However in that moment I fall in love with Deep Purple, especially because I discovered songs in repertoire which I could had heard before on radio or somewhere, and its had a kind of mood. Such as Smoke on the water with its legendary riff. The appearance and the clothes of the guitarist, the organist, the singer… were so legendary for me, especially the organist’s glasses, hairdo, moustache… these things gave me the impression that they could be a very great, famous band with virtuoso musicians. The organist’s and the guitarist’s talent how they were playing on their instruments amazed me. Watching the concert, I didn’t know the name of the band or band members yet. I asked my brother about it. He thought it could be Deep Purple.
They have been to Iceland three times I saw them along with my son at 15 early this century and they came back only 2 years later and my son said "I want to see them again" and we went to see them again and they thrilled us !! fantastic. !!
Hey guys, I'm born 1990. I've seen them for seven times, i think. Damn, when you hear these classics....it's a pitty we we'rent born earlier. Too Bad that you can't play in Lörrach this year. I wish you all the best and.... Keep on Rocking Roll! Superb
There are so many live recordings of this number with their own unique intros, but this is my favourite, by far. Both musically and visually. Gillan´s doing his own thing at the front and you can see the other three taking glances over to the other side of the stage, but building the momentum beautifully to that point of no return - Ritchie, or no Ritchie. Jon Lord in particular, showing his prowess here. Cheers Ritchie, a gem of a clip.
@@skibee its sad, on audio record is, but there its shame of editor! not only the interviews but also the shit cuting ruined the concert. isn't the whole concert uncut somewhere?
It's OK it's very nicely recorded and quite polite. Wal make solid basses that do the job. Jon Lord's Hammond is like so many modern Hammond sounds, clean and polished with just a hint of overdrive compared to the lovely dirty grit of those early rock Hammond sounds (eg Steppenwolf "Born To Be Wild" is a good example). The whole sound gets louder as they build to the three chord change, nice and predictable, nothing too outrageous. I'm assuming you haven't heard the German Live TV version from '72. I love the way the "tune up" at the beginning (actually they're just checking their instruments are switched on and mic'd up) morphs seamlessly and organically into something more structured as Lord pumps out that three chord pattern. Blackmore's guitar is wailing, whining and bursting into feedback...everything's so LOUD (whereas these days everything seems to be so...polite and well behaved). Roger Glover is playing a Fender Precision bass with maple neck - a much loved configuration of mine - the deep impact and middle frequency growl of the Precision has an edgy definition that cuts through the mix - and he's a slinky bass player on it. Yeh, the mix has some wooliness in the bass frequencies - it's not as polished and professionally recorded as what we get these days. But I'd willingly sacrifice a bit of hi fidelity for real spirit and attitude.
People like Blackmore will never cease to amaze me. Talent, money, adoration of masses - things only few achieve so why to behave like this... we all have one life. :(
A very Happy 78th Birthday Richard Hugh Blackmore "The Man in Black". 14 April 1945.. Say what you want but.. Ritchie is still a R&R guitar god.. Many more Richard Hugh....
First time I discovered deep purple was when i was 15 in Russia watching this concert on midnight special in 1995. I was like where is the guitarist??? I was in for a surprise!
The first finger vibrato at 3:37 is what defines Blackmore's sound and what a genius he is. The bends after that and the phrases that follow are simply genius. Very melodic guitar playing. Also just look at how tight the band is - the first two verses are without a guitarist and yet the hold on so tight. They could very well complete the song without Ritchie and it would still sound good. The body language of the other members especially Lord, Paice, and Glover clearly indicate how they used to cope with the huge ego of RB. Immensely talented group of people nonetheless.

Damn, when you hear these classics....it's a pitty we we'rent born earlier.
Too Bad that you can't play in Lörrach this year.
I wish you all the best and....

Cheers Ritchie, a gem of a clip.
sad that they cut out the organ solo in this version though :(
@@skibee Yep. I´m sure the 3 of them nailed it.
My God I love to watch richtie blackmore play guitar. It seems like magic.

This solo sums up why Blackmore will always be my favourite guitarist: just so intense and furious in tone, pure passion and natural talent!

Forever Deep Purple !!! 🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🎸🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸!!
Great to see Ritchie here and the rest of the best version of Purple!!
Saw it live then and honestly my buttocks were literally quivering like jelly with the sheer excitement of the band and Ritchie's guitar playing!
Live from Come Hell or High Water - nejlepší živák jaký jsem kdy viděl od Deep Purple.

I saw deep purple two times with Ritchie Blackmore. I saw Steve Morse with deep purple two times. It was a real good thing that Steve Morse joined that band cheers
Exactly... Ritchie was incredible in the 70's, Those riffs and guitar technique were fondamental for the rock music, but Steve Morse is more complex musician and better gutiarist overall. RB was never a great on the live shows...
@@kristiankumanov5732 Blackmore was moody and thru fits too often sadly...
