There are high profile celebrities that need support. The thing is, they are not demanding we pay for it
Neither are Harry and Megan! On several occasions they have said they WOULD PAY FOR PROTECTION IN THE UK! Understandably they would like this protection to be provided by the state (while Harry pays for it) as they are permitted to carry weapons private security firms are not! Just a little reading would tell you this! Harry has also documented this in court proceedings against the state!

However, he dropped the case and agreed to pay £750,000 in costs for both himself and for The Daily mail. He is saying he wants Ravec (a government arm) because they have guns. The courts so far have refused his request and are refusing to allow him to pay for it. H knows the government cannot take on a commercial interest as celebrities would be in a position to make the same demands. The judge ruled in Ravecs favour as it set a precedent if he were allowed to pay. He is more than aware of this, which is why he did not say he would pay for them until the Daily Mail reported H was about to start legal proceedings to demand the same security as the king, for free. Unlike every other senior royal who only get protection if it is an engagement on behalf of the UK government
They are high profile of their own volition. They could both just get normal jobs and lead normal lives. They want the headlines and publicity and IPP status to go with it, that is the problem. What have they done to deserve it?

If the Late Queen had agreed with him, she would’ve made arrangements for his security herself. I understand that there’s a committee that makes these kinds of decisions, but let’s be realistic here; if Elizabeth wanted him to keep his security, it would’ve happened.

Through the years, there have been attacks on Queen Elizabeth, King Charles when he was still crown prince, princess Anne and the list goes on. So far, they have been incredibly brave and lucky. Harry's fear in this regard is very understandable. But if you start thinking like this, it gets very hard to just leave the house. Also, when the Queen was shot at during Trooping the Colour in the 80's, she was unflappable: got her horse under control in less than a minute and just continued on. That not a level of ice cool stiff upper lip one can expect from anybody.

If you did just a little research you would know that Metropolitan Police are not for hire. Do you think every rich person should have access to them? Harry gets security if he gives 30 days' notice, a risk assessment would be done by RAVEC and they would decide. Harry wants IPP status. He won't get it, but it's why he is constantly whining.
As an American i can see harry's perspective clearly. I mean we see how differently kate is treated (despite her very unconvincing story about cancer or even accidentally meeting her husband) over meghan who has a lot of history to back her stories.
