Actually more than one neighborhood. You are probably thinking about the very tony docks on Lake Union where Sleepless In Seattle was filmed. Which is crazymaking in its activity. There are others along the ship canal, but my favorites are along the Duwamish Slough. While those are mostly industrial in nature, some are near or adjacent to reclaimed and restored small riparian nature preserves where wildlife, particularly shorebirds, are returning. I have one friend who lives that way, and another friend, a native American, who helped spearhead some of that ongoing restoration. Best of both worlds.
I'm from Seattle. Born and raised in the suburbs. I know how expensive it is here. I've looked at house boats for sale. They range from $100,000 to $300,000 for a couple bedrooms and a place to moor. If you want a house boat that actually looks like a house, or has more bedrooms, more bathrooms, is maybe bigger in square footage, has a party deck, maybe more than one floor, yeah, the price is going to jump up into regular house prices and higher, like into the millions.
I have a new obsession with houseboats and was wondering how to choose between living in a tiny house or a houseboat. Problem solved. This houseboat is amazing.
I would prefer a tiny house over a house boat. Mainly because houses are on land and you won’t get sea sick. Also, house boats may potentially sink if there was a fail in architecture or if someone were to make a hole. Not only that, you may have to purchase a private sanctuary on a lake for security as keeping your house on a public lake is very risky and comes with consequences I would not be willing to face at any time such as an active shooter who can easily shoot your boat due to public lakes being open to fit tourists who may want to go for a ride on a boat or maybe even someone like you, a person with a house boat. Not saying your final choice should be a tiny house but I would recommend that choice.
If you build it right, and light, it's easy to have both. That's what I'm doing now. Design well, and all you're doing is trading a Tiny House foundation for Pontoons or a hull.
I totally agree with the upper deck. It's either too hot or too cold and it can get really windy. The lower deck is more than sufficient plus you're close to the water and you can close up those windows if you want to. Interesting concept!

Its nice for him but i know that there could definitly be more creativity here and not just roof with typical rooms??.... The affordability yes... congratulations but i reckon the TOP deck would have made such a huge difference... even just for a small wine deck.. with a slide a slipper slide down to the water ..thanks Bryce but this one definitely not a fav.
Nice rooms. But you have to walk outside to pass between rooms? What if it's raining? And going from a bedroom to the bathroom at night? And what about security and privacy? I guess you'd have to be ok with living partially outside all the time year round despite weather or location.
I would imagine that rain and privacy is the least of their concerns living in a house boat. In terms of security, it's probably the same ad those that live on conventional boats and yachts. It seems they're docked near other boat owners in an area specific to those living in similar settings.
Love to live in a tiny house most of your video which I love it. This tiny house looks good too, but don't want to live in a water. Maybe for a couple of weeks but definetly not permanent.

Maarten Jongkind yeah, but I feel like most modern Dutch house boats aren't really independently moving boats anymore, but actual houses that need to be moved by other boats, which so happen to be in water. At least the ones I've been on 😄 Of course there are still the older boats that can actually go places tho :D
Hi Maarten, you are correct as in Holland many people live on Housboats/Woonboot! Me included. Some forty years ago! I bought it when I got married and our first 6 years of marriage was spend on this houseboat. It was great, although ours couldn't move (it was permanently situated in that spot) but for that we got access to Electricity and Town water! And because it was permanently situated opposite a grain silo, we had new neighbours every week. These were the boats that came to unload their grains and than moved on again! The life on a houseboat is awesome! We had a balcony where our bicycles were kept but also gave us the room to fish or swim from. Actually we could fish from every room we had, by opening the windows! Living room, Kitchen, Dining room and even Bedroom! One extreme thing I would like to mention is that growing plants (...oh, no not those type Lol, ....but maybe you could????) but just the ones you put in the window, and anything else that is colour sensitive, would either struggle or thrive in these conditions! This is, because of the double reflection of the sun rays; 1) directly from the sun. or 2) second, the reflection of the sun-rays from the water! And that is amazing to watch!!!! Many plants will grow twice as big and fast, while others just shrivel up and burn. I'd live on a houseboat forever, if I had the opportunity.
me. You're right but there's also a company actually renting out real movable houseboats. They're super cozy with a fireplace on board, build on pontoons.
Everyone from America commenting this is expensive doesn’t understand how much it costs to live in Australia. I paid $325,000 for a very tiny two bedroom cottage 30 miles from Brisbane (nearest city to where this guy is). I got an absolute bargain - the bank valued it and I could sell it today for $400,000. It’s costs to live here, but wages are higher so it evens out.
I don't know what the fuck you do for work but 400k for a tiny cottage doesn't seem like anything you can pay for or want to pay for in a reasonable time frame. Wages are higher but I strongly doubt they ''even out''.
Interesting but i have questions. 1) What happens in any event which makes the water rough and choppy? 2) Are the maintenance costs high? 3) Don't you feel a bit too open, as in you have no actual private areas really?
As he mentioned in the video it’s designed to be able to deal with waves and wash. Just like any boat though, it’ll rock around in the waves. As for maintenance costs, it’s a boat which means the cost of maintaining would certainly be more than a home on land. Salt water is a harsh environment! The whole boat has blinds that can pull down, so you can make it as open or private as you choose.
Really liked this house. Funny to see people talk about privacy. People expose themselves more on facebook than with a house like this. Want privacy? Just shut the doors and curtains
So the only entrance to the bathroom is from the outside? Why?!?! That forces you to get dressed just to poop/shower/whatever? Who wants to toss on all your clothes just to shower?
FYI, Bryce---In MN there are houseboats in the Voyageurs National Park near the Canadian border.. You can rent them. And they are taken out of the water in the late Fall (on a boat hoist). Also you do see other lakes in the Boundary Waters area of MN with houseboats And there are houseboats on the Mississippi River too.
Love everything about it except having to access every room, including the bathroom from the outside. That defeats the whole purpose of having a houseboat. I would want to close everything up & flow between rooms as needed.
I love this guy's enthusiasm and upbeat character. The boat is awesome but I'm not sure about the shower only having a bit of frosted glass for privacy from...well, the world and it's mother! 🥺😆
Ever since I saw the "Tammy" movie in 1957, I wanted to live simply on a house boat. I haven't made it yet but this is perfect. This is a smart guy. Thanks for showing us this incredible home.
Bryce, what I love about this, is I didn't immediately get motion sickness from just looking at the boat! Hold yer horses, Markus. Baby steps, ok? No need to cut off your whole arm. Cut off your hand. Then save up for a hook and a parrot. That'll set you up for life on the sea.
built it here in the philippines. Labor is cheap. You could probable make one with 8000usd. About the engine, you could probably make one from old diesel cars. Only downside. It would be loud. But cheap.
I was going to argue that it is not a boat...it is a”float home”... ...but ..damn....they have motors on that thing ! It IS a “house boat” !!! 👍👍💕. 🍹🍹🍹
I think I would have parked it in forward so the bedroom had the view out the back and the lounge was looking at the carpark, even if I was not staying there for long haha. Wonderful little house boat though!
Yeah, Yamaha 25 4-stroke (SWHC) run between $ 3150 to $ 3995 ea depending on where you purchase them and that is just for the outboard motors ($ 6500 to $ 7990 ea AUD)...................................

....but maybe you could????) but just the ones you put in the window, and anything else that is colour sensitive, would either struggle or thrive in these conditions!
Eddie Hope I know I was raised in Amstelveen, so I've seen many houseboats around there.
I live in Greece now and would love to own a houseboat here!
me. You're right but there's also a company actually renting out real movable houseboats. They're super cozy with a fireplace on board, build on pontoons.
It's a nice boat house with spectacular view of the harbour.
Floating brothels. Genius.
He DEFINITELY gave DREW his credit 🤗🤗🤗
I know the costs are higher there. I have a friend who lives in Australia. But the costs always surprise me too
That’s pretty cheap to me...NYC prices and all.
@@MiniM69 Yeah probably also California too. But otherwise no.
This is near Sydney, silly!
He said Hawkesbury River.
But yeah I agree with everything else.
Tiny house boats are always an instant favourite for me
Interesting but i have questions.
Life on the water maintenance maintenance maintenance
I was thinking, "I wonder if anyone is doing Tiny Houseboats?", and here it is! Thank you!
Really liked this house. Funny to see people talk about privacy. People expose themselves more on facebook than with a house like this.
Want privacy? Just shut the doors and curtains
Great living, without complicated neighbors :)
So the only entrance to the bathroom is from the outside?
Why?!?!
That forces you to get dressed just to poop/shower/whatever? Who wants to toss on all your clothes just to shower?
Just make the trip in the nuuuude.
That's how I roll
@@MegaMiir me and you both, if they didn't like what they saw....well then just don't look.
They would need a telescope 🔭 to see what I’m packing... 😏jk
@@macdaddy5796 Not with a name like Mac Daddy 😉🔭
Jennifer King 😏😎😁😛
To each his own! But I love it!!!!
In the US you can get a used house boat that size and quality for about $60k.
Where do you find them in the U.S. for sale?
Quarantine on this house boat wold be incredible
Man you really upload some works of art! Such a great house boat!
Thank-you! Glad you enjoy it. :)
Melihatnya saja sdh nyaman..menyenangkan apa lg bisa lgsg menikmati tinggal di house boat ini..
Impian..🙂👍..
Salam sehat selalu
Love everything about it except having to access every room, including the bathroom from the outside. That defeats the whole purpose of having a houseboat. I would want to close everything up & flow between rooms as needed.
Me too, it's just impractical. I've seen other boats, like Waterlodges, that are much more practical.
I love this guy's enthusiasm and upbeat character. The boat is awesome but I'm not sure about the shower only having a bit of frosted glass for privacy from...well, the world and it's mother! 🥺😆
Beautiful
Glad you like it!
Beautifull floating house.....
2:14 amazing shot, Bryce! 💙💛💜💚
That master bedroom is the BEST I've ever seen!
There are a bunch of similar houses in Serbian rivers. Bryce, you should come and see.
Milica Radović-Župunski. Any specific location? Can’t wait to visit your beautiful country!
Ever since I saw the "Tammy" movie in 1957, I wanted to live simply on a house boat. I haven't made it yet but this is perfect. This is a smart guy. Thanks for showing us this incredible home.
Romantic living on the water vs. the reality of home invasion equals, live at your own risk.
This was too cool!
Nice design but not enough privacy. I could never live on display like that. Love the woodwork.
One might do curtains, electric blinds, etc
How idyllic! This is just gorgeous. I would love to wake up with those views.
That houseboat is gorgeous but I'm having a hard time spending $250,000 for it
thats the brand new price there are a bunch available for less online
If only I had that kind of money to buy something like that. It's the best of both worlds.
Bryce, what I love about this, is I didn't immediately get motion sickness from just looking at the boat! (that's what happens to my father pretty much)... 😁
What a beautiful home, and attention to detail in every possible way... 👍😎👍
So you always won the top bunk, eh? I guess I can see that, a man of your size... 💪😬 hahah
Miss you and Rasa! 😃
Cheers!
🖤🦇
Haha. Glad this video allowed you to keep your breakfast down. One step closer to the pirate life. Hope you’re well dude!
Living Big In A Tiny House I'll have to message you on Instagram, some more possible changes... a storm is a brewing and this pirates life, is ever changing! 😅
🖤🦇
looks so easy to break into
No way! No! This is a dream... I would cut my right arm off for this!
Hold yer horses, Markus. Baby steps, ok? No need to cut off your whole arm. Cut off your hand. Then save up for a hook and a parrot. That'll set you up for life on the sea.
Are you left handed? I deal exclusively in dominant hands....
why don't you use your arm to work and afford this instead of cutting that bad boy off? 😯
This type of houses actually aren't that rare. In the Netherlands there are quite a few 'woonboten' (living boats)
built it here in the philippines. Labor is cheap. You could probable make one with 8000usd. About the engine, you could probably make one from old diesel cars. Only downside. It would be loud. But cheap.
yeahhh nice people make our world better... i just love it ! congratulations for this amazing way to conect people..
Perfect 'house' to survive in zombie apocalypse 😭
Omgosh that is an amazing home that I could see myself living in
I want to live like this!
Amazing! Perfect for family vacation on the sea!
Needs to be screened in for super bug free time
Looks pretty but will need a lot of work.
I was going to argue that it is not a boat...it is a”float home”...
...but ..damn....they have motors on that thing !
It IS a “house boat” !!! 👍👍💕. 🍹🍹🍹
I'd have almost the whole top covered in solar panels
I think I would have parked it in forward so the bedroom had the view out the back and the lounge was looking at the carpark, even if I was not staying there for long haha.
Wonderful little house boat though!
Sweet abode!!!!
Thanks for watching. :)
Living Big In A Tiny House: How is your Tiny House working out for you?
I born & grow in beach area. Beautiful natural beach and floating houses are common things in my life. But still, this is amazed me.
Overpriced on build but I'm in Texas so location means everything.
This channel is change the world . Awesome and Wellcome come to Taiwan.
Over 200K for THAT!? NO way in Heck!
Aussie dollar that's like 125k us
Yeah, Yamaha 25 4-stroke (SWHC) run between $ 3150 to $ 3995 ea depending on where you purchase them and that is just for the outboard motors ($ 6500 to $ 7990 ea AUD)...................................
I KNOW! I have found MUCH BETTER PRICED ONES that are better looking AND cheaper (plus you dont have to walk outside to get to the bathroom)
I’m intrigued by the idea that a smaller space improves family function.
