True. Disney uses other films for insparation. Have you seen starvwars rebels it show what happened before luke arrived. It is on netflix it is a show.
Evanora's transformation reminds me of "Hansel and Gretel the Witch Hunters." Hansel says that black magic warps a witch's appearance into an ugly hag, and only the Grand Witches can change their appearance and look beautiful. Just like Evanora!
And Evanora had told Theodora, after her transformation, that she could cast a quick glamour spell and have her looking exactly as she had before, implying - at least in my opinion - that she had experience in casting such spells before. Likely on herself.
I don't think that Evanora's poisoned apple turned Theodora into something she wasn't. I think she always was wicked deep down, as Evanora told her, but Theodora was trying to repress it. The apple just made her true nature more dominant.
Nobody can convince me that this was a bad movie. Sure it started off boring but once we entered Oz it really started getting good for me. I hope we get a sequel with better writing even if the same actors don’t return.
Can we just take a moment that the Glinda who met Dorothy is the same one in this scene. The fact that that epic witch bitch had this epic past is too good!
That's because if Sam Raimi squeezed these actors to give it they're best performance he'd end up with a scandal since both of them are snowflakes. He's known to be relentless with actors.
At 3:01, Glinda kinda reminds me of Mirana from Alice in Wonderland where Mirana said to Iracebeth "I'll banishes you to the outlands, no one will ever so you kindness or ever speak a word to you."
@@PrincessButterflySadie In which version? She has no name in the book, nor any interest in banishing anybody anywhere; she's a bit of a harmless loony, altogether.
What kills the fight scene for me is that neither of them even look like they're in a fight. The two of them merely seem to e going through the motions, because neither of them are even showing an expression on their faces. Come on!!! You are shooting LIGHTNING out of your hands!!! Make a damn face or something!
TheBigT2000 Those familiar with magic lore know that it takes an incredible amount of concentration to wield it. Chaotic emotions during a magic fight like this would be disastrous for you. Losing focus would be to your detriment, and give your foe the upper hand. So while it would make for a more intense scene to have those chaotic emotions play out, lore wise, it wouldn't work. So for that reason, I like the authenticity of it.
Jake If they did what is typical of Hollywood fights - snide remarks, witty one-liners etc. - they'd both be dead before they could breath. Despite them both being immensely powerful witches, Magic is an independent and volatile force all of its own that requires a mighty will and strong mind to manipulate to your own purposes.
i dont understand why though, beause rachel weisz had really pretty good fighting scenes in the mummh returns against patricia velazquez. too weird she didnt do it right here.
Tall, beautiful, majestic, intelligent, confident, dressed in silver, and incredibly powerful? This is by far the most book accurate version of Glinda portrayed in film.
I've seen this so long ago yet I still clearly remember this brief fight scene. It's so cool, the sounds especially. It sounds powerful and violent, like the way it sometimes drowns out the background music.
This scene was so great!!! 0:45 “What’s the matter Glinda out of bubbles” 0:51 “Don’t need em bubbles are just for show” 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 2:15 “What have you done” Me: EXPOSE YOU!!!
This scene could've been much more effective if it had a longer running time and a bit more action. I guess Raimi didn't want to put too much into it as to not draw attention away from the main climax namely the fireworks scene. This scene being more of a tying of a loose end. (while other people would probably argue that it's an entirely pointless scene) I have to admit that it's still pretty awesome.
Evanora's beauty was a disguise, while Glinda's came from the inside, not just looks. Michelle Williams really showed Glinda's bold side in this film, and I loved it.
Who else wishes that the Wizard of Oz was remade like this movie? Same director same writers, same producers? It would be so cool if they did especially the magic effects
Plot twist: the gem in Glinda’s wand is an infinity stone and Evanoras necklace was the time stone thats why she looks so young but grows old without it

I just realized Glinda is a lot more powerful than Evanora, she was winning the battle quite easily 1:01 Evanora noticed that and had to cheat to get away. Even at 1:19 she was the one who caused the explosion.
First the wicked witch pulls a bitch move to blast Glinda, then she blames Glinda for her emulate getting destroyed. Then the wicked witch thinks that she can take Glinda knowing Glinda has her wand. Glinda had me thinking that she was going to blast the wicked witch when her to Glinda. But Glinda waited until she rushed her. And that was when Glinda blasted her threw the window.
Oh yes Glenda did and of course I have seen it before because I didn't like it when it comes to the ending of the movie I was scared of it did you ever seen it before

@@WolfieMcMuffin thus becoming the wicked witch of the west to conclude that part
Nobody can convince me that this was a bad movie. Sure it started off boring but once we entered Oz it really started getting good for me. I hope we get a sequel with better writing even if the same actors don’t return.
This scene reminds me of Harry vs. Voldemort, partly because of the green sparks, they look like Avada Kedavra
Lvvyłkq
i know right
Can we just take a moment that the Glinda who met Dorothy is the same one in this scene. The fact that that epic witch bitch had this epic past is too good!
I just realize they represent the electromagnetic spectrum.
Glinda (Light)
Theodora (Heat)
Evanora (Energy)
cool - then what would the witch of the north's powers be?
@@agenttheater5 the opposite of Theodora maybe ? To be cold in thematic. Or maybe dark energy/matter ?
@TastyGamingQc The witch of the north is good though, not evil
@@benrichardson3031 that’s very debatable
@@TastyGamingQc How
Wow I didn't really noticed until now, the acting here is terrible :/
+Ms5coloursinmyhair I feel Rachel gave the only good performance in the film, to be honest.
But Michelle is the best Actor in the film
Yeah I feel Rachel Weisz was the hidden gem in a film that could have been so much better if others were on par with her.
Rachel and Michelle were the best thing that happen in this movie, but sadly, the script was so bad...they couldn't save the movie.
That's because if Sam Raimi squeezed these actors to give it they're best performance he'd end up with a scandal since both of them are snowflakes. He's known to be relentless with actors.
Loved the movie from beginning to end. This scene especially,
At 3:01, Glinda kinda reminds me of Mirana from Alice in Wonderland where Mirana said to Iracebeth "I'll banishes you to the outlands, no one will ever so you kindness or ever speak a word to you."
Who the heck is Mirana?
@@MaskedMan66 The White Queen from Alice in Wonderland.
@@PrincessButterflySadie In which version? She has no name in the book, nor any interest in banishing anybody anywhere; she's a bit of a harmless loony, altogether.
The Tim Burton version.
@@PrincessButterflySadie Oh, that thing. "The Adventures of the Mad Hatter with Occasional Appearances by Alice." ;-)
Sensational cat fight and that transformation scared me the first time
Me too
I loved how Sam Raimi essentially remade this fight in Multiverse of Madness with Wanda vs Captain Marvel!
Despite them both being immensely powerful witches, Magic is an independent and volatile force all of its own that requires a mighty will and strong mind to manipulate to your own purposes.
that is exactly what i thought.
i dont understand why though, beause rachel weisz had really pretty good fighting scenes in the mummh returns against patricia velazquez. too weird she didnt do it right here.
+TheBigT2000 Becaues CGI has ruined magic in terms of movies. It doesn't have the ability to convey real power or the skill that it takes to wield it.
Tall, beautiful, majestic, intelligent, confident, dressed in silver, and incredibly powerful? This is by far the most book accurate version of Glinda portrayed in film.
"Now everyone will see as you truly are."
Kim Kardashian after she gets an x-ray
Haven’t watched this in years. Need to see it again
1:20 I always thought that was a cool shot. The colors, the vibrato Sound, their faces. Cool scene :))
That end jump scare made me nearly shit myslef

A witch that powerful doesn't need words
I've seen this so long ago yet I still clearly remember this brief fight scene. It's so cool, the sounds especially. It sounds powerful and violent, like the way it sometimes drowns out the background music.
Evanora's true face freaked me out when I first watched that film. And I was 16. Kudos to the team that did the make-up.
Hard to believe this movie is over a decade old already.
This scene was so great!!!
0:45 “What’s the matter Glinda out of bubbles”
0:51 “Don’t need em bubbles are just for show”
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
2:15 “What have you done”
Me: EXPOSE YOU!!!
2:28-2:53 *Evanora, literally cowering away, becomes the wicked witch of the east then turns around*
*"Look what you've done to M E E E E"*
One of the best witch fights ever
2:48 “🧙♀️😠look what you’ve done to me!"
How everyone will see who you truthfully are
This scene could've been much more effective if it had a longer running time and a bit more action. I guess Raimi didn't want to put too much into it as to not draw attention away from the main climax namely the fireworks scene. This scene being more of a tying of a loose end. (while other people would probably argue that it's an entirely pointless scene) I have to admit that it's still pretty awesome.
How the hell did that crown stay on let alone not even move a inch
Magic.
The way I was OBSESSED with this when I was five
this movie was so camp i love it
The lightning looks so powerful in this movie, and the Sound effect.
I love it when Good and Evil fight against each other, to see who wins or loses!
This movie always felt like a major fever dream lmao! But I still love it!
1:05 Ironic, she tried to crash Glinda with a rock, and 30 years later she got crash by the house
Who else is so obsessed with wizard of Oz?!!!😊💖

Now you will experience the Full Power of the Dark Side.
Glinda's appearance and power was so divine
Glinda and Evanora are both powerful and beautiful
Evanora's beauty was a disguise, while Glinda's came from the inside, not just looks. Michelle Williams really showed Glinda's bold side in this film, and I loved it.
Darryl Thompson Glinda is a loving, caring person. That's why she is beautiful.
Raheem Peters of course she is. That's why she's known as the Good Witch of the North
Hiền Nguyễn Thu what ever

This is pretty much Yoda vs Count Dooku...if they could fly.
What do you mean "if?"
More like Yoda vs Palpatine
@@Sassywizard the fight reminds me so much of that
Who else wishes that the Wizard of Oz was remade like this movie? Same director same writers, same producers? It would be so cool if they did especially the magic effects
Plot twist: the gem in Glinda’s wand is an infinity stone and Evanoras necklace was the time stone thats why she looks so young but grows old without it
This is so much better than wicked. I had to come here and wash my eyes out from how bad wicked was.
Lol, way to cope, with the fucking cringe acting of Mila Kunis and the lamest battle scene on the current era 😂
@@alexandersmith4731nah Oz the great & powerful was the better movie, wicked was just bad
@Alex-ot4tm it's not, not even by an inch, you'll find it very hard to find any movie critics saying the movie is just a sexist bullshit trying to make every women fell for James franco pedo smile, I get it if you're a dude tho, cause this is when everything still caters to you, including Mila Kunis crying over an ugly man
So the necklace was hiding her true form and was also given her dark powers as well. Then after she was defeated she returns back to the east.
I just realized Glinda is a lot more powerful than Evanora, she was winning the battle quite easily 1:01 Evanora noticed that and had to cheat to get away. Even at 1:19 she was the one who caused the explosion.
Glinda in this movie is SO beautiful!

Yes, good one but, this isn't Amy Adams but Michelle Williams.
"Look what you've done to meeee!"😂
One of the things I loved about this movie is that even though Oz is a fraud and pushed to the forefront in the storyline in marvelous fashion, the real battle between actual supernatural forces occurs out of public eye.
Fun fact: Wandavision referenced this battle in the final episode. It ends the same way with Wanda outsmarting Agatha.
Another fun fact:Sam raimi is directing the doctor strange sequel (2022) which has Wanda in it
@@darthslinger1129 another fun fact : the fight captain marvel vs wanda is similar to evanora vs glinda they used the same camera technique ( sam raimi really nailed it)
@@arianalikens5300 yeah! I thought the same!
In the thumbnail, Glinda looks like Princess Aurora after being pricked by the needle. You know, that scene where Malifecent is like “Well here’s your precious princess!”
I prefer the catfight between Glinda and Elphaba.
Agreed. Especially since in that, they built it up a bit to make look like they were about to start shooting spells and then, NOPE catfight.
Yeah Wicked is better than this
