of guts like he was an object. then went on to rape charlotte because he was so hurt that he could no longer possess guts. now take that and extrapolate that to the rest of the band of the hawk. they are nothing but stepping stones for him. just like charlotte was to him when he decided to force himself on her. he is a great charismatic leader but also kind of a psychopath. this whole they are nothing without him is similar language people use “you are nothing without me”…that people use to devalue someone. u at least have to be cognizant of this aspect of griffith. 😂 with that said, i really love griffith as a character. one of the best imo next to makashima in psycho pass.
Griffith is not one of the favorite characters for any of us :) but his determination towards pursuit of his dream is pretty impressive, it inspired everyone in Band of Hawk and Alex lol

Do you guys plan on watching the Berserk Outtakes once you're done with the series?
from extra content so far, we maybe will watch last 20 minutes of the last movie, which should bring us a little more details on the ending according to some comments (not sure yet), we 100% will watch that fun made first episode of the 2nd season, and Berserk Outtakes is questionable as well, as long as we watched subbed version, not sure if watching outtakes will be reasonable for us, you believe we should watch Outtakes anyway?
@DenverSenpai Even if you're watching sub, it's still worth the watch just for the laughs. Whether you watch the show sub or dub, you'll still get some entertainment out of it. Also, it is interesting just to get a glimpse of the process behind the booth. It just so happens that the VAs get a little goofy when they flub the lines or miss the timing of the lip flaps. I'm not saying it's really a must watch, but it would still be a fun compilation to see you guys react to.

@@Kattytatty02 We all knew when we watched/read for the first time but we got so immersed in the relationship dynamics between the characters that we somewhat forgot and it still managed to shock us when it actually happened. Some of you keep reminding them in the comments and not letting them forget which will diminish the impact. Basically you're breaking the immersion.
