I'm 39 and I just told you this will probably not happen in my lifetime, so obviously it still has a certain level of hold and support. A lot more progress has happened the last 150 years (both economically, technologically and socially), than it did for the last 1000 years previous to that, so you can't really compare yourself to the 1500s when you had no vote, no voice, no rights, and you lived in an ACTUAL monarchy where the king had all the power. The only reason they can even exist in modern society is because they are stripped of all actual power, and only have a symbolical role. They are also more and more becoming a part of normal society, marrying normal people, getting divorces, wanting their kids sheltered from media and having as much of a "normal" upbringing as they can, being normal students (with the whole party life and all), some of them now have normal jobs. Very few are actual working monarchs, because King Charles KNOWS society are not too keen on using their tax money to fund this. And this is happening all over Europe. It's also unfair to give birth to a child and have his or her life all decided for them. I'm 39 and I just told you this will probably not happen in my lifetime, so obviously it still has a certain level of hold and support.
A lot more progress has happened the last 150 years (both economically, technologically and socially), than it did for the last 1000 years previous to that, so you can't really compare yourself to the 1500s when you had no vote, no voice, no rights, and you lived in an ACTUAL monarchy where the king had all the power. The only reason they can even exist in modern society is because they are stripped of all actual power, and only have a symbolical role.
They are also more and more becoming a part of normal society, marrying normal people, getting divorces, wanting their kids sheltered from media and having as much of a "normal" upbringing as they can, being normal students (with the whole party life and all), some of them now have normal jobs. Very few are actual working monarchs, because King Charles KNOWS society are not too keen on using their tax money to fund this. And this is happening all over Europe.
It's also unfair to give birth to a child and have his or her life all decided for them. We all want that freedom for our own children, but somehow we think it's ok for the royal kids to not have the same rights as the rest of us have.
