The greatest bencher of all time. No one comes close

jhenderson is an AWESOME bencher, no doubt ... but on a pound-for-pound basis, there are many guys who are better who are even close to tripling their weight under competition scrutiny ... john haack goes about 585 at 206 bw with full rom, none of that setup action where he moves the bar all of 5 inches ... looks like jhenderson goes about 300 ... he would have to hit 851 to match jhack p-f-p

That last set on the bench press was 600 lb. 6 45 plates on each side, 2.5, and those heavy duty collars on that bar made it 600

I have a lot of respect for James henderson but I've watched all the lifters and he isn't the bench presser that eric spoto is. This video was prob in his prime. He did 405 for 4 here, he prob would have done 10 pushing it. Eric has been known to do 405 for 23 plus reps for years over and over. He has a video 500lb for 17 around the time he set the world record. James henderson done 600 for 4, Eric did 600 for 6, 4 years before he broke the record. And I noticed James let's the bar burry in his chest and springs it back up exhaling. Check out James 711lb record. Eric spoto stops right at the chest Barely touches then presses. Which is the most difficult Krill did even more than spoto 738lb with a pause at the bottom of the rep. And top. Spoto impressed me the most he did it for years, was over 675, 700lb year round. Krill didn't stay over 700lb long. I'm a sissy.

Good points BUT I know James Henderson’s lifts were down under IPF rules and Drug Tested!
There is a difference and the reason Henderson is still the GOAT- 20 + years later!

@@ClintPoore Exactly, his drug-tested all time best from 1997 still holds.

@Hunter Stroupe Big James “HollyWood” Henderson is the G.O.A.T. 5X IPF World BenchPress Champion (1994 - 1998) Champion He was the 1st to bench press over 700 pounds over 20 years ago RAW in a T-SHIRT without WRIST STRAPS and BELT!….Spoto can’t claim THAT!
Under the strictest of rules and guide lines at the IPF Bench Press World Championships drug tested!…….Spoto can’t claim THAT! it is still the highest bench press ever performed in a drug-tested competition as well as the highest ever done in an IPF-sanctioned three-lift-meet. One other note. James Henderson personal best in the gym was 744 pounds.

Hunter Stroupe lol what? Eric Spoto is on soooo many fucking drugs. The guy can’t even so tricep extensions because it will tear his elbows apart. His own words
