it wasn't mentioned in movies but durring his school years he was The master of the duels
He’s even more poweful in the books. He alone casted the enchantments.
He killed a few Death Eaters, one of them being Dolohov, who killed Molly's brothers.

If you’ve got a humdinger like that in your pocket? Wouldn’t you?
... and yet we dont get it in HL? So sad XD We get Bombarda Maxima, wich is used to DESTROY WALLS FFS! but not a spell letting us animate unanimate objects, or in this case an entire army of guards? Thou yea i agree, Quiditch is more important now XD

@@christianresel8051 Yeah I always play summoner so I wish I can summon minions in Hogwart Legacy. It could be a spell to turn object into a monster and fight for you(which kind of monster will depend on the size of the object), It could be pet we captured and now we can release them to fight. Too bad the closest thing to a minion in HL is Imperio.
By the way, we do "get" this army in Hogwart Legacy but they are enemies protecting the trial and we have to destroy them
the fact that in the book fitwick was the only one casting the spells to put the shield over Hogwarts is amazing because it shows just how powerful he is because he's half goblin and a dueling champion apparently
Yea. Especiel when you see ONLY the most powerfull, aka the order of Phönix, pulling that spell around the perimeter. Mcgonagle isnt doing it because their more powerfull for that particular spell OR she was worn out. And all along the corridor the statues and suits of armor jumped down from their plinths, and from the echoing crashes from the floors above and below, Harry knew that their fellows throughout the castle had done the same.

The spell used to shield Hogwarts was a combination of multiple instances of Protego Maxima (the Shield Charm), Fianto Duri (the Durability Charm), and Repello Inimicum (unknown, but possibly the Repelling Charm) layered atop one another.
Protego Maxima was already a nearly impenetreble version of the Shield Charm, and when bolstered by the effects of Durability and Repelling, should have been able to withstand any magical and almost all non-magical attacks known to the Wizarding World.
In fact it seems likely that Voldemort was forced to invent an entirely new spell through sheer force of will alone, and compel the Elder Wand to cast it, which is what cracked and nearly destroyed it while casting.
And that too with a wand that didn't fully obey him
His new spell was “NNYYEEEEEEEAAAHHHHH”

She’s so awesome. The power the knowledge and the courage she has
Imagine how the teachers felt seeing their students died in front of them😢, realizing they failed to protecting them😭😭😭
Well, I don't blame them. Big part of protecting students is to teach them to defend themselves to their best ability. Given that Snape was in charge, Deatheaters must have interfeared with classes and activities, what teachers will teach and what not. And I think Defence Against Dark Arts was terminated class and all activities related to that subject forbidden. Take the year when Dolores Umbridge was in charge(Order of The Phoenix) as an example.
@@marchlander1 yeah defense against the dark arts was replaced with dark arts according to the books. They taught the students dark magic such as the unforgivable curses. Among other dark spells.
Great motivation to then fight and win the battle, I'd think but also heartbreakingly sad.
Hogwarts students fought well though, to think that all their Defense of The Dark Arts teachers somehow always ended up missing, losing memories, mental breakdown, crazy, dead, etc. Not to mention the witch Karen (Umbridge), lmao, who basically didn't teach them anything but ministry propaganda and brainwash. Beside, you can't compare Death Eaters with wizard students, even Aurors having hard times facing Death Eaters. The book describe the battle of Hogwarts way more epic. Hogwarts ghosts are so underated. (Edit: Professor McGonnagal is badass, Professor Flitwick too, but this is Voldemort)

One of the most epic scenes in television history. She deserved that moment. What a queen!
Television history? You mean movie history?
Love how the music starts when the stone soldiers leave their perches. The starting whistle for battle is when HOGWARTS begins moving to defend itself and everything it stands for.
Maggie Smith has two of my favorite lines in this movie! “As I recall, he has a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics” and “I’ve always wanted to do that spell!” Just the way she says the second line is great!

... and also "Have a biscuit, Potter"
My favourite is" something you'd like to say dear?" " Oh there are several things I would like to say"
"They are supposed to be out of bed you blithering idiot"
Music that starts when the statues begin to fall is so powerful.
it is absolutely amazing. the music in all of these movies is great, but I am generally standing up and pacing during the battle because of that music

Badassary right there.
I always thought the scene where the goblin professor walking in the middle to cast the spell was so powerful. It literally showed how despite being small he was on equal level with all other professors the robe flowing also made him look badass

I think the cgi was pretty good in most of the harry potter movies... but god that werewolf scenes haunts me to this day with how genuinely terrible the scene was and it still made it to production...

Mcgonagall: Punishes students for disobeying reasonable rules designed to enforce school safety. Shows no obvious favoritism towards any student.
Dumbledore: I'm going to intentionally hire the world's worst wizard to humiliate him. Hope this doesn't have adverse effects on the student population, lol.
@@davidhong1934 dumbledoor waa quite bias towards gryfinndors that was the one thing that makes people not to love him the way he deserves
“And his name is Voldemort! He here so you might as well use it! His going to try to kill you eitherway” Hahaha professor mcgonagall rocks!!!
She doesn't say "He here so", she says "Filius" :D
@SarahLou In the books, everyone calls him that in book 7 because they specify that he has a trace on his name in that book.
Well McGonagall, kingsley, and slughorn even duel voldemort at some point
She said his name, because she doesn't fear him.
Most badass line in whole _Harry Potter_
No matter how old I am , watching this always put tears in my eyes. What a moment.
Every single time I cry watching it. The whole scene means so much
Harry's frist words about snape: who is that man?
Harry's last words about snape: the bravest man i ever knew
"... as I recall he has a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics."
Gotta love McGonagall with her alliterations throughout the series xD
"Babbling bumbling band of baboons"😂
She does have a way with words. I would likely end up biting my tongue by accident or tripping over my words if I tried to say this.
One of my favourite lines by far.
@Shrinivash E18CS052 I think it is..."Seamus got so impatient that he prodded it (the feather) with his wand and set it alight - Harry had to put it out with his hat."
@Shrinivash E18CS052 Yes and as I recall, he apparently had similar incidents of setting himself on fire or blowing himself up in later situations. He knows how to light things on fire and blow them up because he has done so to himself by accident more then once.
I think Snape, Slughorn & Narcissa are the only Slytherins who took Harry's side
And towards the end Draco did to
He could've told Voldemort it was Harry but then pulled a "I have never seen this man in my life"
@@overratedlime3073 Aye. But Dracos side switching was done out of fear. His family did fall down from grace ever since Voldemort came back in Book 4. In book 7 they where barely better off then Houseelves.
cedric grogery
@@Supcharged he was hufflepuff.
Narcissa ? Not really... but at the same time , Narcissa was kinda forced to be a death eater bc her sister and her husband were very loyal ones ... but Narcissa isn't - on his side...
The often unseen powerfully protective forces that benevolently watch over us. Always. ✨
The whole school is afraid of one student💀💀
And his name is VOLDEMORT😈
I love how Nevil was double checking with her like a strict teacher telling you to do something they normally don’t let you do in class
It's like those moments where, despite how strict the teacher is, when push comes to shove, especially involving her students, she'll do anything necessary to protect them, even allowing them to do things she never allowed them to do before!
Agreed. To that point it’s a matter of life and death
@@BigBoss1228
Facts. Sometimes, all bets are off
It basically humanises her. If not shed still be seen as a by the book strixt teacher
In a sense that's exactly what's happening. Which in my own opinion only makes it better.
Dame Maggie Smith is such a badass in all characters she has taken.
She is a real queen and nobody change my mind. This woman is fantastic!
Next, she can easily play the British queen, she would be perfect for that post, too! 😎
I remember reading somewhere that Maggie was battling cancer during production of this movie. If that's true then she's even more of a badass to not let cancer stop her from doing such an epic job!
we loved it when she said “I’ve always wanted to use that spell!” what a sweet lady
i come and watch this everytime to remember the goosebumps i got the first time.
I love how McGonagall finally uses Voldemort's name. It shows that she is DONE being afraid.
She was never afraid, just overly cautious. She's resigned herself to dying to protect the school and the kids for as long as she Flitwick Slughorn Weasley and the other adults are able to do, hence she's just thrown all caution out the window. That's why she sent Finnigan to blow things up,lol
0:17 Slughorn drinking whiskey before a fight is a MOOD.
He is probably drinking Liquid Luck
@@markposthuma2000 i believe the books state he's drinking Felix Felicis
It's Felix Felicis
I never saw that haha
@@yuz_ha what he gave Harry was only a vial. Any overdose of liquid luck would prove disastrous.
I love Minerva McGonagall, she was probably my favorite professor. This part is one of my favorite scenes that have her in it.
The scene and the music is just fantastic you can feel it's the last movie 🫣
Dumbledore in heaven: You go Minnie!
Oh he's definitely cheering her on!
Strangely...you never read about God like element in the entire series! There were no concept of hell or heaven....same goes for Lord of the Ring.... isn't it??
The most closer thing is the Limbo where's Voldemort ended trapped for eternity, but nothing more.
Minerva
Why did I read this in the voice of Micky Mouse...?
“He has a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics!” Her accent is so freaking cool!!
British
@@kdohertygizbur Scottish as well
Translation: "that boy has been blowing things up since he first came here."
Don’t forget her amazing availing of alliterations! 😄
That's world class alliteration.
The sound of the gollems as they fall and move, the sound design is sooooo smoth
Love how Flitwick is a complete badass dueler and was fighting multiple dementors at once in the book
What I love is that the overlooked housewife, Molly Weasley is right next to all of the badass professors being a badass herself
Molly is part of the Order of the Phoenix, and she's been in a world at war for the past three years. She's an overlooked housewife. She's also a powerful witch who's been working hard to prepare for that moment.
@@Cailus3542 She’s not officially part of the Order but she and Bill are affiliated since they were blood traitors
@@enriquepowers She is in the order. She gets to attend all the meetings and stuff
If Voldemort's right hand was Belletrix, Harry's right hand was his future mother-in-law Molly Weasley.
Remember Izumi Kurtis from Fullmetal Alchemist? You cannot simply grasp what a housewife is capable of.
