What I personally really loved was the very female heavy main cast! Usually media in this sort of genre tends to have a male heavy cast (out of habit, it feels like) which is fine but it’s really, really refreshing to watch a show where most of the main characters are female without it being an overly feminist statement or a show geared towards women. If at some point we want the media we consume to be representative and balanced I believe this is the way to go! Making really good things and actively being inclusive without it becoming the main focus.

Although the main character is a man I really enjoyed the diverse range of strong female characters in the final without it being pandering like the endgame scene
exactly, this show didn't seem to be tokenist at all, a great way to actually represent everyone without making it explicitly about race and gender and pushing an agenda

The fact that they managed to make an origin story for a powerful black female superhero feel natural and didn’t revert back to “oh well this black person is dealing with racism, that’s her whole thing” or “oh wow did you see how this woman is experiencing sexism? No need to expand on her personality, she was patronized by a man once and that’s enough”, is so great. Monica feels like a real person and Teyonah did such a great job!
They butchered her at the ending though :( she was a great character then the end she was just like a tool for delerving dialogue and information

I didn’t like her ending, she should have held Wanda more accountable, all she really got were some glaring looks from the townsfolk. Monica experienced Wanda’s mind control firsthand, and whether it was intentional or not at first it eventually became so. Monica is an amazing character but she shouldn’t have shown as much sympathy for Wanda.

Wandavision was honestly the most refreshing thing from Marvel/ Disney, it needed something different. This was it! It was lovely to explore the characters who I really like, and how it gave the audience the real chance to discuss theories. I loved it!
Yes! I love that it gave them room to develop the characters emotionally rather than having that pushed aside by the big battle scenes

WandaVision broke me. I went in with no expectations (not even having seen the trailer) and was blown away by how good it actually was.. I ended up crying into my breakfast during the finale, lol
As an archeologist, the discussion Vision and White Vision had about the boat, is a discussion I have with archeologist and conservators all the time! Glad the Visions came to an agreement and that it's the same opinion as I have
The biggest proof in that Wandavision was a risk that paid off is that we're now 2 and a half weeks into Falcon and Winter Soldier(The more safe bet) and nobody is talking about it.
I've seen people talk about it, and I really love it, even if it is a more traditional action movie/show. It's just not as much of a _literal mystery_ as Wandavision was, which lends itself to speculation more. like "oh man, what's Zemo gonna tell them? Where are these supersoldiers coming from!?!?" like... idk we'll find out, someone is obviously doing it, it's probably a white dude in a government suit, because when is it not.
It's not like Bucky is having paranoid delusions that the Winter Soldier is coming after him, and it's actually just a Tyler Durdan situation and the audience has to figure out what's real or not.

I was watching wandavision while I was learning about the history of television and it made the viewing experience so much fun because I kept recognising all these little hints at all the eras through television and how on point it just was. It was incredibly amazing and it made me enjoy the show so much more
My least favourite part was Agetha. I don’t think Wanda needed a personal antagonist. When she was revealed as a bad guy I thought “oh, Wanda subconscious has created a character to blame so she doesn’t have to face her own faults” but no, it’s just an evil witch that she fights at the end. Oh well

I personally liked the fact I haven't watched any Avengers movies, but I didnt need to, to get Wandavision. It was amazing
I liked it up to the finale. It felt a bit cliché and kind of defeated how wandavision was supposed to be different. But that’s just my opinion. But as a whole I really did enjoy it. Either way, good review.

I enjoyed Wandavision and thought the concept was very clever, until the reveal that Agnes was an evil witch and had been influencing it all behind the scenes.
I was convinced when she was revealed that this was Wanda's subconscious manifesting and forcing her to confront the impact she had had on the town and the moral implications as her conscious self refused to do it.
When it became clear that she was real it just felt weird and cliche, particularly her backstory of Salem. It also raises the question of how and when she got there and what she's been doing for hundreds of years.

WandaVision is so incredibly femgaze, and i don’t wanna say that’s the reason why it’s so good... but it’s a big part of it, and why it feels like they gave it room to breathe, like they were taking risks, or like they were subverting the usual tropes. Media these days is filled with the opposite of that, i’m just VERY happy this is the show we got💜

V excited for this review
I'm really critical of WandaVision but I think it's mostly because some of it was some of the best TV I've ever watched and the parts that let me down really let me down. I loved the first few episodes, the tension and atmosphere they built, the alluding to illusion and magic and all of the story that's being told subtly without taking your hand and explaining everything in a condescending way. I found it so disappointing when they introduced all of the external SWORD stuff that I felt acted as unnecessary exposition and completely breaking the wonderful tension the show had created. They did a fantastic job for the most part though, and I will proudly declare that I didn't have a single classy tear in the last episode, I was full on ugly sobbing.
I have very little interest in marvel and super hero films in general, as im not a fan of action fight scenes and good guy vs bad guy / damsel in distress / some dude saves the world with arbitrary special powers plots but i watched this show with my boyfriend and his family and I enjoyed it so much!! I loved all the strong female characters and the tantalising mystery throughout that keeps you guessing (and never getting it right). The characters were explored and developed so well with excellent script writing and acting all round. It felt like a high quality mature and lovingly crafted tv show and i really want to see more if these characters!

I loved how the camera work changed with each different show that Wanda was creating. It was like you were almost watching an episode of that show in this weird superhero universe. However, the modern family (I think) did fall flat for me. I liked it at the very start but then I was over it.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was exactly the other movie this was reminding me of besides Truman show!!! THANK YOU JACK!

Great show, I wasn't even annoyed with the things that everyone else seemed to be because it's far from being over just because the show ended. I'm very interested to see how they handle people coming back to movies and seeing things changed by the shows if they've not been watching. I mean I'm sure enough people will tell others about the shows to catch them up, just as there have been for people who didn't watch all the movies, but as they do more of these, the you-shoulda'-been-there aspect may become an issue requiring solutions better than just _"...See issues 125."_ like they do in the comics.

I liked it, it has its issues though. Going in to this when they announced all these shows for the b level characters in the MCU, Scarlet Witch, Vision or even Falcon and Winter Soldier, I just didn't care. But now I do, it's made me care for Scarlet Witch, which a big positive for me.

I love how these MCU Disney+ show has a clear theme going on. WandaVision is about grief and TFATWS is about identity.
I went in not knowing what the hell was going on as I hadn’t seen the other films they were in. I love it by the end!
Honestly though, I had seen all the Marvel films, but only once and quite soon after they were released, and I remembered the characters but couldn't recall their storylines at all. So happy WandaVision got me more invested in these particular characters and the entire story leading up to the show!

I didn't feel that. It felt like the characters and the story were still at the forefront even if they wanted to have them fly around for a bit.
Something else they got right with this series was to commission the same director for all episodes (Matt Shakman). Not only that, but he is a Swiss Army Knife of directing having worked in film, television, and theatre.
I didn't understand why marvel thought it was necessary to make tv shows and I assumed it would just be a stretched out movie but oh boy was I wrong. The very first episode of wandavision I suddenly got it because the entire concept revolves around it being a tv show. Plus I loved getting the lil cliff hangers that I only had to wait a week to be paid off.
I really disliked Wanda as a character pre-WandaVision, and honestly never cared for Vision. I hated their relationship because it kinda felt unnecessary, underdeveloped and like it came out of nowhere, if that makes sense? But oh my god, after this show I am so heavily invested in their relationship. I loved the insights into their relationship development because it all finally made sense. I wouldn’t say Wanda or Vision are my favourite characters, but I’ve gone from not giving a shit about/disliking them to actually caring about them a little! What a fantastic show.

I liked it. Thought it had a great premise. However, I did think the plot got a bit thin from time to time. They packed a lot into the final episode, plot wise. Spread it out a little. Also, they did all this risky setup and then they had a magic fight in the sky to finish it off... But other than that, very pleased.
I have 2 strong opinions related to the Evan Pieters casting and to preface I think it was even better than you gave it credit for.
1) Although the "boner" joke was dumb in itself, I thought it was such a clever meta joke breaking all of the tension and build up and fan theories that could have had an absolutely massive weight on the MCU as a whole, with something so stupid and lowkey. It almost felt like being rickrolled with the way they pulled the rug out from under something massive with something so stupid. I wouldnt normally laugh at a guy called bohner but I creased at this because I thought it was a clever piece of meta humour that poked fun at the people who read into every detail while not dismissing them entirely.
2) A big theme throughout WV seemed to be hitting this uncanny valley spot which they did incredibly well, and I thought the appearance of Evan Pieters as Quicksilver really hit that uncomfortable feeling for me. It was both right and not right and it almost made me frustrated because for once I knew something that the characters didnt (contrast to most of the series where the uncanny valley feeling comes from the inverse).

this was the first marvel tv series that I really liked and loved!
I was kinda done with the MCU after Endgame, not hating it, but just satisfied and fine with not keeping up. So I didn't plan on watching Wandavision, and I didn't, until EVERYONE was talking about it, and now I feel really excited for what's coming next again!

the way you feel about the modern family episode is how i feel about the 70s-era episode - that one just didn't quite work for me, it felt kinda off the entire time (which may also have to do with the fact that wanda was pregnant in that one and pregnancy-storylines always make me kinda uncomfortable)

I feel like the sitcom episode fell flat almost on purpose because it was very odd after a black and white, classy period but it made sense slightly later on when you find out her trauma is related to sitcoms; it’s almost a defence mechanism. When her house was under attack and she watched her parents die she managed to cope and push through that because she was focusing on the sitcom that was playing on the TV. She can push through the trauma if her attention is on something else but now she’s suddenly being confronted with her trauma and doesn’t know how to cope, so turns her life into a sitcom to try and compartmentalise it a bit I think. At least that was my interpretation, I’m not a psychologist or have the same passion for films/TV so it’s more just what my gut reaction was!!
Yeah I have an issue with the multiverse that the MCU will be doing and how it is catering to the fans. Into the Spiderverse shows how the multiverse works.

Not Gonna Lie, I know I'm super late to this video. But hearing people talking talking about WandaVision I kind of wish that more people would go back and discuss there favorite sitcoms or a specific episode of a classic sitcom. Basically I would love if you watched and episode of Mary Tyler Moore and gave a critique on it. But if not I get it. You are a fancy person. I just think it would be kinda cool

I really did think Wandavision was great, very ambitious and different for Marvel which was very refreshing. My main complaint though, it that it wasn't directed by Steven Soderbergh.

It makes sense that they would put this big plot on Disney+ because I think it had massively increased the subscribers on their, where otherwise people just thought meh I’ll illegally stream my favourite marvel films because I’ve already seen them all?
I kind of wish we had only found out what was happening when Vision did.
The last few episodes felt almost rushed, liked they wanted to do a B plot and really expand on Agatha but didn't have the time so made Agatha All Along to yada yada how she's here, and the metacasting, as a super nerd, made me a little upset that it wasn't actually Peter. Other than that, excellent show, and even still, the finale still had good moments

This show made me care about a relationship I had 0% investment in.
In Civil War they were kind of flirting a bit, then Infinity War they were just in a full blown relationship and had been for months, so when she 'killed' him in Infinity War they went for an emotional moment I think they hadn't really earned.
This series (barring the finale and most of the penultimate episode) was astounding.
EDIT: Also I really hated that bit at the end where Monica says to her "They have no idea what you sacrificed for them" .....MATE, she mentally tortured them for weeks. This show is all about grief and what she leaves behind is a town who will be horrifically traumatised for the rest of their lives 😂

I really didn't care for Wandavision. Wanda and Vision weren't my favourite characters going in and all I could think at the ending was 'but this is all your fault'. Like she wouldn't have had to deal with her kids vanishing if she'd never made them up in the first place. I don't know, maybe I missed something in it or didn't understand, but to me Wanda came out looking like definitely not a villian but also definitely a very morally grey character that I don't agree with, same with Cap after Civil War

Outside of Katherine Hahn's performance, her character was pretty bad and superfluous, and they just had to end the series with a superhero vs a villain (with the same powers as the hero, but a different colour! they're evil!) like EVERY other marvel film that isn't Thanos or the GOTG films. I was just frustrated. Surely the military was enough of an external threat and didn't need Agatha? I thought they were going for a resolution that was more introspective but it turned out to be the same old marvel schtick, and there didn't seem to be much consequence for Wanda. I didn't keep up with the fan theories but I was still disappointed.
