You asked for unusual instruments in metal music - well, I think I delivered. The Hu have their own unique sound, very new for us Westerners. I love it. I don't understand what they're singing about, but I feel that's not necessary. Just go with the vibe. There are videos on YT where they invited better known guest singers and where part of the songs are being sung in English, but for the very first listen I wanted to introduce them just the way they are. This band is a prime example that you can take any instrument, put it into metal music and it will sound great. Also the throat singing fits perfectly.

The Hu are incredible. I discovered them a few years ago. They were my introduction to folk metal. Listen to their song Wolf Totem.

The morin khuur: a two-stringed horsehead fiddle played with a bow and a tovshuur: another two-stringed instrument, but played with the fingers.
