@@chizzledtellmewhatuthink9205 Ya but thats for shoulder stability. It was hardly an arch. And certainly wasnt arching to shorten the distance like every other powerlifter does where you can wedge a beach ball between their back and the bench.
@@FlamingChickenTA His shoulder are retracted there maybe a slight 2 inch arch but it's hard to tell because he has a shirt on and he's a big guy. I bench the exact same way that's how I can tell there's a minor arch nothing to dramatic.
He is clean, 5 time world champion, the most drug tested athlete during his championship run, he went to tbn the gospel channel were here done 700 in a 5 minute block, he benched 700, 46 weeks ago year when he was on tbn he is a minister and a well respected man
I talked to James Hollywood Henderson you do know about the federation he was in is a drug tested league, not like a lot of federations that doesn't do drug testing, and it's the most strick, that federation has caught plenty of guys trying to cheat
Mark Richardson exactly lol, the guy has TREMENDOUS genetic gifts but hes gassed up just like every other man whos benched over 600 raw, doesnt take anything away from his accomplishments, millions of men have used gear but only 3 or 4 have benched 700 raw
Bruce Tilley dude i love big James but to say he is natural is ridiculous. He was busted for selling illegal steroids, so most likely he used it as well. Most drug testing are easy to pass, most popular lifters get a heads up on when testing will come and flush it out befote comp. I take no merit away from the big dawg though, bc everyone else most likely juiced up as well and James still smoked them
lifting weights for 10 years and my max bench is 405lbs... this dude can easily bench that 20 times if he wanted to. The power and strength is unreal with this giant.
bodybuilder718 I've been lifting a little over year and I'm 17 years old my max bench is 285-290 I'm trying to get 315 before I turn 18 I mostly just did bodybuilding style of training your 4x10-12 3x10-12 sometimes sets of 6-8 to go heavier and drop sets supersets and it built me well but not where I wanted my strength I was stuck at 250 for about 3 months then I started doing powerlifting routines and learning and experimenting with those kinda methods and I've definitely have gotten strong and still getting stronger
its me good job man! Yeah bodybuilding is not good for developing a good bench. Powerlifting got me increasing my bench weekly. It's been a while, how your bench going?
hello i am weak too.i just started training after a layiff and im going to train for powerlifting too.i try to read stuff about training to develop my own way.if you are too much into bodybuilding you don't get strong.1-3 reps is where its at for strength but it is a bit dangerous for injury.also these guys just lift and eat and they wont diet that's why they get so fucking strong imo.
Believe it. He's real. No drugs! He was my roommate in college. Albany State University. He was benching over 500 lbs. in college back in 1984. He's still a "BAD BOY." Go Room Dog!
KING james will always be known as the first to clear 700 and 700 plus pounds he is like the bruce lee micheal jackson mike tyson micheal jordan of benching
1:35 and 9:27, locking in the mind-body connection! James is sooo awesome! His bench press leverages with elbows under the wrist and bar placement on the chest allow him to move big weights without the need for elbow or wrist wraps. I would put him up there with the best benchers of all time, right at the top with Pat Casey, Jim Williams and Ted Arcidi. Thanks for posting this video, I've learned so much over the years watching lifters like James work their lifts. I recently published a powerbuilding book called IRON-FORTIFIED FOR LIFE and had to reference Big James in it...he's too impactful to leave out!
Greatest of all time. Drug tested in an IPF world meet with the strictest judges in the world wearing only a watch. Spoto is great but lets pause these "World Records". Ever wonder why the all-time world records are broken in some random local meet and not under strict world competition judging?
I could watch videos of this man all day long. Literally, from the time I wake up until I go to sleep, and it wouldn't get old. The guy is not only an absolute monster, but he's also such a genuinely nice, peaceful guy.
James you inspired me and my friends years ago, I’ve just shown my son your training videos and he’s blown away, he’s new to weight training so he’s only lifting 70 kilo’s but he is loving it.
Every kid who is starting to train should listen to what this man is saying!!! "Take your time and do it right and you don't really need all that fancy stuff, like shirts and drugs... you take short cuts, you get short responses." I have told young people the same thing for years, but I didn't bench 700+ raw, so my words didn't carry the weight of Big James; you gotta work for what you get!
This guy is awesome, no two ways about it. Biggest raw bencher ever, although Mendelson did more, he didn't pause it. Henderson owns the biggest paused raw bench record, still. Total class act, and great sense of humour.
It's great seeing someone doing a "heavy" workout and enjopying it, without a bench shirt and 6 guys having to massage his ego. Just from the video clips it seems he has the ability, and the personality to go with it. And the comments he comes up with, makes for a fun and enjoyable workout atmosphere...all with being a very serious lifter. Keep up the good work, and GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!
Can't believe this video is 12 years old. When I first watched this video I had a girlfriend, good job, no stress, and I loved life. That's all gone now.
+Mitchell Hogue yeah but bills best bench was 661, while big James best was 711...James was the stronger bencher, but I'll say that bill was the overall stronger man
Hahaha, this guy is awesome! I just love his attitude. He's funny and seems like a really nice guy. :). Inspiration. "Thank you very much, get out the way!" haha.
he reminds me of Michael Clarke duncan which passed away one week ago..he was also big big guy massive and so kind...with great personality like james..
He just went fast for the warm up sets. He rested for about 4 minutes before his 600lb set, which was his working set. Most people take between 3-5 minutes before heavy sets, so his resting time was pretty normal.
James Henderson lifted in USPF and there is proper PRESS -command. Scott Mendelson didnt stop the bar at his chest eventhough he had a "PRESS" -command and his lift would have been disqualified in USPF. James is still the bench Nr. One!
I watch these guys benching ct,kali, mtown monster, da hulk, and Leroy walker and big james hendo is the real deal wonder what he's benching right about now
no gloves, chalk, bench shirt, no arch in back. He just have his watch and ring on, humble, pure class. The epitome of raw power!
Vernon Mines he arches when he puts his shoulder blades Into the bench.
we not going to debate the small stuff. The point is he is one of GOAT

Best, Pure, Raw Bench Presser, Ever!
"I love the sound of 45-lb plates slapping together!"
Strong as a bull yet very humble & a polite dude, rare blend, respect Sir.
Without question, my favorite bench pressing video on RUclips.
"Thank you very much," every time he gets a lift. Dude is the real fuckin deal.
the best to ever do it, the ONLY MAN to bench over 700lb in a DRUG TESTED meet

i love this man
Henderson was a great body builder. What an inspiration to so many people. Its so sad he had to die at such an early age. He will forever be missed!
Did he die? I can’t find any info on that.
"I gotta tone down my workout for my spotters". Great line.
I remember being a kid and seeing him put up 700 on the power team
Best. Bench in the word
He is awesome
good man, good advice. All the best from Europe !
Haha this guys warm up is my max... damn it.
greatest bench ever no question ask fact
Bill Kazmaier was pause repping 600 for 6 reps

James Henderson you are a beast!
I love the “thank you” mid rep after the handoff lol
"We're gonna crank up the workout now...go to 5 then go to 6"... Only a BEAST can make a statement like that. The workout was cranked up at 400 to me.
