Look forward to getting both. Have had my eye on them for some time now, but appreciate the new look of both, as well as the new names for them, too.

The large crock is a great idea for large car trips and you want to avoid restaurants IMO. Just pack a stew or some chile and some good bread and butter and you probably have 2 meals there if you don't go crazy.
Of course for me one of the fun parts of a trip is eating out but if you're car camping what a great idea to bring something precooked for after you get there and set up camp and just want to relax for a bit.

The lid hook on the Crock is a great idea!

I use the thermos equiv to the smaller Stanley and I love it. It uses a collapsable spoon that fits in the lid. I defiantly will look at one of these cause unlike some of my older Thermos or newer Stanley products the paint is just NOT holding up.
My only gripe about the Stanely stuff is that's its really overweight. I know that means it durable as heck but I think it would only be a car camping or lunch container for work.

I was looking for the largest food jar possible. I homeschool (4 kids) and we picnic a lot. Almost daily! My kids prefer hot lunches as opposed to cold lunches. Soups, spaghetti, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, even stews are our go to’s for our picnics. This crock seems too silly for its size but seriously thinking about buying it!

I´m think on use the big one as a container to keep frozen food on my 2 - 3 days camping trips, do you think might work?

I don't know about day three. It will work for two I honestly believe. Pack in ice very well. Good luck!

Is the spork plastic or is it stainless steel?

Do you think the camp crock can be used in a solar cooker? Less than 350 degrees.

    • @DonnyPavoliniOutdoors
      @DonnyPavoliniOutdoors  Год назад +1

I don't think I would try that. With sealed double walled construction, combined with heat, an explosion could occur.

Stanley Crock: CAN NOT RECOMMEND IT.
Many people have bought the Stanley Crock for bringing to church dinners. DOWN SIDE: The side clamps break (even with the best of care) and are not replaceable. I had 2 break on my 1st one. On the 2nd one 1 clamp broke. After 2 different Crocks with breakage, I have given up on the Stanley Crock.

Thermos cooking may not be feasible, because they're generally double walled to prevent heat from escaping out. So outside best may not penetrate the double walled steel. But it would nice to see someone do it. Have you done it before?

Not with this one yet. However, I've had success with some other insulated bottles of this type. Take care brother!

I mentioned your name to Stanley to give you credit for my knowledge of their products. I am now waiting for them to look at pics that I sent to them tonight. I got a prompt response from Stanley to my initial inquiry.

Is it driving anyone else's OCD nuts that he has an open knife/box cutter under his arm and in a completely unsafe location? Close the dang knife, or put it out of the way.

The old one didn’t have the pressure release gasket on the top so you could cook in it the new version sucks.
