This guy is a half link away from the nut house.
This watch actually makes quite a good dive watch. I've had it on dives in California, Jamaica and Hawaii - and it performs quite well.
I just added a rose gold Seastar 1000 to my watch collection. It's one of the least expensive watches I own BUT it has really surprised me. The build quality of this watch is right up there with much more expensive watches, the time keeping of the watch is perfect, I mean it just doesn't lose any time. I threw it on my time grapher and the beat error was 0.0ms, the rate was 0s/d, amplitude 314 and it was beating at 28,800. That makes it the most accurate mechanical watch I own. Now the big shocker - I went down to my local country pub where the clientele are regularly sporting a whole host of "flashy" watches. You regularly see Rolex, Omegas and Hublots etc. No one has ever noticed or commented on any of my higher end watches until I rocked in with the Tissot! 😂 My first time here by the way, very informative and entertaining review, I think I'll stick around for a while. 👍
Had the green... Accurate at minus 1 per day
I added this to the Tissot sub group of my collection. I have the T Race, Visodate, the V8 racing chronograph, the ana-digi T Touch and the PRX. I enjoy Tissot as an entry level Swiss brand.
"Entry level" is in my opinion a relative term! I've owned luxury brands and couldn't justify spending all that money in one place! I own Tissots, Hamilton's,Casios AND I can still pay my rent!
I've had this "shiny watch" since 2018 and I can tell you, it looks as good as the day I bought it, daily wearer, solid AF, can take a beating - I get lots of complements, 300m is no messing around, more than most japanese divers (which i love) for the same price, it puts it in rolex omega territory for shiny diver.
I appreciate your honest review but I wholeheartedly disagree. Those beasty hands, blue lume, ceramic, the dial, the no nonsense tough movement with 80hrs
Absolutely impossible to beat. This watch made me a tissot fan and now I have the le locle that I bought for my wedding day and the visodate which both are absolutely gorgeous.
It's not so bad. I have 2 of these and enjoy wearing them very much. Perhaps you should review the upgraded versions.
I generally agree with your view on Tissot. That being said the quartz visodate (silver with black dial) is easily the favourite watch of my collection. Yes, no lume, no AR coating and yes it's 'only' a quartz but I don't own a watch that makes me smile more, and for all Tissot's mass market cash grabs and uninteresting watches, I will defend the visodate to the death.
I have this watch and do like it, I bought mine secondhand and mine is the one you showed in the picture with only 2 lines of text. The extra text must be a new thing. The only thing I would change and I agree with is having white numbers on the ceramic bezel insert and I'd prefer it to be matt as well. Would be interesting to see you review the new Seastar 2000 to see if it is any better ?
The 2000 is 46 mm!!!!!!!! Wtf!!! But the dial looks great Dale!! Hope your well man!!
I might check that out as third time lucky! I had two Tissots, including this and a PRX both gone now for different reasons. This is one is 46mm but for my 8" wrist it's fine and as I dive, bigger is better, plus over a wetsuit you won't be worrying about size, once it's a reliable backup. I've lost confidence in Tissot however, I won't buy it new.
@@brianmsahin I have a large wrist too so I'm happy with the size, I haven't dived with it as the bezel action is too loose and is quite easy to knock and move it. I could try sorting it but I have other watches I use as a dive computer back up, mainly a couple of citizen promaster watches.
@@dalerichardson8842 Thanks for the info Dale. Much appreciated...👍👍👍
It took me a long time to warm up to Tissot, but recently bought a sporty-dressy "Couturier" day/date Powermatic 80 model that's actually quite impressive for the $260 USD price I paid.
Yeah, that’s just a great value for money. I think under $500 it’s almost impossible to find something both good looking and robust like that.
You missed the mark this time. The #1 thing a watch needs to do right is tell time, and after 2 years mine is nearly spot on every day. Many others have said the same thing. You get this kind of accuracy for a few hundred bucks, while most people sing the praises of Seiko which costs more and is off by 20 seconds a day. I will also only has 2 lines which I prefer, Tissot needs to go back to that.
Scott! Thanks for watching my friend! I don’t try to hit any mark ! ;) i just say how I feel and the execution of this watch is all over the shop but that’s just my opinion ! This is way at makes the world go round!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR you should try harder
A hot take/click baity thumbnail leads to an extremely reasonable take. I love Tissot, just not the Sea Star.
Kenny I appreciate this comment! Not usually one for Click bait thumbnails but its only specifying the content this time I guess hahahaha. Hope you are well and thanks for the support!
I own a Tissot Seastar 1000 from the early 2000s. It's one of my most beautiful watches (at least the most beautiful diver) with great attention to detail and still proper ruggedness. Yeah, the bracelet is kinda cheap. I paid 350€ for a 2nd hand piece in mint condition. I will say tho that the recent Tissots don't appeal to me at all, especially the current Seastar. Btw I prefer the 4hz ETA much over the Powermatic version. Power reserve is overrated imo.
I’ve owned and ultimately sold several Tissot watches. I did settle on a white/silver dialed Visodate on a milanese bracelet that looks and wears like a dream. It is the prior generation with traditional ETA movement. It will remain as keeper in my collection of a Rolex, Breitling, Hamilton, and several Seikos.
I’ve seen this piece advertised and pushed on multiple watch buying websites. It’s never really grabbed me by the balls like others have. Now that I’ve seen it a little closer, my opinion has not changed. It’s definitely not the watch for me, but I respect anyone that sees it differently. Great job, as usual. Cheerio!
Apart from the bezel action , it was a solid piece of Swiss engineering Dan! Just not my cup of tea
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Did you check out the 36mm ladies versions? At a glance they looked nice to me. Nice and simple and just nice with no bells and whistles. I love Tissot when they stick to simple designs. I'm in love with their simpler and elegant dress watch designs. These men's Seastar watches aren't personally my style either, but I still think they're very impressive. Are they very popular?
I don't like the Powermatic 80 movement (23 jewels) because they're all Plastic, plastic and plastic parts ( Escape wheel, Pallet fork and so on)
The bezel sounding like running your fingers across a comb is spot on. So funny. 🤣
Fred! Appreciate you watching the show and thanks for the support!!!!
Another great, honest, and fun review from MWC. I do agree on the design aspect for Tissot watches that they look off or a bit cheap versus their Swatch counterparts like Hamilton, and Certina. I recently checked out a PRX to see what the hype is about, but got disappointed by it. It looks too big and bulky for my 7 inch wrist. Also, the bracelet looks and feels like it belongs to a more affordable watch IMO.
Thanks for watching Michael! Big respect for a brand that has grown through wars, recessions, quartz crisis's's's's's ! The know where they sit in the watch hierarchy in Swatch but every now and then they need to do more with their heritage line and then not milk it!
Same. I really wanted to like the PRX but it just felt clunky and too shiny... 7.5 inch wrist it still sat too big
Did you look at the 35mm version?
@@jacksonboyd unfortunately, the 35mm is not available in my area just yet. Hopefully I can try soon if it's available.
@@carstairs242 ah ok fair enough. As a current owner, I highly recommend it!
I have to agree with you MWC, I don’t think this watch is for me either. With all due respect to Tissot, it feels like they’ve got a very generic dress diver type design but they’ve also got several contrasting elements going on at once and their proportions are off slightly so everything looks just a bit “wrong” to my eyes anyway.
Seems as though they are very well put together with a rock solid movement and the brand has lots of history and represents a great entry point into the world of Swiss Made watches so I think there is a lot to like with Tissot and the potential is more that there for the brand if the design speaks to someone more than it does me. As you said, watch collectors all like different things and that’s part of what makes this hobby so interesting 👍
Great comment Gareth! I believe Tissot are gonna bring out many more heritage watches in the next 5 years. Their best ones were the oldies! They don’t have a vast array of bangers like Hamilton but a line like the Navigator needs to be rinsed!!!!!
Great honest review. This is pretty disappointing for a Tissot. It’s hard to find any real likeable bits apart from what’s tucked away in the engine room. Even Mr Pagani was at a loss
hahahaha thanks for the support my friend! He swears he used to sell hoovers with the movement name! who are we to disagree?!:]
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR very funny. I think Henry must have fired him
Tissot movement is crazy good for the price. I can get 36mm 80 hours power reserve swiss made watch for 260 dollars. The dial designs is boring, really really dull tho.
Having a movent that ticks away the same as my SNK809 just doesn’t do it for me my friend anymore. High Power reserve is pointless for me with 35 watches that likes to rotate !;)
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR In the word of Jody of JOMW on his thoughts on Tissot, "The behind is better than the face".
I thought I was the only person on earth who didn't like Tissot. Seriously.... not one of them. I've tried. Bought a few, fell instantly out of love on arrival. Flipped. Never missed them. If you like them.... I'm happy for you. I just don't.
Yep same here my friend. Me personally I see Tissot as an entry level Swiss brand for non Watch folk to own a good solid Swiss made watch. The designs are washed out sterile, generic ones that tick boxes instead of exuding their stamp on the watch world
You can’t like them all. If you did, you aren’t a reviewer you’re a cheerleader.
I have an entry level Tissot. Just over $200 for a powermatic 80 watch with sapphire crystal and decent depth rating. It’s a daily beater that looks good with every NATO I throw on it.
The dial looks much better proportioned on the 36mm version. I'm not surprised Tissot cut costs by producing the applied markers in only one size. It looks like it was designed by committee. It's Tissot's "well, I suppose we have to have a dive watch in our range" watch.
I have several Tissots in my collection and considered adding this one. Like you say, different strokes for different folks! I'd rather it were brushed where it's mostly shiny as well though.
Airwolf….the greatest show ever in the history of EVERYTHING!!! You earned a “like” today
Thank you my friend!
Blimey. This is the first time I've watch(ed) one of our vids, and you're as mad as a box of frogs. Love it. Well done on being so barmingly brilliant and different. Keep it up (for wifey's sake). Tick tock. Subscribed.
I have a gold Tissot Seastar Seven that my Granddad gave me, because all I had at the time was an ageing SWATCH Watch, that was pretty loud and a Casio digital watch that was beaten up a bit, both didn't look good during formal occasions and I was at the age of going to college and job interviews. The Tissot was great when it was my only dress or sensible watch (as soon as I got rid of the gold stretchy bracelet that seemed to be on every watch from the 70's for a black leather strap. But as soon as I started to buy other watches, I found myself not wearing it.
Thanks for watching my friend! AAAAAAArrrrr but now your talking family memories and it doesn't matter what it looks like now its priceless!
My favourite part of the watch…… Airwolf reference!!!!! I love Airwolf! Great review as always!
How good was Airwolf!!!!!!!!???????
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR bloody brilliant was Airwolf!!! Stringfellow Hawk and Dominic Santini! Along with a supersonic Bell 222 helicopter! Aerodynamically impossible but awesome!!!
Incorrect IMO - this is the best sub $1,000 watch on the market and it gives me similar satisfaction as my Rolex GMT Master II at 10 times less the price.
Your observation of the hour markers being too small for the dial has made me paranoid about my 14060m Submariner so thanks for that! Brill video as always, cheers 😀👍
Hahahaha sorry Martin!!!! I didn’t like how they hung over the dial to!
Hey buddy I have a Seastar! (Personally attacked) 😤 Jk all good, I actually agree with most everything you said. I think what’s missed here is the bang for buck. Yeah there are better diver’s for $1000 more. But they’re $1000 more lol. $600 for a dive certified swiss automatic sapphire crystal 80 hour power reserve blah blah I think is pretty good!
You're right about this one mate, too shiny shiny for diver, needs more brushing. The bezel is a bit meh too. Very nice work as always.
Thank you my friend appreciate that. Certainly with £600 there is a lot of choice out there!!!!
You say that is if anyone actually dives with these watches. LOL!
Nice review of the Seastar 1000. when I started to get into watches back in 2019, I saw this watch at an AD and I tried it on. The bad thing is that apart from the price, the watch was too big for me and in the end I dd not buy it because i felt it di not fit my personality. I like dress watches and some sport watches like the Casio G-Shock. Keep it up!!😍😍
I bought a Seastar 1000 a couple of years ago, I didnt like the shiney glossy ceramic bezzel on it. I replaced it with a Seastar 2000, it looked and felt so much better, however it was too big a watch
Why oh why make it 46mm!!!!????
Good Airwolf reference.................'apart from that all good', what a quote!
Cheers Michael! Hope you are well my friend!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I am indeed thanks Russ , keeping busy with the grandchild
How can you not like the Tissot Seastar 1000 43mm, the silver variation. Stunning dial.
For the larger wristed the 2000 turquoise dial is fantastic. Gotta have the wrist for it though 😆
I usually agree with you but not today! I love my little Seastar. That's what makes watch collecting fun - we are all different and I respect others opinions. Apart from smart watches which are horrible 😂
Hahahahaha I love that you love it! As it should be! It’s just me!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR keep up the good work Russell. Love the vibe you are expressing - vive la difference etc!
Yep, agree- had one and returned it. Just looked wrong. Also as mentioned the next date creeping in, clearly is poor manufacturing.
I have to say I agree with you Rus.
I have thought about the PRX in quartz but then saw so many reviews showing the second hand missing the markers. If my Casio Duro can do that then surly the PRX can. Tissot have never really interested me but I want them too if you know what I mean. Like you said though, everyone is different and if you like this particular watch and it makes you happy then strap it on your wrist.
Thanks for the review Rus.
Well said Matt thank you!
Mad Cool. I'm not a big fan of Tissot but 2004 I got the new Seastar 1000 black on black-rubber as my daily work watch. I work in marine offshore and that Seastar have being my companion up till now, this without any breakdown or malfunctions. The watch is not even serviced. I'm surprised on how robust and tough this watch is, pure solid quality. I also have 2pcs of Oris as weekend watches and both of them are down and malfunctioning, one with "5" hour marker fell off and the other with the "second" hand fell off. My dress watch Rolex datejust 36 16200 is also out of commissioning since one of the lumina dots fell off and went in the date window and into the movement. Will take a serious look at Tissot Seastar 2000 Pro 80. All the best.
Love your channel. You are awesome and you rock! I am recommending your channel to anybody that’s into watches. Wished other reviewers had a format like yours.
I have a Tissot PR-100 with the Powermatic 80 and I was really surprised at how accurate it is. I was expecting it to not perform as well in that department considering it runs at a slower BPM. But then again, I just wear watches, I'm not all that knowledgeable on the technical aspects of watch design.
Powermatic 80 are very accurate, the lower BPM is to save energy, but the only real negative is the less smooth second moment. In terms of keeping time, it's regulation is set (cannot be adjusted at home), but luckily it's accurate.
I don't see how it's a desk diver. I think a desk diver is referred to when a watch looks like a diver but is not functional. For example a diver that doesn't have a lumed bezel (pip) or the Seiko 5 divers that only have 100m water resistance
That’s great my friend!
My watch hate is Tag Heuer .. £1650 for BATTERY powered quartz movement...Will give that a miss but thank you anyway, Tag Heuer.
I would want jewel movement/automatic for this kind of money. Fitting a cheap battery-powered quartz movement in a watch that "Tics" once a second is for the manufactures convenience, not ours.
I am really against people buying fake watches ... But come on Tag Heuer a QUARTZ movement in a watch costing £1650 GBP.
I bought a genuine Seiko SNK809 with a 21-jewel automatic movement for just £100... So I refuse to pay that much money for a watch with a cheap Quartz movement fitted.
Thank you so much for this video.
Absolutely agree on the SNK ! What I would say is that inside the Tag would be a Swiss Quartz movement and would have accuracies that a mechanical watch could only dream;) I have a F1 tag the wife bought me 10 years ago! Never wear it! However the Grand Seiko SBGN003 003 Quartz GMT!? That is awesome!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Thank you so much for your reply ..You know "Your stuff" ... I would love a Grand Seiko .. Sadly they are out of my reach
Thank you so much once again for your reply... Your "Wacky" style of video scared me a bit at first... But after I have seen a few of your videos...Your style of videos has grown on me.
I once thought I was a fan of Tissot. I thought that because I got beguiled by the powermatic Gentleman and purchased one. I really liked that watch, so I just assumed I liked Tissot.
But then I broke that watch, and set out to replace it. I decided to fill it's place in the collection with a different Tissot. I searched their entire catalogue and could not find a single OTHER watch of their that I liked.
It turned out that I wasn't really a Tissot fan, I was just a fan of that one watch. So, I went in an entirely different direction and filled that winder spot with a Hamilton Navy. This being my third Hammy, apparently, I am a Hammi fan in the end.
Who knew?
HAMMYAHOLIC!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing my friend and thank you for watching the show!
@@alfieakaronaldog Right.
I had two watches that scratched the same itch. I had the Gentleman that I broke, and a Hammy Jazzmaster, both slotted in the "dressy casual" space in the collection. So, when the Gentleman broke...I did not necessarily have to but something for that space.
But what I did need was something blue.
I also did not need another real diver. My top watch in the collection is a real rollie submariner. I also have a Kamasu and a steeldive 1953, for when I want to wear a diver without having to be in fear of damaging the rollie.
So, I really could have found something blue as a backup watch for any category. This is what made the desk diver work for me. And Hamilton, well...Hamilton always seems to work for me.
I'm not a fan of this watch either and agree with all your criticisms. I will say, I'm not as down on Tissot as you are though. I have a PRS 516 (I received as a gift) and I quite like it. It's a casual motor sport chrono. The build quality is great! The looks are great! It's remarkably comfortable (though with the butterfly clasp I think I just got lucky there). And with the PRS 516 Tissot have done something I haven't seen on other watches, but really like! They have a circular brushed ceramic bezel and it really works. Gives the bezel a more dull, aluminum like look with the strength and durability of ceramic and it looks fantastic. I wish more watch companies would do this as a shiny bezel doesn't always look right (depending on the watch). Thanks for another great review Russell!
Good stuff here Ben thank you! Whats the movement of the PRS 516? Is it chunky?
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR they have quartz and automatic versions, the auto is the VALJOUX A05.H31. Dimensions for the quartz are 42, 20,12. For the auto: 45, 22, 16. Mine is a quartz, the auto looks to be quite chunky.
@@BenOwen152 I was gonna say 16 is a biffa!!!! 12 is great!
Tissot PRS 200 is the best watch ever made in terms of price range and quality/looks
I would say as long as you like integrated bracelets ? Definitely a cool watch
I meant in general, it’s affordable, quality is maxed out for that price as well as looks, size is clear medium and fits mostly everyone’s hand, something like a one hit wonder in music, not everyone is familiar with the band but everyone dance to their song
Not much more I can add here. You hit the nail right on the head. If I was in the market to get this watch, I'd get a Casio Duro. 10+ on the video!
Cheers Chris!!!!
Casio duro’s are bad at this point
@@Goyxrd3 What don’t you like about the Duro?
Ha! That is exactly what I did! I have two Duros and I love them. For the price they're too good to pass up. Yet in general I just do not like diver watches at all.
Tissot is not a brand I would usually turn to, but I have one in my collection. I bought a Ballade Automatic Chronometer on the grey market from Jomashop. I paid £355 , which included delivery and all import taxes. Quite a bargain for a COSC certified watch with an 80 hour power reserve I think.
355 pounds? Where the heck did u buy It?
@@anargya9825I bought it from Jomashop, an American website based in New York. All their prices are in US Dollars. The watch i bought was $374.99. I took the option to pay the import taxes at the point of purchase, which took the price to $463.98. With the exchange rate it came to £355. You have to remember i bought the watch in February this year. Since then the US Dollar has strengthened against the Pound so you wouldn't get it for that price now. The watch is still on their website if you want to see it, but is marked as out of stock.
this channel is underrated. which tissot is recommended in your opinion? I have a chance to buy a used PRX and Visodate, T Race abd ana digi but found that I like the divers more. I just bought a kamasu and seiko sumo hulk which I adored. I was initially looking for this powermatic seastar 1000 but got desuade by this video. Now that you remove one of my options, you are obliged to recommend me another alternative. Lol. Kidding aside what watch at the same price range do you highly recommend to add to my cheap collection ?
Personally my friend, the fashion of having a watch with an integrated bracelet will not last imo. The Visodate is a Vintage timeless design with endless strap options
I’m not a fan of that one. The Certina action diver looks better if you want a swatch entry level diver.
If I had spotted this on the street I'd have definitely mistaken it for a Casio Duro.
LMAO you're right!
hahahahaha a Duro is better
It's a fine watch.the 2000 is even better.would like to see a review on the Mido ocean star and the Rado captain Cook.both brilliant watches
thanks for watching my friend! A Captain Cook is on the list! Mido a little lower down but still on the list! the 2000 is 46 mm??????????!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!
Ps:no one talks about the tissot astrolon.why?look it up.it was very versatile and important. Guess why...
Considered both of them but ended up with a spb143! The Captain Cook is lovely though
Great video as always Russell! Good thoughts on Tissot as a whole. I think I agree with most of what you said! Tissot makes a good number of nice dress watches but other than that, a lot of there stuff is a little weird. No doubt good quality though. I was also never a fan of that big “T” counterbalance and my last name is Town so you think I would… 😅
Thanks for watching Josh! Hope Matt still loves me!!:] Y'know the swords a magician pulls out of a box that has an attractive lady inside? This handset reminds me of those swords!!! hahaha. The T is too big but the idea is there isn't it. Much prefer the trident on the CW! Hope you are well my friend!
Generally I love Tissot. Just not the Seastar line.
My favorite is the Gentleman Powermatic 80. I own the blue dial on the bracelet. It is definitely in the running for a one watch collection. A great everyday, do everything piece.
I also really like the Visodate. Another great looking watch.
These Seastars though... not my choice for a diver.
What is your opinion of the Ballade?
what is your opinion of the Ballade?
@@davidcrandall4958 Until you asked, I was not familiar with that line. I've no experience with it in person. Those are some good looking watches, though. Definite Datejust vibes. Nice dress watch if you've got the wrist for it - 41 mm diam.
Apart from the date window being a bit cheesy showing the date from the next day. I quite like the watch.
I’m planning on doing a deep dive into tissot history so will see if I agree with you after that! I think they have a good watch you wear to work that looks nice but isn’t too expensive vibe .
Mate you make great content. I'd be curious to see what you dig up. I've commented on this video agreeing with Rus. I've never realy been taken with Tissot. I like the PRX but haven't got one.
I bought one online when it was released and didn't keep it. I do dive, but as you said too shiny. My own fault, I was imagining it was more brushy from the photos! The bezel on mine wasn't as loose though as it seems to be on yours, it was tight enough. As for lume, my score was 3, another reason I sold it. It's actually the second Tissot I sold as I also got rid of my quartz PRX, the seconds hand hit two markers, the 12 and the 6 and missed every other one. OCD overload! For a good diver, if you dive rather than desk dive, any one of the Seiko Prospex range. However for desk diving I think the Seastar is OK if you like shiny things. If you want a Swiss watch possibly one of the newer Chrisother Ward's that don't have writing and logos all over the place.
Honest review. Tissot can do better by looking into their 70s models like the PR 300 and others. Follow Doxa and offer some vintage goodness. As it stands this od pretty uninspiring and I’d be looking at Seiko or Citizen.
Would be cool for you to find a modern Tissot that gets the MWC approval. I am not a fan of most Tissot watches myself either. Until my wife bought me the Tissot Ballade Chronometer in silver for a big life celebration. It’s a stunner!
In my early watch collecting journey, I bought a COSC certified quartz. Talk about a marketing gimmick lol.
HAHAHAHAHA that is brilliant!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR lol I failed to mention it was a Tissot lol. I thought I was big stuff lol
I know what you mean about Tissot. They should be poised to dominate at this keen price point....but somehow. Mineral glass? Strange isn't it....and I fully agree about the shiny quality. Just slightly 'off' somehow.
Agreed my friend! Just something not right about the designs!;)
I don't own a Tissot, but I wouldn't hesitate buying one if I liked the look. This Seastar watch doesn't offend me, but I can understand MWC's criticisms. I think the design was a bit too enthusiastic in some ways. The date wheel "intrusion" made me giggle a bit. On the other hand, I have had so many tight bezels in my day, I can get on ok with a loose one ( no double entendre to see her).
Hahahaha love it!
Couldn't agree more. Hour markers are shoved against the edge of dial hitting the chapter ring... wtf?
I have a Seastar 2000, a far superior piece to the 1000. The 1000 was meant to appeal to the average schlep who wants a Swiss desk-diver but the Seastar 2000 is specced out like an Omega Planet Ocean. It's a SERIOUS dive watch, not a desk-diver.
Own the Seatar 2000. Not even 1/10th of a Planet Ocean. On paper isnt the same as real world.
I have a prx and came here because I think i want another. I’ve gotten lots of unprompted compliments on it and keeps time perfect.
Superb my friend!! Keep on Tissot truckin!!!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR will do bro!

I DONT KNOW WHY KNOBODYS MENTIONED THE POWERMATIC HAS PLASTIC PARTS .
The escapement (pallet fork and escape wheel) is made of some kind of “plastic”.
I own a 1979 Tissot SeaStar and it is ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL to the PRX! The 1979 sets differently!

Difficult to justify the prices of those when I can get the same module G for £50 my friend. There is quality with Tissot and I’d rather pay for £500 for a Tissot then 4k for a suuup’d up G shock square
To each their own, I own that watch and love it
Big respect to you my friend! Wear it in good health!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I love the dial and the strap very comfortable
i have one too, the blue burst dial on rubber strap is the only one that appealed to me. As for the ceramic bezel, looks very classy and understated, so another positive in my view. As for the print on the dial, the first gen was a per the marketing photo.. less busy, n just right
Great reviews as usual, congratulations on over 17k subs .
Joe! great to hear from you and thank you!
The new plain Blue Dial quartz 35 mm PRX is absolutely identical to the 1979 plain Blue dial quartz Tissot SeaStar 35 mm!
It's becoming harder and harder to find honest reviews like this on RUclips. Everyone is soooo afraid to upset manufacturers/brands by saying what they actually think. More than likely it's because they're afraid that they'll get put on the "bad" list of these brands risking any potential for these brands to send them watches for reviews in the future. We then end up with these watered down reviews that are all over RUclips now. This was SUCH a breath of fresh air! Thank you so much my friend! Big thumbs up.
Same boat, I’m more of a Hamilton guy. Looking forward to your opinion on tissot
I actually have a Tissot in my collection, a dress watch; le loc Chronograph Automatic. It doesn’t get much wristtime…but when I dress up it’s perfect and would not want to miss it:)
Very sophisticated watches for sure! You've got that one watch to be called up every time a dress situation arises!!!! love it!
its Le locle!
I totally agree with your review and I also will add that the font of those bezel numbers looks outdated and ugly.
Agree my friend! Thanks for watching!
MOST HILARIOUS yet very educational Watch Channel, RUSS you make learning fun!!!!!💯🥰
I like your review, but disagree. The Seastar is a beautiful watch.
Best regards.
Thank you for watching my friend! Total respect to your opinions! All the best!
Own the older version, rather like it but don't love it, wear it now and then, not work me upgrading, got a good price on it grey. Far worse canbe had. As you said people have different tastes and happen to like it. Wouldn't die for it thought. Good to hear a contrastic report. Most have been positive. With Tissot, Hamilton, Mido and Certina, I do see cross pollination between the various brands, similarities. Some more some less.
Absolutely fine with that my friend! Yours may not have the 3rd line of text at the bottom? Cleaner look!
Hmm....I was looking at these when I wanted a diver, but didn't like the dial (does look a bit cheap or tacky, or something). Something about it. Ended up with a Citizen Aqualand that is a big, tough as nails serious dive watch and love it. Liked it more than all of the Seiko divers that RUclips told me I had to buy, as well as all of the cheap Casio's (also spruiked by RUclips watch reviewers).
I do however love my PRX Powermatic 80 with the blue waffle dial. Just looks great and this would have to be one of the few channels and comments sections that dislikes them so much. My old PRS200 has never let me down either and still looks good.
I subscribed to your channel anyway, though I do have a soft spot for Tissot. :)
Thank you my friend!!!! I like old Tissot definitely;)
Great review man, I’ve got the gold one on black silicone, I absolutely love it. You must have a press review watch or something, because the bezel action on mine is top draw.😎
Thank you for watching my friend! Yeah I’ve heard mixed reviews on the bezel! This was a new watch you could buy from F&G not a review piece . Glad you’ve got a good’n!
For a first watch, it’s ok. I would like that Tissot reissue the Janeiro. Maybe one day.
Thanks Christian!! Yes that does look nice!
Your wife's comments always make me LOL.
can you do a review on the seastar 2000?
I’ll make it so! It’s big though my friend!!
Impossible to find this upgrade in the UK unless direct from Tissot.
Still, some retailers are knocking out the older version for upto 20% off (won't have the engraved bezel but also won't have the extra writing on the face).
Honest, fair critique of this model. I agree, just go with Hamilton instead.
7:22 Yeah, Airwolf ruled. 👍🏻
At 300 M with a helium escape valve, how is this a desk diver?
These are divers with no history man. For the non watch enthusiasts consumer that wants a decent watch from Switzerland. Decent but nothing more
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Surely the specs are the only important thing when you're diving. The watch enthusiasts who care about history are the ones wearing divers at their desks :)
Not so controversial,- rather spot on! Cheers mate, thanks for all your effort!
Can you please give me your opinion of the seastar 2000? Thanks
"looks rubbish" HAHAHAHA! those are some of the best bits, lol. my wife literally says the same thing about darn near every watch i show her,
Yes mine to!!
Just found your channel from the states. Chicago area. Great review. Helped me make a decision on this vs another brand. Happy to subscribe to your channel
Tissot quartz watches make no sense to me. Had a chrono which was bettered in all aspects by a Casio chrono at half the price. However, the Seastar uses the excellent ETA movement seen in sister watches like the Hamilton which is arguably better than equivalent priced Seiko watches. I have lots of Seikos of which my favourite is my Prospex Padi mini turtle pepsi diver which keeps great time and is very comfy on the wrist but the Seastar movement betters it. Torn between a Hamilton, Seastar 1000/80 or a Seiko Pressage Skydiver for my next one. The Seiko wins on looks but is limited to a 4R36 movement.
How does he feel about certina?
Bit iffy with Certina !
certina is junk
Have to agree, the hands and indices just aren’t right and to me makes the dial look awkward.
You hit on all my issues. Tissot has no dive watch history or heritage and it just looks like a desk diver despite the 300m WR. I think 'Powermatic 80' sounds cheap and the bezel is too shiny and not tool looking. Now while I am a certified diver, I will probably never dive with a dive watch in this day and age of dive computers (though I do have an SKX and a NY0040 which are true dive watches with history, albeit very affordable). However, even though I will never dive with it, I still want it to be a real dive watch with some heritage to be proud of. I have been looking for a nicer pseudo luxury Swiss diver for wearing out to nicer events (I can't seem to wear out my cheap Chinese Sub homage) and I have considered the Tissot, Mido, Hamilton and Certina. I think Certina being ISO certified is the best choice here of the swatch group. Unfortunately, they are all 43mm and I would really prefer 41-ish mm. I do have a Seiko 5 GMT in batman which has a dive aesthetic, but is also not a real dive watch. First world dilemma....
Couldn’t agree more with the thoughts about Tissot. Nothing I’ve seen really makes me go ‘oooh’ 😄
It's tough as the brand has the history I love but the best watches they have are the old ones they don't make anymore and haven't made for 30 years!
Very true, fingers crossed for some faithful reissues. Navigator 817 perhaps? 👌
