I went to this concert and it was absolutely spectacular! I splurged and got seats in the upper VIP area in the front row. I fully expected cast members to show up, and was not disappointed, but Eddie Olmos brought the house down. The Admiral led us in a chant of "So Say We All" and we got some cool info on "The Plan", which he directed. Of course, that led into "Apocalypse", which was incredible. But my favorite part was Katee Sackhoff coming out to play "Kara Remembers". She hadn't gotten to do any rehearsal, it was just a last minute thing. She hadn't done it since they filmed that episode, so it was very much like watching her in the episode. She had to relearn it on the fly! Afterward, we got to meet some of the cast. Michael Hogan (Col. Tigh) is a sweet, funny guy. Picked up some merch and got to meet the whole BSG Orchestra and talk to Bear. Left with a signed poster and the early release of the Season 4 Soundtrack signed by everyone. It was an absolute dream. So glad there are videos!
The thing that stuck with me about BSG was a seamless blend of science and religion. It took the lines between the two and blurred it. The music helped so much. Watched it as a kid, and I NEED to rewatch it.

They start dancing, jumping, swaying with the rythme! ! All these years later... and I still wish I knew what the words mean! :P Here's to the greatest and most meaningful TV series in history. Ah, time to re-watch my boxed set again.
The opening theme song is the Gayatri Mantra. A Hindu mantra in Sanskrit. After looking it up I found that there are a few different translations, such is the nature of Sanskrit. "OM bhûr bhuvah svah tat savitur varçnyam bhargô dçvasya dhîmahi dhiyô yô nah pracôdayât", Meaning "Oh, triple expanding Universe, that worthiest source (of Dharma), offering an insight into the shiniest truth, that drives us to ultimate Enlightenment!" Having a somewhat cursory understanding I now get goosebumps over my entire body every time I hear it. Maybe because I’ve recently started meditating. But whatever. I appreciate it that much more. Throughout the series you’ll find other lyrics in Gaelic and Latin. Bear said in an interview that they decided to use the Gayatri Mantra because Edward James Olmos would play it in set to bring focus to the actors. Pretty cool!
Dude....I just wanted to tell you HOW many times over the years I've watched this. Thanks for uploading it, it's one of my favorite all time BSG concerts!!
I think that bear is the best composer of all time not because of his music but because he knows ho to lead.... If you see all his vids... He does not lead. He is one of the orchestra. He is the one making the music and letting the ones to lead to lead. He knows his place and he konws his worth. I wish more people were like him. He knows what he's doing. He wrote the script for the conductor and now he's playing because he knows that's what he enjoys.
Just finally appreciating Prelude to War in it's concert form - the fast strings perfectly capture the fervour as the crews ready themselves for a fight, whilst the overall tone is just so full of pent up energy ready to be unleashed. As Adama would say, "Action Stations! Set condition 1 throughout the fleet!"

13:14 note stand cannot handle the awesomeness of "Fight Night", falls over
All these years later... and I still wish I knew what the words mean! :P
Here's to the greatest and most meaningful TV series in history. Ah, time to re-watch my boxed set again.
The opening theme song is the Gayatri Mantra. A Hindu mantra in Sanskrit. After looking it up I found that there are a few different translations, such is the nature of Sanskrit.
"OM bhûr bhuvah svah
tat savitur varçnyam
bhargô dçvasya dhîmahi
dhiyô yô nah pracôdayât", Meaning "Oh, triple expanding Universe, that worthiest source (of Dharma), offering an insight into the shiniest truth, that drives us to ultimate Enlightenment!" Having a somewhat cursory understanding I now get goosebumps over my entire body every time I hear it.
Love the flutes and bagpipes in "Wander My Friends".
'reuniting the fleet'..that gave me goosebumps...vangelis 2.0
I'd pay money to see them live!! fly anywhere! do another!!!
Listening to "Wander my Friends" is like a religious experience.
I love the way Baltars dream sounds in this
I was thinking the same thing - it sounds frakkin nuts live!
Imagine EJO giving those powerful monologues live in between the songs. SO SAY WE ALL!
Damn it, now i'm gonna have to go watch the whole series...again
Just finally appreciating Prelude to War in it's concert form - the fast strings perfectly capture the fervour as the crews ready themselves for a fight, whilst the overall tone is just so full of pent up energy ready to be unleashed. As Adama would say, "Action Stations! Set condition 1 throughout the fleet!"
wow, what great talent, looks like it was a small venue, what a treat for everyone there.....
I visit here everyday waiting for someone to post a new comment...
Now this is fusion.
The layers.
The styles.
It might be in the 12th root of two, but everything from Africa and Eurasia is here.
The taigo drums my gods
Fracking Awsome this video, Thank You
Brilliant. Transforms me to the BSG universe.
