Good for slow cooking. In a separate pot bring food to boil and then transfer to crock. It will finish cooking over the next few hours. Stays hot for hours. Saves fuel for foods that takes hours to cook, such as stews. Some will preheat with hot water before transfer of hot food to the crock.

Cool, I have seen these in stores and was wondering what they were about. Neat that you can keep stuff hot for a much longer time.

I saw a video (RedRose Homestead) where she put uncooked soup in this crock. She heated everything on her stovetop(NOT in the crock), then poured in the croc & it cooked over several hours. I suspect some things would cook better than others. I think she had cooked chicken, lentils, & vegetables in her example. She also made oatmeal by pouring hot water over steel cut oats & left it in a Stanley thermos for an hour. I think an important step is to pre heat the thermos.

This could very possibly be used for thermos cooking on a larger scale. Thanks for the review.

Keeps hot stuff hot, and cold stuff cold.
I saw a guy carrying one just the other day and asked about it.
After he explained how it works, I asked what he has in it.
His answer.... “An ice cream sammich and some soup.”

Donald Duncan can’t cook with it over the fire, BUT: You can start your beans, lentils, stew, chili on the fire, put it in the Camp Crock, allow it to slow cook under its own heat while you paddle, drive, or explore away from camp.😎

Exactly I might not buy this anymore because a crock pot it to make food and store it in not just store it if would consider this more of a insulated container

Really wish it was something you could put on the fire. With plastic latches and a silicon band in the lid I don't see that being possible. I can't tell but I'll check is the lid plastic also? Thanks for the review even if it doesn't look like something I will need. What I really would like to have is a portable refrigerator that size that runs off rechargeable batteries or 12 volts. Or even a refrigerator that works off of a Bic lighter?

It would be very nice to be able to cook over fire but it's not designed to do that. It's very effective at keeping food hot for long periods of time

I have a small 12 volt fridge that I take for trips and can hold a 6 pack of cans (or lunch meat and cheese). It also can be put on warming feature but I haven’t used that.it was pretty inexpensive and an also use 110 power, which is great to pre-cool it before I go somewhere. Also have used at the bedside for when someone is ill but needs drinks or snacks nearby easily.

Not sure how durable this thing is. Saw this yesterday at Walmart and the two that were on the shelf both had broken latches. The little plastic part that pulls down on the lid was broken.

I started doing my Christmas shopping early because of all the Stanley deals going on right now. I was going to buy that but haven't seen a thorough review. I went with the the growler for my sister in law. This looks very small. If they release a slightly larger one definitely getting this for my sister in law.

I got one of thoz for a birthday present the 1st time I used it was to bring home some stew from a family get together. It was a little hot and I thot it would be okay for the 2 hr drive home, but somewhere along the way one of the plastic buckles (whatever they're called) broke and stew spilled all over the bag I had it in. Showed it to my brother, who gave it to me, and he took it back for a refund. Now I don't trust thoz things.

If you need something else to cook with then buy something else. Common sense.
