If you can find a cook pot that fits inside this, you can bring stew to simmer and then put the pot of simmering stew inside and it will continue to cook, like a thermal cooker.

I bet that would work. This thing does a great job of keeping heat in, so another insulated jar inside of it would stay warm for an awful long time.

Good question. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one with a metal lid.
