Honestly as graphic as that Griffith scene was, I like it more than in the manga. The music is great, they did a great job... Made me very uncomfortable. In general I think Berserk can sometimes be too graphic, that being said I feel like this scene works very well, it feels very sinister. Even though Charlotte seems to like Griffith, it felt very sudden and accelerated from the flirty leaf whistling and fountain conversation from the last movie.
I can’t wait for after the 3rd movie when bro can fill them both in on manga points that either got changed or flat out removed. I really hate how much all the adaptions leave out. The problem is it’s not like other adaptations where there are minor tweaks to make it translate better, but they actually remove almost half of all plot points and an insane amount of context and character moments that decreases the story quality SIGNIFICANTLY
I mean the 1997 anime had like 90% of the arc, it mostly just cutting out stuff that wouldn’t apply much to Golden Age. The movies (or rather the Memorial Edition) in my opinion are a way to get the experience of the Golden Age without spoiling the whole arc for people who intend to read the manga.
1:10:27 LOL. Its removed content. In the 1997 anime, Casca knows that Griffith doesn't care about her. They dive deeeeeeep into it and Casca's feelings and thoughts.
Man as good as the movies are they lose an entire point just because they left out the campfire of dreams scene. Easily one of the best and most beautiful scenes in the golden age arc. That and guts and griffith’s rematch in the snow
Griffith has been winning all his life. When he loses Guts (his very important asset) he accelerates his plan to have a Kingdom by making a move on Charlotte, the princess. He's basically trying to take back control, but hes acting on impulse and being careless.
Griffith lost control of Guts when he left ,that why he went to princess to gain some control.Nobody has left Griffith before thats why hes in shock that it happened.
Griffith was a control freak and nobody dared to leave because they could not best him in a 1v1. Guts was different. It broke him when he lost to Guts because he has never lost a fight and always got his way.
I like to think that Griffith wanted the Hawk to take Doldrey alone because he didn’t want it getting out that he sold his body for that Zesty King, and got to further his clout in the process
Griffith is completely broken being abandoned by his probably most loyal man. And remember how badly Griffith wanted Guts (and it's not what you thinking! xD)
I love how they did right by Boscogne in this adaptation. He was a fucking badass in all of the previous adaptations, but *this* one made him out to be the gigantic threat to Guts and the Hawks that he really was. Nobody talks about him but he's in my top 5.
You guys freaking out over Griffith guessing the king lusting after his own daughter well… In the manga, turns out he’s right. The king outright tries to rape her since she resembles her late mother, but successfully fights him off and vows to hate her dad forever. Not in the anime for obvious reasons.
There are two new scenes for this movie in the memorial edition. You should consider watching them before reacting to the third movie. You can find the new scenes in episodes 5 and 7
Yeah the scene with Guts and Casca beside the waterfall in the newest episode of the Memorial Edition was amazing... I kind of wish Sagisu Shiro remade Guts's theme from the 97 anime just for the new Bonfire of Dreams scene
@@The_Blue_Otaku That would have been great! It's always nice to see people appreciate Sagisu Shiro. Berserk fans mostly talk about Hirasawa from my experience
“I’ve had enough, of looking up at him from inside of his dream” “Out of all the allies and adversaries I’ve encountered, you were the only one to make me forget my dream” I feel like this is really poignant
100%, It was a massive part of heraldry, they just take it to the next level in this by making the armors reflect the heraldic imagery on shields and banners.
Griffith is such a cool guy for helping Casca. *but why this version btw? The Memorial Edition is basically the same as the movies but improved. Not to mention the 1997 anime.
In my opinion, the memorial edition is worse as it jumbles shit around so much it doesn’t feel the same as the manga at all. Plus making it formatted as a episodic season has lead was to repetitive exposition which is counter to Miura’s show don’t tell style
Oh and also it doesn’t have a dub out yet and personally I think the dub is better for Berserk as the dub scripts are almost identical to the manga and the emotion in gut’s screams in dub is just straight iconic
@@cameronmar1130 I don't know about your dubs but this is the first time a Berserk adaptation has gotten a Brazilian dub so I'm hopeful that this memorial edition will bring further good things for Berserk fans down here, maybe even a dub for the older anime.
Guys what are you doing? The Berserk Memorial edition of this is airing now on crunchyroll. It's got more content, more character developement, and better CG than these movies.
If only the animation for the other seasons especially with that tower and when he turned into that armor was the same as this with good sound effects. I think the number of People would watch berserk might increase.
"what`s with the SA in this show?" Every American who picks up Berserk. It's fine guys, you are not bad people for reading watching the anime/manga, There really is no need to state the obvious.(That SA and violence is bad)
32:06 Yo I never noticed them before! Maybe I didn't read the manga back then. Or haven't reached that point yet. I think the latter. That's actually so cool. Man I want a proper Berserk adaptation... More movies like this would be fine too, but a good anime adaptation would ofc be better. However it was unlikely before and even more so now that the manga is unfinished. Unless some rich person comes along with "fuck it lets animate what we got" attitude. xD
no idea why they're watching this version instead of the memorial edition. It's dumb from all perspectives - if you watched the memorial edition, its more weekly content, so more views. Plus you get more scenes and better animation.
The only adaption worth watching is the 1997 English dub of Berserk. It's probably my favorite anime of all time. This adaption here pales in comparison.
58:47 There is a reason for the se**** assault. But the movies removed so much content that you could never figure it out. In the movies, its all just edgy cringe. But to summarize, the manga and anime dive deep into how it effects the characters. Also, a major theme of Berserk is to calibrate your idea of evil. They want you to compare demonic activity to humanity. Lines like "it was not the act of a demon. It was the act of a man" was removed from the movie because its too deep for this trash movie series.
The movies on there own aren't that bad, theirs a handful of scenes that i think do the manga justice. That being said they did cut out a lot of stuff (but they are movies).
With common sense you can fill in the blanks as to why Griffith did what he did. I watched the movies before reading the manga so I can speak on experience
"trash movie series" ok edgelord. Literally best adaptation the manga has. Theyre movies they skip stuff because you cant jam the whole arc into a few hours. As someone thats read the whole manga
Long time fan here. It's a shame to say I'm pretty disappointed with this reaction. There's a clear problem with your immersion once again because of you finding very serious scenes funny. And that's fine! Everyone grasps the story in their own way and it's great that it's positive laughter and not something negative but once that affects your immersion and makes you not take the piece of art (the film in this case) seriously, then it might be a problem. You are disengaged with the scene and the movie itself because it's a cartoon and it doesn't stand up to the norm you've seen so far but I don't think that's a good enough reason to not treat it as something unique on its own. Then again, I'm not saying you are not understanding the story, I'm sure you are but this definitely is another factor when it comes to your small growth as a reaction channel.
are just putting it mildly, I have seen them react to other "serious" stuff but they were actually absorbing it. dealing with humor in uncomfortable scenes is understandable, but just laughing every 2 mins?
Their reaction makes perfect sense. These movies are terrible. Every single piece of backstory, monologue, and talking scene was removed. These movies were created for people that get bored with dialogue and just want to get to the action. So the only thing they show is Donovan **** Guts, Casca getting ******, Griffith having ***** with Charlotte for 10 minutes, its all just edgy cringe. I am laughing too watching how bad these movies are. I actually get teary eyed or pissed watching the 1997 anime. With the movies, I am face palming and laughing like these guys. Perfectly rational reaction to this edgy low iq crap. The movies are the worst adaptation of Berserk by far. It makes people think Berserk is a shallow edgy story. Look at what it did to these guys. Even the 2016 anime is better. Too bad the 2016 anime is so ugly.
@@sagnorm1863 I agree that the movies are not great, but that Griffith and Charlotte scene was adapted almost to perfection, I don't know how they could've done that better to be honest. It was very shocking and terrifying. I didn't find it funny at all.
