Microsoft owning all these ips means all of them can be played on gamepass on PC, Xbox and cloud, far more options than most Sony games offer.

I'd say this year is a mixed bag. You got garbage like Forspoken but also this game and Dead Space remake. Then, we got Velma, which is the worst rated show on IMDB but also The Last of Us, which is critically acclaimed and faithful to the games. So yeah, mixed.
@@hazim9529 I still dont know why they call it Dead Space Remake. Its an 80$ Texture Pack with minor fan patch additions. Sure the game is really really good. But you can get the Original for a few bucks and it looks almost the same with some tweaking. Resident Evil 2 and Silent Hill a remakes. Dead Space is an "up to date" remastered.

I have no clue what you mean. The transition is pretty seamless to me. No loading between the cut, instant transition between 2D and 3D, no real lag due to the sudden change.

The fact that this game, which came from out of nowhere, can look, sound and play this incredible on what I consider to be an extremely modest gaming PC (sub $1000... two years ago) is mind-blowing. And it also comforts me knowing that there's still plenty of great ideas left to implement in gaming. I've been pleasantly surprised by the game. 2023 is off to a good start.
Because it's a labour of love. Devs clearly wanted to make this game, knew what they were making and had fun while doing so. This is not a game that went through a commitee and 20 focus group tests to be approved, nor was it designed to be a "live service". It is a fully contained product, with beginning and end, and ins meant to be enjoyed as it is, not as part of larger "service"

You should play more games. A cut to sub par simulated smoke effects transitioning to a cut scene is pretty damn common. Nothing is groundbreaking here. It looks great. But let's be real, something like say even God of War does gameplay to cutscene way more seamless than this early 2000's arcade nonsense.

Okay that's very smart. They disguise the transistion with the very common technique of a fade and jump cuts. It doesn't become jarring because they already established what we are seeing, him going through the smoke, being flung through the window. Also the fact the boss breaks the 4th wall by bending her border with her foot and affecting the drone. The power of visuals is put to good use here.

There is an even better transition later in the game I wouldn't dare spoil. But it uses an impact-frame to transition from 3D to 2D near seamlessly.
