Great video. Thank you so much. I have a program with changing my VIN. I did everything step by step, but for some reason the old VIN was still there. It would say “VIN has been successfully changed, but when I have the program to re-read the PCM the old VIN is still there. Can you please help me. Thank you so much. Your friend Eric from Southern Cali.
Thank you. Yes he is an amazing guy. He didn't even tell me he was going to do that video it was a surprise.(it was also on my birthday and he didn't even know! Lol)
So to enable electric fans, i added in blue 42 and red 33 wires to trigger relays and then in tunerpro i changed TURN ON TEMPS to 99/103C and TURN OFF temps to 88. Is that suffcient to get them running properly? cuz there was alot of options to change.
So just changing the VIN doesn't change anything else in the PCM, correct? I have an 05 silverado that had a bad pcm, I replaced it with one from a junkyard however the one from the junkyard came off of a 2004 and doesn't have electric fans programmed into it. If I were to put in the 2005 VIN would I still need to program in the electric fans?
@@FixedUntilBroken thank you! Do you have a way to get in touch? I’ve got a AM29F800BB flash in a GM ECM that was bricked while programming, I’ve ordered a few tools that should be able to program that flash memory but I need to get a copy of a known good file, Do you know if PCM hammer does a full read of the flash.
Every time I go to read properties it says Vin query failed: Timeout it happens and 2 different obd2 plugs 2 different computers and 2 different pcms I’m not sure how to fix it
Haha yes but it's not nearly as user-friendly as hp tuners or efi live. I say that with no first hand knowledge on the tools mentioned but lots of people tell me that. I just use this method for vats/vin's mostly
It's absurdly easy to make the harness and every mechanic should be able to do work that basic. You can buy them but the easy way is buy a spare PCM from a self-service salvage and cut off the connectors with several inches of wire. It's a good project for those normally afraid of wiring since it's so simple.
Stupid question new to this. Should I already have a new VIN written down in order to change it on pcm hammer? Where would I get a VIN that’s accepted?
Hi do you know if this works with the new version software on the obdlink lx version 5.6.19? I'm not able to use it with ls droid anymore. If pcmhammer will work with it ill go to it. Need to re flash a computer i have. Or if you might know how i can go to a older version of software? Thanks
I'm not a tuner so I don't use HP turners. I just fix broken stuff and sometimes I need to change vins on these. If your trying to use ls droid buy the dongle they make. Ls droid is dropping support for these. If you are going to use pcm hammer either one works just fine.
So I totally screwed up with the current draw of the PCM I forgot I had 2 of them plugged into the Power supply. ( my Bench tester is also a PCM). So it really pulls closter to .300 amps when running and 0 once it shut all the way down. Hope its helpful!
Looks interesting, does this work on V6's or just LS. I'm trying to fix a vin issue with a 3800SC Aztek I'm building. HPTuners isn't working for me on this. Going to try soon regardless.
I just bought HPtuners also but no credits yet, I guess we can just use the HPtuners device instead of obdlink to do the same thing. I'm probably still going to get obdlink just to have in case of compatibility issues, gonna build an whole bench station I have a few spare laptops that I'll wipe and install fresh new OS and apps just for tuning.
I have not started using this yet but question, when you are in PCM Hammer and then move to TunerPro are they connected at the same time? Or do you have to connect to one and share through another?
@@FixedUntilBroken are they both connected technically at the same time or do I connect separately. I haven't downloaded yet, was waiting for the Bluetooth to come.
@@FixedUntilBroken Sorry a other question as I've gotten the correct dongle. My Bafx was not working for this. I got bin file to load, but cannot find a xdf for this. I found one that is a 4.3, mine is a 6.0 does all that matter? Or is that the point of modifying?
Do you know if PCM hammer can use hptuner files? I have been thinking of getting a mail order tune, but they are for hptuners. Can I use pcmhammer to flash with that file?
Depends. If they are sending you a HP tuners tune like a save file out of hp tuners (that's what they would be sending) than no. Can you clone the bin off an already tuned pcm yes but that's unethical.
If you have PCM hammer installed just put it in and see if its a valid vin for pcm hammer. if not you can manually set it to just about anything in tunerpro if I remember correctly. Why would you 92 vin on it? its not like any of the modules on the 92 can talk to the pcm.
@@FixedUntilBroken what about with out a Bluetooth computer? My desktop that has Bluetooth crashes this program. My laptop that doesn’t have a BT enabled board runs it fine.
i couldnt get either android phone of mine to even register LSdroid so i installed PCM-Hammer and it read & saved my entire PCM first try. then i used to tunerpro to delete VATs and enable electric fans and was done tuning just like that BUT when i went to save it it in TunerPro, it gave me this error box "Error, some checksum files may need updating, please check cechsums etc " Im hesitant to write this to my PCm. So i contacted ROuku y , the creator of P01-P59 DLL checksum and he gave me a tinytuner app which supposedly fixed the checksum just like that! But im skeptical and anxious to write this to my only pcm.
Clone your pcm so you have two for the same car/truck one stock and one tuned just in case something goes wrong and you can still have a working vehicle.
I don't bother with TunerPro since it kept crashing on my (clean install for this purpose) W10 notebook. Universal Patcher edits without issues and PCM Hammer writes with no problem in my case.
@@martinez1701a Very good idea. PCMs are now quite old and computers don't last forever so the time to collect backups is now while they are cheap. I keep vehicles for decades and make sure to have many key spares because as vehicles fade away parts get expensive and hard to find.

Hey man I have a question, does the tuner pro have the capabilities of deleting vats? Or is that in the PCM hammer?
Tunerpro. Just control F to find it once you load you XDF and bin
