Yep. There are still some situations where HP Tuners has an advantage, the logging functions on these free tools needs some refinement but for simple stuff like removing VATS and O2 sensor codes these free programs work just fine. Only works on Gen 3 LS stuff for now though.

I bought the VCX Nano and cannot figure out how to select it in PCM hammer. I think I successfully installed the VCX software (but none of the bundled instructions match the installers). The VX manager detects the VCM nano. However, when I load PCM hammer, it cannot find it.

Check your emails. I received your order late in the evening on August 8. I sent you an email asking for details about your order at about 6:30 AM on the 9th. When I didn't hear back from you, I sent out a computer later on the 9th. You were sent a tracking number which indicates that it should be showing up today (August 16th.)

Having some trouble with PCM logger. Using an obdx pro VT and a USB cable. I can connect to the tool fine. I set up a profile and saved it, set up my parameters, and hit start logging. Ran for 35 seconds or so, hit the button to stop logging and no log file is created anywhere, no matter where I set the log directory. Anyone else have this issue or am I an idiot?
Wondering if I have a two stock clone PCMs that are licensed to HPTuners, and I upgrade one to a 2 bar custom OS, if the other PCM can still be written to (does HPTuners know that the licensed PCM should now have the new OS or does it still recognize the old one as ok)?

Hi, have you come across with VXnano an error using pchammer “pcmhammer permission to upload kernel was denied” ? I can read properties but cant download the read epprom.
Guys I need some help. After unlocking and uploading kernel, pcmhammer gets stuck on 4% and says some like “could not read block 2600 to --“ and it fails
If already have an HP Tuner device can i use that to hook up to the compter to pull the bin file with pcm hammer or do i need to buy another cable like the mongoose? PCM is already unlocked with hp tuner.

@@LowbuckLS nice thanks I also tried something different that worked. I went to XDF in the menu, view edit xdf header info, then checksums tab, 1-operating system checksum hit edit selected and noticed the "plug in module field" was blank. I set it to Tunerpro default checksum plug in like the rest of the items 2-8 and it worked no errors. Just to be safe im going to do it the way you recommended let me know you thoughts.
Great video but i wasnt able to read the Pcm I got this error " unable to get operating system id. Will assume this can be unlocked with the default seed / key algorithm " how do you get past that?
@@LowbuckLS I don't think so the car was completely stock. I will try on my 02 Tahoe today and see if it works. This seed algorithm seems to be some encoding done from the factory from what I googled.
@@LowbuckLS so I tried the same thing on my 02 Yukon and it's working fine. That's a P01 computer . Maybe the Vette since it's 04 it has the P59 and they have the encryption block. Have you done any P59?
@@ralphyc81 P59 is working and supported. There is no encryption. The first one probably there was another issue with a module on the vehicle if it was on a vehicle, or a wiring problem or bad connection of you were on the bench. Often bad power supplies (low voltage, low current, or electrically noisy) can cause this too.
do you know if pcmhammer will work for a pontiac grand am 04 with a 3.4l motor. i dont know what p01 ans p59 means. i want to be able to spend no money but have a vcx nano
I’m not familiar with the Grand Am but from a quick google search the PCM looks the same as these P01/P59 units. I can’t say for sure but I’d say there is a good chance PCM Hammer will work. If you’ve already got a VCX Nano it wouldn’t cost anything to download PCM Hammer and try and connect to it. If the PCM is out of the car I’ve got a video I’ve got a video on how to build a bench harness so you can hook up to it on the work bench.

I did find this site that says it can generate a key to communicate with a GM PCM, maybe it will help? Mmmmm, yea, okay, dont pay 100 for HPTuner but do pay $500 for the mongoose cable. Well, at least there is a video to see how to hook up directly to a computer............I guess. I woulda gone for a USB bluetooth dongle for $10, but thats just me.
Like I said in the video, if my laptop had Bluetooth the dongle would be a good option. Since I already had a Mongoose cable that was the best option for me. Not the best option for everybody.

@@mistersniffer6838 No $10 interface works. Cheapest and best option is obdxpro, next cheapest is something from scantool (but they're very slow). clone mdi etc work as well for still less than the mongoose. A lot of people use VCX Nano. Not all J2534 tools do work and some sellers have fake junk, so you need to be careful.
When was this video made? No wonder you laptop doesn't have Bluetooth. It looks like a 2011 to maybe 14(tops) model. Lol... It's a 10year old laptop... I remember back in the day when stuff needed serial or parallel ports, so people used old stuff for that. But you don't have Bluetooth. Every new laptop, even the cheap ones, from the past 5 years have BT4., Or more. Lol.. Just no excuses....

Even the cheapest ones on the market today, for around $300 have bluetooth. The laptop you're running is a Decade old. In tech-car terms, that's like saying "my 1984 chevette doesn't have enough horsepower to run 10's, the power heated seats are missing, and it's doesn't have bluetooth." lol... Its not saying theres anything "wrong" with having a 10yo laptop, or a chevette, but when they didn't come with the features you want, you either have to upgrade, (which in both cases is a waste of money) or replace it with something that has the features you want. Microcenter has BRAND NEW HP's with Windows11 for $299 with Ryzen 3 3250u. It's not a 6second drag car, but compared to the Chevette you're currently using, It's like a 2008 Scion TC. Still not a big engine, but with all the newer tech, It's going to preform better than a Corvette from the Early 90's... lol

amazon has an Elm OBD2 connector for $22 and Tuner Pro RT even comes with Elm support built in.
ELM is not capable and not supported. It'll allow vin change, and gather some info about the pcm, but thats it. It cant read or write a tune.

Where to get the cable. Google search for that cable shows it's nearly $500.

Is it possible that your PCM has a tune that someone locked with a password with HP Tuners? I’ve never seen that error before.

The scantool bluetooth ones come show up with 2 com ports. Only one of them works. Which one is correct changes randomly. They're a sucky interface.
