do these modifications at your own risk, i am not responsible for any blown engines that come as a result of poorly following these suggestions.
i have my pcm setup basic basic basic so its all rpm based, its very important to match minimum spark advance table to optimal spark table especially if boost is involved. my timing table has never changed from what i have it set to (all my table are matched). this may not be the case for you if you changed the values to fit your needs , you should always confirm your ignition timing before you fully send it . when the time arrives for me to run boost i will do slow pulls to redline on different occasions while checking my ignition timing on cylinder 1 . please confirm your own timing everytime you make any type of change to any ignition table.Keep in mind that editing other tables may have an effect on your over all ignition timing for example editing (adding) coolant temp multipliers may add more timing than what you have set in your optimal igntion timing(This is why I keep coolant temp multipliers at 0) this can be bad if your running boost because you want to retard timing under boost not add timing, so please make sure you know what your doing and keep it simple Авто/Мото
Appreciate the quick fundamentals, tutorial !!
This information is exactly what im looking for. Thank you man 💪🏻
This is a badass setup you have.
Thank you maybe next time I'll show how to make the actually wiring harness for it
This is AMAZING, thanks!
It's important to go watch part 2 as I get it to work with boost plus I go into more detail than in part 1

5:06 Spark in gear and spark in neutral are 100% necessary and need to match in the same values as all the other tables other wise it might not have an effect on ignition timing regardless if your running an electric shift trans a manual or non E trans, match all the tables to what your wanting your ignition timing to be.
ALL TABLES INCLUDING SPARK IN GEAR AND SPARK IN NEUTRAL NEED TO MATCH THE OTHER TABLES TO THE DESIRED IGNITION TIMING REGARDLESS OF WHAT TRANSMISSION YOU ARE USING
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial. Going to get a knock-off manifold and give it a try.
It works well I've ran it with boost and the ignition never gave me any issues
This is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!!!
If you want to use a pcm as a standalone for the 4L80E, the '91-'92, and maybe '93 GM diesel automatic pickups have the PCM you need. You'll need RPM signal and you'll want to change the shift points, a loose torque converter may require tuning.
Not sure why you'd want to add a separate computer when the 411 can run a carb and it runs a 4l60 4l80 natively, all you'd need to add is a tps and nothing else
I can hardly wait to start messing with mine. Looks like I have a goofy revision of a P01 that may or may not have OS compatability, and may or may not need a vastly different harness pinout. The harness is the easy part to work around though.
Change OS.
@@pmotorsports8276 Can you not read well?
I guess not. But you can change your operating system to a more supported operating system 😉👍
awesome content. thank you for sharing saved me 600 bucks. could you touch on if i wanted to use O2 sensors. thanks again
Thank you and do you mean the factory o2 sensors? Or are you talking about a wide band ?
you tell me. haha. probably the factory ones that are controlled by the pcm.
@dirt digger those won't be necessary in this conversion and it won't affect anything
That is very cold, I want to do the same but with a Ford 5.0, I want to put independent coils and remove the distributed ones and be able to control the time advance more precisely, not using the PCM of an LS but a speedoino which is more economical in my case. country to use the pcm of an ls, I have a question, of course you are not using the injectors obviously in addition to that other sensor you are using, ckp, cmp, iat, map, ect, I also appreciate in one of your videos that the time is certain degrees at certain rpm that is what the pcm does because you configured it that way, or because the pcm obtains information from the map, thanks for your response
whats wrong with a distributor? personally id keep the distributor if i had a sbc only because ive seen an 800hp 350 run with a distributor and an ignition box and it was simple in the engine bay and just clean because there wasnt a big wiring harness
NOW THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION
i am only running the cam and crank sensors and cts but thats only to work my fan and to retard timing if it starts getting too hot and nothing else no map no maf . and watch my next video i set this pcm to run off RPM only so once it reaches said rpm itll just go to that timing that i had already set in the programming and i can change it to whatever id like with out limits or restrictions and even if i ran those other sensors(which are unnecessary) the computer would try to revert to the best timing or whatever the factory was for timing , putting it on an rpm base tune only will make sure it stays to what i set it at no matter what the conditions are as long as it reads rpm it does the rest also i dont know about speeduiono and id like to be able to explore other things but my financial situation wont allow that lol ive pulled off the impossible plenty of times but lack of funding sometimes does get in the way
Thanks for uploading this. What gauges are those? I like them I think they would look good in my ls swapped ranger.
www.ebay.com/itm/261029282643?hash=item3cc68ec353:g:UwUAAOSwmJRazl9Z
here's the whole set, you can also buy them individually, i've ran them before on my past swaps and i like them because the speedo can work off of gps or the speed sensor off the trans i highly recommend them especially from the renbusan ebay store
Damn I wish i would have seen this before buying the msd 6014
I'd return it , I've had a few of those back in the day and they're just hot garbage in my opinion the stock pcm is free to use this way
@@Dannymclovin it's been a while back since I bought it. Still new. Might sell it. Where can I get the timing information from? To set it up for carb on 5.3
One more question will a tbi PCM work also for the carb swap 🧐
@FrankMartinez-xt4wt no idea man I only deal with ls and 411 pcm and watch the drive way engineer channel on pcm hammer he has the links for the downloads and os files
If i can ask, What fuel pressure regulator are you using? Thanks!!
Mallory 29387 5/16 feed 5/8 return 340lph kemso pump is all boost regulated
@@Dannymclovin Thanks!!!!
Thinking about grabbing a stand alone harness off of eBay my msd box just went out on me
Just get a stock one from the junkyard i had a cheap ebay one and those usually get there power supply from the starter lug and theyre not fused not to mention the o2 sensors arent even in the correct pins just get one from the junkyard youll be better off in the long run
No map? Run one timing curve for boost and no boost ?
I don't need a map sensor if my boost comes on at 3500 rpm then I just lower the timing from that point on. And yes so basically what I do is NA timing before boost and after boost lower timing, all on the same table
You using the cam and crank sensors?
Yea , the engine won't run without them
@@Dannymclovin I thought so… I’m going to take a Mark VI 454 (vortec) and convert it to coil near plug. And use a carb with a 4l80e. The 24x reluctor is no issue as it can be fitted in the stock timing cover. I’m hoping I can use the cam sync pickup in the stock vortec distributor for the cam. Fit a TPS to the Holley carb for the transmission.
How difficult is it to change shift points in the stock ecm? Can they be strictly RPM based for racing?
@parkdw1 there's an article on how a guy that used the stock pcm as a standalone, I can't say too much on that matter because I run a th350 , the guy is running a megasquirt it's an article in Google somewhere
edit.
you can download tuner pro for free and look at all those parameters, they dont seem difficult but again its something i wont ever get to try because ill be switching to a manual soon
Can I do this with hptuners as well?
I've never owned hptuners so I couldn't tell you
Fancy quick fuel carb 🧐
And here I thought you had forgotten about me and the 750 is going back on it soon lol
can you share the bin file
@@ugd240000 I don't have a place to upload it to
Wish I was closer
Closer for what? What are you talking about
@@Dannymclovin something the driveway engineer says
@rockobukkako813 oh lol yea I'm a big fan of his except i am pretty close to the junkyards
just add throttle sensor to run 4l60 or80 on factory pcm
Is this a question or a statement?
@@Dannymclovin statement it need signal form the throttle to up shift
p01 and 59 control the transmission when you go carb only missing part the throttle sensor then the gear can up shift
*PromoSM*
What does that mean
