Incredible Curry video MJ! I appreciate the stats and content. Steph is an inconvenient truth for so many people. Watching him play has been a privilege just like Jordan and Bron.
This is a non'starter as a conversation for these three reasons...: 1.) A.I. himself said he'd pick Steph over himself and said Steph is an entirely different monster. 2.) Steph's skillset is more than shooting threes, it's three's, his movement without the ball, and his ability to get to the rim. He literally has the highest shooting percentage in the painted area among all players under 6'7 in NBA history. 3.) The narrative that Steph can't or doesn't play defense is tired at this point. Hardly any guard in the league can guard any other guard straight up. So by that theory, 80% of all guards in the league can't defend.
@owenjohnson469 he benefited from an era with a slower pace and lower scores. Also his team gets killed for not being offensively gifted but their defense went hand and hand with his scoring.

Gilbert your definition of Generational talent is your own. Steph Curry is changed the game of basket ball and youngsters will hang his pictures on their walls. Bob Cousey is a generaltional player, he introduced ball handling, and dribbling. The three point shot will be remembered by many and the way Curry did it will be remembered by many.
Steph is not a point guard. He’s an undersized shoot first shooting guard. Steph is not orchestrating the offense, getting the team into sets, and facilitating for his whole team. This is what made Draymond so important to Golden State. Draymond was a glue guy and facilitator that Steph was not.
Again, for the slow people, Steph is the best shooter ever. Although he can do some point guard ish things, his impact on his team would be minimal without his shooting. Some of your greatest point guards could control or take over a game without taking a single shot. This concept is imperceivable to people who don’t understand basketball past the most rudimentary level. Example, I watched Steph (the greatest shooter ever) score 60 points and still lose to a terrible Atlanta team. A great point guard could score considerably less figure out how to get more points out of other teammates.

We are talking about "point guards" AI nor STEPH ran teams nor had assists. Neither ever had double digit assists. How are you GOAT at PG and never averaged double digit assists. "Hang dribble crossover" =CARRY. Both were actually "2's" who handled the ball.
Steph is not a shooting guard, he's a point guard that's changed how that position is played. He's not only changed the game of basketball but he's also changed how the point guard position is played. Guys like Klay Thompson are considered shooting guards.
This is why i hate comparisons and arguments because theres never two sides, and people don't really know what they are talking about because they don't watch every game each one plays.
If you think Steph's all about 3pt shooting? Then you never really watch or know him at all. That 6'2" small, skinny dude didn't just wait by the arc all his career for someone to throw him the ball and heave it then somehow dominate the league. He has done so many things to improve his overall game, make up for his physical liabilities as a player, to become one of the most respected names not just in the NBA, but in the entire history of the sport. When NBA players, especially the vets who's been there, done that, say that he's really good, you better believe they're not playing. I'm just glad people got so see him in action in the Olympics so they can get a taste what it feels like to really root for him and know who he really has been for us fans.
People don't appreciate steph's finishing ability enough because it's overlooked by his crazy shooting. Het gets hit hard/fouled on a lot of drives as well. He purposely gained some muscle over his career to be able to finish trough that contact
Jennings has a point tho about the easy being weak when AI went to the finals. AI had a shitty team and went to the finals and people will say it’s because how good AI was. But when LeBron went to the finals it’s all because of thr Leastern conference. How come LeBron played in a weak East when making it to the Finals with a trash squad but AI was that good and that’s why he went through the eastern conference. We really trying to say AI was better at carrying a team than LeBron?
Generational talent. Imaginary scenario and my argument is that Magic or Isiah and even Stockton excelled in their era and would most likely excel even more in Steph’s era. I’m not sure Steph would excel in the 80s or 90s. Moot point because I’m not sure Steph is an actual point guard. The position means different things now than it did then. But if we call it point guard then it’s the one facilitating the offense and vocalizing the defense. Steph ain’t doing that. Shit Draymond brings up the ball just as much as Steph does.

Its levels to everything. Steph is arguably a top 10 player of all time, AI might be top 25. I love AI but im taking Steph and Kyrie over him every time.
We need to define what the point guard position is because we keep talking about players who borderline shooting guard (as the best pg ever). So what is a point guard?
He definitely still has plenty possessions where he's the PG though. He could play like a basic PG like everyone loves, but when you're that talented, it's a waste of his skill. He's more effective than any PG in history playing the way he plays. People just hold onto the old ass basketball roles. New NBA doesn't revolve around roles. GS is literally the team that broke old basketball and it's because of Steph showing people how ineffective the old school YOU NEED A PASS FIRST PG AND A BIG MAN IN THE PAINT school of thought was.
It's over, there's nothing more to argue about. The whole world is a witness, there's nothing more for Curry to prove. Everyone bears witness to the greatness and legacy of the one who revolutionized the game of basketball. No matter the criticisms and hate from many in basketball history, it can never be erased that Curry was once underestimated by all of us before he claimed the championship and the gold medal in the Olympics.

AI was great, but him and Steph is not even a discussion. The discussion should be is Steph better than LeBron. AI's crossover was illegal, they didn't make it illegal, it just was, that's why defenders were taken so off guard by it. Curry's handles are better, in his best years people would always complain about how it easy it was for him to dribble past everybody and how nobody just fouled him like back in the day. Curry is just less flashy than AI and Kyrie, but he' still the better basketball player.
We talking about a scored at the highest level without even practicing, and comparing him to somebody who's scoring at the highest level that practice all the time is crazy work

@1227weaverb That rule has been in since then. People still have check. Lmao. It still exists and hardly ever gets called. That's why harden started foul baiting all the time. If they're going to hand check, I'm going to go for a shot attempt and cause a foul. The reason it works is because hand checking never really left.
Watch Steph play, see how much he gets grabbed, pushed, and checked. Physicality definitely still exists. But now, players aren't trying to injure each other and ruin careers.
Brandon Jennings speaking facts. Bro shot 9 for 23 every game and was considered dominate.
He put an immense amount of pressure on the defense all game. For sure he wasn’t the most efficient but he did dominate games.

Steph is not a point guard. He’s an undersized shoot first shooting guard. Steph is not orchestrating the offense, getting the team into sets, and facilitating for his whole team. This is what made Draymond so important to Golden State. Draymond was a glue guy and facilitator that Steph was not.
Please stop, just say you don’t watch Steph. It’s a reason why Steph changed the game.
